Portege M700 - Ultra Slim Selectbay HDD expansion?
Hello
I tried for a while to buy an adapter for my Ultra Slim Selectbay HDD in my M700-139. I can't find a buy in the United Kingdom who said that it is compatible with the M700.
Does anyone know if it is possible to buy an adapter for this Bay - and if you can, any idea where to buy from?
Thank you very much!
Hello
I found this:
http://www.shopbot.com.au/pp-Toshiba-slim-SelectBay-HDD-adaptor-pa3408u-2etc-price-93894-3626292.html
But look, man. all compatible parts and Portege M700 supported parts can be ordered from the ASP in your country.
Maybe contact the guys then you would ask this adapter.
Welcome them

In the User Guide, in the section of list of equipment control, it says "Ultra Slim Bay weight Saver (is included with some models)". And since I got a case Ultra Slim Bay (which is also included in some models), logically, it would also come with the weight of the day before. Because, when I take off my DVD player to place in the case of the Ultra Slim Bay, there is a gaping hole left in the laptop where the DVD player used to be. It is not sensible that Toshiba did not provide weight saver, it don't...?
Thanks for your help,
Joseph

PS. This message was rejected by the system because it was blasphemous? What is going on? It took me 7 tries until I decided to change my message instead. What is the problem with the system? It was VERY frustrating, and it does not tell you what part he wanted to edit! bad code... Fix it.
I m not a Portege M700 owner but I think Akuma's right. The dummy DVD Don comes only with models without DVD player, I think.
If you wish, you can contact an authorized service provider. They can order all the parts of Toshiba.
Or search you on the homepage Toshiba accessories. Maybe you will find the part number you can search with Google to find online shops they sell this part.Good luck!

Portege S100 Ultra Slim Bay HARD drive adapter take 2.5 HDD?
As the title says really, think to add a second hard drive to my portege s100, but not sure if the Ultra Slim Bay adapter HARD disk can take normal 2.5 "HDD, or just the special Ultra Slim Bay HARD drive.
Thank you
DanhHello
First of all, you need to use the HARD drive adapter selectable right Bay which is compatible with the Portege S100.
I found an and it seems that the HARD drive adapter Bay selectable PA3408U-1ETC is the right!
Case Interface is serial ATA (SATA). And the Serial - ATA 80GB HDD Kit PA3407U - 1 H 80 must be compatible with the select Bay caseMaybe you will take a peek here:

Tecra M3 and Slim SelectBay HDD adaptor
Hi all
I want to obtain a secondary hard drive for my Tecra M3. I don't use my optical drive much, so I thought I was doing the Slim SelectBay Hard Drive Adapter (PA3134U-1ETC). My question is this, will work any EIDE 2.5 "internal HD with this?
I thought of doing one of them for example:

Hello
As much as I know that the slim select bay adapter uses an IDE interface. In this case, you must use compatible hard disks IDE.
But I m not 100% sure of the size of the HARD drive. -
I was wondering, is there Posibility to use the extra HARD disk drive instead of DVD?
On * European * page, there is no sign of this combination, but on * Canadian * I found something like this...
.. .this option is also on the European page, but without any link with * M700 *.
[http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/individualOptions.do?service=EU&selCategory=4699&o ldCategory = 4699 & OPTION_ID = 110319 & toshibaShop = false & tab = 2 #2]Then maybe someone will know who is right or where to find the answer?
Correct model in which I am interested is M700-106.I could ask the same question about the battery.
Thanks for help

Portege M700 - Speed/standdard for new SSD SATA
Hello
I would like to by SSD drive for my Toshiba Portege M700-116.What dish speed SATA can I buy?
SATA 1.0 (SATA 1.5 Gb/s)
SATA 2.0 (SATA 3 Gb/s)
SATA 3.0 (SATA 6 Gb/s)Thank you
JanHello
I'm not quite sure on the SATA specification, but I think that the Portege M700 m supports SATA II HDD controller.
However, you can install like Sisoft SANDRA hardware diagnostic tools for detailed specifications of controller. But SATA is backward compatible, which means that even if you want to use a SATA III SSD, SSD drive would be recognized but speed will be limited to the performance of SATA II.

8000 elite ultra slim: greater for HP 8000 elite Ultra Slim SATA drive
I have a HP 8000 Elite Ultra Slim 10 Windows running. What size SATA HDD I can go to?
(1 TB, 500 GB, less?)
Hello:
Using the drive as boot drive, 2 TB is the maximum for the Elite 8000 series lacks a UEFI BIOS.
I'm not casual if the USDT allows for additional HDD to be used for storage only.

What is the maximum capacity of the disk for Portege M700?
Does anyone know what is the maximum capacity of disk for Portege M700?
Thanks for the reply
As I m wrong not the Portege M700 does support a SATA HDD.
In this case we must avoid any limitation of the size of the HARD disk
Usually, you can use almost all SATA 2.5 hard drives in you M700. -
Need step by step instruction how to recover the Portege M700
Hello
I have a Portege M700, aged around 4 years I want to start a new one with.
I've restored with power on and the 0 key to get to the factory, but now I guess I have to update all the drivers and get all updates Windows Update?I do?
If so, how do I?If someone could help me and give me instructions step by step on the place where from there it would be most appreciated.
Other advice on what I need to to get it working at optimum would be really useful too.
Thank you very much.
You have two options to reset the computer laptop back to factory settings:
(1) you must use the recovery disk that you can create using the Toshiba recovery media creator software. This software is always pre-installed on a Toshiba laptop.
(2) the second option is HARD drive recovery. How to use it? See this FAQ:
[How to recover a Toshiba notebook with the HDD recovery procedure | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm]Some feedback would be appreciated.

Portege M700 - protection of HARD drive problem
Hello world
I searched the net for a full day now try to find answers to this.
Note, I am an accountant and not a computer geek.I have a laptop Portege M700. I am updating from Vista to Win7.
Here's the problem:
-Initially tried to uninstall Toshiba HDD Protection via Control Panel and got the message error "internal error 2753 setupftc.exe.
-Then searched the Internet and realized that I had to stop the service first. Note that I does NOT initially stop the service in the Service Manager.
-Now went in the Service Manager to seek Protection of HARD drive and it is not at all.
-Returned east to configuration-Toshiba HDD Protection Panel is listed as a program. It will not always uninstall it... the activiates Assistant uninstaller, and after a few seconds, he simply says the same error message is ' «internal error 2753 setupftc.exe»»-a search on the internet about this error does no useful result. They underline that the registry cleaner programs. I have NOT installed the registry cleaners.
- then I went to the registry and created a backup of the registry.
Then tried all the items containing 'HDD Protection' and started deleting them hoping that it would work.
Then I tried to uninstall.
The computer popped up a message stating that a restart is required.
Tried to restart and got a blue screen.
Then restared in safemode, reloaded the old registry file and VOILA the computer is back to normal again.BUT...
I can not even uninstall HDD Protection. Get the same bloody error.-then downloaded the site Web of TOSHIBA HDD Protection file.
Try to install this file... I get the same error, i.e. "internal error 2753 setuptfc.exe.Ok.. now, I'm ready to give up.
Really, I didn't wipe my comptuer clean to do a fresh install, because it's such a big hassle. And I'm an accountant, not a computer expert so I don't know what to do for a new installation.
For the time I've wasted on this already, I probably just to find instructions on the net and then made a complete new installation. All the advice to fix it, pleeeeeeeeeeeease! : ??
Thank you.
So clean Toshiba HDD protection tool didn't help installation then some registry entries must be screwed to the top.
Believe me, best you can do is to install the OS to aid installation of HARD - disc of recovery http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm recovery mode or use if you have a.
After a clean install of Vista, everything will work correctly, and then you can start with the Win7 upgrade procedure. -
Portege A600-133 - Slim Port Replicator III does not entirely
Hello...
I just got a Slim Port Replicator III (model PA3681E-2PRP) and annexed a number of devices (a VGA monitor, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse), according to the user manual.
The unit, however, does well with my laptop (a Portege A600-133). Specifically, the laptop battery does not, the devices are not recognized and docking led remains off. However, the laptop turns on and off of the port replicator power switch, and the ethernet port also works very well.
Clues?
Thank you!
Dimitris
Hello
I also had problems with the Portege A600 and Slim Port Replikator, when I just connect, works all good! Maybe it's too you, when you try to connect to the port Slim R. you: with your hands the laptop with Slim Port R. extra press together in the Air about where the connector is, one when she makes "Clack" and then a right is connected!

Hello
Unfortunately, it is not possible to download the image of Toshiba.
Where you n t have recovery disc for your model mobile, visit this page to order this disc: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
But I don't very well if you'll be able to order the disc because of the age of the laptop of mHowever, the message: insert the disk system is displayed because the system is not installed on the Toshiba Portege laptop, that's why it asks for the disc.
Of course, you can use the clean Microsoft Windows disk to install the system, the essential drivers are available on the page of the driver Toshiba UE Toshiba image is not necessary to reinstall the system, if you are the owner of a MS Windows disc

Re: No display on Portege M700
Hello
My son put his computer bag stuffed with his laptop Toshiba Portege M700 inside his office (just out of warranty).
The laptop shows no sign of injury, but on turn it only "all the right noises", but there is no display on the screen. If the laptop is turned on with the charger connected and then some colored vertical bars appear, and then they fill with white, but nothing else.
We tried to connect an external monitor and pressing Fn + F5 and the vertical bars disappear from the internal screen and it goes totally black, but nothing appears on the external monitor. Pressing Fn + F5 new returns the vertical lines at random on the internal display.
We have also tried to start the laptop in the Mode menu without failure by pressing F8 during the initialization of the laptop, with or without an external monitor, with or without the Fn + F5, but you cannot get any video on the monitor either internal or external.
Fact it seems that maybe a connector was dislodged by the shock of the fall, that you think that the laptop is now pushing up daisies?
Any notice received with gratitude.
WIBs
To be honest I n don't know which connector you want to say but there is no pic on external displays to be a serious problem.
It seems impossible to send the video signal via the video out port.It is not easy to offer an accurate diagnosis on this virtual path.
What do you do now? Try to repair it or what?Maybe you should contact Toshiba service and ask for verification. They can run diagnostic tools and tell you what is defective, what needs to be replaced and how much it will be cool. Then you can do what to make the decision.
