Portege Z30-A-12N - touchpad info/Tech doc. required

Hello everyone,

I would like to get technical information as much as possible on (my) laptop Portege Z30-A-12N computer touchpad.
I am a Linux developer and I would like to add the support of the ALPS touchpad at the core, however, it seems
quite difficult to get hold of all documentation Tech.

So far, the only things I know is that the touchpad signals to kernel (via the E7 and EC PS/2 commands) so:
E7 = 03 73 0 a., EC = b3 88 22

In particular, I need to know the model of the device, the ALPS PS/2 used and as much on Protocol version
the features of the device as possible.

Does anyone have more information?
Or you could point me to?
Any help much appreciated.

Details on my laptop:
Toshiba Portege Z30-A-N12
S/N: YD111643H

Thank you

vencik

Buddy, I'm afraid that's not m put these questions.
First of all the touchpad isn't designed by Toshiba but 3rd party manufacturer: I guess its Synaptics or Alps.
In my opinion you should consult touchpad manufacturer/supplier for information

    Hi all

I have a big problem with my new Portege Z30-A-12N and Hi-Speed Port Replicator III.

I connected the power, DVI, LAN, mouse and keyboard to the Port Replicator.
Power, DVI and LAN are okay, but none will be found if I connect something to the USB Ports 2.0 or 3.0.
No mouse, no keyboard, and no USB key.

When I start my Portege I must enter a password after you press the power button.
These password, I could enter with the external keyboard, but in windows, no keyboard has been found.

If I connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB Ports of the Portege instead of Port Replicator, the two has been found.

I ran Windows 7 Enterprise on the Portege.
    BIOS version is 3.30

Do you have a solution for me?

    Hello

    The HI-SPEED PORT REPLICATOR III PA5116E-1PRP supports 2 x USB 2.0 and 4 x USB 3.0 ports.
You n t special need Win 7 drivers in order to be able to use the USB ports or other interfaces such as VGA, DVI, audio, etc.

Sound problems, make sure that the audio device has been selected in the right panel-> sound-> playback tab

By the way: Win 7 needs USB driver 3.0 which is preinstalled when the laptop was equipped with USB 3.0 ports. My knowledge if your mobile phone does not support USB 3.0, you will be able to use the port replicator USB 3.0 ports.

  • Failure of Toshiba Portege Z30 Accupoint and Touchpad

    Hello Toshiba users

I bought a new Toshiba Z30 in may 2015 from a vendor on ebay in Australia online. Great laptop.

About 6 months ago the Acupoint began to move its own, so I disabled it in the settings of the mouse and used only the trackpad.

Now the trackpad works more correctly. The laptop will recognize and respond to button clicks. However (intermittently and frequently) the cursor no longer meets the entrance of the trackpad itself.

I tried to uninstall the drivers existing and windows that allows to install its own, but it did not work.

Because it is intermittent, I wonder if it is a hardware problem?

Any advice on how I could fix this?

    Thank you

    Ralph

    Solved

There are 10 small black screws on the underside of the laptop. One was missing and the others were released.

I have one of the screws placed at a strategic location near the trackpad and slightly tighten all screws.

This seems to have solved the problem I had with the accupoint drift and the trackpad that wouldn't work at all.

I'm happy to have solved this problem myself.

    Hope it helps you too.

  • Portege Z30 - customize touchpad

I like some Toshiba Z30 touchpad options, like the 2 fingers to scroll, including in web browsers.

However, I hate the back of the browser (it seems to me that it is controlled by the upper part of the touchpad).

It always changes accidentally back and forth while browsing Web pages.
Can I unable that work without disables 2 fingers to scroll?

If I uncheck 'browser user support functions' in finger scrolling properties then 2 advanced mice also stops working.

    Thank you

    Hello

It seems that the Portege Z30 would support the Alps Electric touchpad driver.

As you have probably not known touchpad modules are used in different Toshiba laptops; like touchpad Synaptics, Alps or momentum.

Mentioned modules are supported on different features so possible that the Alps touchpad would not support the same features of touchpad touchpad Synaptics or momentum module.

Anyway, the fact is that you can find all the functions of the touchpad supported:

Control Panel-> mouse-> last tab (device settings)-> the settings button.

Here, you should be able to get all the touchpad option that could be modified and changed.

  • Portege Z30 / driver Audio Replicator + Touchpad scroll problems

    Hello.

I bought a Z30 and I'm pretty happy with it that I worked for years with the Thinkpads (+ Dock)
but there are a few light (more or less can be addresses as a driver) questions that I discovered.

    Notice: I use Win7 64.

    (1) with the Replicator Docking Station, I'm not able to remove the USB Audio device is currently running.
As you play a video or music. -J' looked for a newer driver (from C-MEDIA) as the standard Microsoft Driver may not be the best choice but I have found NO Win7 drivers for this device. The pilots of C-MEDIA only I found is Win8.

    (2) ALPS Touchpad (pilot)... EH... the material error only on this model really seems to be the touchpad. It is quite difficult to click on buttons AccuPoint (those under the keyboard) and drivers of touchpard are not flexible somehow. Gestures are not actually enforced as it should... seems to be as ALPS had to work on without a lot of time. Synaptics would have been a much better choice.
The driver cannot be adjusted to speed with scroll gestures and by default is AVERAGE... really ridiculous WAY to fast. In short, it is unusable for regular use. That the effects of tape, the gesture with two fingers and also the gesture of circle. He is desperately missing from a slider to change speeds. Or at least some indication of registry settings.

Also please advice DAPS to add finger 2 tap as a regular feature in the driver. It can be used without any problem after minor registry change and it works without any problem.

    (3) in the manual NFC is listed, but I have not found ANY Z30 Z40 (Tecra) model has / contain probably the NFC module. -I've seen in some photos the flexband connector (must be for NFC) above the battery is actually present. -There will be a few spare parts (Please give me the ID number /) in the future?

    (4) smart card reader driver problem: I'm using the latest drivers and after some time and sleep (with Intel Rapid Start) the player first must be deactivated and reactivated to rework. certutil.exe - scinfo unresponsive until I have disable and re-enable the device.

    (5) I am absent in BIOS/UEFI to exclude startup devices. -This is normally a must have feature.

I think that the user manual contain parts which refers to different models of Toshiba as Portege Z30-A/Z30t-A / Satellite Z30-A/Z30t-A

Some models are equipped with an NFC function, but can not say with certainty what models support this feature exactly.
It turns out that in many cases the m2 additional connector be responsible for these additional modules.

Regarding the mode of UEFI: check if the BIOS update would add it. Some portable computers taken over this function after that the BIOS updated.

  • Portege Z30-a-1E1 - WIFI connection only 150Mbps

    Hello

Today, I received my Toshiba Portege z30-a-1e1 running Win7. I've updated all the drivers, firmware and of course Windows itself. Unfortunately the WiFi only connects up to 150 Mbps (router configured to 5 GHz only, 40 MHz wide only, only N and auto channel selection, WPA2 Personal). Other laptops at home are connecting with up to 260Mbps (even 7 Asus F8v). Portrege shows that it is connected with the 802.11n standard.

Any suggestion that I can do to activate the higher speed connectivity.

    Kind regards

    Hello

150 megabits per second transfer is not a bad value for 802.11 WLan N standard.
WLan highest transfer rate depends strongly on factors such antenna Wlan, WLan miniPCI and environment module.

Wikipedia gives this info on the standard 802.11 N standard:
… Assuming that the operating parameters equal to an 802.11 network g reach 54 megabits per second (on a single channel of 20 MHz with a single antenna), an 802.11n network can reach 72 megabits per second (on a single 20 MHz with a single channel antenna and ns 400 guard interval); of 802.11n speed can go up to 150 megabits per second, if there are no other shows Bluetooth, oven microwave or WiFi in the area using two channels of 20 MHz 40 MHz mode. If several antennas are used, then 802.11n can go up to 288 megabits per second mode of 20 MHz with four antennas, or 600 megabits per second in mode to 40 MHz with four antennas and 400 ns guard interval...

  • Portege Z30 - I am unable to send SMS

I have a Portege Z30-A-13F. On the previous Portege, Ericcson device shipped, I used the Toshiba Wireless Manager and the SMS from Toshiba utility in access card for messages (SMS).

Currently, with the integrated chip of Sierra, I am able to access the network, but there is no interface for SMS on the AirCardWatcher tool.

The Wireless Manager does not work (I think it only works with Ericsson devices).
Is it possible to use the SMS with this computer?

    Thank you very much

AFAIK this is regardless if the laptop supports the Ericson or the Sierra 3 G module.

The Toshiba Wireless Manager should work fine in two modules.

Check this document... He explains how to set up and establish a 3G connection via the Manager preinstalled Toshiba wireless.

According to the Microsoft Knowledge base, the error code 1 means that the device is not configured correctly.
One of the reasons why the device isn't configured correctly might be missing a driver or the driver / software are configured incorrectly.

    I had a problem with a new Portege Z30 - A - 13 L.

Module 3 G / 4G do not work. As a first step, the Air software map Watcher on the first Installation of Windows 7 detects the sim card and showed a signal, but it Air card Watcher Software still not said no reception (in German: Kein receipt).

I also put the right apn in the profile.
I had this problem with 2 different operators sim cards.

Cause I wanted to use Windows 8.1 anyway I installed it with the original recovery disks.
The original Windows 8.1 don t comes with Air card Watcher, so you must do with the instruments of the Board of Directors of Windows 8. Windows 8.1, I had a same problem. It detects the SIM, but it says no network (in German: Kein Netz). I put t found the possibility of changing the apn in 8.1 of Windows until you have a mobile connection.

Initially the Device Manager displays the Module of Sierra Wireless EM 7305 as a network card.
Then, I uninstalled the driver of Sierra Wireless and installed the Toshiba page.

After that the Sierra Wireless Module presents itself as a Com device in Device Manager. The cause so much of this networker of Sierra Wireless adapter isn t it, the mobile broadband connection don t even shows charms Windows 8.1 bar upward.

After that I reinstalled again the image Windows 8.1 with the original recovery disks.
I saw said that Sierra Wireless Driver has been installed, but the Module EM7305 of Sierra Wireless is presented with an exclamation mark in Device Manager.

Then I uninstalled and installed the driver manually again.
He appears again as com device in Device Manager.

So I think that the module has been a hardware failure. What do you think?

You're roaming and the selected network operator doesn't allow data services or you don t have roaming enabled for data services.

  • Satellite vs Z30 Portege Z30

From what I can tell (and confirmed to the Toshiba customer service) the Satellite Z30 is identical to the Portege Z30 except for the following differences:

    * The Portege Z30's Active Management Technology (AMT), which allows some administration remotely for enterprise environments
    * The Portege Z30 has a warranty of 3 years (1 year of the Satellite)
    * The Portege Z30 is pre-installed with Windows 7 and Windows 7 system restore partitions (and Windows media 8.1 provided) so that the Satellite comes pre-installed with Windows 8.1 system partitions and restore

My question is if the roller on an image taken of installing Windows 7 from a Portege Z30 will transfer to Satellite Z30 machines? I suspect there will be no problems with the hardware, but I'm curious about Windows activation and if the SLP on Satellites key will match the Portege.

Please be so kind and send feedback after your recovery image experience.

    Hello!
I have a problem with my Portege Z30-C-12Z. Camera in win10 does not work.
Error code: 0xA00F4273. Have tried all the following steps: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...0-71c220c123a9 and like many more check the BIOS etc.

According to me, I tried and everything, checked it please help!

    Try this:
Type of storage in the search window and go to the storage system settings page. Make sure that the economy sites point to existing folders.
I moved the files on a SD card and the camera could not find the folder of photos. Also, I've seen the suggestion to check that the folder of photos contains the security settings to allow access.

If still no good, remove the driver of the webcam from the Control Panel, then let Windows Update to install a driver for the webcam update.

Reinstall the camera application can also help.
