Portege A600-175 - failed to start the card reader device

I got a Portege A600-175 running windows XP SP3 with a problem in the card reader device. Insert an SD card, it makes the sound that USB devices usually do when inserted (and also when it is removed) bur it doesn t appear on my computer. Do the Device Manager, it appears as a disc with an exclamation point on it and in properties, I see the error this device cannot start. (Code 10)

I ve already removed the device and let windows find and install again but the problem persists.

Thanks in advance for looking into it.

Hi fjdc,.

I think that you should look for an update to the driver on the Toshiba site:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Remove the old version, restart the computer and install the version of the Toshiba page.

    Hello

In fact I am facing problem like below...

Reinstalled system from Toshiba DVD recovery, all updates possible on web too.

However, when I wake Vista from the suspense Task Manager I think I can't start (continuous report) some programs (e.g. ThunderbirdPortable of SDHC), all other programs works well enough.

Anyone can know the reason, solution for this?

    Thanks for help

    Hello

As far as I understand, you are not able to use some 3rd party applications after the awakening of Eve Vista but other applications running ok only software Thunderbird Portable to the SDHC card.

Well, I have come to the conclusion that the card reader can hangs after the awakening of the stand by mode or the ThunderbirdPortable should be repeated. Probably it s not a problem of Vista, but question ThunderbirdPortable.
Have you tried to search if this is a known issue with this software?

    Hi Tom,

This means that your installation is corrupted and some components SQL do not settle down with it. I would advise to uninstall completely and then put it back using the installation CD you have. I hope this helps.

    Hi sanjeevkode,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.  As the question you posted typically associated with third party software / application that has its own way of program codes and call the corresponding system resources when installing and running. Therefore, I also suggest you to join the VMware Forums for the best support.

    VMware communities: http://communities.vmware.com/home.jspa

In the meantime I suggest you try these options / methods

IMPORTANT NOTE: Microsoft provides this information as a convenience to you. Proposed changes could lead to serious problems. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems would be solved as a result of the suggestions. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Option 1: If you go to computer management, and then to the list of Services and find the VMware authorization Service, it appears as stopped? If so, you need to start

Option 2: Try logging on as an administrator Local host during installation first workstation, rather than you connect with a domain ID

Option 3: The question can be caused also by your security program such an antivirus or a firewall of Windows /Defender that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again. You must enable security programs new that had disabled you

Option 4: The problem could be linked to a local or domain group policy. Make sure that the local account is defined as 'local user __vmware_user__' in the local Administrators group and the permissions of "Log on locally" and "Log on as a service.

The two parameters are available in the "* Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment *" branch of domain group policy or local.

Let me know if it worked.
    Hope it will be useful.

    Thank you and best regards,

  • Windows search Windows failed to start the service on the Local computer

OK, so it's a big, dirty and convoluted issue, so please bear with me. Any help is greatly appreciated! I start tearing my hair out on this one...

    I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit
UAC is set to the lowest level 2

The other day I have problems with the search box in the start bar. It is more was to find excel or other office applications and also he wouldn't orders base as cmd or Notepad. Whenever I run a command it returns an error like this (not exact because I have the exact error message):

Windows cannot find ': search query = cmd'

I searched a little and tried to rebuild the index in Control Panel > Indexing Options. It does not work so I uninstalled Windows Search and reinstalled. What I found now, is that the indexing service would not start and if I tried manually start from services.msc I would get the following error:

Windows search Windows failed to start the service on the Local computer
Error 161: the specified path is not valid

The event log showed me this Application error:

    Cannot initialize the Gatherer service.

    Details:

The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or inaccessible. Free space on the drive or verify that you have permission write to the Temp folder. (HRESULT: 0 X 80070660) (0 x 80070660)

    Help!

    Thanks Samhrutha.
Your proposed solution of editing the registry is the only solution I found to this day and still work.
The only drawback that I want to emphasize is that this fix causes completely reset to its default settings of windows search.  Customizations to search what have been done by the user (e.g., windows search indexing user customizations options) will be lost.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and occasionally experienced the same error message ( windows cannot find ': search query = XXX ", where XXX corresponds to my search query) try to search through windows when start menu search box.

Only recently, however, discovered one other cause possible/fix to this problem.
Specifically, I discovered that the error of windows search resulting from the ADDITION of a NETWORK LOCATION on the local computer (for example, via the menu option "Add a network location" that appears when you click the file menu in a window of windows Explorer displays the contents of the local computer (corresponding to the "COMPUTER" icon). The CENTER of my computer SYNC settings have been defined to disable the synchronization of network or file 'offline' and I suspect that this setting is also part the cause of the error of research.

To resolve this problem, simply tell windows search not to include the 'network' location in the search index.  To do this, one needs to access the settings of the windows search INDEX LOCATIONS (via Indexing Options-> change), then uncheck the box next to the network location (which on my computer starts as follows: oneindex: / / {s-1-5-21...)

After unchecking this box, click on the OK button and then CLOSE the button to exit the Options of Index window.  After that the error message should hopefully not return.  If so, try restarting the computer and research to test again.

    Hope this helps!

    :)

Original title - help help help me please

why I opened my computer it appears a message that "failed to start the audio driver of Dolby. Please restart your computer or reinstall the driver if the problem persists ". and I could not open Windows media player. What should I do now? who can help me please?

    Hello

Go Device Manager... Sound, video and game controllers, and see if you have triangles yellow error next to your audio devices...

My guess would be that you need to update the drivers for your audio devices.

You should be able to find the drivers + Support Web site for your computer model...

If not, find the number\model Audio chip and watch there chip manufacturers website for updates...

I don't know if the audio problem is a single chip, or is part of your graphics device...

If you don't find anything wrong in the audio, you can check that.

If you are using some kind of power management on the VDI? It seems as if the machine is unable to reach the HTTP Appvolumes service for any reason any newspaper which shows success connects withion a fraction of a second if the server doesn't seem to be to busy.

Maybe you try to join an appstack that has some sort of firewall inside rule?

This issue is finally resolved. After I compared the FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSPATH variables in the environment vs registry Variables, I found I was missing C:\Oracle\Middleware\oracle_common\doc\online_help\oracle_forms in the registry. After that I added it it still didn't fix it. Then I found that entry C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_FRHome1\jlib\ewt3.jar was pointing at my old House, so I have fixed to point to Oracle_FRHome instead of Oracle_FRHome1 and my forms launched immediately. • Update Windows 7 breaks the card reader, causes random crashes

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A500/026 that came with Windows 7 64 bit. Recently, I found only one) the card reader no longer works, and b) just after startup, I get an error message indicating that a component of software from Toshiba is broken down. Both developed these symptoms after a Windows Update, but I can't be sure that one.

The card reader works OK if I start a live CD of Ubuntu, but do not work on Windows, so I guess the problem is with a Windows driver that has been "updated" during a Windows Update.
Is there a set of drivers Toshiba I have to re - install after a Windows Update, or should I just wait that Microsoft fixes whatever-they-broke in whichever-update-it-was-that-broke-it?
    Any other ideas?

    Leigh.

Try to reverse both previous OS using System Restore tool and see if this will fix the problem.
For Windows update use important updates only. Do not install the updates options.

Do back the OS first and send feedback.

  • Error code: 0x8007045D when transferring files to the card reader.

    Original title: Error code: 0x8007045D

Error code: 0x8007045D when transferring files to the card reader. Lost files. Running Windows 7.

    Hi Bernard Major,.

1 did you change the permission for the files you are trying to copy?

    2. What place you are trying to copy the files?

    3. are you able to copy the same files on another computer?

You can try to copy files to another location on the computer and check.

    Step 1:

I recommend you to check if you have enough permission on the card reader to transfer files.

See the link to apply authorization:

What to know before applying permissions to a file or folder

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-to-know-before-applying-permissions-to-a-file-or-folder

    Step 2:

If you're still having problems, then run Check disk to repair the bad sectors.

    a. Click Start, in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.

    b. Type X: (for the card reader drive letter) and press enter

    c. at the command prompt, type chkdsk /f and then press ENTER.

    Now, type chkdsk/r

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area. You can save the data on the disk before you perform a checkdisk.

I also suggest you to check this problem with another USB plug.

  • Windows 7 64 bit without recognizing an SD card or SDHC card through the bult in the card reader.

12/15/10 my computer Desk Top read SDHC and SD cards without problems through the media built in card reader, but the small import window to the lower right of the screen wouldn't do anything, I have to disconnect & reconnect to get rid of it.
Then, on 18/12/10 if I inserted the card SD or SDHC card & NOTHING happen on the monitor. It was as if nothing was plugged. It would appear click on the Start button > computer as a removable storage but it wouldn't ask to import the photos. No window pop up or anything.
If I have a SD or SDHC insert card in a USB adapter so that connected on a USB Port, it works fine. I tried with four different memory cards.
Why the computer OS does not recognize that the inserted card & even the computer itself would know that it was inserted because there is a small light that flashes when something is plugged. But he doesn't want to import and MARK photos directly from the construction in the card reader?
I was on the phone with gateway 3 times by train to update ALL the drivers & try the system restore on the eve of thatI know it actually worked.
I even spent an hour and 45 minutes on the phone with a Tech. Microsft via the remote control and still could not solve the problem. Everyone wants to blame others, but I see a lot of people have very similar problems.
My computer was purchased there are 4 1/2 months. It's a gateway FX6840-03e. It is a very powerful platform but suddenly something happened and now it will not import pictures from the card reader. I have to import via USB!
The strange thing is that my sister told me that exactly the same thing happened to his computer about a week and half ago. It is configured to download & install updates automatically. I'm set up just to be notified to download and install myself.
Why backup restore & would still work on a date that we both knew for positive that our computers were working very well?
So we need help! Anyone have any solutions or suggestions? The only assistance we have received so far was "Re-install the entire operating system."

Well Finally I found the problem of not being able to import images. After so much work and all try, same re-install windows7 operating system
It turns out this is one brass bit inside the construction tabs in the card reader was not working properly! Just a. That's all it took. It would show that the card has been installed, the light on the computer itself would show a card has been installed, but he wouldn't ask to import.
THANK YOU ALL for your help and suggestions! It was great.
The computer is fairly new but it had a flaw inside the card reader. So, if anyone knows the same check the connection problem.
Once again thatnk you for your help!

I tried to use the convenience store but just that said there is no problem found. When I insert the SD card, it appears in the 'control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and printers' as ' Flash Card Reader/Writer "but I am not able to access the card.

    Hi Tim,.

Was there a card player offered to you via Windows update driver update?

-You see no drive letter assigned to the flash card while you see for readers in the window 'computer '?

-What is the error you get when you go to the map?

I suggest you try to change the drive letter assigned to the card and see if that helps.

1 type diskmgmt.msc in the RUN prompt or in start search to open the computer management window.

    2. right click on the indicated card device and select "paths of access and change drive letter.

    3. click on change if there is an assigned drive letter, and then change to another letter. If this is not the case, click on add and select a drive letter.

4 restart the computer so that the changes are applied and see if you are able to access the content in the map.

Alternatively, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the card and see if that makes a difference.

Visit the website of your computer manufacturer to download and install the latest drivers.

  • How to you turn off the card reader in the BIOS of HP on a dv6693us

I'm trying to clean up the hard drive with Dban, it keeps hanging up on the pci sysfs that is a known issue with HP and the Ricoh card reader. All forums say to turn it off, but for the life of me I can't find it in the BIOS. I disabled the only other thing I can, the only one who has been activated was the CD-ROM drive.

I'm not the most experienced in there, but I've never had a problem before. I just need to turn it off, otherwise I'll have to open the case and disconnect it physically... that I would prefer not to do so.

I tried to use Secure Erase of the Center for Magnetic Recording Research, but it does not work either, looks as if it was developed for Windows up to me. I thought nothing to lose then burned the disc and it froze before you start running.

Now after reading some of the reports I'm not if sure that any written software program is 'sunk', but I'm not too worried, I don't have that much to personal info here ever. I have other computers to it. I just want something that does a great job and works well. I lost days to try to obtain Dban to run so far.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

I looked in the BIOS on a DV2810us I, who is the little brother of lil 14.1 '' laptop series DV6000/DV9000. There is no place to turn off the card reader that I can find.

Try something else like Partition Wizard, my personal recipe. Scroll down the page and get > Bootable CD ISO and > ImgBurn to burn the iso image to cd, a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here. Once created, boot from it. Delete hard drive partitions, create and format.

  • Satellite Pro A100-81: memory Pro Duo card is stuck in the card reader

I am the proud owner of a Satellite Pro A100-81. I inserted a Duo Pro Memstick into the slot of the card reader...

The card slipped too deeply into the slot so that I unfortunately can't remove the card more.
Any ideas how to remove the card?

    Hi Gary

Are you sure that the laptop computer s card reader supports memory stick Pro Duo?
It s unusual who supported cards will slip to deep into the slot, something as may occur if the card is not taken in charge and is not compatible with the slot

However, you shouldn't t do anything hard disk average if you n t know how remove it ask someone to help him with more experience for laptop

Unfortunately the user did not post a link for the driver that solves the problem.
I've updated to the latest driver for the controller card on the Toshiba site reader: Ricoh 3.54.04 however no change.
Can someone suggest another pilot to try? I tried searching the site Web of Ricoh download but have not found anything useful.
Any help appreciated as I now have to use the USB cable to transfer my photos :(
    FYI, SD card works fine.

    Hello

I have no idea of what OS you use but the card reader controller
Driver for Win XP downloaded on 15-10-09. It seems that it s among the newer versions. This time it s a 3.54.04.

I think that you will not find a more recent version

PS: Check if you BIOS is up to date. If this is not the case, the update.
Moreover, as far as I know that not all card sizes are supported maybe you should try another card with the smallest size.
