Portege R500 - SD and SDHC card reader

Hello!

Does anyone know if there is a maximum size of SDHC card to the card reader in the R500? I know that it supports SDHC, but I fear that there is a size limit? It will be 8.16, or even 32 GB SDHC cards?

I want to avoid buying a card that I can't use to its full extent because they are still quite expensive compared to normal more small cards of SD!

Thanks for your help!

OK - issue resolved - went to my dealer local photo equiptment and persuades him to let me try a SDHC 16 GB chip - works great!

For me, the matter is simple, and the reason why the SD card reader is not working, it's just a driver compatible isn't installed.
My theory seems to be correct, given that the SM bus controller and PCI simple communication controller appear in Device Manager and I suppose that one of these devices belongs to the player/controller of the SD card.

I think that you should simply install this Realtek card reader controller that I found on the page of the Toshiba UE driver
    http://Support1.toshiba-tro.de/Tedd-files2/0/CARC-20130924161048.zip

In addition, you must install all the other drivers Win 7 as well as Toshiba tools available by Satellite C850 series.

Very important is the chipset driver, USB 3.0 driver (Win 7 has this port driver to control the USB 3.0), display driver. etc.

Not very essential tools are Bulletin Board, product information online Reeltime, etc. This tools additional don t improved the performance of the laptop so its up to you if you want to use these software components

SD and SDHC cards and devices have these compatibility issues:

    • Devices that do not specifically support the SDHC do not recognize SDHC memory cards. Some devices can support SDHC through an update of the firmware.
    • SDHC devices are backward compatible with SD memory cards
    • Some manufacturers have produced 4 GB SD cards that conform to the existing SD or spec SD2.0/SDHC devices.
    • File system: SD cards are typically formatted with the FAT16 file system, while SDHC cards are usually in format FAT32. However, both types of cards may support other file systems for general purposes, such as UFS2/ext2 or owner exFAT for example.

  • Portege R500 - fingerprint reader and SD card reader does not work

    Hello

I hope someone can help me.

I bought an opportunity Portege R500 (the warranty is still available until 12/2010) and set up with Windows 7 Home Premium.

I installed all the drivers for Windows 7 from the specific model support page. Driver Vista have been installed for all drivers, which are not available in Windows 7.

If everything works fine, except the fingerprint reader and the sd card slot.

Fingerprints: I tried al a lot of drivers, even that of the R600 and R700 (such as proposed by someone here in the forum). When I run the Toshiba fingerprint utility, a text box tells me, that there is no connection with the sensor. Authentc software does not work either.

SD card reader: I tried several SD cards from a card SD 2 GB simple and old (but functional) Kingston. According to the Director of devicce, the driver is correctly installed and running.
The blue icon next to wireless light turns on and after a "long", a message box appears and asks me to format the card. It takes a little longer and then I get the massage, the card cannot be formatted. I tried the same procedure with a SDHC card 4 GB and a Micro SDHC card in a SD card adapter. Then of course the cards are identified but not usable and formatted.

There are several reports of other users of the internet, the locations of sd card in computer models laptops different toshiba have problems under Windows 7.

The two problems have emerged as well under Vista. My hope was, this upgrade to Win 7 solve poverty. Unfortunately remain the problems of th I have Win 7.

    Thanks in advance,

    Michael (Germany)

Tip; BIOS update and setting BIOS by default (with F9) can solve many problems... it's worth a try...

By the way; Win 7 is able to update the drivers automatically. I recommend that you run an update in Device Manager and let windows search for the update.

I ve got another laptop and installed Win 7 as well. The card reader Vista driver has worked for me on Win 7 OS just a tip

  • Portege R500 - Powerpoint and dual head video card

Urgent! I have a presentation to do tomorrow.

Anyone know if the Portege R500 has a dual head video card so that Powerpoint can be used in presenter view. That is to say, the notes show on laptop and external display or via a projector presentation?

I put t know what you mean exactly with dual head video card but the Portege R500 may be connected to the projector too.
You could extend your desktop on the projector by using the FN + F5 key combination and could spend the PowerPoint on the extended desktop.
    This should also work.

  • SD/SDHC card reader does not work in a new Win7 64 bit computer desktop Lenovo, help?

OK, so I am looking for a friends computer to recognize the SD/SDHC cards... no chance what-so-ever...

The computer they use is a new desktop Lenovo IdeaCentre K300 running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  The Tower has a built in card reader SD/SDHC/MiniHC etc.  However the read card doesn't seem to even notice the fact that we have inserted a card.  No lights, no noise, no new don't drive in "Computer"... absolutely no concept of recognition.  I tried to go on the Lenovo site and download drivers card reader to do this and model, but I get no difference in the response.  Cards perfectly in both cameras and also work on his cell phone.  The map we use are as follows:
MAP 1--> 2 GB Lexar SD
MAP 2--> Sony 1 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo
Are these old maps or simply incompatible with this brand of computer or the windows version?
I can't imagine another way to get this to work other than a completely new card reader.
    -Thanks in advance people!

Is there is no lights then he seems to have not be able to go to him.  You must either check inside to see if the drive is properly connected to the motherboard and the power supply internal.  Or, as Lenovo is new, this drive is covered by the warranty.

  • Portege R500 - RAM and disk SSD upgrade

    Hello

    I have a PORTEGE R500 bought in 2007, SERIES NO.48025469H.

I have obvious problems with VISTA and WINDOWS 7. The two do not work well, because he seems to have a memory. I wonder if I can increase the memory and replace the drive with an SSD. I want to keep this laptop because it is perfect for all my needs.

    Thank you

    Hello

According to the specifications of the laptop your laptop can handle with GB of RAM, but has been bundled with 2 GB memory is not possible.

What about SSD? SSD upgrade is possible and you can use 256GB SSD for upgrade. After this system will be much faster, and you will certainly more performance and speed.

  • Satellite A100-259 and PCMCIA card reader no longer works

I have a Satellite A100-259, I've had for about a year with no problems... so far, the PCMCIA card slot reader seems to have stopped working.

When I insert a card reader SD PCMCIA discover the laptop hardware as a "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURE' and subsequently can not find the drivers for it. I tried a couple of different PCMCIA devices and get the same question every time, I checked also double the card reader works by trying it in PC laptop Toshiba-not to the woman.

The PC is a XP/Vista installation start-up duel and I get the same question under each operating system. I also think that it may have started after I installed upgrading the BIOS to 2.20.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, b
    Kind regards.

Try to access the BIOS and set the defaults.
Don t forget to save the settings after the change.

By the way; Are you trying to reinstall the PCMCIA driver?
Go to the Device Manager and remove the PCMCIA computer location.
Then restart the laptop and check if Windows detects and installs the removed slot.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A120 - 160 SD compatible SDHC card reader?

I just want to know if my in my PSAC1E SD card reader can read SDHC cards or not. Someone out there of Toshiba knows, or has someone else out there with the macine even tried a SDHC card in his?

As far as I know that the Satellite A120 supports SD cards up to 1 GB.
If SDHC cards are not compatible.

If you want to read SDHC cards on your laptop, you need an external (USB) card reader.

  • Portege R500 - DVD and SD disappeared

Unfortunately, I just dropped on the carpet.
Both the DVD player and the SD Reader have now disappeared.
There is no optical drive listed in Device Manager.

I recently installed a replacement optical drive, because he had stopped working earlier.
The SD card reader did not work properly for a long time, but was still listed.

The new DVD player worked well until what the bump.

What I find curious, is that the SD reader has disappeared.

I disassembled the thing and checked the cables are still connected (the DVD drive to the SD card and the SD card to the motherboard).
All drivers are bang up to date.
Windows 7 is up to date.

    Any thoughts?

In my view, it must be a malfunction of the equipment. Devices can be connected, but if the controller is faulty device will not recognized correctly.

You can install the original recovery image and test the functionality with the factory settings. If the problem persists, I think, there is nothing you can do about it. New manboard is the solution for you.

  • Windows XP prevents me from installing the new hardware as my Canon camera and memory card reader.

original title: problem with new hardware

last week, windows xp prevented me from installing new hardware, namely a canon digital camera and a memory card reader. Although the system recognizes the material into the machine, when you are looking for auto install it asks me for the service pack 3 cd, which I did not. I never had problems, install new hardware before. Any ideas why this happens?

    Hello

    · What is the service pack installed on the computer?

    · What is the model number of the canon camera?

    · What is the exact error message that you receive with error code if any?

If you have installed service pack 3 on the computer then you can try the method and check them off below if it helps:
