Portege R700 and dockstation, built-in screen starts black

My laptop is a R700 with a docking station. Windows 7 x 64.

If I start laptop anchored, can be seen on the external monitor and the built-in lcd screen.
If I'm undocked stars, starts windows and lcd goes black. It is out for external monitor if I connect one expiration correct lcd.

Swtiching function keys doesn´t works, as if undertand lcd is correct (but there is only a black lcd screen).
Updated to the latest version of the video and to change versions (aug2012) we get the same result: black lcd.

If uninstall video driver and set the driver standard vga works well, but there is no switching function key to use the external monitor.

Did anyone here with same problem?

If the video signal has been set to external monitor using Fn + F5, you will need to use this combination of keys again to return to the internal display.

There are many differences between these models and also, there are different R700 and R630 models on the market.

In my opinion, you should check these notebooks from Toshiba Web site. There you can see what models are currently available and the configuration.

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hello

To be honest, I've never heard of this problem, but if you want to use the webcam with external software such as Skype, you must first close the webcam software. Example of webcam starts with Windows and that you should close it before starting, it is a 3rd party program.

Well - I found the answer to the first question - how to enter in Bios in W10 - energy options that you must disable the quick start - then you enter BIOS just taking the F12 to power. Worked on my two Portégé.

  • Portege R700 and Win 7 Update detects not SP1

    Hello

    I have a Portege R700-1E8 with Win7 Pro.
WinUpdate detects no SP1, but it has detected the other updates and installed their (the SO is enabled).

If I install SP1 manually (downloaded as iso from Microsoft Download site file) it seems to be installed without problems.
Yet, I picked up the phone to the original state and tried to detect the windows updates again.

There are many upgrades available, but without SP1 AND IE9.

    Any ideea?
    Thank you

    Hello

    > If I install SP1 manually (downloaded as iso from Microsoft Download site file) it seems to be installed without problems.

So where is the problem if you were able to install SP1 manually?
I had also some problems to install the patches in the past, that I could not install patches after system reboot and disable a 3rd party firewall, I could install necessary updates who received automatically by Windows 7.

However, SP1 can be installed manually and it should be possible to install other patches automatically, so in this case, I wouldn't be worried

  • Portege R700 and Win 7 Port Replicator Support

    Hello

Just one running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on a R700 and use speed duplicator Hi? Not a party PA3838D-1PRP.

I read on a site of exercise there is no Windows 7 drivers for port replicator.

    Thank you

As far as I know you don t need any special port replicator driver. If this port replicator is defined as compatible for your laptop model and that you use original Toshiba recovery image it will be recognized automatically and you will be able to use all the available ports on this port reflector.

  • HP Envy 17 built-in screen went black after system updates.

    Hello!

Earlier today, after updates monthly to Win 7 Home Prem (64 bit, Engl.)  I had the problem with the display of colors with my HP Envy 17. It turns out that caused Windows Silverlight (?) to indicate only a few 256 colors (?). So I plugged another screen (Samsung 22 inch SyncMaster) as external monitor to the computer.  This worked OK. So, I removed the updates of windows outside one by one, starting system after each file. After the removal of Silverlight, the built-in screen returned to original resolution and colors (1910 * 1080, 60 Hz, 32-bit). Then I reinstalled all the other updates and started the system. So far, I was happy. The original problem has been resolved.

Then, I checked the status of HP Support Assistant. He suggested the update of the program itself and some 5 other updates. I've updated the HP Support Assistant first.  That went well, I guess. After the system start, I checked the other updates the new version of HP Support Assistant suggested. This includes for example. update the BIOS and 4 other updates. After download and installation of these, system startup has produced, triggered by the update. OK to start the system, and Windows started a little. But then the screen integrated (HP laptop) do not continue to see the picture more, external only display gave the image. I used the double at this stage display mode. -Only when you start Windows in safe mode, the screen seems to work, but with a limited resolution and properties.

I tried to change display modes (dual Extended display, disconnect, projector only), but the screen does not appear. Or, if we turn off the lights (black room), one can imagine to be able to see a light screen Veery also (built-in display) - so some photos also forms in this case (the built-in screen of HP Envy 17). Remove the external display and the system startup without it does not help.

Please help me and teach how to bring back the computer screen in life!

    Hello.

Just letting you know that the screen of my HP Envy 17 2050ea now works fine! What helped was a call to the local HP support; Today, I managed to pass through. He suggested to delete the display driver that I did in Safe Mode, as the built-in screen still worked. I've done the following:

    * I started the system using Windows Mode safe mode with networking (press F8 to get there after startup)

    * The I went to the Device Manager (you can use the start search to find)

    * There, I chose the graphics cards. With the right button of your mouse, I have selected to uninstall the display Radeon (TM) driver. In my case it was Radeon (TM) HD 6850 M.

    * After the driver has been uninstalled, I started the system. System booted normally (complete Windows).

    * Now the display settings were a little strange, but the screen has worked

    * After a minute or two, automatic update of the display driver has occurred. System infomed me to this topic. Then I rebooted, to allow the driver to use.

    * After reboot my screen was back to normal, as it was before the problem.

Summary: The problem has been resolved through resettlement of the display driver. Fortunately, heavy recovery or reinstallation of the entire system was not necessary.

There are too many different questions and if you try to fix one, it will take too long and there is no guarantee that you will have success with it.

Best thing you can do is to restore laptop to factory settings and start using it for laptop with out of the box. After doing this in a first time check it and make sure that everything works correctly.

  • PROTECTED R700 on docking station / command screen

    Hello

I'm on a Toshiba protégé R700 on a docking station and I have problems in installing the screen of the built-in or external.
Is it really necessary to press FN + F5 to switch the view when the apparatus?

    My scenario:

Laptop on the dock, using external display
    Stop Windows XP
    Undocking
    Laptop computer startup
Enter my Login of Win XP on the logon screen
    Built-in screen turns black

After that I have to press FN + F5 blind or are anchored the laptop to change the setting on my external screen.

    > Is this really necessary to press FN + F5 to switch the view when the apparatus?
Hmm Yes it of necessary to press FN + F5 to switch back to internal laptop display if you have previously used the external display

The Fn + F5 switches between the internal and external screen... so you must use this option if you want to reuse the internal laptop display.

  • Portege R700 - keyboard cover

Toshiba or someone else to do a keyboard for the R700 series cover?

I want to preserve my laptop in State up, so wear the buttons is something I want to avoid with one of these translucent rubberized covers that I've seen for other laptops

    see you soon

    Ben

    Hi 1994F7PT,

As far as I know Toshiba doesn't offer this keyboard covers. I did a Google search for keyboard covers Portege R700 and I found a few offers, but for US keyboard. Maybe you can find a few keyboard covers for keyboard R700 and EU. Also take a look on eBay, you can also get a lot of laptop parts.

If you have found something you can post it here. I'm sure that it s interesting to other owners P700! :)

  • Temperature of the system at 90 c in Portege R700

When I turn on my Portege R700 and immediately open the Toshiba PC health program (monitoring sensors) it shows the temperature of CPU either very low, of course, while the temperature of the system is already at 90 C.

As a result (I think but I could be wrong) the fan runs at almost maximum speed.
The situation does not change in time: rest CPU temperature generally less 40 c, the temperature of system at 90 c, fan still spinning fast.

Is this normal? The cooling test program says everything is fine.

    Daniele

You should try to perform a cleanup of laptop:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=40

    > Toshiba PC (sensors monitoring) health program it shows the very low CPU temperature

Hmm... If it shows that the temperature is low, but it goes up to 90 C, means do not work properly. Reinstall it, but before complete cooling system cleaning

  • Portege R700 - how to clean the keyboard keys?

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Portege R700 - and I spilled coke on a small part of the keyboard.
Not surprisingly, the two or three keys are now "sticky."

Is it as simple as access to the keyboard and the relevant keys of cleaning?
Or is it not that simple?
If I can do this, is there a pictorial guide on access to the keyboard?

I'm reluctant to open first without consulting the tech manual.

    Thank you

    Hello

In my opinion, you will not be able to clean it properly. Coke is full of sugar. It can be complicated, but you can try it.

In the worst cases, you must exchange he keyboard.
So what you need to do is to remove Cap key for each critical button. It is set with small farmers in plastic. Just take something like the credit card but more stabile, put under the key cap and try to remove it. Under the key CAP is little key mechanism. Try to clean it with a damp cloth. Be careful and clean without a lot of pressure.

When you think it's OK place the key cap and press it very gently of course.

You'll hear the clicking noise and the cp key should be up again.

I hope that you will be able to make it work again.
    Please post comments.

  • Portege R700 - missing rubber stopper, replacements?

    Hi all

I have a Portege R700, and the rubber plug on the lower left corner, the one nearest the suction fan broke.

Other than aesthetics, it has consequences more serious, which impede the flow of air to the system and potentially leading to higher time and/or limitation.

My question is, is it possible to get replacements?

    Thanks in advance

I put t know for sure, but I think he can be replaced. The question is where you can get it.
Try to contact the closest service Toshiba and ask if they can order it for you. To be honest, I don't think you can buy it as part separately.

  • Satellite E45-B4200 - screen flashes black

    Hello

every now and then my laptop screen starts to blink several times.

When he started a few weeks ago, it would be short, quick, a few blinks of black color.
Now, the problem persists, whith the flashing more and more frequent and and blackouts are longer.

My laptop is Satellite E45-B4200 on Win 8.1.

    Could you please help?

The same symptoms are visible on the external screen?

If not, the malfunctioning of the internal display would be responsible for the short and fast flashing.

Otherwise, if the same is visible on the external monitor, the graphics card might be the troublemaker.
