Postmaster of delivery default Outlook Express electronic containing EXCEL because Microsoft Mime OLE V6.0 2900 5579.  Computer Siezes causing frequent manual restart.  What is happening and how to fix it?

You must specify the user name and password of the account and the correct POP3 and SMTP servers and their ports.  Only your email account provider can give you this information if you need to contact them to find out the values and settings are correct.  Who is not involved in what e-mail program, you use, you must always provide this information.

After setting the network card to make IE work, then check OE.  If the OE still has problems, check under Tools | Options | Connections and tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Connection to be sure, the settings are correct.  You may also need to remove your e-mail account, close OE and then add it back again.

If Bruce's response does not help, then move all the dbx files in the message a directory of storage for OE will create a new message store.  Then see if that solves the problem.  If this is the case you can use the file | Import | Messages to get from the directory to which you move them.

Also check interference antivirus.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

  • my outlook Express freezes on opening because the albums email won't let me delete it

How do I get in outlook express if the email at the top of the page hangs and will not respond?

In fact, I have one than another thought. You never answered whether or not it was always the same message.

If you go to the OE message store and delete the file Inbox.dbx with OE closed, when you open OE you will have a new but empty Inbox. No message, no corruption.

Of course, which will delete all of your messages. You couls rename the Inbox.dbx to Inboxold.dbx and then try in retrieving your messages with this tool, but it is not free.

You may need to run in the extract from disk Mode if its normal recovery mode fails to find lost messages.

Also, check the Windows Recycle Bin and the OE message store and see if you have an Inbox.bak file. If you do, note the date of creation. There is a way to restore your messages until the free creation date.

And another thing. Let me know the Inbox.dbx file size as it is right now.

  • Outlook express cannot receive emails because "your spam or junk file box is too full.

Original title: where & how do I find the 'spam' or 'junk' mail folder for outlook express?
I'm having a problem with Outlook Express I can send emails but cannot receive emails.  He said it might be because "your spam or junk file box is too full" but there is no 'spam' visible or "junk mail" box in Outlook express.  Where and how can I find?

According to Bruce, OE has no spam or junk folder, so this file is likely on the server.  Sign in to your e-mail via webmail account and then look for a folder spam or junk e-mail on the server and you can delete the Junk there.

  • Restore an Outlook Express account

Recently, my mother accidentally deleted by Windows XP and had to recreate. Subsequently, she opens Outlook Express to see that it is unable to locate his e-mails. I've never used Outlook Express, ever, so I'm completely lost in the way of trying to have Outlook Express 'find' his 'old' emails. Any help would be appreciated.

This is for Windows XP, we didn't have any sort of anti-virus installed at the moment, nor do we have any sort of third party running software.

A process in several steps. The first step is to enable hidden files.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

Then do a search for *.dbx if all goes well, you will find two named Outlook Express folders containing the dbx files. One for the account you just set up, and other of the old account.

The path to the message will be very similar to this:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

Determine which folder has 'lost' messages and then import them.

Open OE and: file | Import | Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and import to and from OE store directory and point to the folder with the old messages.

  • outgoing mail sending is not in outlook express

Get help outbook in outlook express 6 on windows XP

I have windows xp on my computer and outlook express 6 as my mail server. All incoming messages are coming in but all outgoing messages keep stuck in my Outbox. I have to delete them manually.  I already did a search in my hard drive and delete the outbox.dbx files and outlook express will not always send my messages? What else can I do to fix this? Help!

OE closed when you removed the dbx file? It will not work if the OE was open. Move all your messages sent to another folder items and remove Sent Items.dbx as well.

If this is not it, try it in a new identity.

File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

    And backup often.

"Outlook Express could not be started.  Cannot open the application.  Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full.  Contact Microsoft support for further assistance 0x800703E6, 998 "

    Folders.dbx is probably damaged.

C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

With OE closed, find the Folders.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

    Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. However, understand that you will lose the mail directory structure and message rules will probably have to be edited.
  • Outlook express photo attachments to mail out

I have problems with the creation of outgoing emails in outlook express that contain photo attachments. I type them in as attachments only when creating the email, but as soon as I hit SEND it adds to the body of the email and ends up holding still to send and receive the other end.

I tried to attach firmly the 'Insert' and 'fix' of options with no chance to fix it.

I also tried aby clicking on "send pictures with message" format, also without success.  In fact it continues to change that option to a selected option.

    Help!  What Miss me?

If you attach a picture, then OE poster at the end of the message.  Its not put the image in the message twice.  Chances are the image is very large and you need to reduce its size.  You can do with programs like irfanview (www.irfanview.com).  Also use a jpg and bmp image as a bmp is 100 X greater in terms of file size.

  • My Outlook Express emails now save to the format of Live Mail.

Since the duty change to a computer refurbished my emails save in format of LIve mail I find it difficult to use. Can I change this please? I like Outlook Express, but do not know which version I have.

The computer was probably Windows Live Mail installed with it.  You can go to control panel | Internet Options | Programs and set Outlook Express as the default e-mail program here.   See also point 2 (ignore the parties on Outlook) under point 13 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13 who should be giving back OE again.  To retrieve messages from WLM in OE, you can just drag the eml files by on a file OE and drop them and they get incorporated into the OE folder.   See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background.

  • Vs Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express

Using a copy of office outlook unoffical. I would like to reinstall outlook express. How can I do this?

Outlook Express is part of your operating system and is located on your computer.

Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Add/Remove Windows components. Make sure OE is checked.

Lack of OE shortcut icon? Copy this:

    c:\Program files\outlook express\msimn.exe

Start | Run and paste it in. Ok.

Now go to control panel | Set access to programs and settings by default and OE set as default and then you should have the shortcut.

  • Control Panel not present contact sending photo by Outlook Express

Even if it worked before, it has stopped working.

When you send a picture of my images from Windows Explorer, email is generated in Outlook Express, but doesn't have any shown in the Contacts To: Panel.

If I manually insert an email address, the email is sent but can't and does not appear in the sent items folder.

Check in files | Identities | Manage identities. Is an old ID in the list that you do not use? Make sure that the ID that you are using is set as default and that OE is defined as your e-mail client by default as well.

Control Panel | Add/Remove programs. Set Program Access and Defaults. Custom + down arrow | Select the option for Outlook Express.

If still no joy, see if the problem persists in a new identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.
