Portege M800 - Touchpad light extinguishes, and comp slows

I have a Portege M800, model PPM81C-05C020.

My problem is that the light above my touchpad dims and then gradually turns off completely. When this happens, I can't use the touchpad. Fortunately, I have an external mouse plugged in, but when the Synaptics mouse turns off, it also slows down my computer. I type this post very slowly and it still takes forever for words on the screen to catch up as I type. I thought that maybe the driver was somehow defective, so I went on the Toshiba site and tried to download the driver for this series of laptop and then restarted, but it did not help. I ran various programs to ensure there is no registry errors, but they all come back clean.

I don't know what to do. I brought to a place of computer before and they managed to fix it, but 2 months later, the problem is recurring. Help! : S

Hello

This driver you downloaded from the official website of Toshiba?

I would recommend a driver update from the official website of Toshiba touchpad:
http://www.Toshiba.ca

And interesting to know what OS you have.

    Hello

In windows 7 the touchad does not work properly, which means I can't scroll pages by dragging my finger on the edges of the touchpad. It worked perfectly witn Vista and now it isn't. I have the 64 bit version.

I tried new drivers, but there aren't any. How should I solve this?

    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

You have the most recent driver for the touchpad? Usually the Vista drivers also work on Windows 7.

  • Defective screen on Portege M800

I bought a PORTEGE (M800-107) in 2009 and before the expiration of the 3-year-old warranty (2012), the screen went black all the time.
I sent it to the official service of TOSHIBA in Greece (called "IDEAL his '), who fixed it in about a month (and after two attempts).
A year and a half later, the screen went black again. Now they ask me 500 euros for the replacement of the screen. Of course I won't give all these money.
Portege was the 3rd Toshiba laptop, I used. I chose it because I wanted something powerful and professional. The irony is that the more expensive model has exploded sooner than the cheapest.
However, it was the LAST ONE on your part.

PS: in order to take my laptop (without attachment), I have to pay 30 euros for check technicians!
Really, you know someone who goes to the service for fun? Or I am responsible for the failure of your model?

    Hello

To be honest I m was really asking you this display problem. Portege and Tecra are the best notebooks of Toshiba business line and for years, they are known as products of high quality with the best material.

Anyway, sometimes the best products have problems and be in trouble. Similar things happen with all technical products. I know that's enough damage and angry, especially in the time when you need your laptop.

Maybe it sounds stupid now, but maybe you can buy view on your own and find someone who can exchange it for you. I did it for my friend a few years ago. We purchased watch on eBay and we exchanged it alone. Of course on our own risk.

    Bye and good luck

  • Re: Portege M800 - light does not

I have a Portege M800 and the lights to the right of the power button won't turn off - even if the machine is completely turned off and unplugged from the power supply cable.

I tried updated of the VAP and BIOS of downloads and have used the BIOS to turn off the power of LED lighting and tried to use Dimmer.EXe.

They all turned off light Portege itself and the light above the touch pad, but not the 6 lights to the right of the power button.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Firstly, it must ensure that the latest version of the BIOS is installed.
If you are using the latest version of the BIOS, then try this:

Please, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Then wait some time, two, three hours.
Then reconnect battery and AC adapter.

Check the BIOS settings (set by default)
After this attempt to activate or disable the new lighting

  • TouchPad overheating the Portege M800

    Hello

    We bought a * {color: #0000ff} Portege M800 (PPM80G-03F00M) {color} * recently.

The touchpad and the sides of the touchpad are is heated during normal use. The heat is more than what is normal.

All the solutions for this? Please, I beg you.

    Thanks and greetings
    Devanand

    Hello

You know that the opinions are different and for me a question may be normal, but for you extreme negative or bad. Problem is that this little book has specific construction and I can imagine that the area around the touchpad is hot.

You use your laptop with docking station?
Do you use this laptop for each day's work like Internet, office or to run some complex graphic applications?

In any case if you think that it is not normal that I recommend you contact Toshiba authorized service nearest. They can use the diagnostic programs and check if there is a serious problem or not.

    I use a Portege M800-116 under XP - SP3.

    Problem 1:
Connection Line-Out to a stereo system and play music with Winamp or WinMediaPlayer works fine on battery.
As soon as I connect the power adapter, a whistle loud high frequency and UM static disrupts the experience.

    Problem 2:

    Hi, fly,

I m not Portege M800 owner so I can t he test for you, but I think that if the problem occurs only when the AC adapter is connected, it s a grounding problem

    You have 3-pin or 2-pin AC/DC adapter?
As far as I know in this case you need 3-pin AC/DC adapter and power cord.

You should ask an ASP in your country. Guys can order a new AC/DC adapter and check your laptop to what the problem is exactly.

    Hello

I m not a Portege M800 owner but normally I would say that you should try to update the BIOS and install all Windows updates, but you already have it not.

What can you do now? If you have installed your own version Windows try again with the factory settings. Maybe it has something to do with software or then I don't know m.

If it doesn t work I think you'll need professional help to an authorized service provider. Technicians can check your parts defective laptop hardware and trade if it of necessary.

  • Portege M800-106 - bad quality by using the external monitor

I use an external monitor LG Flatron L1811S on my Portege M800 and find that the image is not rock solid when I use the display on my desktop or screen of the M800.
It is particularly visible on the big patches of color block where I can see shimmering light. I noticed that it's especially bad if I recently reconnected the laptop to the network after using on battery power until the battery is fully charged.

This makes me think that the PSU interferes with the VGA output?
    Any ideas?

    Thank you

To be honest I m more important lack of information in your ad.
Are you using the native resolution - 1280 x 1024 / 75 Hz on screen?

I am owner of the Toshiba Portege M800-105. Everything done his work. After 2 months working on it, my sensitive touchkeys exposed next to the POWER button does not work. After that I uninstalled 'Vista-value-added-package' everything works correctly. Why? Now my FN keys do not work or are disabled. Why?

    Hello guys

This is really strange. I put t really know what happen on your laptops. The fact is that these buttons are controlled by the software. If I remember well he called support Button or a button control and she is part of the package of added value.

VAP contains several different tools and utilities. When you remove the VAP, it will be removed the responsible application of the functionality of FN (Flashcards), and this is the reason why the FN doesn't work anymore.

So, theoretically everything should be OK when you install PPV again. Again theoretically. Why you still have this problem I put t know and I don t believe that no one can say for sure. Maybe some registry entries are corrupted now? Who knows?

I presume that you don t want to use a more radical solution and do clean install of the new OS, but it can certainly help. With own OS pre-installed (factory settings) everything works well again.

In the end, I must say that I use Satellite U400 (similar to your Portege) almost 6 months now and all the buttons work correctly. I always use the Vista version and I n t made no changes. It works well.

  • Portege M800-108 - LAN does not

    Hello all :)

First of all, I'll post my information system
Portege' M800-108 Windows Vista 32-bit Service Pack 1, with all the latest updates
Router DLink DSL G624T no DHCP

I got my laptop connected to my router this morning with LAN cable, and everything worked great. When I returned home, I connected the laptop to the router and the LAN was not working. The LED on the router would be clear ON and then turn off and then ON and OFF again, as if the PC is looking for a connection.
I used all of the 4 ports on the router, I've used different cables and the problem is still there.
The LAN driver is the most recent available.
WLAN works very well on the contrary.

Any suggestion? Is this a HW problem?

    TNX a lot.

You said that the s light will light up and then move offshore, on and outside.
This happens on all 4 ports?

Normally, when this happens on a router or a switch which means that the router is defective.
    But you can try this:
Unplug the router AC adapter. Wait at least 1-2 minutes and plug it back on again once.
Maybe the router is working properly, and if not, you should change.

    Hi l_vasic,

Have you checked the BIOS? AFAIK you can also enable or disable these keys to enlightenment. It must be enabled

Otherwise, it would be interesting to know what operating system you are using.
Have you downloaded package of added value for Portege M800?
