Portege R100 laptop computer does not start after a while without food

Hello

Well there is some time, I bought a beautiful used R100 - a laptop Toshiba in passing - but now, she has developed an annoying problem. Whenever it disconnect the laptop from the power supply for more than 2 hours about (don't know if this is not longer) I can't begin the R100, even if the battery indicator is green. After pressing the powerbutton the power led lights in green, and nothing happens. The "solution" to this problem is to give the R100 some time in this 'turned on' - State and after 15 minutes, I am able to start the computer (turn market again).

I think that this could be a problem with a battery on the motherboard that is at its limits and needs time to gather enough power to start the computer.

I hope you can help me identify the problem with my beloved laptop :)

Yours,

Tobias

p.s. I have more or less need to identify the problem and some tips how to solve - the pleasure with the surgery will be from me :)

p.p.s. Unlike the problem of the M400 further down, I've won if the beginning focused on the hard disk to Flash. In my case the R100 does not give a glance if it does not start. - And as a reference to the other post: "Hmm, I don't remember of the R100 fan not have it at all" * huggs its r100 * "."
And I tried unplugging all the bits of the laptop and removed the battery, waited 15 minutes and tried to turn it on. the only way to obtain the departure of r100 is the method described above.

You have an additional RAM installed?

Maybe you need to re-seat, or it has a intermittent or heat associated with problem.

    1. computer does not start after the Windows XP logo window
2 works well in safe mode, even connect to the external monitor
    3. I reinstalled xp many times, problem stil exist.

    All the answers?

    Hi dhanushm,

    1. What happens after the Windows logo screen?
    2. You receive an error message?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?
    4. Have you performed an installation clean Windows XP and even after that this problem exists?

    Method 1

As the computer starts up fine in safe mode there is a possibility that some third-party programs installed on the computer is the origin of the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

  • Compaq 6200 PRO MT: Makes the computer does not start after upgrade CPU

I have the HP Compaq 6200 PRO PC of MT 615114-001 motherboard and processor Intel Celeron CPU (LGA 1155). After I changed the CPU for Intel Core i5 (LGA 1155) computer does not start. He begins a minute (less than one second) and stops again. No beeps. After you have installed the Celeron back everything works fine. i5 CPU is brand new. What can be?

In my previous post, I explained the reason it has not worked, and listed the CPU that will work.

HP tests CPU in the laboratory and publishes a list of processors that will work in a notebook.

Notebook motherboard BIOS has a list of processors that will work. If it is installed, which is not encoded as OK in the BIOS ROM file, then this will not work.

Processors published (in the maintenance guide & Service for your nttebook series model) are available in models that can be deilvered in State CTO (configured to order).

  • Computer does not start after running the utility Boot Lenovo.

    Hello
I replaced the power supply with a CX550M of Corsair, increased memory by exchanging the 4 GB to 8 GB for a 16 GB total, I added a hybrid 2 TB Seagate HDD and all worked fine until yesterday, about 1 month.
Yesterday, I decided to run all the tests of the Lenovo startup disk and after that I restarted, the computer does not start.
When I press the power button, the fan starts and it stops after 3 or 4 seconds and nothing happens, the monitor says no signal, I removed the external USB disk and printer, I reoved the second drive and the same thing heppens.
Any idea what this problem could be? Would it be a bad power supply?
    Thank you

    Mario

Resolved, I erased the memory CMOS, moved to following ankle boot, back up the cmos.

    Thank you

  • Z600: computer does not start after the installation of the 5 TB SATA drive

My z600 refurbished does not start after the installation of a SATA of Toshiba 5 to disk.  After removing the drive, the computer starts.  I have my computer too old to handle a 5 TB drive, I something wrong or is the DOA drive?

Thanks for the info.  I added the GPT to my search and discovered what had to be done in disk management.  Here is a page with step by step instructions and photos.  http://www.howtogeek.com/193669/whats-the-difference-between-GPT-and-MBR-when-partitioning-a-drive/

  • You can save a broken computer? My computer does NOT start after the blue hp screen.

In the past months, my computer has been the object of a freezing randomly, and Ctrl + Alt + Delete does not work. I stopped him via the power button. Sometimes, when I start it again, the computer moniter shows nothing but a black screen and the computer sounds different when it starts normally. When this happens, I turn it off again hit the left side of the desktop and turn on again. Whenever I do this, the computer starts normally, and I go on the computer use.

Yesterday morning, after a break of 2 days, acess my computer and it is random freezing thing once again. I force close down as one normally do, and the computer does not start and displays the same black screen and the same fan/air weird sound. I stopped him and I hit the side RIGHT this time, I think and when I turn on the computer, the usual blue HP screen appears with the establishment, boot, diagnostics and system recovery things. HOWEVER, after this screen, a black screen will appear with this weird blue symbol on the upper left corner, I have never seen this and it looks like a circle with a triangle and a Pentagon below and it remains essentially on this screen forever. When I try to hit the establishment, boot, diagnostics and the shortcuts to system recovery, on the lower left side of the screen, it says "Menu boot loading...". ' or whatever the shortcut of loading represents, but nothing ever happens. When I press the other keys, this tapping noise comes from the computer at each tap of the keyboard.

I have no idea what to do, and at this point, my first priority is to save important files on the computer. Does anyone know what is the problem? I want her more than a problem of system rather than a virus problem because refusing the boot black screen thing lasts for years. My computer is 3-4 years. I enclose a sketch of what looks like the weird symbol.

    MY COMPUTER WORKS NOW!

With the flash drive, I was able to access the BIOS, which before, I couldn't.

Eventually my computer was in some strange sort of lockdown setting, I switched it back to activate and now its work! I remember save important things in the future. Thank you very much for your help!

  • Computer does not start after installing a new graphics card

I am owner of a HP Pavilion H8-1020 with a processor intel i7 - 2600 s Windows 7 and am trying to upgrade my Radeon hd 6570 to a Gigabyte AMD Radeon R9 280 OC. I improved my diet for a Corsair CX750 to meet the requirements of power and installed with number. After the installation of the new card, which as far as I can tell is well seated in the pci slot and correctly connected to the PSU, my computer does not start.

System powers on, all fans of begin to run including the fans on the new graphics card, but it does not begin the boot process, no entry is received at my monitors, no light on the keyboard, my OS starts loading, I can turn off the system without the delay that will flow normally. Then I reinstalled my old graphics card and the computer started as usual.

Now, assuming that the card is not DOA, which unfourtunatly I have no way to verify, and I'd like to see if it could be another problem before going through the process of restitution. I did some reading on the internet, which helped, but did not help for a technological neophyte like me.  Now, I know a few things that could cause this problem but lack the necessary skills to determine what question is making me. What I've read, these could be possible questions:

1: my new graphics card is not compatible with my motherboard. It's something I know now that I should have checked before buying and something I should theoretically be able to do it now, but I am at a loss on how to do it. My card is compatible with my motherboard?

2 could be a BIOS problem. I updated my bios driver with the version provided by the HP site. I am running FRIEND 7.16 05/10/2011.  And from what I've read it might have something to do with my bios to UEFI mode and I would need to go to a legacy mode so he can recognize a new device, is it true? I am extremely wary of messing with my BIOS settings for fear of bricking my system. How can I check my current BIOS settings are and what I should change and how would approach I change them? Will one of these changes affect my system if they are not what is not causing the problem?

In addition to these issues, anyone know any other matter which may be the cause of the problem that I should look for? Thanks for any help.

    Hello @Eric_Z,

I can see why you are having problems with your new graphics card, and to get to the fast response that your motherboard is not compatible with the new graphics card that you have purchased. And here's why.

Your motherboard according to the page HP Pavilion HPE h8-1020 Desktop PC product specifications is the Carmel motherboard, which has the following expansion slots:

    • A PCI Express x 16
    • Three PCI Express x 1 connectors
    • A PCI Express Mini Card x 1

As there is no version indicated for your PCI Express x 16 it slot means that it is version 1.

Now, your previous graphics card was a PCI Express 2.1 x 16, which means that it was version 2 and compatible with your PCI Express x 16 slot on your motherboard. However, the new card is PCI Express 3.0 and will not work in your motherboard due to a compatibility break. While the technology is supposed to be compatible there are many cases where it is not, and I'm afraid that you meet one of these cases.

I am offering an overclock.net article entitled: the final answer to the controversial compatibility of PCIe x 16 version. where your situation has been tested and examined.

I hope this helps. Have a great day and thank you for display on the HP Forums!

  • M127FW MFP: Computer does not start after the installation of the MFP M127FW

My computer does not start on my hard drive after installation of my new printer MFP M127FW unless I have first of all disconnect the USB cable between the printer and then turn on the computer.  My BIOS is set to boot from my drive hard, not from a USB key, so that makes installing the drivers M127FW MFP and software do on my computer?  I guess it has something to do with the Smart Install feature.

"On the printer, press Setup, maintenance, Smart Install and stop."

    It worked.  Thank you.

  • computer does not start after installing video card

I, m new here so please bear with me.  I have a PC HP Pavilion Media Center TV (m7434n) I'm trying to replace the video card (Nvidia GeForce 6200SE with Turbo Cache) in. I am trying to replace it with a Nvidia EVGA 8400GS. I delete all the nvidia drivers, make sure that the pci-e card is used in the implementation. I have then to remove the old card and install a new one. When I try to start the computer, fans turn on but that's all.  There is nothing on the monitor.  The computer does not start. I replaced the power supply bestec 300 watts with a new antec brand 430 watt power supply.  When I reinstalled the old video card, the computer starts ok. I tried to replace the video card with an ATI Radeon HD5550 too and it's the same thing (the computer would not start), reinstall the old card and it starts up fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Gary,

You may have a compatibility issue with the ATI HD 5550 and 2006 PC model.  I've seen other posts where ATI 5xxx video card did not work in older HP PCs.

When you are referring to the installation of the older video card do you mean going back to the integrated video card?  Moving the video cable to the card installed?

Install the NVIDIA 8400GS and connect the video cable. Now follow the instructions for clear the CMOS.

  • HP pavilion laptop computer does not start

When I turn on my laptop it does not start. It goes to a blue screen that indicates it should be repaired. Help please

    Hello

Error code 24 characters long drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the startup problem you describe.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

A few weeks ago, I turned on my PC and it showed at the Compaq screen and then went to a blank screen & would not respond. I held the switch button to turn it off and after 4 attempts, it start fine. Next time, it took 20 attempts to initialize and now it does not start, it will be maybe if I try like 100 times he can do... The problem is when the Compaq screen comes up it comes only for like a second so I know that it does not start, if the Compaq screen stays for a few seconds as 3 + I know it will load windows and start.

History > the computer originally had XP and has been replaced with VISTA memory was 2 * 512MB, but it was a bit slow and I was advised to upgrade. I bought 2 * 1 GB memory and put it in my PC a few months there may be 5 + had no problem so far.

    I tried the following:

Remove the memory and replace it. Remove the 2 * 1 GB of memory and its replacement by the Moose 2 * 512MB to check if the memory is at fault.

Cleaning of the dust around the fan (at this point, I removed the fan over the CPU and cleaned the thermal compound from the CPU to make it nice and shiny, only tried to start one time after that for a few seconds heard blowing fan and turend it took off.
