Portege M100 - how to replace the RTC battery?

Hello, my Portege M100 RTC battery is flat. I managed to order one of the internet, but I can't locate. I disassemble almost every part of the computer, but if someone could just guide me and give the procedure to replace, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hi friend

It s easy to replace the RTC battery on your machine. I already did and I had no problem when replacing, I mean it's a bit difficult to find the batt. but I will give all that to my experience. ;)

First look at the wireless lan card, West a slot under the slot lies the minipci wlan card. Near the wireless lan card slot is somewhat on the cover, this cover must be removed (quietly). The RTC battery is located in a white insulator, but before you peel this small battery, you must disconnect the battery from the motherboard. After unplugging it, simply lift the RTC and place a new.

That's all, unfortunately I can't serve you with some photos, so you'll have to imagine yourself. ;)

Good luck and welcome

P.s.: If you feel uncomfortable by replacing the batt, then ask some tech to help you.

    Hi Paolotia,

Replace the RTC battery in your notebook requires pretty extensive disassembly. You will need to disassemble to the system board.

    Hey Buddy

To replace the CMOS battery, you will need to disassemble the whole laptop.
    You want to risk that?

I mean the whole notebook must be dismantled in the right direction and you use the right tools and the right order
It's not easy and I would say that that's impossible without additional manuals and hardware experience

I recommend contacting a mobile technician, that it would be the best way because this disassembly is really complicated and there is a high risk that damage you other expensive parts like motherboard or display

PS; Why do you want to repalce the CMOS battery? Have you tried to recharge it again?

  • Can't separate the top cover to the base/motherboard to replace the RTC battery on laptop ZD8080US

I am trying to replace the RTC on a Pavillion ZD8080US battery.  I proceeded with disassembly in step 11, page 5-33 Maintenanceand Service of Guide.  I am now unable to separate the top cover from the rest of the laptop.

I can get the left side of the image of the base but even with what appears to be excessive force that I can't get the right separate about 1/4 "without making me concerned that I'll break the cover.   (The right side of the cover is folded about 10 degrees when I'm trying to force it).  I tried some jiggling and a few twists to see if that would open invisible conflicts but with no luck.  I used the tree of a screwdriver between the parties to try to increase the force.  All to nothing does not.

Coverage seems to be stuck/attached to a 4 "- 5" to the top on the right side.  It acts like a screw that has not been removed.  I don't see anything when I peer into the hole when the two parties are discarded.  Is there any adhesive which can be between the parties on the right side?

I examined the process of dismantling four times.  I counted the screws that came out.  I revamped to all the screw holes in the drawings and made sure there is no screws in the holes.

Am I missing something?  Is there a step or a comment has been omitted in the text?  Is there a screw hidden under the model or label of Windows?  Is there one thing that others have found to accomplish this separation?

I appreciate any help I can get.

    Thanks in advance.

After watching the video, it looks like you missed a few screws. (certainly enough of them _ typical HP)  HP laptops must be 'broken' even if all the screws have been removed, but yours seems to just raise, so it seems that you missed a few screws.

Manual maintenance is not public record, so you can not find it for download.
Here in the forum isn't easy to post description step by step how you can disassemble your laptop and there are always risks that can damage some small piece of plastic or plastic media.

I put t really know what to say. Try to use google and find a page where you can find a description how to do this.

  • Adjustable 430CDT Pro - how to replace the CMOS battery?

    Two questions, if I could.

    1. the old new 430CDT - does anyone have simple instructions that go I would find the CMOS battery and replace it without destroying the computer in the process? I suspect that it is hidden under the keyboard, but have no idea how to do to remove that. (I'm not very super-friendly upward on computers.)

    2. How can I get back in to old posts and give points for helpful answers?

    Thank you!

I m not very well, but I doubt you could get access to the only keyboard removing CMOS battery.
Usually it s placed on the motherboard but it s need to disassemble the whole laptop and believe me. It's really complicated and mostly impossible for some who never disassembled a laptop

So if you ask my opinion: contact a technician in downtown and ask for help.

  • Portege R700 how to replace the keyboard

    Hello!

One of the keys on my R700 R700 laptop model PT311A-00Y00Q has a broken key. Apparently, you can get spare keys, so I need a whole new keyboard.

    I found this on EBay: keyboard http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=Toshiba+R700+ & _sacat = 0

But I can't find a guide to replacement of the keyboard, would you mind linking me to a guide?

    Thanks in advance.

I've read some reports of users who have tried to replace the keyboard on the R700 and it's not very easy.
It s difficult because you will need to remove the other parts like the
Battery, sim card, express card slot, modules of memory, base Assembly to gain access to a
Ribbon of aluminum on the back of the lid Assembly. Then you could cut the lid Assembly face to the top and peel the keyboard joined the insulator.
And also you can not use the keyboard removed and isolator keyboard again. You will need to use new parts

  • Portege R700 - how to replace the optical disk drive?

    Hello
I would like to replace the optical disc drive (ODD) with a Solid State Drive (SSD) on my Portege R700.
So my first question is: what is the way to remove the STRANGE?

And my second question is: can I replace it with a Caddy drive HARD ICY BOX IB-AC642 or Akasa AK-OS2SSA-BK?
Interface SATA caddy fits with the WEIRD interface?

    Thank you for your answer

    Hello

It s really complicated because the STRANGE is placed inside and remove it you must remove all the screws that fix the bottom cover.

I wouldn't, because you will lose the warranty.
More I doubt you could get the second HDD to work in ODD Bay.
I think that this is not supported
Just the laptop s as Portege M400, M700, M750, Tecra M9, S3 or S4 with a select Bay slim support would treat the 2nd HDD instead of ODD.

  • Portege R500 - how to replace the SSD?

    Hello

    1. I have trouble using the recovery CD. The computer to read the CD once and give me an error message that it cannot partition the SSD drive. Ask me to restart the PC. Then I insert the CD change once again, the sequence of boot on the CD, but now, the computer does not recognize the recovery CD. Now, the freezing of the PC after start.

    2. I have a legal windows vista CD I tried to install in the PC but I'm not a clean install because the computer does not read the CD

    3. I tried the CD in another computer. I insert the CD to reboot and the computer immediately went to the wizard of microsoft vista.

    4. I tested the CD rom and it works.

    5. I believe that the solid state SSD laptop drive has failed.

I opened my laptop to check what I need to buy the brand SSD. However, is the first time that I change a SSD drive and I don't know where he is and how to replace. So, if someone can answer with the steps of how to do to replace the SSD I will appreciate it.

    Thank you
    Nils.

    Hello!

In my opinion, it could also be a problem with the CD/DVD drive. I mean you have tried another drive and the computer laptop doesn t read this disc too.
So for me it sounds like this drive is also defective.

But as Akuma said you should also check the SATA Mode in the BIOS.

I think the best way would be to contact you nearest ASP. They can check a defective hardware for laptop parts and Exchange. If your laptop is under warranty, repairs are free.
The ASP s list that you can find here:

  • Portege R200 - how to replace the HARD drive

Fundamental questions about the Toshiba Portege R200 (purchased model birthday Thailand August 2005) are:
    (1) Please provide instructions to remove the hard drive (non-functional) (illustrations if possible)
    (2) model has enough space inside for hard drive 2.5 inch? (Impossible to locate 1.8 inches and below, to get the results of [expensive] calls to Toshiba - of interest only)

    Background:
    (1) while 3 years warranty in force I trecked (expensive) of Malaysia in Bangok (where to buy) at the headquarters of Toshiba (if you know Bangkok taxi drivers, you'll know what a test or going around in circles and the nonsense in the fire that was)... Toshiba agreed HD vibrating but reported would take 3 to 10 weeks to get the HD replacement (!?)
    (2) I was a few weeks later to the r - u (to tie)... They told me they couldn't help; I "should contact my provider...". This is an Asian model, in Europe, we cannot... etc etc.
    (3) a week later the HD has no
    (4) I contacted Toshiba but they told me the warranty expired 7 days before...
    (5) since this time I phoned and was put on hold for Toshiba in the region of London (several times), Singapore (3 times), Thailand (well, if you know how it goes, say-no more, shots of elbow-boost)...

I got nowhere. But were invited by the media to bring it to the headquarters of Thai (yet)... It's all right, I'll book a flight and hotel etc now, shouldn't cost all that much more than the computer cost me initially...

Oh, another thing, not very important: to help out me, I bought a lighter machine at Toys R us... 300 quid... for the love of antiquity I always want to get the old dog to this shiny Silver Anniversary edition slim R200 works again...
I have a 2.5 "HD available (recond and costs all 9 quid in Brummagem) but before I destroy the old R200 dog by ineptitude... (and lost to carefree annoyance no assistance of Toshiba)... and/or on how to remove HD, please?

    Hello

I have seen words about your question.
AFAIK the R200 was equipped with the utility of the HARD disk protection. It is a feature to reduce the risk of damage to the HARD disk.
Using the acceleration sensor built into the computer drive HARD protection detect vibrations, shocks and sings in the computer and automatically moves the HDD Head somewhere course, in order to reduce the risk of damage.
But this function does not ensure that the HARD drive will not damage! It reduces the risk of damage!

However, the HARD drive can be removed very easily.
At the bottom of the unit, you will find the HARD drive Bay. It s close to the battery (on the left).
You need to remove two screws to get access to the HARD disk 1.8.

PS: You can use disks hard only 1.8. The 2.5 hard drives are not compatible.
    I discovered that you can use a TOSHIBA 60GB 4,200 rpm 1.8 HDD HDD1544BZK01

How to replace the battery internal HP G72 laptop?

    Hello

You see a warning like "Pprimary battery (internal) (601)"?  If so, this refers to your main battery of notebooks, not the cell of RTC.  Further details on this on the document here.

As a double check, you can still download and run the test utility of battery pack available on the next page and see if this indicates a problem with your battery.
