Portege Z30-A-10w: Win 7 BSOD after upgrade SSD

Hello

I am wanting to upgrade a laptop Toshiba-Portege-z30-a-10w of company SSD 128 to 512 SSD
However when loading windows 7, it crashes when connecting with a blue screen error 0x00000001

The SSD 512 that I use is
http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/storage-SSD-M550

and according to the
http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compat...Tege-Z30-a-10W

It is compatible with the Toshiba portege-z30-a-10w
I've updated the BIOS of the laptop to V4 30/04/2015 (which to my knowledge is the most recent)
http://www.Toshiba.co.UK/innovation/...jsp?service=UK
Moreover I have updated the firmware on the SSD 512 to what, in my view, is the last
MU02 version
http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/support-SSD
However I still get the same problem with Windows 7 to break with a blue screen just before the opening of the session.

All ideas

Thank you
David

I've never managed to install Windows 7... but I installed Windows 8 and goes on well...

I have no why, but install Windows 8 seems to allow the 512 SSD to use

Hope it will be useful.

  • Portege Z30 - how to create the new partition on SSD

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Portege Z30 with a 512 MB SSD. In addition to the C partition, I would D for the work and E for personal stuff.

By default, the laptop came with only C, but the disc already has 4 partitions:
-a healthy active recovery of 1.46 GB partition
    -c a partition
    -a 16 GB Hibernation partition
-a healthy 11.55 GB primary partition called drive HARD recovery when I use MiniTool Partition Wizzard

I managed to get 300 GB of unallocated space, but I can not use this space to create D and E, apparently because the MBR does not support more than 4 partitions.

Question: should I have all these partitions Toshiba? Is there a workaround for D and E? Can I create a USB drive recovery system and get rid of the recovery partition?

    Thank you

Before starting any discussion, I hope you didn t screwed up something. Why?

When you get laptop it has the factory settings and just with the factory settings, you will be able to create a media recovery (DVD or USB depending on the model). I hope this isn't too late now.

Try to create a recovery media as soon as possible please.
Post it please comment how it works. I hope that everything will be OK.

Have you tried the drivers audio and graphics of the site Web of Toshiba (old version of what was on the laptop after upgrade), but always the same question :-(

    Hello

When you get exactly this BSOD? Happens immediately or if you start a certain application?

Have you checked for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager? Maybe a driver isn t working properly and you should update it.

Also make sure that your BIOS is up to date. You can download the latest version on the Toshiba site.

Last but not least blue screen often associated drivers or memory modules defective RAM. The latter you can check using Memtest86.

  • Portege Z30: Fingerprint software no longer work after Win 7 32-bit downgrade

Hi, I need a little more help with my Z30.

Have just downgraded to Win 7 Pro 64 Bit to Win Pro 32 Bit.

Everything seems to work except for the utility of fingerprinting.

My laptop has biometric device of validity and it shows up as working in the Device Manager.

I have install then it appropriate Toshiba Fingerprint Software listed as fp - sw - 20140811102806.zip.
The installation seems to go smoothly.

However, if I run the software I get an icon on the taskbar, but nothing else. By clicking on this icon (or going back to the program via the start menu) and no registration window opens. Basically, nothing happens.

If I try and close the window in the bar of tasks, nothing happens. I have to use ctrl-alt-delete to close the icon and stop the running program.

I ve started to change the settings and made sure that the biometric device is enabled and checked the box to allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints.

I ve uninstalled Validity Sensor and allowed to reinstall.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Toshiba Fingerprint Software. No luck.

I think that I m doing something pretty obvious, but need some help on this.

  • Satellite C660 stuck in an infinite loop of BSOD after upgrade to win 10

Wow what a disaster, this is a machine under windows 7-32 bit Satellite C660 PSC1GA-01E01M stuck in an infinite loop of BSOD.

The lappy said that it was ok to upgrade to windows 10 so... Yes, I did.
Now its stuck in a loop without end of BSOD.

So I decided to use the recover option and reinstall windows 7 and then move from there.
After mega downloads updates and finally got to the stage where there was no update on the left to get, so I decided to upgrade to windows 10 even once.

Now stuck in an endless loop of BSOD again.

Can someone point me to the driver who is a failure, I can get into SafeMode ok, Device Manager has 2 problems

    (1) is under OTHER DEVICES is an unknown device
    (2) is generic pnp monitor

I tried from Toshiba Web site for updates of drivers for 32-bit windows 8 thinking this could be the best step but the links are bad and the page Web said sorry loser at home...

Also no network, if I try to logging for the safe mode with networking, he returned to the screens of BSOD...

    HELP PLEASE

Toshiba has released a list with all Toshiba models supported for upgrading to Windows 10
    http://win10upgrade.Toshiba.com/swup...SPX?region=TEG

Satellite C660 PSC1GA is not in the list, which means that this model is not supported to win 10 and will not get win 10 drivers.

However the Win 10 must run on this device, because it meets the essential physical requirements.

I guess the BSOD loop arise due to some drivers which are not entirely compatible Win 10 and probably these drivers must be removed before making the Win 10 update.

To check the compatibility follow this procedure:

    • Right-click on the icon 'Get Windows 10' (on the right side of the taskbar), then click on "Check the status of your upgrade".
    • In the app to get Windows 10, click on the menu: (3 lines) and then click on "Check your PC.
    • Now you should see the list of compatibility issues

Also this kind of problem could be fixed by Microsoft update, as mentioned in this article:

  • Satellite L775 goes into BSOD after upgrade to 8.1 Win

    Hello

First of all, I have win7 on this device, so I bought a Microsoft windows 8 pro for her.
When I upgraded, it went well for a few months and then it started to plant on its own.

I tried so much to rebuild the PC using the Toshiba software without result.
In the end, I deleted all partitions and rebuilt with win8.
I've upgraded to win8.1 happens only at first sceen and turn it back on, even through there nothing installed.

When I re-made three times and finally I gave up and now at least it works with win8 just want
Toshiba software all ask. NET3.5, whereas I've got 4.5.

I went to several websites to find answer and he's talking about a method to turn the feature back on, but when I do it, it can't find the necessary files.

Now I would like to restart from scratch... where can I download the original software of tosh in a pack?
Or find a solution to this problem BSD

    Thank you.

Each upgrade system requires certain rules.
If you want to use the 8.1 to win on this laptop, you must first check if this system is available on this laptop.

On this page you will find details on the 8.1 Win
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/

So in case you want to use Win 8.1 you must check if your phone model is supported.
If it s supported, you must follow the step by step instructions how to upgrade the system to Win 8.1. All Toshiba software tools and drivers need a Win 8.1 update

In the case of the caught Win isn t 8.1 supported on this laptop, Toshiba tools and utilities will not properly operate under this system.

    Hello.

I'm trying to recreate the image on this laptop via an installer USB that I created that has Windows 7 x 64 Enterprise SP1 on it.

I was unable to boot from the USB Installer to the station via the F12 Boot menu.
Setup the USB works on another laptop or PC.
If I use a WIndows 10 x 64 USB Setup program that starts from the same laptop.

I tried different options in the Bios, also tried resetting to default values, nothing helps.

Anyone have any suggestions that I can not have tried?

  • Portege R30 does not SSD start after upgrade SSD and HDD

    Hello

I have improved my Portege R30 - A to add a second SSD (Crucial M550) replace the optical with the new SSD drive with caddy.

But now the system does not start automatically from the original SSD.

I could press F12 while turning on my laptop and make it appear the start guide. Here I can see my original SSD and I can boot from it properly.

In order to boot in the BIOS, I see only the HDD/SSD, USB, ODD memory... It doesn't gives me the possibility to choose between SSDS.

In any case when I boot in this way than getting blue screens after awhile in win7.

I tried to install a HARD drive as the second drive instead os SSD and her resut is the same.

Is that what I can do to solve this, now I have to use the second drive as an external USB drive.

    Thank you

    Hello

This ODD of SSD/HDD replacement is not always possible and in many cases, the BIOS will not handle and will not recognize the new HARD disk correctly.

That I can remember some old laptops Toshiba Tecra and Portege that supported the functionality of Slim Select Bay were able to manage the 2nd HARD drive instead of driving WEIRD, but this was not possible due to the available selection slim Bay.

In your case it looks like the laptop so that the BIOS does not support this function and, therefore, the additional SSD/HDD isn't recognised correctly.

  • Satellite L30 - frequent BSoD after upgrade of RAM.

This problem is almost identical to [this post | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=144540𣒜], but given that the response was too general and did not help, I want to provide more details about my problem and hope for a better answer.

My L35 (i.e. American L30) came with Vista Home Basic and only 512M of RAM. It was slow, but smooth otherwise. The problems started after I upgraded the RAM to 2 GB occasionally a BSoD will appear, and the computer restarts after a second or two.
Most of the time, instances of BSoD are not taken at random; usually, it happens when you watch a film or multimedia and online during the wake her up after suspend.
Also, it happens much more frequently if an external monitor is attached. He does, connect an external monitor and watch a movie will result in BSoD with 100% certainty. My laptop has shared video memory, maybe it's a question here.

The problem prevailed after that I installed Windows 7.
Memtest86 + showed no problems with my memory
Memtest86 covers all aspects of the use of the RAM?

Is it possible that some problems may be overlooked by memtest86?
Are there other tests of memory, that I could use, specifically to test the shared video memory?

Not every hardware problem can be detected software.
You have tested the RAM with Memtest86 +? Try using Memtest86 (no +).

In the worst case, you must replace the RAM. Ask the dealer for a new computer. I m sure they will help you.

  • Satellite L300D BSOD after upgrade to Windows 7

I got this laptop (Satellite L300D) for a little more than a year with windows vista (32-bit) running and there were no problems. However, I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 (x 64) and became the problems since the first reboot.

On the first reboot after installing windows 7, the computer off just after the "Starting Windows" screen Turn on again took me to the repair of the system where he performed a system restore and I was able to start successfully even once. I thought that the problem had something to do with the automatic updates, so I disabled the and tried to restart to see if the problem has been corrected. This time, after the "Starting Windows" screen I got a BSOD of unrecoverable system error. After several attempts to reboot and multiple attempts to repair system (which usually says she didn't) it started correctly again.

This problem has been going for about 3 weeks now and it is quite irritating. The results of the system of compensation for claims that a "Boot critical file is corrupt", but it starts eventually after several attempts to start. He also has a habit of turning at random during the race (it happens about once or twice a day). So from now on, whenever I chaque fois que je tente tries to start my computer it shuts down after the start screen or give the BSOD and restarts and the only way to make it work seems to be to keep trying to start and hope for a successful boot of the system upward (this happens finally after a few failed attempts).

I did some research on this and came to [this | 1251 http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?modelFilter=L300D-ST3501&rpn=PSLC8U&category=&selCategory=3&moid=222 & os = & ct = DL & selFamily = 1073768663] page. I think that's exactly what my problem is (need to update the BIOS), but if I understand correctly installing windows to do this only for 2000/xp/vista and I am unable to use the second option to boot from the disc as I get the BSOD before he gets to that point. I should try the windows install option although I am running windows 7 or is there another way to update the BIOS? Or I'm off completely and the problem is with something else?

I wasn't sure what information I would like to add to this post so if need more information please let me know.

    Thanks in advance

Edit: Oops, just realized the page I linked is not link to exactly what I had opened. I do not speak of 'critical BIOS updates for Windows 7 64-bit' under 'support form '.

    Hello

First of all, it would be interesting to know what code BSOD, you get exactly. Can you post this information useful? Normally, on the Microsoft Knowledge Base, you can find additional information about most of the BSOD codes and so you can start to solve this problem.

BSODS are often associated with drivers or RAM/HDD. The latter, you can check with special diagnostic tools, Memtest86 for RAM and Drive Fitness Test for the HARD drive. These two tools are free and you can find it using Google. You can download an iso image of them to create a bootable media where you can start the test.

Regarding your update to the BIOS: I put t know what L300D you have exactly, but according to the Toshiba site it shows an update of the BIOS also for Windows 7 64-bit. You can try to install it.

  • Satellite C660 - Windows 7 64 bit BSOD after upgrade RAM

    Hi guys

    my laptop Specs: Satellite C660-1JG
    -Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
    -Intel® Celeron® Processor T3500
    -2048 MB of RAM DDR3 (800 MHz).

recently I increase my RAM to 4 GB (2 + 2 GB), since its installation, as soon windows7 64 bit beginning of loading, finished with BSOD. load BSOD Windows sometimes very well, but in a minute or two appears. I can confirm that it does not read the total RAM of 4 GB, I checked while the laptop was about 2 to 3 minutes ON. then I go out 1 RAM stick laptop is fine, no BSOD!

so question raises if the RAM is at fault, incompatibility etc, but I have the dual boot OS and other OS is Ubuntu 11. who reads the 3.84 GB RAM and without crashing or BSOD or any question.

Then I installed Windos 7 32 bit to see if that still has problems with 4 GB of RAM, but NO, 32 bit reads RAM 4 GB (usable 2.8 GB). without crashing or BSOD with 32, only problem with windows 64-bit version!
I checked the specification it says Max RAM 4 GB Ram and yes it supports 4 GB RAM with Linux and win7 32-bit.

I tried to update BIOS version 1.20 (currently on 1.40), but still got error: Firmware has no support of Flash (AFUWINGUI).
I was wondering if any of you can guide me to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance
    Concerning

I can't say for sure, but perhaps BSOD due to a compatibility issue.
What RAM you bought as add-on (brand and specification)?

  • BSOD after with SSD Corsair Force 3 in Qosmio F750-11 t of energy saving

    Hello

Can someone give me an advisor the procedure?

I bougt the 'best' garage portable Toshiba Cosmio F750-11 t and replaced the HARD ordinary with a super fast SSD Corsair Force 3 240 GB drive. It starts Windows 7 64 bit teacher within 15 seconds and stops it in 7 seconds. Just what I need.

Of course, I reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit correctly, installed all the drivers of Toshiba real, all Windows updates. Device Manager shows no problems and everything works fine and fast
    ... except...
the blue screen that appears after the laptop should wake up from power saving mode.
I did a work around by disabling the powersaving: 2 energy lever % of the battery, the laptop just turned off. But it is only a work around not a solution.

If I were one of several forums and I saw that the SSD should be good, but the laptop is not ready to properly manage this a fast SSD. They say that the manufacturer must install a upgraded BIOS.

There will soon be a soultion by a new BIOS? Or should I replace my SSD delicious and expensive? Or re - insert the original, more power of your slow?

    Greetings
    Martin

    Hello

First of all, I wouldn't at all the gossip that someone says something.
Why must it be a BIOS problem?
Some of the F750 are equipped with the hybrid 4 G HARD disk, these drives are very fast so I wouldn't say that it is certainly a BIOS problem.

In addition, you n t use the image of Toshiba set to cause of system is not explicitly excluded

At least the SSD could cause this since it s not 100% sure if its fully compatible
I think that all of this must be respected

Of course, you can put the original HARD drive and can test the laptop using this HARD drive.
You can also test other SSDS

Have you checked if the SSD firmware must be updated?
Some manufacturers of SSDS provides updates of the firmware.

    Welcome them
