Porting, which is developed in BB JDE 4.7 in Blackberry Torch

Hello

I put a BB JDE 4.7 application

I tested the app in the Simulator 4.7.0

The application has a basic user interface (buttons, choice fields, change fields and three screens and pop-up windows)

It is an application to send and receive messages of Type 0.

He has two sons and the main UI thread.

right now I'm working on auto execute the part of demand (sms listener).

I intend to move the Blackberry Torch device soon

Question 1: know if I can port the same application that is developed using BB JDE 4.7 in Blackberry torch? Is it necessary to download BB JDE 6.0 to develop for Blackberry Torch?

Question 2: If I can use the same application and even BB JDE 4.7, if I can still use Blackberry device Simulator 6 as well as the BB JDE 4.7 version?

Question 3: What are the complications I have got to face the passage to BB JDE 6.0?

an application developed in 4.7 (with touch user interface in mind) should run on the torch without any problem.

You can download a torch Simulator to test if you do not have a real device.

  • Makefiles when porting to a development tree

I tried to follow the guidelines for porting of a Makefile project, but extremely difficult to manage a hierarchy of directories when porting.

My code is all Vanilla C++, so I don't want not targeted to any operating system or specific CPUS.

When I create an empty project in the IDE, the root directory has a makefile with LIST = CPU and the only option seems to be to put the tree source in this directory (removal of all the project directory structure), which is unfeasable and unacceptable.

So I try to move the "arm" and "x 86" files in a subdirectory 'cpu', copy the main Makefile, create a 'common' subdirectory and delete the LIST = line CPU from the root makefile. "." Now things look like this:

    root
        common.mk <- unchanged
        bar-descriptor.xml <- unchanged
        Makefile <- removed LIST=CPU
        cpu
            Makefile <- has LIST=CPU
            arm
            x86
        common

Well, it does not work. When I build, I get:

    make [2]: * no rule for target ' / Developer/SDKs/bbndk-2.0.1/target/qnx6/usr/include/mk/nto_.mk'. Stop.

Search on Google, he seems to break on my subdirectories of project because a CPU has not been set. But the content of my project is independent of CPU. How can I go about creating a directory tree in this environment?

    Thank you

    Dan.

Hello Dan, thanks again for the clarification, I am also able to reproduce the error you get. Here's how to get the compilation...

    1. remove the Makefile in the directory "common". This is what is causing your error.

    2. in the file "common.mk" in the root directory, add the line

    EXTRA_SRCVPATH += $(current_dir) / municipality

(note that this is in the common.mk not the makefile)

Select debugging device, clean and build.

    See you soon

Well, then your USB port is likely.

Restart the PC and BlackBerry (with smart BlackBerry power onthe phone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart).

Then, connect with the USB cable and a rear main USB port at the back of the PC, not a front USB port.

Hear a ringing or sound from the PC indicating that the BlackBerry is connected?

Start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software. Give it a minute to recognize the connected BlackBerry device... you see the code PIN of BlackBerry on the PC in the BlackBerry Desktop software?

  • Advice on the use of HR ePub Format & Mobile device

    Hi all

I would like some advice on format ePub and help for mobile devices using RoboHelp authoring.

I need to create online help for a Contact folder management base system which will be available on the iPhone, Android, iPad, BlackBerry Torch, etc.. I use RoboHelp 8 and that you have followed the instructions on the Adobe blog to generate ePub format. I am trying to determine if I have to use this format. The way I see it, I could use the ePub format or edit the CSS so that the help content appears large enough on the screens of the mobile device.

Is the main advantage of using the format ePub his abililty to resize the content? I guess it would be useful, because the application will support Smartphones and tablets. My other concern is also to create an online help that requires users to download an ePub reader. Most mobile devices are compatible ePub? I know that the iPad, but I'm not sure of smartphones.

If someone has created for mobile devices help using RoboHelp and can offer suggestions, I would appreciate it.

    Hello

I doubt that ePub is the way to go if you want to provide assistance. ePub is a format for eBooks, and you must download the ePub to view. ePub has no definition page paper being present in PDF format and it is ideal for phones, ebook readers, tablets, etc. which do not have the page size to match the size of the paper. Most phones and Tablet equipped with an eBook application installed.

I think a simple site to help would be much more useful as a help (if you indeed need to). WebHelp of RoboHelp is not optimized * couch * for mobile devices. As long as you call only a topic, you should be fine. I think showing skin is a no go as it eats way to much space on a mobile device.

Perhaps a simple site optimized for mobile devices is much more useful. Take a look at the mobile site of project gutenberg: http://m.gutenberg.org/

It is a mobile site that I love, but I fear that RoboHelp is unable to create this kind of output. Maybe an interesting feature for version 10.

On the CSS: You can use relative sizes, such as em. These scale based on the settings of the device. Using em seriously confuses the WYSIWYG in Robo 8. Take a look at: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_units.asp

    Take a bow

  • Can JDE 4.7 develop program to load into the curve or "BOLD"?

    Hello world

I have a question. If I use a fix width and height, which is 320 x 240 to develop software. JDE 4.7 allows you to compile and load in BlackBerry Curve, Storm, and "BOLD".

Can be loaded with success with just bad position? (Original in the storm: main screen in the Middle-> lead curve: main screen align left... so I just need to calculate the display.getwidth () to get the midpoint.)

I ask this question because I only have a storm Simulator and JDE 4.7, which is the most recent. I don't really know if their production (cod file) can be loaded successfully in another machine...

  • I could develop Java Application for Blackberry device software version 5.0 to 6.0 JDE

    Hi, expert,

I saw this line of the ' BlackBerry Java Development Environment - 4.7.0 - fundamentals Guide'.

    It is said:

    ===============================

With each major version of the BlackBerry Device Software and the FMV of BlackBerry, Research In Motion includes the
corresponding Java API and version of the BlackBerry® Java® development environment. The version of the BlackBerry device
Software determines the version of the BlackBerry® integrated development environment that you can use to develop
applications. For example, RIM released BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 and BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 in even
time. BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 supports APIs that were introduced in BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0
    and BlackBerry JVM version 4.0.

The applications that you create by using BlackBerry JDE Version 4.0 only work on BlackBerry devices
running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 or later.

    =========================

The last sentence talking about version 4.0 of JDE. I think that would mean that I could not develop a java application on JDE 6.0 for Blackberry 5.0 version of the software, even if I do not use any new API to 6.0. However, it seems to me that it is a useless limitation. Could someone throw some lights on it?

I'm going to agree with superdirt here.

I have the 5.0 OS update of applications work well on OS 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 of the OS OS phones. I try not to recompile for levels of the OS, if I can, and so far I've been perfectly safe with OS 5.0 running on the later levels of the operating system. So you should be able to get away with just using OS 5.0.

Not that it is important for you, but I just thought I documents some historical information about level changes. .

As far as I know it 2 change cod in the file format, one to the 4.0 OS and the other in OS 4.2. Therefore, if you want to run anything in OS 6.0 or above, it must be compiled in OS 4.2 or higher. Again, I have applications compiled to OS 4.2 running on OS 6.0, without no problem devices.

There have been changes to the API - the result is that the code that works in OS xx does not work in OS yy where yy is after xx. I hit a few of them and have so far managed to rework the code so that it works very well on both levels of the operating system. In general it is things that I do wrong anyway, as the older operating systems (from memory) are not as strict on when the event Thread must be used.

The problem with OS 4.7 compatibility is an impact and to get more of this, for devices touch screen only, I compile using OS 4.7. If an application that uses only the functionality that was available in the OS 4.2, I compile on OS 4.2 for non touch screen phones and OS 4.7 for touchscreen phones. And everything works fine.

    I hope this helps.

  • Toshiba RL900A: Is it possible to change the label of ports of entry?

Is there a way to choose your own labels for the input ports on the TV series, as the choice of entry provided do not give sufficient device names to identify the sources of signal.

My previous Toshiba model (32c3000a) has allowed me to develop my own names for ports, which was more useful.

I recommend reading the part of its control (user manual starting on page 23)

  • Difference between C/C++ Native Development & Cascades QT C++ development

What is the difference betwwen development C/C++ native development & C++ QT Cascades.

I assume you're referring to Kits SDKS listed on this page:

    https://developer.BlackBerry.com/DevZone/platforms/BB10

C/C++ native Development Kit is everything you need to encode a native C/C++ application to run on the BlackBerry PlayBook and the next BlackBerry 10 devices. The API described should give you everything you need to develop all the components of your application, from the ground up. If you have an existing application, you can probably start here. This SDK is ideal for access to the low-level API.

However, it does not come with a user interface toolkit. You have literally everything code yourself, or help existing libraries to the port for you. You probably don't want to do. Instead, you can watch the C + c++ / Qt Cascades Development kit. This SDK provides you with everything you need to develop an application for BlackBerry 10 devices to come. You can still access all the low-level APIs, if you need it, but because Qt adds so much and is so powerful, almost everything you need is probably already there.

Basically, Qt will provide you with the API call and use in your application. These libraries are open source which have been reviewed for many years and will probably accomplish everything you need. Go further, Cascades is the toolkit of user interface of choice in the native development, as it offers UIS amazing, fluid and easy implementation in your application.

Note that I never mentioned the PlayBook by discussing the C + c++ / Cascades of Qt kit. The PlayBook is not supported with native support for this mode of development, but it will come with 10 BlackBerry is released later this year.

Basically, the native C/C++ SDK provides you with the nuts and bolts, you must develop an application from scratch. But why would you, when C + c++ / Qt Cascades Development kit includes many libraries for things you probably want to do.

Unless you develop a game, a porting library, or the need to develop for the PlayBook today, using C + c++ / Qt Cascades development kit.
