Portege M200 BIOS update running Windows 7?

Hello

I recently took a Portege M200 and installed (via PXE - network installation) Windows 7 above. I want to upgrade the BIOS as is always in the original BIOS (1.1). I downloaded and extracted the pkg and tried to install through Windows but it says that my OS is not supported. I don't have an external CD drive or floppy drive - how do I update the BIOS? I tried to put it on a USB key, but it doesn't seem to be an option to boot from USB.

Thank you!
Jerry

Seems that BIOS cannot be updated because Win 7 is not officially supported on this good old classic.
However, AFAIK the VAP (value added package) is required to run an update of the BIOS. So, try to install the VAP. Choose this tool which is available for other models of laptops.

I have a portege m200 and because he doesn't any device (floppy drive, dvd) top, I want to be able to boot from an sd card. For that I need the most recent BIOS version v1.70win, but to intall, it requires the common Module. I have instaled (there was no error, at least), but when I try to do the update, a message "lack the common module". So I'm a bit confused. I guess the best, think to do is erase any previous version of the common module and reintall it, but I have no ideea how I had to do.

    Hello Daniel

AFAIK it of not necessary to install a common Modules if you want to update the BIOS. You can normally find the common Modules to add and remove programs. If you need a whole instruction how to do a BIOS update, you can find it on the Toshiba site.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Please go to Support & downloads and Knowledge Base. There, you can search for the BIOS update.

The bios is not dependent on OS. I think that the flash program used to update the bios work correctly under windows 8.1. Before you do the update try to make a backup of your current bios so that you can always come back if you wish. See the image below on how to do the backup and update the bios.

    Hello

I doubt you'd be able to update the BIOS on the Opensolaris OS.

The Toshiba page provides only focused on the victory of the BIOS, which means that you need to install windows to update the BIOS.

The traditional BIOS version allowing you to update the BIOS by using the USB disk is not available for download.

I think that only FSA (authorized service providers) availability to perform a BIOS update using the diskette.

  • Portege R700 - BIOS-update 2.20 - WIN does not work

    I have a Portege R700-172-PT311E-03201KGR
    It's a WIN 7 64 bit Machine.

    Current BIOS 1.70
    EC-current Version: 1.40

For this machine, an update of the BIOS and IT's there.
So I downloaded the "BIOS220_EC160.exe" update and tried to treat.

The first message during the update process is: "it is necessary to update the BIOS and THIS.
When I continue with "Run the update", I get the error message:
    "Error: preparation of updated failed.
Given the image file is not compatible with this cimputer.

There is no change in the material of the machine. The only problem I see is that we use McAfee Endpoint Encryption (V6.0.2.6) that could have some influence on the update of the BIOS.

    But I'm not sure.
    Does anyone have an ideas?

I have portable three-year-old BIOS was did not updated

However, AFAIK the VAP (value added package) must be to get the updated BIOS updated. Also the firewalls and other security and antivirus preinstalled on the system software must be disabled before attempting to update the BIOS.

  • HP Pavilion A6750Y Bios Update for Windows 7?

Hello, I bought a HP Pavilion A6750Y years that I have been very satisfied.  I have of course updated from Vista to Windows 7, added a video card and I'd really like to upgrade my cpu.  So far, in the Support & drivers for my computer, it lists still my motherboard as being able to run up to a processor AMD Phenom 9950 x 4. I noticed however if I list my OS as Vista 64-bit, then it does in fact appear a BIOS update that would allow the MOBO to exploit some AM3 cpu. It would still work for my computer running Windows 7, or y at - it an update of the BIOS in preparation for Windows 7, otherwise I would really like to make the request. I want to spend my processor to a Phenom 2 x 4 and need my MOBO to support AM3 processors. Thank you in advance.

    Hello:

I wouldn't update the BIOS by using Windows 7. There is more than 95% of probability you will make the PC unusable.

HP will release no updates to the BIOS of windows 7 for your PC.

If you want to update the BIOS, your only alternative is to install Vista, updated the BIOS and then reinstall W7.

If I choose "OS Independent" it tells me ' Bios is NOT compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista! So I am stuffed and I need to stay with my current BIOS, or can, I use Windows Vista BIOS update?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

    Hello

First question; Why do you update the BIOS?
Do you want to update only to have a newer version?
If your Windows 7 is working well, then a BIOS update is not necessary.

Otherwise, install Vista OS to Toshiba Recovery (if available) disk, the BIOS update and then change to Win 7 ;)

  • Pavilion Media Center M8400f Bios Update for Windows 7

HP Pavilion Media Center m8400f. The Vista operating system has been replaced by Windows 7 (64 bit) a number of years.

I've updated one of my hard drives with a SanDisk SSD (it is now my main drive with the operating system and all my files on board).

The bios on the PC has never been updated.

The SanDisk SSD dashboard software will not recognize the SanDisk SSD as the system has designated the SSD as a SCSI device. I need to access the bios for this change to AHCI. The current bios does not support this.

The PC has a card mother MCP61PM-HM. There is no update for Windows 7 BIOS for that motherboard I know (updates Vista only).

SanDisk gave me a link to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-82094-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&... that shows a card mother M2P61PM-HM for m8400f desktop PC. This Bios download supports Windows 7 (64 bit).

Can update the Bios to download safely a card mother M2P61PM-HM for card mother MCP61PM-HM I currently have?

    Hello

The HP BIOS update link provided SanDisk is an update of the BIOS of your PC. It is listed under Win Vista 64 bit driver downloads here.

If you look at the site to download the drivers for your PC you'll only see driver support for Win Vista but on 2010-04-08, Version 5.29, 1.47 M BIOS updatedshows support for Win 7.

But the problem is this: the BIOS updates must be performed using the PC operating system comes with; in your case, Win Vista. Extreme care must be exercised when updating the BIOS under normal circumstances. I would not classify your situation as usual.

I saw others download an update of the BIOS for their PC and try to install an operating system upgraded with disastrous effects. The PC was bricked.

Be prepared for the worst case if you try to install the update to the BIOS.

I have problems with my R500, so I would update the BIOS of thought.

    I went to download bios - 200803250781.zip

    It contains the P0058v160.exe file

    From that process leads to:

"install2 has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Should these BIOS be installed gradually? My r500 is early and running v1.00.

    Sorry

    Hello

If you want to update the BIOS, then you need to download the BIOS package and must first uncompress it.
Then run the exe file in the folder.

I don't know why the error message, but please make sure that the common Modules are installed on your system of m.

If the error will still persists then this might be a problem with the installed Windows operating system, and not with the BIOS software.

  • ProBook 4420 s - BIOS update failure - Windows 8.1

Had a bad HDD then I've upgraded to a new SSD with Windows 8.1 after doing so. I decided to update the BIOS.  I've updated the BIOS through Windows and restart that the laptop would not start.  All I saw was a white wireless LED and LED power.

  • BIOS updated on Windows 7, now it is more 'authentic '.

I've recently updated the BIOS on my motherboard because I had pretty severe physical problems. These problems have disappeared, but now as of July 8, Windows 7 cannot determine whether it is genuine or not. I have no doubt that it is authentic, because this particular PC also comes with Windows 8 Pro but pre-installed with Windows 7 Pro. However, I've looked everywhere and I don't have COA for Windows 7 Pro either. I guess that's because it's OEM SLP. There is however a real sticker to Windows 8 Pro on pc it's led me to believe that Windows 7 Pro is not wrong either. Is it possible to upgrade my BIOS was what triggered this sudden "non-genuine" question? Is it possible that this was SLIC activated with what was the old BIOS version or I leave completely here?

Honestly, I don't know where to go with that because my computer tech support was not helpful at all and I prefer not wipe my computer and install Windows 8 only for her to have the same issues, if it is due to the upgrade of the BIOS.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. Are you a specific error code with the message "this computer is not running genuine windows?
    2. What is the activation state in the System Properties window? Is he showing active or non-active?

Normally after upgrading BIOS you should not get this serious issue on your computer. However, I would like to confirm with you that is your computer showing Windows activated in the System Properties window or not. For more information, you can consult the steps and the screenshot below.
