Portege Z930 cannot start with installed RAM module

My laptop Toshiba Portege Z930-108 has stopped booting with any module of RAM installed in the support.

If I remove RAM module, laptop computer starts and works fine, but if I install any module of RAM (4 GB 1600 original or a new 4 1600 CL9 or 1600 8 CL11) the computer cannot start.

The screen stays black and power led flashing two green and two orange and a few seconds later, 3G indicator also on blue.

This is the only problem I have with this computer, but it's strange.

I updated the BIOS to the latest version and the problem is not resolved.

I tried to reset the hardware (http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03J90000R01.htm), also I tried to reset the equipment with power button 30 seconds without battery but button without success.

Any idea on this problem of strage?

Kind regards
Lito.

I guess you used bad RAM or not fully compatible modules.
It's the only plausible explanation.

I recommend you to order the RAM modules recommended by Toshiba that are:

4 GB DDR3 - 1600 PA5037U-1M4G

2 GB DDR3 - 1600 PA5037U-1M2G

I have two of these laptops, both purchased at the same time.
I upgraded to 320 GB hard drive and tried to move the RAM to 4 GB as the spec States can be made.

I used the recommended type of RAM, but the computer does not start with two RAM modules inserted. If I remove one of them, the laptop boots! I thought that I update the BIOS but found the only version available on the download web site is the same as I.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?

What RAM you bought? I think that the modules are not compatible or your chipset does not support the 4 GB.
Check it with CPU - Z!

You could test the RAM with Memtest86 ([www.memtest86.com]).

I doubt that a BIOS update will solve the problem. A more recent BIOS does not change the decision-making ability and/or supported RAM.

  • Cannot start with the CD after trying to install Linux

    Hello!

There is a very bad problem with my satellite 2450 s203 :( I have windows xp and then I decided to install Linux. I formatted all hard, but there were some problems with installing Linux (defective disc) and I had to reboot laptop. But then I have the Toshiba logo, there are the following: F1 Linux

But after pressing F1, nothing happens! :( Also I can not boot from my cd, even after changing the boot options in the BIOS! I can boot from the diskette. I tried discs from Microsoft for win98 startup disk, back 6.22, win xp sp1 & sp2 - but there were errors in these diskettes. (E.g. *.exe not found, but there is an archive *.) So, how can I now install an operating system on my laptop? If I have managed to install the cd drivers I think that the problem will be offered...
I am waiting for your reply, yours sincerely, X-Fau1t.

    Hello

It's very strange that you can not use the bootable CD. Please try to use recovery media delivered. When you turn on the device, please press the C button and keep it down for a few seconds. Normally on this way the device CD/DVD should be the first to start the procedure.

  • Z820 - BIOS updated to v2.55 - cannot start or install the installation of Windows 7 (UEFI) disc

    Hello

I have serious problems with the boot and install Windows 7 on my Z820.

My problems started with Windows Boot Manager, throwing an error in the boot, saying that "the Windows Boot Configuration data file is missing required information". In the end, I decided to do a full clean reinstall of WIndows. However, I was unable to get Windows 7 installed. I was able to boot the disc at retail of Windows 7 64-bit UEFI mode, but he had problems with the installation. Each attempt ended with an error stating that 'Windows could not update the configuration to start the computer. Installation cannot continue. ».

It was the BIOS v2.08. Intel 520 (240 GB) SSD as boot drive and 2 TB SATA HARD drive as data disc on the ports of controller LSI 2308 0 and 1 respectively. 2 DVD players on Intel AHCI ports.

I decided to take a different path.

I removed my data HDD and a DVD of the Z820 player. I put my SSD (which will become the startup disk) and a DVD player on both ports to AHCI.

I've updated the Z820 BIOS with the latest version (v2.55, February 13, 2013), did a reset CMOS (machined cable disconnected) and reset the BIOS to factory default settings. Then, I put 'OptionROM mass storage' mode EFI and the storage on AHCI mode.

Now, when I put in retail Windows 7 SP1 64-bit installation DVD and select the drive of DVD (UEFI) to start, I get just a flashing dash. I noticed also that some fans begin immediately turn faster.

    To summarize:

I am unable to boot Windows 7 SP1 64 bit DVD installation detail at all and therefore impossible to install Windows 7.

Configuration of the system (as in the last installation attempt):

    -Dual Xeon E5-2680

    -32 GB OF RAM DDR3-1600 PC3-12800

-240 GB SSD IDE AHCI Intel oucederomsurlesecondport 520

    DVD player - Harbour AHCI

    -NVIDIA Quadro 4000

-BIOS v2.55 (OptionROM in EFI, Secure Boot disabled mode mass storage)

    I'm getting desperate... ;-)

Should I try reseating the RAM modules? Remove some RAM? Connect my monitor differently (currently DVI to VGA)? Replace the graphics card?

    Kind regards

    Dries

  • Tecra S3 - cannot use the new RAM modules in the B slot

    Hi all

I just bought two RAM modules of 1 GB to replace my old 512 MB one. This, as far as I know, is the maximum allowed by my Toshiba Tecra S3 (PTS30E-01000QSP).

When I put a module in A slot, the machine works perfectly; If I place a second in location B, the computer tries to start but, at a time given, it freezes just (no activity of the HARD drive or changes on the screen) and the fun begins racing on as if some process crashes in the CPU to heat that make it up. At this point, I was always afraid that the heat can damage the computer and be turned off by pressing the on/off switch, so I can't tell if the problem is solved simply waiting.

I swapped the two modules on A slot and the two work well when they are the only one on the machine. Pretty funny if I place (as is the case now) has the old 512 MB in the location B as well as a single module of 1 GB in slot, it works!

My BIOS has been upgraded to the last, that I could find in these same pages (version 3.20 if I'm not mistaken), but it made no difference. If I enter the page of the BIOS when the two 1 GB modules are present, the BIOS recognizes that they are there. This behavior occurs when I try to start Windows or Linux.
Honestly, I'm puzzled. Someone has an idea what can happen and how I could place the two modules on my machine?

Thank you very much and sorry for the long post

    O.

    Hello

The modules you purchased exactly for your Tecra S3? Maybe that they are not compatible with the laptop and it hangs after a few minutes.

Normally, the Tecra S3 can handle up to 2 GB and that means 1 GB in each slot. For modules of Toshiba part number is PA3411U-1M1G.

In my opinion you should try it with other modules with original 512 MB module everything works so I guess your new RAM is the cause of this problem.

  • Satellite A-C55-1JL - compatibility with the ram module

I want to upgrade the RAM in my Toshiba C55-A-1JL. Standard module is Hynix PC3L bitensión 4 GB. But on the slot, I saw the text "1.5V. I bought the 4 GB of Kingston module with identical parameters as Hynix module, only the voltage is different. Kingston module is only 1.5V voltage.

My question is: what voltage supports the mainboard that laptop? Can I use this add-on from Kingston with original Hynix ram module?

    Standard module's voltage Hynix PC3L

This means that the module supports 1.35v or 1.5V

Can I use this add-on from Kingston with original Hynix ram module?

In the worst case if you use the not entirely compatible RAM module, the laptop does not start up... try it

It was also like that before I changed the keyboard, so this isn't the issue. Server starts fine and then I get the message: "'remove the disc or the media, press any key to restart" "

It worked fine a few days ago. The usb boot works OK on my Hp workstation...

I have a windows server 2008R2, installed on the server, but the usb boot worked fine when this OS is installed... So nothing has really changed, he just stopped wanted for a startup with USB... I loaded the default bios setting... IM lost here please help!

  • Satellite Pro C50-A-1E4 running unstable with new RAM modules

I have the above machine and that you have upgraded the RAM (up to 8 GB) a long while ago. Normally I have upgraded the BIOS if there is a new version.

However, for some so that my machine was unstable, and this is due to the RAM running at the XMP1866 of the machine (933 MHz) instead of the rated CPU 1600 (800 MHz). I have attached a screengrab of Piriform Speccy to report.

There is no 1.40 BIOS UEFI framework to adjust the RAM timing and so BIOS supports data SPD incorrectly for CPU ID.

I'm unable to locate earlier BIOS to check if this pattern is repeated, but it took more than a year to display fault so that the machine is out of warranty. If I put small sticks of RAM 1600 system seems stable.

However, I bought the RAM to use. Now I am unable to test if RAM is faulty because she will not pass Memtest (blocking or crash on) but I'm not sure if instability of the system is defective cause of system being OC because of the BIOS or RAM.

The question that he is perfectly for about a year before displaying the errors. BIOS should correctly detect the speed of JEDEC standard data in the EEPROM. He does not. I often ran "overspec' memory in other PC without encountering this behavior. It is only troubleshooting that made me aware of this gap.

    RAM is Crucial Ballistix 8 GB-1866 BLS8G3N18AES4CEU.16FE

If I put small sticks of RAM 1600 system seems stable.

I doubt that it is a BIOS problem...
First of all, you can not use any module of RAM... you must use a fully compatible modules and as you probably know, not all commercially available RAM modules are fully compatible.

As far as I know if upgrading RAM that Toshiba recommends the use of these modules.

    4 GB DDR3 - 1600 PA5037U-1M4G
    8 GB DDR3-1600 PA5037U-1M8G

    The specifications are:
    Memory speed: 1600 Mhz PC3-12800
    Capacity: 8GB
    Pins: 204 SODIMM
    Type of RAM: DDR3 SODIMM
    Rank: Rank double
    Latency (CL) CASES: CL11
    Voltage: 1.5V

I recommend you use the modules that meet exactly the same specifications.

  • Why the Pan & Zoom Tool cannot start with the frame using photos

I used the animation panning and zoom in Microsoft Movie Maker - and want the same ease of use in any other program (I find that he does a great job of a soundtrack placement and text/image) see options from the menu below...   I purchased Premiere Elements after watching a short video of the pan & zoom tool - but now I'm trying to use it it falls way short.

Y at - there a way for me to select the whole photo as the starting frame – in the screenshot below that frame 1 will extend to the entire photo, so I'm going with a cropped image.  I want the full Frame of the photo and then be able to zoom and pan in the direction of faces - while I can still do it with the cropped image I lost part of my picture and the context it provides.

  • Company that multiple instances cannot start with port set to 80

I have three instances: main forum is for cfadmin site, then, two are my websites.

    cfusion-> site cfadmin - port http < white - > remote port 8014 - host localhost - cluster no

    cfusion2-> site 1 - port 80 - remote port 8012 http - host localhost - cluster no

    cfusion3-> 2 - port 8501 http site - remote port 8011 - host localhost - cluster no

cfusion2 does not start and the instance Manager page refreshes just without message, and there is no log system or cf with errors. I use the Chrome browser, I gave up on Internet Explorer (event after adding the sites to the safe zone).

I then configure the third-party site using WSCONFIG in the hope that it will use cfusion3 server but on the contrary it is selected automatically cfusion.

I could really use some help here. Thanks in advance.

Well, I received my case running and each with its own windows service. More I don't get the blank page of death, and I did not manually change the configuration files in order to make this work.

When CF instances are created, it creates a copy of the file cfusion for himself. and so in itself, there's also a runtime/bin folder that contains the WSCONFIG tool. So rather than create a CF Connector for my IIS sites using the main cfusion WSCONFIG tool I had use every tool within each instance. Many of you probably already knew that.

It was recommended by Anit Kumar to activate the embedded server so that port 8500 is busy before creating instances so that the newly created instances do not automatically pick up port 8500.

Thanks to Alexis who helped every step of the way and that got my server correctly setup.

For anyone doing a new installation on windows server, be sure to run the installer with administrator rights. In addition, make sure that your cf installation folder has the appropriate permissions. Initially, I gave everyone full control of my installation folder, then after its installation and work I started to follow the recommendations of Peter CF 11 Lockdown Guide permissions. follow http://www.Adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/ColdFusion/PDFs/cf11/cf11-Lockdown-GUID

Adobe CF, could you guys add some stuff and how simple instructions on the page instance in CF Administrator Manager? He must know that bodies have their own WSCONFIG tool and should be used for the planned sites. Also, I think that additional instances should start with port 8501, 8500 should be left alone for the integrated server option. This could avoid installation problems. Oooh, also if possible in the instance Manager add an action button that opens its own WSCONFIG tool. Action can be called "add a website".

  • Cannot start WXP installed on my Satellite Pro A60

    Hello

I just got a Satellite Pro A60 of second hand. He had installed xp pro, but I did have no password. , so I formatted the drive and made two partitions. There are 30 GB and the other approximately 7 GB.

I tried to install a WXP Pro copy that has worked for me before, but he would not complete the installation. Now, I have a Toshiba Recovery disk. When I use the recovery CD, the installation goes fine, but when its full and restarts, the laptop does not start in Windows.

He comes to Toshiba screen twice then WXP logo appears for a moment about 10 seconds or more, then go back to the f8 screen. Last time, he said it could be due to a hardware change with these lists of 'safe mode' options, safe mode with command prompt mode implementation network, security, last known good configuration. I tried all the but still cannot boot into windows.

The hard drive has the files I used l-soft active@killdisk unerasor tools, change password and partition Viewer, I could see the file system of windows etc. Laptop has 512 MB RAM, 40 GB drive HARD, Celeron.

I just updated the bios to V1.90 by CD-ROM. Please can someone help me?
    Thank you

    Hello

You have installed the operating system from the recovery CD Toshiba but have you used the original Toshiba comes with this laptop recovery CD?

The BSOD appears mainly due to hardware failure or the software flaw serious
The Toshiba Recovery CD contains all the drivers needed and tools, but if you use a recovery CD badly the pre-installed drivers can cause the error and BSOD could appears.

However if some hardware like the memory module or the graphics card is damaged the BSOD are included also.

When removing the old memory and leaving the new, the computer isn't even strats. Some info:
    Old memory - Samsung M4 70T5663QZ3-CF7 2 GB DDR2 - 800 DDR2 SDRAM (6-6-6-18 @ 400 MHz) (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz)
    New memory - Spectek DDR2 2 GB PC6400 800 MHz 200 pin

So, what's the problem? And what can I do?
    Thank you

    Hello

Theoretically, it should be possible to use 4 GB in this notebook.

The new RAM is the manufacturing of Spectek. This production does not for me. For me, looks not dear noname module.

I always use Kingston modules to upgrade my laptop. I've never had any problems with these modules, so you should try it to.
I think that the new module isn't compatible with your laptop.

  • Portege 2000 cannot start after suspend

    Hi guru,.

I'm new to this forum. So I looked through the first forum hoping to get an answer to my problem before posting, but no good result.

Here's my problem. My portege 2000 works before brilliantly. But last night, while I was trying to configure my APM suspend (this is the first attempt to suspend), the problem, the system freezes! Then I tried to restart, can not remember I turn it off by pressing the button for a few seconds or unplug the hand because of the power key is not, in any case I have wait a few seconds after that, then turn on the power again, but the system seems to be dead, the AC power led is under voltage green LED, battery was not in the slot so no sign for her, the small button Fn LED told me this Fn key works well, but the caplock key does not work because its LED is not turn on after pressing, the screen is blank, or should say it is not powered on, the hard drive does not turn.

So I unloaded the system by unplugging it from the main. After a while I swhitch on once again, the laptop is still in the same situation. Therefore, I tried to unload everything, disconnect the hand, open up the laptop, unplug the CMOS battery, wait for a while (15-20 minutes), then put it back on, but no joy.

I did some research on Google at this time and read the knowledge base on the web site of Toshiba, seems the problem come with BIOS, who say that the system does not start if the power is off during suspend mode for the original version of BIOS (later healed). So, I decide to Flash a BIOS to most recent version. I have a pc card floppy drive, so I download the BIOS and create the floppy, then I use the key to update the BIOS to power on the laptop, luckily this time it works, "ready to update bios" screen appear. But when I press the key on the keyboard, it seems that it does not access the pc card floppy drive.

By this incident, I think that the material has no problem, but the system is in standby for ever. Guru of the idea?

    Therefore, I have 2 questions:
    1. how to make it back to the start mode so that I can start my system? I need this as well according to the Readme of the BIOS update package, it should be in start mode, no interruption/recovery mode.
    2. how flashing a new bios in this situation? Do I need a USB floppy drive to do the BIOS to recognize that there is a drive so that I can Flash a new bios in there? Or the system will analyze not for material in this mode 'freezes '?

Sorry about the long story, but I think I must tell him that you guys understand the situation and what I've tried so far.

Additional information on my system, I'm under debian linux etch on this laptop, and everything that happened after I typed the command "apm-s". But it seems to me that it is the problem of BIOS problem OS?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

First question: How did you install the operating system if the laptop will not start?

I'm a bit confused Mr. I put t you know what means the boot mode.

If the laptop has been completely stopped down so it s in the boot mode (standby or hibernation mode don t mix).
If you want to update BIOS please make sure the BIOS is good and that you use the right update procedure.

Where did you find the information that the BIOS update will solve this problem?
In any case, for me, it looks more like an electrical problem on the motherboard.
