    Hello.

I have a Satellite L505 - 14K on which I need to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium, but Windows key on the label is unreadable. Could I get a replacement for it?

Also I can not read the HARD drive Windows code because it has been formatted before that I get this laptop in my hands...
Maybe I can get either a phone number or e-mail address to a branch of Toshiba Polish, so I could communicate with them in this case?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Toshiba doesn't provide the keys to series for windows systems. On the label, you'll find the serial OEM key but this key cannot be used for activation of the system.
Toshiba offers a clean recovery image that already contains the active Windows System.

This recovery disk can be ordered here:

  • Portege 4000 - Installed - XP cannot read dvd

I installed XP as a clean install on a 4000 Portege that previously had 98SE top.

Now I am unable to play dvd in Windows Media Player and get a message that there need a MPEG-2 decoder, but Microsoft transfer me a site where I have to pay: [http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx#DVDDecoder].

Is there a way to get around this?

The cd works well, and it doesn't seem to be a necessity for an acoustic muffler for now.

    Hello

If you need a MPEG-2 decoder then I recommend you to install some codec packs.
+ K - Lite Mega Codec Pack + contains everything you need (and more) codecs.

    You should try it.

PS: Why you don't use no matter what players left 3rd? For example the * VLC player * is free and it's a great player. He manages all possible files.

I stuck my sticker by my way of thinking of table that is the safest place to place, but it seems that someone scratched the sticker. Is it possible that I can get back my cd key. And my Windows is genuine as well. Help someone.

Unfortunately, you will need to purchase a new license, if your OEM sticker is missing.

If your computer is pre-installed with Windows 7, you can use the reinstall Windows 7 without referencing the OEM product key:

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    ------------------------------------

This is how the recovery partition is available for the most popular brands

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

    -----------------------------

If its an OEM System Builder License and you had entered the product key, you can retrieve it:

  • Cannot load Windows 7 after installation of 2 critical updates (KB2436673 & KB2296199) - 0x800f0816 error Code

At 03:00 today, my computer automatically up-to-date with 8 updated reviews.  The computer unused satellite, power, up to 15:00 when I got home, date on which windows was trying to 'fix', because windows could not be loaded.  I did a system restore to a point before the updates were installed (02:00).  Goodbye My observer of events and concluding that none of the updates have been installed correctly, I have taken note of the errors for each (most were 0x800f0816, but we've been 0 x 80242016) and went through each update individually and install.  Two of these updates will not be installed.  After the system restart after installing, windows attempts to load.  The system automatically restarts and begins to repair windows.  Windows repair indicates that the system cannot be repaired automatically.  I chose a restore point from before the 'bad' updates are installed, and everything is fine.

I get the same error for the two KB2296199 of KB2436673 & failed installs: 0x800f0816.

Is it possible to fix this?  Or I'm just not going to install it these updates?  It is a newly built computer (last week), all the new kit stripped of equipment, new OS.  I have very little installed on this system.  I found no information regarding this error code or the latest MS updates online, or if anyone else has similar problems.

Any response would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    J.

Of course, if you cannot start the computer, uninstall the updates would be moot & system restore (or 'last good' known) would be your only recourse.

  • Missing USB. The Windows XP SP3 Installation INF file

I had problems to install USB devices and after a long-term task and it narrowed the field down, I discovered why.

I don't have USB. INF file in my Windows/Inf directory.

Annoyingly, my setup is not an I386 directory, and my XP disks are stored in a box somewhere that I'm travelling right now.

I need to get a copy of the USB right. File INF for XP SP3 - I downloaded a couple, but they did not...

Anyone knows where I can get it online, or could send me a link or send me a copy?

    Thank you

    Matt

Try to get the smart-inf of your manufacturer of computers or the chip-maker (for example Intel)

If you do not lnow what chip you have Intel has routine to check the chip chip-inf

I have a similar problem, but still not resolved, apparently SP3 do not update or keep the inf files...

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.

    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.

I found some memory conflict messages in the display driver. Could be the problem?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Russ

    Hello

    To answer your questions:

    1. where can I put the files so that they can install on startup?
You should not put all the files in the startup as this problem may occur if there is a problem with updates to install.

    2. How can I disable acceleration 3D (from start)?
Tell us why you need to disable 3D acceleration?
    3. What is the problem you are having with the display drivers?
    4. What is the exact error message?

In the meantime you can follow these methods below and check if the method solves the problem.
    Method 1:

Check the history windows update to find the error code for updates failed. Make a right-click on the update failed, and then click view
    To do this:
    a. click on start ORB
    b. type of line Windows Update search
    c. click on Windows Update
    d. Select view update history

    Method 2:

You can run run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and check if the problem.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

  • Portege R100 - question about the installation of the USB port and Windows problems

    Hello

I just bought a used Portege R100, but I have some problems. Of course the laptop isn't a CD or DVD, player so I tried an external DVD drive, but it did not work. What kind of device I have to install Windows (not an edition of recovery or anything like that, but a whole new windows on the formatted HARD drive)?

I also have another problem: whenever I plug a USB device (I tried the DVD drive external and a USB keyboard) when I start the laptop, it seems to hang. At least, I am not able to type anything more; the keyboard of the laptop is dead (the point where the entrance would still be flashing in the BACK platform, but typing. sth on the keyboard isn't doing anything). It is not normal, is it?

I also tried to get to the BIOS, but I tried various commands (F1 to F12, DEL etc.), but I couldn't access the BIOS. It would be great if someone could tell me the command for it.

Thanks in advance for the help and sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native speaker :)

as long as you are working in an environment with appropriate back-drivers back, you can use any kind of external (USB or pcmcia) CD player you want

the bios is accessible by pressing ESC and the Start button

Try to remove the USB entries in Device Manager, and then restart the device. The ports should be recognized and installed correctly. In my view, it cannot happen without any reason. It will be interesting to know since when this problem started.
