Portege Z30-B-100 bios update linux

Hello

I have only linux (antergos) on my Portage Z30-B-100, anyone knows anyway to Flash the bios update?

Thank you

Hello

On the page of the Toshiba UE driver you will find only the victory of the BIOS update version.
This means that the BIOS can be updated from system performance only and you must run the Windows operating system in order to start the procedure of updating the BIOS. Linux is not supported in this case...

Here you can find the how of the doc on the update of the BIOS

Is that the BIOS for computers laptop Toshiba are designed for the operating system Windows and you can update only on the Windows operating system.

  • Portege - cannot access after BIOS update

    People,

I've been struggling with this unit for some time now and I seem to be progressively worse.

My current problem is that I can access is no longer the BIOS after changing a setting in the BIOS that USB emulation (or something like that). I was trying to make the boot from a USB device and turn well enough with all the settings to see what would work.

This one has not. And now the unit no longer meets the F2. It is as if he is ignorant of the keyboard. DOH!

Is it possible to reverse or re-flashing the BIOS? Or another way to access? I tried an external keyboard, without success.

    How did I get here?

Well... I was given this unit to factory State, and I couldn't find an obvious option that would do that, other than Maintenance Toshiba utility which looked hopeful. He offered to erase the partition (which, at the time, seemed fair enough) - BUT THIS "S all there - the machine just starts repeatedly, displays"Please insert system disk"and then reboots.»

OK, I'm a jerk - but it seems ridiculous for Toshiba to offer an option that instantly brick machine?

In any case, I moved this problem to one that is much more serious. Not being is not able to access the BIOS means I have all the options - unless one of you wonderful people help me to discover one.

    Help

I have since discovered that setting depending on whether I was going to set - Secure Boot - may have solved the problem - but now that F2 has no effect, so I "can't" to try it.

What model phone you have and what operating system are you using?

If you use Win8.1, you have access to some BIOS settings using settings in the control panel. Check it out please.

  • Portege Z930: The update of the BIOS with LINUX/UNIX OS

    Hello.

I manage a COMPUTER company, and some of our facilities are portege z930.

We use Linux as main OS, and in order to use all the disk space, we erased the Windows partition.

How can I update the BIOS of a Linux operating system? I asked a support company official technichal, and they told me that they use a special live linux CD managed by Toshiba.

I don't know if I can get this cd somehow live. If this isn't the case, I would like to know how to upgrade our Bios without having to reinstall the Windows operating system.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know on the download page of the BIOS that Toshiba offers the Windows version only. Of way General Linux is not supported.
Try to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Maybe they can get this special CD.

By the way: why you didn t prepared machine (BIOS update) before starting to install Linux?

  • Re: Portege Z30 - A - Bios update 3, 80-WIN using Win 7 64 bit

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Portege Z30 - A
Maybe someone was able to perform the bios upgrade in windows 7 64 bit?

    @tomek_1

May I ask if you get an error message trying to update the BIOS?
The downloaded BIOS package contains the exe to 3, 80 - WIN_ECB1.40.
It is also a zipped folder. You can unzip the file using WinRAR or WinZip software.

After that, you will get 16 files. I found the AutoExec file that seems to be the file that starts the BIOS update procedure.

  • Portege Z30 - B - Toshiba picture after change for Linux installation

    Hello.

    I just bought Portege Z30 - b.

I want to replace windows with linux (fedora I think), I did the windows image by using Recovery Media creator on USB.

So if now I will install linux I delete all the files on the SSD.
Maybe futture I want to reuse windows, can I return to original state by using this USB?

If I install this linux, what happens with toshiba tools accessed through the BIOS/UEFI?

Where can I get windows CDkey?

    Thanks for the help!

    BTW: great laptop!

can I go back to original state using this USB?

Yes, recovery would fix the laptop back to factory settings.

If I install this Linux, what happens with Toshiba tools accessed through the BIOS/UEFI?

I'm afraid that I'm not sure what you mean exactly with Toshiba tools accessed through the BIOS...

Toshiba tools do not support Linux... you can install Linux but Toshiba software wouldn't. But you can still access the F2 BIOS support and turn the device

  • How downgrade the BIOS on Portege Z30 - B?

    Hi all

I updated the BIOS on my laptop Z30-B-119, and it is much worse than the original BIOS, so I want to downgrade it.
There is no way to save the original BIOS during the update and the previous BIOS is not available on the site.

Someone has the original BIOS and knows how to extract?

Maybe someone knows how to contact Toshiba technical team directly? (Don't see what they have implemented in new BIOS, I have no hope they read on this forum or user opinions).

If you're wondering why I want to downgrade and what's wrong with him, see below for an explanation.

I was convinced that the new BIOS might resolve the problem with the fan, which works well too early, but it turned out they made much worse! The fan will now light at 42 °. Seized 50 °, which was already a Toshiba engineers stupid choice, provided that the side of the CPU temperature is 105 °, so that they could keep the laptop quiet at least until 60 °, especially as many people's complaint of the fan in this model. Instead, Toshiba has done the opposite and lowered the temperature even more.

How foolish choice their engineers do, I will never buy another Toshiba and will not recommend anyone buy their products. But since I have already made the mistake one bought a Toshiba laptop, I hope that I will be able to downgrade the BIOS or contact them to request an update.

Let me know if you know how to do it.

I assume that Z810 Portege European must be like us Z830/Z835 (PT224x/PT225x) so I ve checked the page American support for the update of the BIOS and here's the info on the BIOS updates:

  • Portege Z835 - need help with BIOS update

    Hello.

I have a Portege Z835, with a battery problem: do not load. The battery indicator says "3% connected load" but it doesn't load the battery.

Some forums said that the solution is updating the Bios. I have a Bios Update v.1.60 ready to install. When I try to install, we get the message "the battery power is not enough.

My power cord is still connected. If I unplug the power cord, the laptop is turned off.

    Please, what can I do?

    Thank you.

    F.

To be honest I don't think it's the related issue of the BIOS. AFAIK battery must be charged, even if the laptop is turned OFF so why BIOS update if the battery can not be charged at all.

To me that sounds like hardware related issue.

    How old is your Portege?
    Warranty is still valid?

Maybe you should contact Toshiba service and ask for help or even their opinion.

  • Satellite Z830 - update of the BIOS under Linux?

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite z830, which I am very happy.

Given that requires it my work, I wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu linux instead of the default Windows installation.
Now I want to update the BIOS with the latest version, but unfortunately it is only available as a windows .exe

Is it possible to upgrade the version of BIOS using only Ubuntu?

    Thank you

    -Chris

Since the European driver page Toshiba simply provides a Win-based BIOS update version, you'll need an OS running in the window to update the BIOS-based victory. :(

    Hello!

I think that in this case you must go to an ASP. I put t see another solution for this problem because I think the ROM module has to be reflashed or the card mother completely must be replaced.

On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

And if you don t find an ASP in your country please contact an ASP in another country. I'm sure they will try to help you.
