Power edge R310 PERC S300 firmware update

Hello world.

I have 3 PowerEdge R310 operating with 3 HARD drive / RAID5 on PERC S300.
If I try the PERC firmware update (SAS - RAID_Firmware_RPCKX_WN32_2.0.0 - 016600193000_A06), while the server is offline, the RAID and SO restarted intact?

I apreciate your responses.

Thank you.

Hello

TavoGA
If I try the PERC firmware update (SAS - RAID_Firmware_RPCKX_WN32_2.0.0 - 016600193000_A06), while the server is offline, the RAID and SO restarted intact?

Yes, your RAID and BONES must be intact after the upgrade. The firmware update will not take effect until after you restart the system. The system must be restarted after you apply the update. It is advisable to always have a valid backup tested before making any hardware/software changes on a production system.

Thank you

  • PowerEdge R310 Perc S300 Raid 10

    I'm trying to set up a PowerEdge R310 with a Perc S300 and 4 x 2 TB drives and raid 10 server r2 2012.

I set up the raid 10 by pressing the R command during startup.  It implements the fine.  I then put in my dvd openmanage systems management and run the installer.  This is where the problem begins.  with all the 4 - 2 TB drives and raid 10, I should have 4 TB of hard drive space, and it is only showing 2 TB.

I canceled the installation, rebooted and changed the UEFI BIOS.  the problem here is with the UEFI boot, server does not start on a dvd, instead, it starts directly to flash disk (this is where the BONE is).  It works fine too, but at the beginning of the installation, he said: "we have found all the readers" and it wants me to install the drivers.  I sail to openmanage dvd and can not find the drivers.

once more I cancel the installation.  I switch back to normal UEFI bios, openmanage dvd start and try and reconfigure raid of openmanage.  everything sets up very well, but in the end of the process when it prepares the files, it gives me an error saying ' deployment failed due to: Boot controller culd details can not be retrieved ", and my only option is to restart.

I reboot and start all over again.

My only option so far is to install NO UEFI and don't have 2 TB of hard drive space, but I really want to use all 4 to.

    Help, please!

The OpenManage DVD has no drivers in the format you need for use during a manual of OS installation - you need to get them from the support.dell.com site (or ftp.dell.com - you need the hard / ZPE file version).

Have you checked the UEFI boot options? You should be able to boot from a DVD using the UEFI. And what do you mean that you can start only "directly to the flash drive? If you can start on a flashdrive in UEFI mode, then why not install Windows from a flash drive? And what do you mean "this is where the BONE is?

  • PERC 5 firmware will NOT update on a 2950

There's a thread about it here, support-forums/servers/f/906/t/19469416, but the response contains incorrect information and no way to add to this thread.

The display flash that firmware is to support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/product/poweredge-2950? driverId = 2RPK0 & osCode = WS8R2 & 2974571956 = starts, but this is incorrect.

The page is there, but the firmware link is facing a 500 error page.

The firmware on this page is different from what is listed on downloads.dell.com/published/pages/poweredge-2950.html#Drivers

The problem I have is that after updating the bios, etc. of ger/bmc, I try to run the firmware update, it makes the inspection and reports an old version and asks me if I want to upgrade to 5.2.2.0072

I comply, and then a split second later he says:'s done it and does not require a reboot, (that I know, it should be) Eeven after reboot it is still on the old 5.0.2 - 0003 version

The OS is a new installation of 200 R2 X 64 with all updates.

Exe that I use is the page I mentioned to the support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails? productCode = poweredge 2950 & driverId = WJG5R

    SAS - RAID_Firmware_WJG5R_WN32_5.2.2 - 0072_A08.exe

I have updated the PERC firmware for many years and have never seen this behavior so it has me a little confused.

I rebooted and tried it several times and it's always the same result.

I him I had finally worked. I had to run an older version of the same file [deleted profanity].

The version of the 09/05/12 marked (A08) doesn't seem to work on a completely updated 2008R2 updated x 64 or completely updated 2003 ENT x 86.

BUT the dated version Date 07/10/08 marked (A09) worked.

TWO of those exe is marked 5.0.0 - 0072 and the only difference I see is that the exe file is named differently with different release dates.

Imagine me being so stupid to think that the most recent version of the exe would be the only one using.

I missed the difference before and the question why the "most recent" has an A08 tag and the 'old' has a tag A9.

I don't know if engineers could never recreate what I've lived, but maybe my situation will help others in the future since my guess is in the next few months, many will migrate their systems to move the remaining systems from 2003 to 2008 and 2012.

  • R720 Power Supply firmware update

    Hello

Have problems updating firmware for the block of power SUPPLY (AC) for the R720, tried to get him out of the lifecycle controller and by downloading and running the windows of Win2008 R2 package.

After the installation in both cases, the server off, but does not wake up as advertisied (I waited all night). Without other options, I pressed the power button and the firmware has no upgrade.

I also tried to plug in only 1 power supply with the same result

Any help is appreciated, thanks for reading

    Details on my config:

Older version of the firmware of the power supply: 07.25.7D

    Target firmware viersion: 07.25.7E

Web site to download the Windows version of the firmware update:

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/HK/en/hkdhs1/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=4K1PT

    Double power supply

The sticker from dell in the lower right corner:

    Hi thanks for the messages

The problem has disappered by itself, as I have tested earlier firmware has updated successfully (using the windows version)

In the past, it stops after the #7 step. The lifecycle controller showed that it was upgrading firmware, like this:

Subsequently, he stops and never woken up by itself. But this time he's awake to the top and be upgraded successfully

I try to remember what I made after the last time, there is not, in the hope that someone will find it useful:

1 making / removing network trunk (aggregation)

    2. change workgroup name, join a domain

    3. When you run the update, I used the administrator account of the domain instead of the local administrator account

    4 installed Kaspersky KSC

All 4 is apparently not related to the update of the firmware, I also installed & removed openmanage essentials, but do not remember if it is before or after the failure of the last

but since it is updated now, I'm happy

    Thanks for the help

  • H710 PERC (PowerEdge R820) firmware update

    Hello world

    I have a new server PowerEdge R820 and I'm not able to update the firmware of PERC H710 (21.1.0 - 0007, A03) to the latest version 21.2.0 - 0007, A04.

I tried with a key USB bootable with the files BACK to the inside, but just update software says no: "no controller detected."

The server is online since 2 weeks now, so there is no current RAID rebuild and I tried also with PERC H810 firmware, no luck.

    Any advice? Thank you

    Daniele

If the system has access to the internet, reboot the system, press F10 when you are prompted to enter in the life cycle of the controller, then once its there, select Firmware update, exit FTP selected server and proceed from there, its quite intuitive. One of the choices will be updated the H710 controller.

  • The pitfalls of migration from Server 2003 to 2012 R2 on Power Edge 2900

    I have a Power Edge 2900 2003 Server to Server R2 2012.

The known pitfalls?  Going, I have a problem with the SAS6/iR Raid Controller?

I made a few new installations on other machines with Server 2012 R2, bur never upgrade. Just a little nervous, I have the weekend to work on it.

    Thank you

I don't think that you can pass directly from 2003 to 2012 R2, but R2 2012 is fully supported on the 2900, so there should be no problem running it on there. I strongly suggest you update the system firmware (BIOS, GER/BMC, PERC (first pilot)) before moving on to 2012 R2.

  • Question of firmware update hard drives/RAID

We have a Server Power Edge R210II with OS MS Server 2008R2 and a Controller PERC H200 RAID (two disc HARD 1 TB Seagate SATA in RAID1).
Recently, there is a new firmware for Seagate drives on a dell (Package update for MS Windows) support site.
I really don't want to lose the server :) and never update firmware on the disks on the server with RAID (I've updated the players only on PC).
Can someone tell me a procedure to update the firmware on my drives? Problems with the upgrade, best practices etc?
    Thanks for any help,
    Marius

    Best practices:

    • First have a backup. Should data not destructive, but everything can happen.
    • Use SUU or Repository Manager to update ALL of your system - iDRAC/BIOS firmware, PERC and other firmware must be updated before the firmware of the HARD drive.

Most HARD drive firmware updates are bootable, so you just get the utility boot and update.

You cannot update firmware of the drive not Dell with Dell firmware (i.e. If you bought the retail/generic readers).

Why do the update of the firmware?
You should do this only if the Vodafone SIM card does not work properly!

I found this info that pop ups before performing a firmware update!

    + Atten-tion of the FW update: +.

+ Please do not forget to read carefully before place the FW. +

+ 1. FW update is not necessary when the Vodafone SIM card works fine in the customer environment s. run the FW update only when the Vodafone SIM card is not detected. Please note that the FW is more reversible to the previous state once updated. +

+ 2. This upgrade tool will apply to the following models with built-in 3G module: +.

    + Portege R400 +.
    + Portege R500 +.
    + Tecra M9 +.

+ 3. Please leave 3G communication and close the connection utility before running the FW update. +

+ 4. Close all applications before you run the FW update. Please DO NOT launch any application during the upgrade process. +

+ 5. Please ensure that you use an AC adapter to power the computer during the process of FW update. Power failure during the upgrade process can lead to failures of 3 G modem. +

+ 6. Please DO NOT sleep/standby extended/Shut Down the computer during the process of FW update. This can lead in mode 3G +.

So please first these points before you is trying to update the firmware!

  • 277dw Lasetjet MFP: Firmware Update for my Laserjet MFP 277dw

This morning my printer has informed me of an update of the firmware, which naturally installed. The printer print is no longer because I have 3 party laser cartridges.  I had heard of tactics HP injet printers, but never thought that they would stoop so low just to force me to buy their cartridges, which for color laserjet, is very expensive.

I currently have the following HP hardware:

    1. High-end ENVY Phoenix 850-065se Desktop (i7-5960 x)
    2. New portable high-end OMEN
    3. 277dw LaseJet MFP
    4. Chromebook 11

I am also a partner HP started.

How much chance do you think it is I will NEVER buy HP hardware again?

If you use laser 3 rd-party cartridges, do NOT have the HP firmware updates.

Find another thread to the M277 that seems to relate to yours:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/LaserJet-printing/M277DW-supply-memory-error-all-cartridges/m-p/5766705/highlight/true#M294371

The solution by the user in this one suggests a bad patch as opposed to a deliberate attempt by HP, third block laser cartridges.  It is more credible to me than what HP did with the OfficeJets.  He fixed in downgrading the firmware that atleast confirms that the problem is associated with firmware.

I commented on another M252 thread on a similar power error message:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/LaserJet-printing/how-to-revert-fix-recent-firmware-update-for-HP-colour/m-p/5809720#M297289

I think its time to crush us this one and get a comment from HP support directly.  If you would be so kind as to contact HP directly through Chat or by phone, we can get an official and timely response.  Then share what you said with the rest of us.  The community can get the word out from there.

I also found another thread dig deeper and providing a link to an old version of firmware, if you want to try it yourself:

Component Firmware Intel management engine (ME) (American International)

    11.0.0.1194 Rev.A
    December 1, 2015

We bought 5 of these laptops for our Engineering Department and I was against a tight schedule to get them deployed (the next day). I started working on obtaining a set of installation with the necessary software and then I just want to clone one for the other 5.

I did a clean install of Windows 10 and installed all the drivers from the HP site. Then I ran Windows updates until everything is up-to-date. I disabled Windows Defender. Now all that remained was update the firmware BIOS, Intel ME and Thunderbolt using the downloaded utilities since the page drivers. The BIOS installed fine, but it's a really weird update process. Due to the beeps and lights blink during his work. There is no progress bar to let you know if she is doing anything. At some point, as the beeping stop but it's still really work. Then he starts and updates another part of the system and so on. Anyway, that everything worked fine. No problem with the update and Windows 10.

So I ran the update of the Firmware of Thunderbolt and open up a command window saying that it couldn't find the controller. It looks like not there nothing after that point and just closed.

Finally, I ran the Intel Management Engine firmware update utility. He opens a command window and says that it is loading the file and check and so on. Then he wrote the Flash file and takes a minute or two, doing so. Once it's done, the firm order window and back to business as usual... until you restart. Once you do this, the system is toast. It does not start. Black screen, fans run at high speed and the CapsLock and NumLock bulbs only 5 slow flashes indicating that there is something wrong with the motherboard. I'm starting a supported by HP chat session.

I am told to disconnect the battery. To access the battery, you need a bit T - 8 Torx and you unscrew 11 screws to remove the grill cover and low fan (pedestal). I did that and disconnected from the battery. Reconnect after a few minutes and tried to start. Nothing, same thing. The support agent told me that a technician on site should be sent to replace the motherboard.

While the lower lid has been opened, I noticed that there are two small LED lights near the SSD. There are supposed to be the diagnostic lights and I found an article in the service manual indicates if one of the LEDs is lit, the motherboard should be replaced. This lights a few seconds after the connection of the power supply for the laptop or by pressing the power button.

I asked the support agent if they knew why it happened, but they did not know.

So, I got 4 portable more to work with. I took off the dead laptop SSD and put a charge in a brand new out of the box. Started by and on the desktop Windows 10. This laptop had BIOS v1.03 on this subject so I ran the BIOS updated and rebooted. All right. At this stage I myself asked to perform other upgrades of the firmware or not. I thought that I had a 50/50 chance and I'm the kind of person that simply be whether it was a fluke or if there really was something seriously wrong with the update of the Intel ME firmware. He ran while first instead of love at first sight to date. Update Intel did ME the same thing before, opened a window to order, checked and then flashed... and after a reboot I got another laptop dead.

At this point, I shook my head and frowned, looking at the HP logo.

I tried calling support, but their laptop zbook/computer service has been closed from 10 is no support by phone or chat support. I have to wait until the morning to make a call in warranty for this second laptop dead.

The Intel ME firmware update released on download of HP ZBook Studio G3 section was not compatible with these laptops and caused the laptop no longer starts. Only an exchange of motherboard could solve the problem. HP since then changed the link to the Intel ME firmware update for the appropriate softpaq.

Those who had run the update of the bad firmware and their laptop brick had to call the HP technical support to schedule a replacement motherboard on the spot.

  • FS728TP attention firmware update!

Too bad, you can ruin a good switch poe by a stupid firmware update. Tried to update my FS728TPv1 to the latest 5.0.0.8 3.0.0.22. Downloaded the zip file, you start the procedure to update with discovery of the smart wizard, message received "updated successfully"... but after reboot the switch is bricked. Did some reading, found I'm not the first guy with this case, should be updated first, startup code from 1.0.0.2 to 1.0.0.5. But it was not a code starting update file in the zip! I found somewhere on the netgear firmware french site the oldest 5.0.0.6, which contains ng_fs728tp - V5006.ros and ng_fs728tp_boot - 1005.rfb. I feel so stupid, I'm?... to open the switch box, found 88E6218-LG01 Marvel, used on some routers 10 years ago chip. anyone find a procedure to revive the switch, a tftp, a series or something connection session. I know netgear offer guaranteed for life and replace the switch, but not my case... just feel sorry a switch of the brick work

There is a solution, in case you brick the switch to update the firmware, do not update the boot code appropriate. The boot code is some program low level similar to the bios on the card. Did some deep research on Marvel 88E6218-LG01 Chipset, I found somehow that pin 52 and 53 are Rx and Tx respectively to integrated serial UART. The two signals are 12 (Rx) and IC U27 PIN 11 (Tx). The IC and passive components around him are not soldered because the switch is not a serial console. Near U27 is the serial J8, not used. The U27 is a similar to max232 chip. The idea is to make a connection with the switch using p52 series = Rx, p53 = Tx and, of course, GND, I soldered the wires to p11 and 12 of the U27. Then do a session in Hyperterminal using baudrate = 38400, data bits = 8, parity = none, stop bits = 1, flow control = none. Power on the switch, you will see power on self-tests, boot network device based on 88E6218 software version with ARM946E-S then: autoboot in 2 seconds, press return or ESC to interrupt and enter the dance. In those 2 seconds interval if you press the INPUT switch goes to the start with 6 options menu: 1 = software download 2 = flash file Erase 3 = 4 = diagnostic mode password recovery procedure entry 5 = Set baudrate terminal 6 = back. Choose option 1) then the switch is waiting for the firmware file "code using XMODEM download, $$$ writing and waiting...". Now go to hyperterminal transfer, send file > Browse for firmware 3.0.0.22 .ros (before update wrong firmware), choose the XMODEM Protocol, and then click Send. File transfer begins, will take about 25 minutes. After that the switch restarts correctly, and discovery of the smart wizard he found. Update the firmware on 5.0.0.6 family must 1.0.0.5 to update the BOOT CODE. The boot - 1005.rfb can be found on this website: http://www.netgear-forum.com/forum/index.php?s=7d23113dd1660e3c9d613aa739513390&showforum=704 , in 5.0.0.6 zip of the firmware. Have fun...
