  Hi all

  I got this Satellite M55 quite a few years and until now it works really not too bad for me apart from a few minor errors here and there...
  Just recently, I sometimes have some hard to connect to wireless internet.
  It could always be connected only after hitting plugged in at least 2 or 3 times, and the connection is not persistent in time.
  When I look on the computer management, it seems the Ethernet controller and PCI Modem are missing. I tried to search and re - install drivers associated with wireless local area network and so forth, but stops the error.
  This advice would be really appreciated!

  Usually, if the Ethernet controller appears in the device as an unknown device manager driver LAN or WLan driver is missing.

  Please check if one of the mentioned devices is missing, or if the driver has not been installed.

  You can not install it on a 64 bit OS, you need to install windows 7 x 86 (32 bit)

  There is no need to uninstall the driver from Chipset and most likely you do not have to restart it is because the downloaded version was already installed.

  Try download and install alternative Realtek driver on the link below.

  I took the driver file and extract the files in a compressed folder, I named the network drivers. I downloaded on my space Skydrive Ms.

  Download the file, Unzip it and make sure that you take note where you saved to. It should record in your downloads folder in Windows 7.

  Now, click your network adapter in Device Manager, click on update driver driver. Select the browse my computer for the software option. Navigate to the folder that you have unpacked with network drivers and see if it loads the drivers then. If not, I give up.

  After that I upgraded my window xp1 xp2 there is no problem, but after that another update came and I installed it as usual and windows must restart so I restart, then as usual loading windows logon.   The hard drive failed on my Portege R100, so I replaced and installed Windows XP.
  The only problem is that I'm missing some drivers, so I can't get into the Internet - significantly Device Manager indicates problems with the Ethernet controller.

  After setting the network card to make IE work, then check OE.  If the OE still has problems, check under Tools | Options | Connections and tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Connection to be sure, the settings are correct.  You may also need to remove your e-mail account, close OE and then add it back again.
