  Have not used my laptop for the last 45 days and have not installed anything new. W7, 64-bit running. Just used on these days and it will not be closed. When I stopped it just hangs and displays that says: "if it please do not turn off or unplug your machine. Installation of update 1 of 1 ". This can last for hours.

  I thought that since I had not used the computer laptop or literally turned on for about 45 days, that maybe I was missing a few important Windows updates, but when I go to Windows update via Control Panel and click on Windows Update to search for updates, it "just hangs" it thus, showing never updates available. Last update of the W installed was 26/03/16 and laptop worked OK.

  Any ideas?

  I downloaded ccleaner pro (first edition) and scanned the hard drive. I checked 'fix all issues' and it worked! Whatever files or conflicts on the register or wherever was causing the 'hang up' were eliminated obviously that my laptop was able to stop. :-)

  Hey well, good news! Before I decided to replace it, I thought that 'let me play with him' and open the computer and tried to get out.  Well, I got all the cancelled screws and plugs disconnected, but I couldn't drag him completely out of the slot, I tried several times without success.  He would slide approximately 1/2 in. and then stop.  So I gave up, he slipped into place, screwed it back in, plugged everything back in and voila, it works!  I don't know what was going on.  There was a strip of clear band they put on the machines when they send their, a thin strip through the logo Dell Isnpiron on top of the drive with a shot to the back corner, maybe the edge of the door that was contagious?  I pulled it off.  No matter what.  It works, thank the Lord.  But out of curiosity, how one removes this player?  I couldn't go out for the life of me.

  The problem started when I upgraded my BIOS version A06 to A13 (running A14 now). Now, whenever I turned off my computer, the lights are still up and the fan runs. In order to stop completely, I have to press the "switch" button.

  My warranty expired a year ago.

  Anyone know how to fix this? I suspect there is something wrong with my motherboard, since I can't even get into the BIOS setup when I start my computer.

  Has anyone tried to replace the motherboard? What type of motherboard do need me? Is it possible to buy the "original" Alienware mobo?

  I hope someone is able to help. Comments or suggestions are welcome.

  It seems that your CD/DVD drive can not handle this type of CD.
  Like you probably n t know the CD/DVD drive doesn t support all CDs and DVDs of all manufacturers. Sometimes it may happen that a CD/DVD player will not be able to manage this support

  Have you tried to burn this CD on another CD (support) and then to play?

  I use a unit of reconditiioned Dell 8300 with XP Professional system.  The unit was slow and gel a bit so, in one of the slow itls break cycles I insereted in the toolbar an old XP disc I had to front to see if that would help and after I closed the tray I noise loud crash and the tray came out showing broked pieces of the disc. I flipped the unit and hit the bottom and more pieces of the disc came out.  Now the set is not closed.  If I insert a workable disc and maintain status bar tap it will not do anything and a window tells me to insert a disc. Shou ld I try to disassemble the unti to see if there's still some piece or pieces preventing reset the tray?   I'm really sorry to laugh, but this is a funniest post I've ever seen. Apparently you've damaged the device rom (cd/dvd drive) replace it with a new one. They measure less $ $30 .00usd. Furthermore, placing the old drive in the drive xp will not improve the performance of the computer. Looks like you have some malware. I recommend that you post in the section virus/malware of the forum on the link below for a complete analysis. The forum is free. While I could recommend some scanners, I think you need a full inspection.

• My laptop took more than 12 hours to install an update from windows and is still doing, and will not be closed.

  I use Vista and an HP Pavilion laptop. I noticed the closing down and install updates logo was so I used it and my laptop started to install 2 updates (June 18, 2011).
