Portege R830-10 q HARD drive slot?

Hello.

I have a Portege R830-10 q with 128 GB SSD inside, but it becomes too small.
Is there another location for normal HARD drive, or what I have to buy [this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/261480744399?limghlpsr=true & hlpv = 2 & ops = tru e & viphx = 1 & hlpht = true & lpid = 108 & devi this = c & adtype = pla & crdt = 0 & ff3 = 1 & ff11 = ICEP3.0.0 & ff12 = 67 & ff13 = 80 & ff14 = 108]
and throw the unit DVD to the HARD drive inside?

Thank you

Portege R830 supports only a single disk drive HARD or SSD.

With regard to the optical adapter Bay HDD/SSD Caddy:
I'm not quite sure if BIOS would be able to use suchpart m.

In the past, some computers laptop Toshiba supported Select Bay who was allowed to use the HARD disk enclosure in the Bay of ODD, but many books don't supports this functionality.

In the worst cases, you need to replace your current HDD/SSD with the biggest HDD/SSD

Check your BIOS settings to make sure that your list of boot device is set correctly and in the right order. Maybe it's that the system tries to re-boot during installation, but the bad device.

  • Portege R100 and new hard drive

I think to put in a larger capacity internal hard drive - 40G is now a little bit :(

Does anyone do this? The traps? Any suggestions on compatible drives?

    TIA

    Hello

As far as I know the old Portege R100 supported a HDD IDE controller.
So you will definitely need an IDE HDD. I think that it s a 1.8 IDE HDD.

I think the HDD IDE controller supports only the 28-bit LBA and it would mean that there would be larger than 120 GB hard drives not recognized.

That's why I choose smaller hard drives.

  • Portege 7100 - what size HARD drive it does support?

    Hello

my old man (I'm a student, so no money for a new) Portege 7100 (ct) has a small hard drive, so I want to shift to a bigger... but what size HARD drive supports the 7100ct? (and that's a 1.8 "or can I use drives 2.5"?)

    thx for any help...

    Hello

As far as I know that your unit has standard 2.5 "hard drive. Unfortunately there is no public record of such information. Accurate information, you can get that from accredited service partner or even some HARD drive supplier.
In my opinion, your device must be able to manage with maximum up to 8 or 10 GB HARD drive. For me, we know that some offering it can manipulate the BIOS with special tools and after that BIOS recognize a much larger capacity HARD drive.

Try to pick up some information on the net service partner or call your country. I believe that consultation service is free.

  • Portege M300 - replacement of HARD drive failed

    Dear all,

I have a Portege M300 I bought around 3 or 4 years and I am very happy with and without any problems. The laptop came originally with a 60GB and I wanted to upgrade to one with greater capacity, a 160 GB! My laptop is about 1.2 GB of Ram and runs on windows XP SP3.

I recently bought a Samsung HD-160 (160GB) which should be compatible with my laptop. After installing from scratch and used for about 2 weeks, the computer suddenly stopped. HARD drive stopped spinning and a #0 ERROR came when I tried to restart. There was NO WAY to drive HARD turn again so I contacted Samsung and they replace. The HARD drive has a slight smell of burnt component but very light.
I replaced the HDD failed with a 2nd replacement and to my disbelief, the SAME THING happened again just after 3 hours of use! I contacted Samsung and once more they will send replace me, with the same type of hard disk. I tried to get explanations of Toshiba and Samsung for why this happens, but so far I have no explanation.
Without hesitation, I gave my original 60 GB Toshiba drive who was thankfully still my documents and the laptop is happy again touch wood.

What I am doing wrong? can someone help me please go to the bottom of this so I do not experience the same problem with my 3rd replacement? I wish I had a bigger hard drive on my laptop and I think all of them must be compatible. I buy one that should be compatible with my Portege M300. Both are valued at 5 v

I have to add to what has just occurred to me now that I have installed all the Toshiba original programs too on my Samsung HDD out of Windows XP, including the utility that protects the disk in case of Vibrations. This could be the problem by any chance? This utility only for Toshiba's brand HARD drive? Any ideas or other suggestions on this issue please?

Thank you very much for your attention.

    Carmine

Portege M300 is pretty old laptop and maybe you should be careful with these upgrades.
According to specification for laptop, your laptop can handle with 100 GB hard drives, but I'm sure you can use 120 GB as well.

Then maybe you should try to upgrade the disk with 120 GB of HARD drive to see if everything will be OK. I think also 120 GB is enough and you have enough free space for the data backup.
What do you think about this?

  • Portege M700 - protection of HARD drive problem

    Hello world

I searched the net for a full day now try to find answers to this.
Note, I am an accountant and not a computer geek.

I have a laptop Portege M700. I am updating from Vista to Win7.

    Here's the problem:
-Initially tried to uninstall Toshiba HDD Protection via Control Panel and got the message error "internal error 2753 setupftc.exe.
-Then searched the Internet and realized that I had to stop the service first. Note that I does NOT initially stop the service in the Service Manager.
-Now went in the Service Manager to seek Protection of HARD drive and it is not at all.
-Returned east to configuration-Toshiba HDD Protection Panel is listed as a program. It will not always uninstall it... the activiates Assistant uninstaller, and after a few seconds, he simply says the same error message is ' «internal error 2753 setupftc.exe»»

-a search on the internet about this error does no useful result. They underline that the registry cleaner programs. I have NOT installed the registry cleaners.

    - then I went to the registry and created a backup of the registry.
Then tried all the items containing 'HDD Protection' and started deleting them hoping that it would work.
    Then I tried to uninstall.
The computer popped up a message stating that a restart is required.
Tried to restart and got a blue screen.
Then restared in safemode, reloaded the old registry file and VOILA the computer is back to normal again.

    BUT...
I can not even uninstall HDD Protection. Get the same bloody error.

-then downloaded the site Web of TOSHIBA HDD Protection file.
Try to install this file... I get the same error, i.e. "internal error 2753 setuptfc.exe.

Ok.. now, I'm ready to give up.

Really, I didn't wipe my comptuer clean to do a fresh install, because it's such a big hassle. And I'm an accountant, not a computer expert so I don't know what to do for a new installation.
For the time I've wasted on this already, I probably just to find instructions on the net and then made a complete new installation.

All the advice to fix it, pleeeeeeeeeeeease! : ??

    Thank you.

So clean Toshiba HDD protection tool didn't help installation then some registry entries must be screwed to the top.
Believe me, best you can do is to install the OS to aid installation of HARD - disc of recovery http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm recovery mode or use if you have a.
After a clean install of Vista, everything will work correctly, and then you can start with the Win7 upgrade procedure.

Hi - I have 5.5 ESXi configured HP DL380 G6 server and three independent logical drives.  I had exchanged a HDD in slot 1 with slot 3 to do a test, but then he returned to original slots.

In the ESXi VMware client, I see the detected hard drives but next to him said ' ' unconfigured disk and virtual machines, I say unknown inaccessible. "

I removed the VM of the inventory by pressing a note KM, but the problem is that I do not see my data stores, none of the hard disk appears in the Configuration > storage > devices section. If I can see them in the Configuration > health > storage area.

Any thoughts on what I can do for the disc to be recognized, all that was done was split/Bay 1 hard drive was moved to slot/Bay 3 and vice versa.

  • Portege Z930-145 - unreadable HARD drive - how to restore Windows 8?

    Hello...

I have buyed my cell phone 6 months ago in an online store.
A month ago he kissed the sky and was ready for the scrap of hard drive. The support of the seller wrote, that it does not appear a warranty issue.

Now I can not install the original OS Windows 8, which was preinstalled. Now, I have buyed a new hard drive and in time I use Ubuntu Linux. But I want to use Windows. No, my laptop has a license code.

    What can I do?

    Thank you...

Sorry for my bad English. I am Spanish.

Before anything please contact Toshiba service provider in your country and explain the situation. AFAIK you should get the new HARD drive.
List of service providers that you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/
If you like it and I hope that they can explain how it works exactly.

Back to your question: each laptop with pre-installed operating system (factory settings) a small tool which create recovery media. This recovery (DVD or USB) media can be used for the original recovery image installation. I assume that you did not create this recovery media, right?

Anyway, if you want to have the settings to factory again, but you don t have recovery media you must order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • How to install Windows XP on Portege S100 home after HARD drive crash

In my laptop s100-s1133 of a HARD drive crash. I buy a new one. Now, I can not intall OS (Windows XP). Windows is not installed, because it does not find my HARD drive. I got downlad drivers for toshiba (Toshiba RAID driver for XP (v1.3.8.0, 10/04/2006; 465 K)). After the installation of win98, it cannot detect the CD-rom...
Y at - it a recovery for this model cd? or can say smb, how can I install WinXP on this model

    Hello

You are right that you must install the first RAID driver before installing the operating system.
If you have installed the RAID the installation Win driver will ask you to format the HARD drive.
In this case, do NOT format the HARD drive because the RAID driver will remove and it is not possible to install the Windows XP.

Now your question Win98; is on the page of the Toshiba driver you will find not all drivers for Win98 for this device and I assume that you need a particular driver for the CD/DVD drive to activate this device.

I give you a warning regarding the use of the WinXP

PS: On the Toshiba driver page, you will find the installation instructions. Follow this guide!

  • Portege R600 - exchange of HARD drive

We are very impressed by our new R600-S4201, among the first to be released in the American market. But we would like to exchange an SSD for the 160 GB conventional hard drive. CSR Toshiba says that we can do it - that it will not void the warranty - but unfortunately the disassembly procedure did not he still Manila.

R500 instructions do not help the R600 is a unique piece, with only applies for memory, etc., but not for the hard drive.

We have removed all the screws (really ALL), including the screw of one side, but the background is not 'free '. It is hung up by the projection of the ports, etc. on the eSATA (side not the DVD). It is too thin and fragile to take a lot of strength, then we're stuck.

It seems that the background should move outwards if he wants to overcome these obstacles. We should remove the top panel, paved touchscreen and keyboard, but there is no obvious way to do it.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

AFAIK swap the HARD drive, you must remove the cover on the bottom side.

On this laptop it s a little more delicate and you need to remove a large number of screws to exchange the HARD drive. If you go to a local ASP and ask a technician for help.

  • HP Envy 17 n065na: where should I install the second hard drive (Slot m2) on a HP Envy na065na? Photo inside

    Hello

I'm planning on ordering a new SSD to insert as secondary on this laptop. According to the manual of the unit, it has an SSD Slot for m2 but I couldn't identify it the first time I opened. However, I have a picture that I hope where in the Board of Directors is the m2 for the SSD connector?

Second question is, if this SSD would be comparible (model m2) to my laptop? If this is not the case, can someone point me to one between 256 / 512GB?

Now, I see the right slot. Not sure how I missed it. I only did you link to the manual, which is what would a HP technician if you could talk to one. The image of the motherboard in the manual is not correct. You're right, it is just a user to and sometimes they go wrong. Of course, my post was not the solution, but it's not as if they pay me for solutions. You can always go back and cancel a solution you gave and you should be if understand you more late it isn't fair. Again, sorry.
