Portege M200 PPM21E: shock electric metal

Hello

I recently got a toshiba portege m200 tablet but I realized that when the AC adapter is plugged in a small electric shock is given to any person touching the metal housing, I heard someone it could be my ac adapter that is causing the problem, but I wonder if someone on this site has an idea of the problem. Thank you

more information if necessary:
Tablet of model number: PPM21E-0260Z-FR
The charger product number: PA3282U-1ACA

Hello Thomas

It seems to be some serious electrical ptoblem and please take it seriously. I recommend you contact the authorized Service partner as soon as possible. They must check the DC-in port and see if something needs to be exchanged.

Please be careful about this. Maybe you should not use the laptop until this issue is clarified.

Good bye

  • From a Portege M200 battery mode screen

Hello, first sorry for my English, I am not totally bilingual.
So I got a Portege M200, with the model number: PPM21E-02QFZ-FR, serial number: 55893043G

This work of the computer laptop but fine * when I unplug the AC adapter black screen come *, when I reconnect light screen again (he continues to work, but without screen because it serves not next).

I have try the Fn + F5 combination, not worked, try to change performance settings in windows, without change.

When I go into the BIOS I can make it happen this problem even if the AC is plugged by changing the value of the field 'battery saving mode' to 'full power' to the other (when I change the screen turns off the coast).

do you know how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    > This laptop work well, but when I unplug the power of the screen in black, when I reconnect light screen again (he continues to work, but without screen because it does not fuel nearby).

Sorry I mate m afraid I did not understand it correctly.
If you unplug the AC adapter, the screen turns off.
But what happens if the power adapter is connected again? You say that screen lights up again, but then said you that you can work but no screen.

    So I'm confused now

In my opinion, you should check the Windows power options.
Usually, if the AC adapter should be disconnected, the laptop will switch to another power plant (battery mode).
In my opinion, you should check the settings of the power station, which is used if the AC adapter is disconnected.

  • Portege M200 display issues

Hello. I just got my new M200 tablet pc, but the display is sluggy compared to my screen Tecra S1. Looks like there is something on top of the display Assembly that makes sluggy image and the colors too. This can be seen especially on white background. Is there a plastic to remove, because I looked and I think he does not like or is it normal for the tablet PC?

    Hello

The Portege M200 LCD screen is covered with a protective mask. This protective film is integrated into the LCD mask to prevent scratches on the LCD Panel - caused from dirt or handling - caused by the use of the pen.
You can't compare these two screens (Portege Tecra) for Portege is tablet pc with the protective mask and Tecra has a very different display with other properties.

Portege M200 - CPU runs only at 600 MHz

    I have a Portege M200 with a Dothan Pentium M 725 supposed to run at 1.6 ghz, but posts a 598 Mhz
frequency. I updated the bios to 1.8.

I read in a previous post "locked"...:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=63390

.. He's supposed to be a base of BACK of Toshiba utility to fix the problem. .
It is said that this is not a Bios problem...

Can someone direct me to this utility?

    Thank you!

    Gary

The answer is here... thanks all and who is responsible for:

    http://forums.Toshiba.com/T5/Qosmio-laptops/598-MHz/TD-p/194566

The key is a utility called 'pom200t1 '.

    You will need the following.

A floppy disk or if you do not have an external floppy drive, or if you are common sense to be able to boot a file from a CD player.
You must also WinImage, as all files that you download come as .ima files
    Download pom200t1 - V1.5.zip and pom200t1.zip (if if doesn't work either).

    You can find them here:

http://www.stormpaintball.com/Toshiba/pm765.bin (this one is a ditch last attempt).
Then follow the instructions on the site I posted before:

Symptom: CPU remains constantly 598 MHz.

    * Process: *.

    (1) boot in the BIOS. (Press "Esc" during the boot process, before the loading of the operating system, but after having entered your password, if you use the startup password protection).

    2) look under 'Other' category.

    (3) if the motherboard does not have enough information about the CPU, the category 'Dynamic CPU frequency Mode' appear on (you won't see it).

If the laptop is in this state that he won't ever faster than 598 Mhz until you perform the following procedure.
Note: Although this utility said it's for a Toshiba Portege M200, the particular difficulty you need may work on other Toshiba laptops.
He has worked on 3 different Toshiba Satellite Pro M15 S405s, but * USE at YOUR OWN RISK *.

    (1) start Windows and create the startup disk in the pom200t1.exe file.

    (2) boot from the diskette you just made.

    (3) in the menu, select the initial repair option 2 "set config".

    (4) in the following menu, select option 1 'Initial cofiguration"(misspelled)

    (5) after a few seconds, you should see "Writing a file is over!" and the laptop restarts automatically without asking for confirmation.

    (6) when restarting the laptop go back into the BIOS and look under 'Other' category. You should now see the "dynamic CPU frequency Mode". Make sure it is set to "Dynamically switchable" for the CPU limitation.

    7) restart Windows and make sure that the CPU can throttle in normal conditions. The Intel SpeedStep technology icon should now be in the systray. Go to the Toshiba power management / Power Saver Properties and update all of your methods to save power to use technology SpeedStep that you prefer (fixed or automatic) and mount all caps speed processor, or you can go above 798 MHz because cursors will always be to their previous settings (4 or less), while they can now go up to 7. Let me know how you go.
I have fixed the CPU now just need to find out why my fan only works when I activate it manually!

  • Portege M200 - the hard drive failed

My 60 GB Toshiba hard drive failed in my Portege M200.

I tried mounting a hard drive, I had in my old laptop, a 30 GB Hitachi hard drive but the laptop doesn't seem to recognize it. Does need a Toshiba hard drive or is the laptop died, when I put the hard drive in I get message invalid startup disk.

The old hard drive goes to a blue screen then restart the laptop.

No there not Toshiba HDD only. I found the list of some compatible hard drives for this old Portege.
You can use follow hard drives:
    -TOSHIBA HDD2193B
    -TOSHIBA HDD2171B
    -TOSHIBA HDD2184B
    -TOSHIBA HDD2194B
    -HITACHI G8BC00014410
    -HITACHI G8BC00014610
    -HITACHI G8BC00015610
    -HITACHI G8BC00014810

Anyway, when you try to use new BIOS to check updated HARD drive and if default settings the new HARD drive will be recognized correctly in the BIOS settings.

Old HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
Have you tried to install the OS by using old HDD?

This works even on a SATA drive. Start alternative all Win2k or XP installation CD, go to the console command and issure of recovery

  • Portege M200 BIOS update running Windows 7?

    Hello

I recently took a Portege M200 and installed (via PXE - network installation) Windows 7 above. I want to upgrade the BIOS as is always in the original BIOS (1.1). I downloaded and extracted the pkg and tried to install through Windows but it says that my OS is not supported. I don't have an external CD drive or floppy drive - how do I update the BIOS? I tried to put it on a USB key, but it doesn't seem to be an option to boot from USB.

    Thank you!
    Jerry

    > I downloaded and extracted the pkg and tried to install through Windows but it says that my OS is not supported. I don't have an external CD drive or floppy drive - how do I update the BIOS?

Seems that BIOS cannot be updated because Win 7 is not officially supported on this good old classic.
However, AFAIK the VAP (value added package) is required to run an update of the BIOS. So, try to install the VAP. Choose this tool which is available for other models of laptops.

  • Re: Portege M200: need to start Win XP boot disk

    Hi all

I'm looking for a boot floppy to boot XP tablet edition disc 2005 on my Portege M200.
If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

    Hello

    You must initialize disc?
I wonder why you need this disc?

I think you don t know a fact. The diskette of starting in not necessary but you need a compatible CD/DVD player if you want to start from the CD or DVD.

The Portege M200 supports the recovery through the BIOS (by pressing 'C') with the USB 2.0 card and PCMCIA (16-bit and Cardbus).

_Following and controllers (USB, PCMCIA) can be used: _
    one) Toshiba, PA3352E-SCD2, CD-RW/DVD-Rom USB 2.0 drive
    (b) Toshiba, PA3402E-1DV2 USB 2.0 DVD Super Multi Drive, SN: 5362870112
    (c) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST SN: 3431490096 with a PC card (16 bit), cable, PCMCIA Card, Rev.043.242, SN: 18496 043 3999 0343 01093
    (d) Toshiba, PX1055E-1NST SN: 3431490096 with CardBus, cable II, CARDBUS, Rev.136, SN: 16693 136 3999 0149 06122

The setting of 'PC Card Controller Mode' in the BIOS should be 'Automatic Selection '.
This means that you have nothing to change in the BIOS, because it is the default value.

  • Portege M200 - device unknown in Device Manager

I did a clean install of Windows XP on my toshiba portege m200 (Tablet). I have most of the devices drivers installed, but there is one that I can't understand. The device manager says I have an "unknown device" on my "Intel 82801 dbm lpc interface controller.

What is it? I thought it was the chip set, but I had installed the Intel chipset drivers (twice, just to make sure that I really did), but it still reads as 'unknown device' on ' Intel (r) 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC.

To resolve this issue go to the device, right click on the unknown device, Manager and then select set to update driver.
When the Hardware Update Wizard appears, select the advanced option.
From the next window, select the 'don't search. I will choose the driver' option
Now, go to the Intel announcement and select good "82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC.
Click OK and now it should work.

Also, be sure you have all the drivers installed from Toshiba Web site:

This is a really silly situation. I have no such media, but maybe you should contact the nearest authorized service provider. Maybe they have this CD.
I put t have much experience with the tablet PC, but up to what you expect you should try installing WXP Professional and all offered drivers Toshiba, tools and utilities.

  • Portege M200 - unable to access the recovery console

    Hello

Yesterday my software anti-virus let me know that a virus was trying to access my computer, had quarantined it and claimed a reboot of my Portege M200 to remove it completely. Restart, the laptop is not actually restart and just hung. It gets past the Toshiba window and crashes. I tried to start in safe mode but nothing helped. It starts to load files and crashes to a particular system file that is obviously now corrupt. I tried to enter my recovery console using Windows XP Recovery discs, but was unable to do so. The discussions on this forum have been useful, however I still have not solved the problem.

I have my product recovery DVD-ROM, but I'm afraid to use it as the next warning with her said that reformatting will lose all my work and I do not know if it will automatically reformat my hard drive (which I have no back ups of my work) or I will give a choice? Also, I see BONES of your forums, that it will correct not actually of corrupted files. I've also seen queues to make an image ghost on a floppy drive but I don't have a floppy drive on my Portege M200.

Can someone please provide me with the steps to solve this problem, as I am of 11 hours trying to solve this problem, but nothing helps!
    Thank you

You are right about image recovery. Recovery image is designed to clean BONES only and there is no option for the repair of the BONE. What you can try is to get the disc of Microsoft WXP installation and Startup Repair option.

I hope this will help you and you will be able to boot OS preinstalled. If it will work on the first back up all your important data.
