Portege R100 - how to create a bootable SD card?

Hello

I'm trying to update my BIOS of v1.40 to v1.60. I don't have an external floppy drive, or a CD-Rom. I downloaded both versions of the bios upgrade. The version of windows does not install, coming up with an error of not being able to run in V86 mode.

I read in some places to a SD card bootable using the Boot SD and a 2,88 MB image. Where can I find this picture? And how to add the update to the BIOS for it? Or what is the problem with the BIOS update, I downloaded?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

Hello

You can create a bootable SD card using the SD start utility which is preinstalled on some Toshiba units. But as far as I know with this card, you can start only to the DOS mode and there is no image on the SD card! Moreover, I don t think you can upgrade the BIOS with an SD card. To update the BIOS, you need a compatible floppy drive.

What are supported readers for this device:

You will find a description how to update the BIOS:

  • Portege M500 - how to create recovery DVDs?

    Hi there :)

I bought Toshiba Portege M500. Anyone know how to create a CD/DVD of recovery on this model?

I installed the "recovery CD creator" but - I just can't create it. The only thing that came on the screen is: Qosmio Player recovery CD.

On the help page - there are instructions to create the disk - but the options were not available to me. (i.e. the system recovery disc option)

Help, please! I would really appreciate it!

    Hello

Portege M500 was equipped with HARD drive recovery option?
Did you find the information you need to create a recovery disk in the user's manual?

Where did you find the "Toshiba recovery CD creator"?
    This tool has been pre-installed?

I guess that there is no image on the HARD drive files that are needed to create the recovery disk Toshiba and so you can't create it.

  • Portege R100 - how to install after Exchange of HARD drive?

    Hello world
I'm new to this forum and I want to know exactly where I'm wrong. I have this portege r100 laptop and the hard drive gave a few days ago. Because I am a novice when it comes to computers, I left the laptop with an engineer, that I found on Kijiji.
Unfortunately, the engineer could not load any operating system on it. I go through this forum and loads found useful answers, but alas, still the same problem.
Could someone guide me in the right direction. I would be really grateful that I have exams coming next week and really need the laptop.

I don't have any CD-ROM compatiable only an external floppy drive.
I tried to install using the windows startup disk (x 6 downloaded from the microsoft Web site), but after the 6 disc it asks me 3 options.

    1. press ENTER to install
    2. recovery console option of
    Output 3.F3

When I press on enter is not superimposed my cd rom which I figured out is not compatiable. If I leave the connected cd rom it says unmountable boot disk. It gives me a bsod. Is there another way, I could install the operating system using only the FDD.
I'd appreciate it really all the help of the experienced members of this forum.
    Thank you.

First of all, you can not use any external CD/DVD drive... you must use a compatible and recommended by Toshiba.

Secondly, I you could try to connect the HARD drive to another computer using the USB caddy.
Then copy the i386 to the HARD disk folder.
Then, you can run the winnt.exe file to start the Setup program.

Once configuration is complete plug the HDD to the Portege and tries to start
It is only theory, but maybe it won't work

  • How to create a bootable recovery discs recovery partition?

OK, I found a few old recovery disc for Windows Vista professional for Compaq 6720 s.

    (2) my version of the partition is Vista. I've updated to Windows 7. How do the Vista recovery partition 7?

Any recovery partition is created by the PC manufacturer and nothing to do with MS

No win version, upgrade or install clean, has already created a recovery partition

  • PROTECTED R100: How to start OS on PCMCIA card

Long story short: I need to start an operating system (any OS - BACK/LINUX) on my R100 to something other than the HARD drive.

Listed in the BIOS boot options are FDD (don't have - not sure if Toshiba even did), CDROM (mine is defective), network (I would rather avoid that road) and the HARD drive. The suboption HDD has "PC Card" and "HARD drive built-in" option.

It would seem that the best option is to use the disk with the "PC Card" Option.
I'm assuming that this means that the PCMCIA card slot and assuming that I can use a PCMCIA flash memory card.
So a PCMCIA card with an OS bootable on the subject can be seen in Solution Explorer, however, trying to make it boot from it I get a message "insert system disk".

    My questions are:
-I am correctly understand the BIOS option and the r100 is supposed to start out of a PCMCIA card, if you have selected the option "HDD/PC Card.
-You have to do something special to make the bootable PCMCIA card?

This PC is retired without a solution here, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    JSM

    Hey Buddy

The R100 may use the PCMCIA port to start the external PCMCIA CD/DVD drive and you can use this port to boot from external HDD PCMCIA.
To be honest I have boot t n of the PCMCIA HDD but this should be possible.
In addition, the operating manual must contain some details about this theme
    Did you check that?

    If this isn't it!

  • Portege Z30 - how to create the new partition on SSD

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Portege Z30 with a 512 MB SSD. In addition to the C partition, I would D for the work and E for personal stuff.

By default, the laptop came with only C, but the disc already has 4 partitions:
-a healthy active recovery of 1.46 GB partition
    -c a partition
    -a 16 GB Hibernation partition
-a healthy 11.55 GB primary partition called drive HARD recovery when I use MiniTool Partition Wizzard

I managed to get 300 GB of unallocated space, but I can not use this space to create D and E, apparently because the MBR does not support more than 4 partitions.

Question: should I have all these partitions Toshiba? Is there a workaround for D and E? Can I create a USB drive recovery system and get rid of the recovery partition?

    Thank you

Before starting any discussion, I hope you didn t screwed up something. Why?

When you get laptop it has the factory settings and just with the factory settings, you will be able to create a media recovery (DVD or USB depending on the model). I hope this isn't too late now.

Try to create a recovery media as soon as possible please.
Post it please comment how it works. I hope that everything will be OK.

  • How to create a bootable DVD/USB since the recovery Partition?

    Hi guys,.

So, I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-141 (of Greece) and my broken hard drive. Unfortunately, I lost my recovery discs. I changed my hard drive, I installed the operating system, but I would like to have my computers it was (with all crapwares... Wink)

I found a guy with the same laptop and it can send the recovery disc. In fact, he has already sent the disc 2 (he sent me two copies of his CD online) that he created when he bought the laptop (by recovery media creator). However, these discs are not bootable and (I read) that you use just them and when you restart the system through the Recovery Wizard. Unfortunately, it has not worked for me (at least with the CD of my friend sent me).

Do you know some way that I can do? I want to get my friend a recovery disk? Can he create an ISO of the recovery partition?

    Any suggestion is welcome!

  • How to create USB bootable for installing Windows 7?

    Hello world

I run Windows 7 and want to reinstall but did not a resumption of discs and missing hard disk image. I got a copy of Windows 7 and tried to make a bootable usb key with WinSetupFromUSB and Novicorp_20WinToFlash programs but without success. Is there another method to do?
The Bios supports the USB key.

    Thank you

Sorry for my English (I'm German)

    Hello

I don't know why you can't make a bootable USB stick with the programs you mentioned. It is very easy. The link suggested by peterk_1 is also useful and can help you.

You can also try to do as below:

    1. Insert the USB key which should not be less than 4 GB for Windows 7.
2 run as administrator at the command prompt.
3 type Diskpart and press ENTER, then List Disk and Enter. You will see the disc all available, including Usb flash on your computer. In my case, usb flash is determined as disk 1 in your may be disc 2, so type:

If yours is disc 2 you choose select disk 2 (thus, in each order line)

SELECT the DISC 1 press enter

    CLEAN, press enter

    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY, press enter

    SELECT PARTITION 1 press enter

    ACTIVE press enter

FORMAT FS = NTFS press Enter

Note for quick formatting, you can use FS = NTFS QUICK

    ASSIGN, press enter

    EXIT, press enter

Do not close the command prompt window, disc insert Windows 7 dvd and check what letter is assigned to the cd/dvd drive. In my case, you s F:

    So:

Type in F: and press ENTER, then

F:\ BOOTSECT. EXE NT60 H: H;? is assigned to the USB key into your computer, it may be another letter.

Now, you just need to copy all the folders on windows dvd disc. That's all

    Alles Gute!
