possible scam of phone microsoft

Hello - I got daily phone calls from "No. Caller ID" people claiming to work for Microsoft with regard to hacking my account. All of the appellants had an Indian accent and some have hung up when I asked for a number to call back on until today.

An Indian lady gave me his details and asked me to call her back on:

Microsoft, Thames Valley Park, Reading

1721 employee ID

Amanda Parker

0118-328-2346

still sounds dubious and I not call her back, as the "Amanda Parker" does not sound of Indian decent?

is the normal procedure of Microsoft to call me by phone without previous introduction of myself?

I recently lost a laptop computer so am curious, could be something to do with it?

Help, please?

Thank you

Paul.

There is information in my previous answer on how to report it.

Sometimes 1000 times a day all over the world.

  • Can I have fallen for a scam of phone

    Separated from this thread.

I think someone made a scam and use of microsoft windows as there is a way to enter your House.  I need to know if it's a scam. I got a cal from windows telling me the last 2 weeks my computer has een get a virus and will break unless a representative of your company out to solve the problem.  They even had my home.  My computer works well and still be notified if there is an alert any.  Help!

27 January 2015, I received a call also say my computer is having problems and if I didn't remove the unwanted files all my free space would be used upwards. Because I'm having problems and need to get my Web page all the time and I report my problems to Microsoft, I thought that's why they called me. They won the remote access and my date of birth and credit card information.  I answered security questions and my answers have been modified remotely to transfer Western Union funds immediately, I hung up the phone and shut down my computer. I wasn't able to get back on the computer because I've accessed remotely. I called the Bank and then Microsoft to report the scam. They helped me change my password. I then took my computer to Best Buy Geek Squad to see if something has been downloaded. Fortunately, it was OK.

    Hello

Good to hear that you did all of the right steps: call your bank, change passwords, have reported the scam. Play well!

  • Scam by phone?

Hi, I keep getting an increasing number of calls unidentified people claiming to be members of support technique microsoft. They inform me that I have to press the windows and r at the same time key to rid my computer of network problems. They also inform me that they have my computer id?

Is it a scam? It seems unlikely that microsoft would have bothered to call and a number unidentified too?

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

  • Scam phone Microsoft

A got a call yesterday from a man of Asian-sounding. He told me he was from 'Windows' and that he would fix my problem of spam (I had - 47 that day) he seemed to know what he was talking about so I went with him, pressing the various keys by following the instructions at one point, he was in control of my computer screen. He then told me I could have the problem fixed for $190. I then told her that I didn't it was authentic and hung up.

My computer is an old Dell doesn't work on Windows XP. I turned on later but could not access the main screen. Instead, I get a small pop-up window titled "Windows XP Startup Password", asks me to insert a password. I never had to use a password before, so might not be consistent. It seems that my computer has been corrupted, nothing that I delete this pop-up window, cannot use the computer. Anyone have any idea what I can do?

    Thanks in advance.

Cannot follow your advice. Do not have access to the desktop, just a blue screen with a small window asking for a boot password, which of course, I don't know.

    Thanks anyway

You are welcome, but you have misunderstood my advice, so let me clarify
    She:
What I recommended is to perform a clean reinstall of Windows.
To do this, you don't need access to the office. What you need to do
is to boot from the Windows installation CD and follow the prompts for a
    clean install.

Note that when you do this, you will lose all your data files and all the
you program facilities. To recover, you need to restore
your saved data and reinstall all of your programs from their
    original media.

If you do not have a backup, you can remove the drive from the computer
and install it as an external drive to a friends computer. Then, you
    can copy all data files.

In another message that you say "Unfortunately, I am an old man and not very.
clued up on computers. "First, I would like to say that I am an old man too (77).
Maybe older than you, and I know very well that computers. Even us old
    guys can learn computers.

But more importantly, what you're saying, what I recommend above is
likely to be above your skills. If you need to seek the help of a
a friend who has the more skills you have.

If you can't find a qualified friend, you will pay for
professional help.  Avoid the Geek Squad (and any big-box store) as
the plague. They are among the worst places to use for
    repair of computers or advice.

Instead, find your self a little local place that is recommended by
other members of your community (for example, if you have a group of PC users)
in town, they can probably give you a good recommendation).

One last point: If you do not have a backup, you've played with
the fire. Almost everyone should be back up regularly. It is always
possible a disk hard crash, error of the user, near the lightning,
virus attack, even stolen computer, may result in loss of
everything on your drive. As it has often been said, it is not a question of
If you have a problem, but when.

  • Is it possible to use records Microsoft product key to activate my program of portable computers lojack stolen?

my computer girls laptop was stolen and I know I've seen a lojack on her program, but documents CIHI received, the product key codes are somewhere in a storage unit 10 x 20. My question is when she recorded installed microsoft programs is not possible to use registration to acctivate the lojack program information?

    original title: laptop computer theft

The application of lo-jack, if it existed, should have been configured by you / your daughter to work * before * there was a problem.  It's probably something provided by the OEM (Dell, HP, Gateway, Lenovo) who sold the laptop - not a Microsoft application.

  • Problems with FixCleaner, possible scam

    Original title: Fixcleaner
My system is slow these days, so I'm looking for how to speed up my slow pc in bing search engine and there is an ad that said I can have a faster pc in 3 simple steps, and I open it and I download it.
on this site they say that the program is completely free, so I think it's better for me, an old man.
so I want to scan my pc and I know that my pc has so many errors, and I think that I should clean up. so I click on repair this button. and then he says I need to register, so I click on it and it asks me to pay to fix the mistakes then I paid and received a key. I use the key to register the software and remove the errors found, and he asks me to restart my system, I did, after I have can not get into my system, I wanted to say to the system restarts itself all the time, and then I contacted my younger brother, is a computer technician, and he told me that fixcleaner is a malware and he also told me how to restore my system I tried what he told me, nothing works. I have to pay $150 to send my computer in a repair shop for a restoration of the system pc. This time, I can get into the system, but all my photos and my videos have been removed.
so I contacted fixcleaner for a refund of $150 and $34.95 and $1,000 for my pictures and my videos online and it seems that it is an engine of the auto-robot, so I have to use email to contact 5 days ago on their site that it calls for 2 days, but I have no answer, it seems that they refuse to reimburse my loss.

Everything here could tell me how to recover my money? Thank you.

    Hello

Seems that this is one of the fake scams where they take your money and if something
    your system is damaged.

In the United States, you can contact the FBI, Attorney general, the police authorities and consumer
Watch groups. Arm yourself with knowledge.

    ==========================================================

You "might" be able to backup your data, but it could have been removed.

You can save the data and reinstall Windows 7. The hard drive can be put in another computer
as 2nd car (best) or in an external case USB port. Either allows you to copy the data to removable
readers of media such as CD, DVD or another USB. There are also professional recovery however companies
    they are expensive.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.

Use Ubuntu Live CD to backup files from your Windows computer dead
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windows-computer

    I hope this helps.
