  You can virtually none of the PENRYN 45nm lithography processors put in it, the optimal processor, you can upgrade is the Intel core 2 duo t9500. I have the same laptop and I have the next step down from what is the Intel core 2 duo processor t9300. There is no complete list of the processors that it will support the lists that you will find are incomplete at best even Intel does not update their information. Go to intel.com and search PENRYN in a search more people you can use, you need to compare to ensure that.

  No RAM, but you would like to install a better processor, too. Look at the manual for CPU options. They will be pretty inexpensive at this stage. You should also another radiator/heater unit to work with the different video chip. But it adapts to your chassis. The only way to look at this case if you do your own work.   I finally found where the CMOS battery on my laptop Presario 2701.  I tired going road to tech support but I was told that my laptop was out of warranty so that they could not help.  Then I noticed that you can send the President of HP if you have a problem, so I did it, said my question and the next day I received a call for technical support and I was told the battery was under the rear cover of the laptop.  So after unscrewing which seemed to be a dozen screws on the bottom of the laptop I tried to remove the cover, but there do not seem to come off.  I then handed the laptop and pried off the keyboard, carefully removed the keyboard Ribbon that has two small tabs on each side that you just have to push back on.  Then you will see a square on the left side cover, remove the four screws, remove the cover and there is your CMOS battery in the upper right corner.  It is a flat regular silver oxide, number 2032 battery.  Replace the battery and put that together and it started right.  Changed the date and time and the computer is running back to normal.
