power icon

The power icon is missing from the notification area in my installation of windows 8.   I tried to customize the notification area. The window for the filming of the icons or disable shows power as off.  But it is grayed out and I can't do altered to on.

What can I do?

Is there another way to change the power settings?

You can get power and open power options. You do not change anything in the icon window customize.

  • Re: A500 power icon shows only % left and duration (estimated) no real

Hi I bought an A500 last week. Very happy with its features etc., however, I have a question where the power icon shows only % left.
For some reason, it does not display the weather remains as it is supposed to. I took it back as long as you 'Out of Box', but the problem persists.

I rang tech support who told me to take it to the nearest centre of Toshiba. Sms technology had me the next day to say that the task is complete. When I arrived at the shop and asked what was wrong, he said that nothing was wrong. "This model displays only the % and no time. I asked him where he has got that info from, it was Toshiba. He said that he checked the A500 on display for sale in store and that too showed the %. Then I jumped on the view model and verified by myself and here he showed the hours and the minutes remaining. He then said he would have another look.

He even rang Toshiba who said that he could not be a hardware problem. So basically he and the person he spoke did not have a clue. Portable old man of the week, and I refuse to accept a machine that does not react as it is supposed to. Even the manual user talk taking system a few seconds after the power is cut to calculate the remaining time.

During this time is there anyone out there who has experienced this or know what the problem is?

    See you soon.

My a500 also shows % left and no actual (estimated) time :) To be honest, I don't think it's so important to worry.

    > I took it back as long as you 'Out of Box', but the problem persists.

This means that this feature is not available.

Try these steps and check if that helps:

** Turn it back on. Sometimes a reboot will solve this problem.* *.

    1. close all programs and stop the laptop.

    2. remove all power supplies (battery and power cord)

    3. empty the remaining power by pressing the power on button for 30 seconds (even if you have no power).

    4. put the battery back and start the computer

    5. once fully loaded, right-click on the system tray and select Properties.

    6. This will bring to the top of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. The "Notification area" tab.

    7. at the bottom of the tab, is the area 'icons systems. " There is a checkbox for "Power". "check" the box and click on apply or OK.

Also update your graphics card drivers.

It works! Tanks a lot Johnny D.81!

And you have used ALL of these methods? I've never seen fail if possible.

You might want to check with the manufacturer of your system's support, their documentation online

  • I suddenly lost my taskbar battery/power icon

    Original title: the battery icon

I lost suddenly from my bar battery/power icon tasks and cannot change the setting in "Turn system icons on or off.

    Any ideas?

You can display the icons of the power-battery permanently in Customizing the taskbar [right click on the Windows icon, select Properties, select taskbar, select the Notification area customize].  Alternatively, you can decide to show only the icon notifications, so that the icon appears only when the battery level drops below what you have set in the power management.
