  This additional software is only part of the image of Toshiba and can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page!
  If you want to use the software if you need to buy a version full or you will switch to the image of Toshiba.

• Portege R500 does not start from the XP CD

  My basic problem is the following - I have a Portege r500 with Vista on it. I'm moving from Vista to XP Pro, but when I put a bootable XP installation CD in the drive, it turns, looking around for awhile and then I get a blank screen with a cursor blinking on it.

  Now, I've done this before, so I know that something is supposed to happen, but nothing don't. And I tried 3 well-known installation CD, is not a problem of CD. Do I need some update BIOS/firmware to boot from the CD on this thing? Or am I missing something?

  Often the Portege R500 should be able to boot from the CD/DVD drive and should begin the procedure of installation of the CD Win XP SP2 installation.

  But it is a tricky thing.
  The Portege R500 needs an Intel (r) Matrix Storage Manager (iMSM). This iMSM is necessary to recognize the HARD drive and install Win Xp on the HARD drive.

  I recommend you and create a new CD of Win XP starting with software called nLite to integrate the SP2 of Microsoft and Intel Matrix Storage Manager (iMSM) in Win XP.

  You can then use this CD for installation.

• Portege R500 does not show the Groove 2007 calendar tool

  Hi all

  As a newbie, I met the following problem with MS Office Groove 2007 on a newly purchased R500.
  Windows XP Pro SP3, Office 2007 Ultimate

  Use the Groove 2007 calendar tool to coordinate meetings with my colleagues, but the R500 does not show the calendar.
  Tried it on all my computers and it works fine except on the Porege R500.

  Please let know us if anyone has experienced the same problem or if there is a solution before I turn to MS (hate doing that)

  Maybe you should remove the SP3 and must try to reinstall again on the Portégé R500 using only SP2.

  Did you also check if there is some compatibility issues between the MS Groove 2007 and already installed programs?

• Portege R500 could not establish a connection using Novatel Mobilink

  I am unable to make a connection using the software of Novatel Mobilink on my new R500.

  I installed * XP * and installed the relevant downloads on the Toshiba site, i.e.
  Power RF 3 G v 1.0.1.8 control utility
  MobiLink 2.0.2.1.8 v
  Wireless Broadband Mobile v 3.0.0.3

  My SIM is detected OK. I created my profile and checked that my APN, username and password are correct. When I try to connect I get the Mobilink network connection manager * error 619 * saying that perhaps my profile settings are not correct.

  However, if I create a connection by modem with exactly the same settings that the connection works fine.
  The only difference is that I use windows dial up to start the connection rather than Mobilink.

  Put Vista on the laptop the Mobilink connection works fine as well, it seems that if you want to do with XP, so I think that there could be another driver or patch required.

  Anyone had similar problems using Mobilink to initiate the connection?

  Any ideas would be welcome?

  I m not an expert in Mobilink network connection, but I goggled a bit and discovered that if this error 619 message you should do this:

  S ' ensure that the data card is inserted into the laptop.
  -Go to compose (i.e. start-> Control Panel-> network connections) network connections and delete the profile called 3 G connection.
  -Try and launch a data call via Mobilink software. It should work now and the 3G connection profile visible once more.

  The following are the possible causes of an error 619 _Other: _
  -Name (APN) access point is not correct (i.e. incorrect characters for example)
  - or not entered at all.
  -Wrong username and/or password used.
  -The used SIM card is not associated with the required AFN

• Portege R500 is not running on battery power - flashing orange indicator

  I have a Porterge R500 with Windows Vista to my work.

  I was going on a trip, so I bought an extra battery.
  Before the plane everything worked fine. Both batteries worked and they were fully charged.

  After I entered the plane, out of the blue, the laptop does not start with any of the two batteries (original both of them).

  When I landed I plugged the ac plug in and it started. It indicates that the battery is charging (70% and 80% respectively), but none of them doesn't seem to work because if I remove the plug, the laptop stops.

  When it is plugged in, the led battery is a kind of blink (occasionally) but I don't understand what the problem is at all because the computer is running, I have two batteries will kind of dead at the same time, and even when they are charged according to the computer, they do not provide the power.

  Any tips?

  Very strange that both batteries don t work after entering in the plane.
  To be honest I m not the expert on this area, but maybe the radiation while checking the bags and personal items likely to affect the batteries.

  However, the fact is that laptop does not work with batteries. I recommend you to buy another battery.

• Recently, Portege R500 does not recognise external drives

  Vista SP2 - fully implemented to date.
  I have 2 external drives to backup-last used about a month it is a Maxtor and Seagate.
  Now neither are listed in the Solution Explorer, even if the computer is knows they are there because the two happen when I use the icon 'remove '.

  Both drives work in another office of Windows 7, and all ports USB R500 with a USB key and SD card reader. Have you tried the update of drivers.
  Paragon Hard Disk Manager knows they are there as well and lists their properties.

  However, Paragon will not allow them to be used for the backup. Any ideas?

  You can try to remove the USB host and USB controllers from Device Manager.
  Restart the unit. USB controllers should be recognized automatically. Then connect one of the hard drives USB ports USB portable s and check if the device would be recognized.

  You can also try to restart the * plug-and-play service.
  You will need to go to computer management (right click on computer and select Manage).
  New window appears, then here you must choose Services.

  Choose * Plug-and-Play * and disable it (if enabled).
  Activate the service once more, and then connect the USB HDD.

  I searched and studied a bit more on different websites, and it seems that both computers portable Portege R500 support the same hardware specifications:
  Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2GHz / 2048 MB / 160 GB / TFT12.1 / Intel GMA 950 GPU

  I think these two laptops are delivered and designed for different countries and the model number is therefore different.

  The Portégé R500-10J PPR50E-00K00PSP seems to be sent to Spain, and the Portege R500 - 11 c PPR50E-00K04LRU can be purchased in Russia.

  According to the Installation Instructions on the Toshiba Portege R500 with Windows XP for driver download site, I need Toshiba disc Creator V2.0.0.8 and Toshiba Direct Disk Writer V1.1.0.0 for my engraver of CD/DVD.

  None of these is available among the files on the Toshiba Portege R500 with Windows XP driver download site. Where can I get these drivers?

  I imagine that you are a little confused about missing drivers, but actually, you should install only the stuff offered on the Toshiba download page.

  Please, do it and test drive optical with a burning software like Nero and you will see that everything works correctly.

  One more thing about this document Instructions of facilities: this list is the same as the use for creating Toshiba recovery image. Recovery image contains many more things that you can find on the download page. I don't want to explain now why is it and for WXP feature on Portege R500 is not so important.

  Important for you is to download all the stuff and install it following this order facilities.

  One last thing: I have heard that Toshiba will create DVDs from Windows XP Home edition for professional laptops recovery. I'm sure you can order this DVD of Windows XP Home edition. Try to contact the partner of service allowed in your country and ask if they can order one for you.

  I love prelude as a program for recording of my images. I have a number of markers that have different colors, but I would like to know if it is possible to change the color of the marker after it's done. I know that this can easily be done in first, but why not as a prelude?

  Thanks for pointing it. Currently, it is not possible to change the colors of the markers, after that they were recorded, in the prelude to the way in which it can be made into Pre Pro.

  Well, the colors are editable, even after cutting, but the colors of the markers would change. Consider the following scenarios:

  1. add some markers; Comments and subitems on any multimedia file. Go to editing Preferences-->--> marker. Select the marker type and the corresponding color. Ok

  Back to the scenario where you connected to certain markers. The colors of all the same type of markers would be changed.

  However, you can have different colors for different markers of the same type.

  2. I hope you tried the models tag of prelude--> window--> tag. With tags, you can set tags of different colors. They work as comment markers.

  You can create tags of 100 francs of colors and save them in media files.

  Although you will not be able to change the color of the already signed tags/comments, but surely you can change the colors of the tags as well & easily as pre pro.

  Tags also give a wide range of colors, so maybe you won't feel like by changing the colors of the markers after cutting.

The LCD has started on and off, and then the light remained off the coast. When I push the backlight button to turn it on, the light gets on only one second and then automatically go down again.
  I think that the button is disabled or something like that.

  And backlight button do you mean? I assume that, if this happens sporadically, only the subsystem of LCD or maybe something around the screen has some hardware poorly run and should be checked by an authorized service provider.

  I would like to learn more about your problem, then maybe we can proobably exclude some hardware for error...

  If not, you should check on the Mainpage Toshiba for the support home page and search for the next provider of services available in your country.

  My Portege R500 arrested last night when displaying "my pictures" and I was not able to do restart upward.

  I removed the battery and turn the direct power, but when I power on I get the Toshiba with "Intel" page in the lower right and five icons feature lower downtown.

  It will not boot to Windows, I know I should know, but I "think" it works under XP.

  I have no recovery disks, he passed to us my father in law a few years ago and no supported drives has come that I can find.
