Portege M600: keyboard problem

Hello

My M600 just got a little problem (I hope) today.

The 'x 'key' doesn't quite work. I have to press very hard to show the letter 'x '. It seems that the upper-left hand corner of this key is stuck, so he bends to the bottom right when I press on it. How can I solve this problem?

I am located in Glasgow (G4 0JQ) and do not know if there are any office of maintenance here, but just know the nationalwide Service Pick-Up & return for laptops Web site. However, I prefer to deal face to face with the engineer in a few minutes, because I guess this isn't a big deal, isn't it?

Thank you very much
Ting

Hi Ting

What to say? You know that the best solution is ASP and finally change the keyboard. I really don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you check out http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP. You will see where is the nearest ASP. Make a call and see what they say on keyboard problem.

    Hello

I have an M600 (PPM60A), I recently did an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 (not an update own) a few times (?) A week?) After updates in line required, keyboard & touchpad no longer works, when it is connected to the docking station.

All is well by using an external keyboard & mouse wireless.
I tried "F9", even trying to reload the Synaptics Touchpad drivers from the Web from TOshiba site - it gives the message - Syn TP... Installation failed.

Anyone has any suggestions or do I now has an "office of low power!

Have you tested the laptop without docking station?
What about new OS install? Have you tested if the keyboard and the touchpad works after recovery again?
    Do this!

PS: the Portege M600 is not portable low power it s a business class specifications and belongs to a series of notebook better.

  • Portege 3500 - keyboard problem

    Hello
I'm having a problem very similar to the one described here: http://forums.tabletpctalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=507&highlight=keyboard

My keyboard does not work, even if the alt and shift keys work to password login screen. On the screen, the light of the F10 is on.

There are beeps when the computer is started. The first time, I counted 14 beeps. On subsequent reboots, this was replaced with a quick and repetitive beep.

The pen seems to work OK. In the case of Windows, the only key that works is the key shortcut Menu. By clicking on that activates the function 10 light again. Then clicking on the SHIFT function indicator 11 switches.

I also can't get into the bios, probably because the keyboard fails and the ESC key is not recognized.

Any suggestions that it may be?

    Thank you
    Mike

    Hello

    This problem very strange s.
It is possible that there is a hardware failure of keyboard.
14 beeps at the beginning are very strange and as far as I know it s exceptionally on the laptop.
    I recommend you contact Toshiba.

  • Portege R830 - Trackpad/keyboard problem

HI - hope someone can help because I have only a few strands of hair left out!

In the last two weeks, a problem has developed with the trackpad - and maybe my keyboard. Here are some of the symptoms

    1. the cursor on the screen suddenly freezes. If I leave the laptop and work back, and it's not.

    2. If I tap on the keyboard (can simply press the keys or I could be typing in a document) and the cursor may freeze again. During this event the little 'mouse/trackpad' power icon flashes briefly on the screen. If I hit another key (literally anywhere on the keyboard) a number of times (not the model number) the icon can cycle and the slider moves and then freeze again.

It's as if each key on the keyboard is somehow the role of the FnF9 key.

Unfortunately I took the laptop on a business trip recently and this time after initialization the laptop - the cursor was frozen and no amount of pressure button thoughtful or random didn't get going. It is a working battery. That scared the hell out of me.

If I plug in a USB keyboard and mouse and then pressing the keys on this keyboard does not cause the cursor to freeze. But he can do anyway - as described in 1. above.

The F9 key will unlock the cursor (I guess re - turn on the trackpad) - but it won't be long before cycle back again.

I did not drop the phone. There is nothing physically wrong with her. The battery holds its charge and it starts successfully. I did no change of material during the month.

The only button on the keyboard that is not working is the mouse/trackpad power button just above the space bar. It feels a bit depressed - but I think that is how it has always been. Juggle it makes no difference to this bizarre and erratic behavior. But perhaps this is relevant.

    When I tried.

    Reinstall the trackpad driver (Synaptics).

    Reinstall the PVAT (value package).

I even tried to re-imaging of HARD drive to one of these days - and the other just after that I bought the laptop in 2012. Which should have solved if it was a software/driver problem - but it didn't.

One thing I did not, is venturing into the BIOS. Maybe there is something in them?

In Device Manager that everything is listed - no warning at all. There seems to be be no IRQ conflict.

This could be a hardware problem? I read that the keyboards on R830 are quite likely to damage/stoppage of work. A the United Kingdom popular auction site has sellers who claim to have sold more than 40! That's a lot of R830s who have had new keyboards.

I also know that a replacement is a pain, so I hope that's not it.

Someone at - it suggestions? It makes me crazy.

I google extensively and can't come up with anything either. There are the usual raft of people trying to find how to activate the trackpad or disable - but none seem to be struggling with the laptop made for them.

    Help!

    Hello

According to the description of your problem, it seems that the touchpad is disabled automatically.
As you have already mentioned, the touchpad can be enabled and disabled by using the FN + F9 key combination function

Since you have also some keyboard problems, my theory is that there is a problem of keyboard that may be responsible for the touchpad ON / OFF question.

What do you think of this theory?

I put t think there is a software problem because as you already reset the system to the point in time at the beginning (factory settings?). This is why I think that the conflict of software cannot be the reason for this.

  • Portege M600 - screenshot in stairs and noise

My Portege M600 has a recurring injury.
After that some time in the use of the screen suddenly shows columns about one inch wide and different colors.
Looks like piles of parts varicoloured.

The speakers emit a strong cry at the same time. We must hold down the switch OFF for a few seconds to shut down the computer. It will then start up normally but of course everything we worked on is lost.

Some days she did this around every half hour!
Other days, once or twice a day. Some days, not at all.

I think it might be something to do with overheating.
I have the back of the laptop has raised to facilitate airflow. Laptop is usually used on a desktop.

    The M600 is worth repairing?
    At what price maybe?

    Kind regards

    Hello

A higher internal temperature malfunction of the laptop, and Yes, the symptoms described in your post above could be caused by a high temperature.

Did ever clean you the fans in the past?
Recommend doing this using a jet of compressed air. Dust inside the ventilation may prevent air from traffic and this leads to the higher temperature.

Of course, the high temperature might be one of the reasons that may explain the origin of this problem however, check if fans of cleanup would help.

  • Portege M600 - nothing appeared on screen (after stopping on)

    Hello everyone, once again

Yes, yesterday, everything suddenly I had no voice in my Portege M600. And today, I had no computer at all!

I have no idea what is goin on. Yesterday, I've always used my laptop until about 23:00. And today, I tried to close it out around midday, but it was nothing appear on the screen. I pressed the button and the power light is on, and the light of the processor. But the light of CPU on just for a few seconds and once again off the coast. There was no noise that I use to hear when the processor is running. I leave for minutes, hoping that it will work. But it still didn't work. Then, I decided to take off the battery to shut it down, under duress.

I tried to close again for 3/4 time. But it still does not work. Nothing appears on the screen. Just the light from the power and light of the portege symbol are on (well... as I have described the processor light is on, but for just a few seconds).

    What happened to my laptop?
And how do I do now?

For more information, I live in a town near Stuttgart (Germany). I googled Toshiba Service center is in Neuss, where Neuss is far from my place. And I'm on my week review now (so it's impossible to go to Neuss). So, what should I do?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello!

    Have you tried that?
Remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter, wait up to 1 hour and then connect the battery and the AC adapter and try again.

If you n t have success with this you should go to an ASP. That s a hardware problem and maybe something has exchanged.

    Good bye

  • No audio output is installed in Toshiba Portege M600, for several times! Help, please...

    HII,

I have the Toshiba Portege M600 with Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP.1. It is about 3 years old now. This for 3 months, I experience "no audio output device is installed" repeatedly. The first three times that I feel it, it's solve by doing:
-Run-> service.msc-> restart audio windows (first occurrence; problem solved with this method)
--> Device Manager disable and then enable the controller HD audio (second instance; problem solved with this method)
(- Installed realtek third occurrence; problem solved and last for a month)
Yesterday again I have another occurrence of this problem. And this time, none of the foregoing strives to solve the problem. Now, I'm a bit desperate. Is he someone ever lived the same thing? I will very grateful if you are willing to share or have any suggestions on what I should do...
    Thank you in advance!

  • Satellite Pro C50 keyboard problems - A - 1 L 6

    Hello

I just bought this new Satellite Pro.

I have installed all the drivers and updated the bios to the latest version, but I still have the same problem: when I write, many times my keyboard writes double letters (for example, all ten words written keyboard a letter double, as "keybboard").

I tried also to change the properties of the keypad on the control panel of Windows 8, but nothing has changed.

I called support, but they just told me that I have to bring my laptop in a helpdesk: but I need my new computer to work, and I wouldn't be happy to lose at least 4 weeks!

And, support told me that, if the laptop has no hardware problem, I would have to pay for assistance...
    .
So, this is my first experience and unlucy in the world of Toshiba...
Is there someone who can give me some advice to solve this problem?
It may be a problem running on the new laptops, and someone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi guys,.

As far as I know that these similar keyboard problems in the past could be resolved by the BIOS updated.
I found the new BIOS for Satellite Pro C50 - A
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/BIOS-20140912105436.zip
    Worth a try

Another question: If someone has done to test a USB external keyboard?
In the case where the external USB keyboard would work correctly, this issue isn't associated with BIOS or keyboard controller but probably his keyboard fault internal.

  • Portege M600 - Webcam driver open fail on Windows 7

    Hello

I have a Portege M600 and already installed Windows 7 [RTM]. After that windows update works well for all material certified with Microsoft, but when I try to used by webcam, the program display an error message:
He says 'webcam driver open fail. Please restart camera or computer.

Then I stop and repeat until twice but nothing happened and shows the same error. I control peripheral works properly. I already reinstall the webcam software too.
    For any idea or suggestion?

    PS:
I used the Vista 32 software as default driver

    Thank you

    Hello

I completely agree with Akuma you should try Windows 7 beta driver for the Chicony webcam from the Toshiba page we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

But do not forget that Windows 7 isn't out yet so it s a little difficult to get drivers tested for it.

In addition, it would be interesting to know if the same thing happens with the factory settings.

    Good bye

  • Can Portege M600 - I put the CPU?

    Hi guys,.

My laptop is Portege M600, and the CPU is:

Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 at 1.66 GHZ.

My question is, extensible processor in my laptop? If so what CPU fit my machine?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Let me give you a piece of advice: before you start a new topic, you should somewhat serach using the search function of the Forum. This question was asked 100 times, I think, or more.

However, Toshiba doesn t CPU update laptops and you will lose the warranty. The motherboard and BIOS are configured for CPU preinstalled and no one is able to tell if it s support another CPU or not.
Here you can get more information: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

    Hello

It's very strange can you check if this keyboard problem happening using an external USB keyboard?

If the USB keyboard works, your problem is related to the fault of the internal keyboard. In this case it must be replaced.

    Thank you.
my laptop has active windows 8 OS

    Hi noor21

If you have similar issues using internal and external keyboard, then I recommend you to run a recovery process that would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

After this check, if your BIOS is up to date.

If the keyboard problem will always appear even if you define the laptop back to factory settings, you must contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba because the keyboard failure may be related to hardware problems.
