Portege R100: RTC battery replacement

Problem: On my computer laptop Portege R100 the RTC battery needs to be replaced (laptop loses date and time system start-up after having done automatically stop when the batteries were empty).

Question: I am trying to figure if this RTC battery is easily replaceable, i.e. I can order it from my dealer and can their technician quickly/easily replace the battery or is this battery soldered to the motherboard and replacement has so to do by Toshiba technicians, which means that my laptop will be gone for a few weeks?

Thanks a lot for any input.

Hello

As I know the RTC battery is not soldered on the card mother but only connected with the cable. To remove the CMOS battery, you have to disconnect the cable from battery RTC PJ8760 on the system board and remove the battery from the RTC to the RTC battery.

All that s. But if you have no experience in these things you shouldn't t replace yourself. The safe option is to contact the Toshiba service partner to change the battery. Here, you can also order one compatible

Eh, it's that old laptop model.
I presume you have disassembled the machine full, right?

RTC battery is placed on the system board. For the RTC battery free you need to disconnect the speaker of PJ16 beam. It is covered with adhesive tape. RTC battery is connected to the PJ12. It is covered with insulation of RTC.

I hope that this some info will help you find the way to remove the RTC battery.

  • Satellite 300CDS - RTC battery replacement

    Hello

I think that the RTC battery in my old laptop satellite 300CDS died and I want to replace it, because the date system is lost if I don't use the computer for a while. The battery itself seems relatively easy to find on online shops (Varta standard part).

I did, however, find a manual with enough detail on how to "disassemble" the computer without the risk of damaging it.

Do you have such a guide or manual?

    Thank you
    Maxim

I think this RTC battery replacement is a bit risky and you should be careful, because you could damage other parts.
If you don't know how to replace these batteries, you should always ask a technician for laptop for support and assistance.
In most cases, this service is not very expensive and you can be sure that your computer will work correctly after this procedure.

  • Satellite P100-423 - RTC battery replacement

I'm happy enough to replace the CMOS / RTC on Satellite P100-423 battery because the device is out of warranty and the battery needs to be replaced.
Le-423 is a build of Costco and not much found after the mandatory, manual Google and research forum.

Can anyone recommend a type satisfying to do this, no clue on the former.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Are you sure that the RTC battery is replaceable?
I ask this question because as much as I know it is not possible on all s models and if it is replaceable you can find the specs on the battery itself if you disassemble the laptop.

Normally, this battery can be charged if you leave the AC/DC adapter plugged in for 24 hours. Have you already tried?

  • Cell G6 RTC battery replacement

Can anyone provide a link to a video for REPLACED the RTC battery in my notebook pavilion g6, thx!

    Hello

Here is the Service Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02829479.pdf

Go to Page 49, he'll show you the replacement procedure.
Just remove the battery & door service, there will be a clip holding it. Just release it to get out of the cell.
But in the video and the thread that I posted above, a group holding cell has been described. But who is not in the product manual. I think there is no problem with that, you could just pick it out by releasing the clips.

  • Large capacity of Portege R100 defective battery - LED would not turn

    Hello

I recently bought a large battery capacity Toshiba for a replacement Dock Slim for my R100, Toshiba #PA3155.

It was sold like new on eB *, but after installing to mmy R100, the LED for battery 2' wont turn on I tried to find a faulty contact but they look all "new" battery was supplied with stock Connectror coverage, so nothing seems to be broken.

Maybe it's the high-capacity battery is broken? It takes some time until what he charged to somestate and then it will be recognized by my R100?

I would be happy to answer, because if the thing is broken, I need to return and do another fight on eBay... :(

That's right, the second battery attached will not charge until one is not fully charged.

Would be nice if you check this (just leave your machine a long day to charge two batteries) and give a short answer if kjo was right. :)

  • Portege M100 - how to replace the RTC battery?

Hello, my Portege M100 RTC battery is flat. I managed to order one of the internet, but I can't locate. I disassemble almost every part of the computer, but if someone could just guide me and give the procedure to replace, that would be great. Thanks in advance!

    Hi friend

It s easy to replace the RTC battery on your machine. I already did and I had no problem when replacing, I mean it's a bit difficult to find the batt. but I will give all that to my experience. ;)

First look at the wireless lan card, West a slot under the slot lies the minipci wlan card. Near the wireless lan card slot is somewhat on the cover, this cover must be removed (quietly). The RTC battery is located in a white insulator, but before you peel this small battery, you must disconnect the battery from the motherboard. After unplugging it, simply lift the RTC and place a new.

That's all, unfortunately I can't serve you with some photos, so you'll have to imagine yourself. ;)

    Good luck and welcome

P.s.: If you feel uncomfortable by replacing the batt, then ask some tech to help you.

  • CMOS / RTC battery for Satellite A100-326?

    Hello

    I'm after a CMOS/RTC battery replacement for my A100-326

I had my machine open and find the battery, but there is no model number on it.

I contacted Toshiba support center and they told me that the battery is part of the Board of Directors and management as a whole needs to be replaced. However, if I can find the reference to the battery, I have a friend in a computer store that will replace it with a new one.

Any help would be great. Thank you!

  • Portege R100 - missing some drivers Ethernet Controller Win XP

The hard drive failed on my Portege R100, so I replaced and installed Windows XP.
The only problem is that I'm missing some drivers, so I can't get into the Internet - significantly Device Manager indicates problems with the Ethernet controller.

Is there a place to get these missing drivers? I don't even know what to look for to resolve part Ethernet controller.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you-

    George

    Hello

Ethernet controller can be a LAN or WLan card.
Have you installed the network card driver?

All the drivers are located on the European driver Toshiba page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

Protected R100 is an older model mobile phone, so you will need to check the Archive.
In product type to download the form, choose Archive instead of the laptop.

  • HP Pavilion DV3560EV RTC battery

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion DV3560EV and the last two days cannot keep time and date.

I think that the rtc battery is dying.

I found that the reference is 468824-001.

This part number is only for my laptop model or others too?

Because I found that the same reference number for HP Mini 2133.

    Is this the same battery?

    Thank you

    Hello

The type of battery you need is almost certainly the one shown on the page linked below-these are available from any good store retailer or electric computer.  Just to check, compare the number with the RTC battery already in your laptop.

  • Portege M750 - replacing the CMOS (RTC) battery

    Hello world

I have a Portege M750 model PPM75A-007010 and I need to change the CMOS (RTC) battery.

If someone can share with me
    -where to find this battery
-is normal around the battery and if you can tell me the number of battery?
    - or where I can buy this battery and price range?

    Thank you
    RC.

    Hello

Normally, the RTC battery in these models are rechargeable.
If not already done, please leave the unit on for the night (not disable, not extended, not sleep - but ON) and see if the problem is resolved.

I think the accusation-description/also the RTC battery is mentioned in your user manual.

  • Portege R100 - replace the CMOS battery

Can someone point me in the right direction to get instructions on how to do it.

    Thank you

    Hello

It is not easy to remove the battery from the motherboard RTC! It s really complicated because you will need to disassemble the whole laptop in the right direction.
As far as I know, you need to remove the keyboard and the bottom cover.

But why would you remove the RTC battery?
If the RTC battery is empty then you can reload again.
The laptop must be connected to the power adapter and must be turned on for over 24 hours.
That would recharge the battery of the CCF.

  • Portege R100 - XP shows constantly the battery icon at 0%

    Hello!

I have a Portege R100 with just the standard battery. Having bought used, it has been reinstalled with Windows XP and all the drivers of the unit in question and public services. The BIOS has been improved to 1.60 and ACPI common Modules installed.

The problem is that XP shows constantly 0% battery icon, even if the power supply is on. As far as hardware is concerned, the battery charge and works very well for about 1.75 hours. As far as XP is concerned, there is no battery.

It's very weird and a bit frustrating! Can anyone maybe shed some light on this and, more specifically, if it is the battery or the charging circuit in the R100 itself? Obviously, one is a * much * more expensive than the other!

    Thanks in advance,

    Sophie.

    Hello

Have you installed or did you use the Toshiba power saver?
Usually if the Toshiba Power saver is installed on the Microsoft Windows option doesn t power unit control the battery or the power state.
Try to reinstall the Toshiba power saver.

  • Extended battery for Portege R100 in the United Kingdom

    Hello

I hope that the topic covers it pretty well things, but...

I read that the R100 in America comes with a long battery life and I was wondering if it is possible to buy one in the United Kingdom. I can't find anything online.

Also the Portege R100 boot from USB at all?

    Thank you very much

This battery high capacity has PA3155U-1BRL part number. I don't have time to search for on Google but use this number in Google UK, and I hope you find an online store where you can order.

On boot USB, I can not say much, but at the start of the laptop under the Toshiba start screen you should see small symbols with all bootable devices. Check if the USB is there.

You want to use USB external CD-Rom?

  • Portege R100 install XP on the replacement drive

    Help, please

My hard drive in my R100 went bad and I replaced it and it became a nightmare to install XP.

I spent 2 days on this subject, and I can't break! I have the original Toshiba USB floppy drive that can be accessed by cell phone and a desktop USB external CD/DVD drive mounted in a USB chassis. It's the Sony DRU - 540A. I tried everything on this forum and it does not work.

I copied the I386 folder in the C: / once I'd fdisk and formatted it and when windows was running from the CD it came to try to find the asms file. When I run the Portege R100 Recovery Bootdisk V1.1.zip he can see my Cd/DVD drive however the virtual D: it creates, causing the PC to freeze when I run Windows NT.

Please help because it's pretty darn painful!

    Thanks Brendan

Why would you copy the files from the CD to your HARD drive? To install an operating system, in your case Windows XP just boot from the CD and follow the instructions given by the installation routine.

You can change the priority of booting into the BIOS settings, or by pressing the C key laptop start upward.
