power problems envy touchsmart 20 d-113w

My dog chewed the cord between the ac converter and the computer. A guy at radio shack said it could set. He did (I think). I plugged it in and the Green led on the converter is on and the light by the power plugin is on and white but it still won't start. No noises or anything like that. Is there a reset button on these?

I think that OK tour. The green light on the converter box is not real bright. I think that its got enough power to turn it on. Thank you for your time.

    Hello

I need to make this folder somewhere - thing

My HP Envy TouchSmart E3S19UAR 15 had a problem of ghost-click with the touch screen from the first day. I did all this as recommended on these forums (and), including all updates, reinstall crushed, blah blah blah. Even sure my screen is clean and all other physical possibilities are excluded.

The problem, like many others on these forums, comes after Windows puts the system to sleep. This happened under Windows 8.0 and continues under Windows 8.1. It goes right now.

For some time, I thought the problem was solved - but then this weekend, my battery died suddenly. You see, in order to solve the problem, I had changed my setting of the system of 'Always On' power and changed other settings that Windows has gone to sleep. To realize that, I changed power settings back to "sleep mode"... and of course, in the awakening of his first sleep in a few months, ghost-clicks of the system started up again.

This is why I write - I am a few hours away from my expiring warranty (it is daylight saving time of 22:00, 20:00 for the time zone apparently used here). People of guaranteed phone HP just me transferred to the support paid and was told that the warranty service would not help. The website of HP warranty, confirms nevertheless that I am still under warranty. (Yes, I have screenshots and documents printed with the stamps).

So I intend to continue tonight if I can and certainly tomorrow (Monday) when there is hope that American support. Since I don't know how else to do this thing on the record, I post here.

Please help, someone from hp. I'll call.

    Thank you.

  • Upgrade of an ENVY TouchSmart 17-j005ea

I plan to replace my Dell with what would be my first HP laptop (a 17-j005ea ENVY TouchSmart), but I'm not sure if I would be able to upgrade.

I'd be looking to replace one of the hard drives with a SDD and replace the DVD drive with Blu - ray burner, but I heard that the upgrade can be a problem with some HP laptops.

These upgrades would be not possible for a person with basic experience of the PC?  (I create my own desktops and have upgraded discs and memory on Dell laptops without difficulty.)

Depends on how you define the problem. Here's an announced a swap and go for replacement:

  • Windows 8 or 8.1 update? HP ENVY TouchSmart all-in - One desktop PC 23-d260qd

I just bought the HP ENVY TouchSmart all-in-One desktop PC 23-d260qd and it happens today. I wonder if it is better to upgrade to Windows 8.1 instead of windows 8. It seems that several people had problems with the upgrade. I just got my computer today and have yet to open the box, but I wanted to know what OS is better and how I would go about updating Windows 8.1 must be optimal. My computer specs are below:

    • 64-bit Windows 8
    • • 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7 - 3770S processor [3.1 GHz, 8 MB of shared cache]
    • • 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT610M [DX 11, 3. 0a MXM]
    • • 12GB DDR3 1600 MHz SODIMM [DIMM 2]
    • • 2 TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    • • Microsoft Office Trial

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help!

Create a recovery disk set before even considering the upgrade.

If you are not yet accustomed to Windows 8, then give yourself a little time to get familiar with before committing to an upgrade to Windows 8.1.

I prefer the upgrade of Windows 8.1, in particular the return of the Start button, it is not the same as the Start button was before Windows 8.

Important factors for Windows 8.1 are available on the web support download portal for your PC.

  • HP Envy TouchSmart, m7 j-000dx: adding a second drive

I want to add a second drive of my laptop HP Envy TouchSmart (17.3 ") since I was a lot of data on my current SSD.

My question is that the computer will support the SSD and SSHD readers?

Are there restrictions on the size of the disk (to 1, 2-4).

I had my HP Envy since 7/2013 and am currently using Windows 10 (64-bit).   I've updated RAM 16 MB (max for this phone).  The material is otherwise original.

It has been frustrating to look for information, if I can do it at all and, if so, what can I use for this second disc.  Thank you.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

The laptop is essentially identical to the series of 17 t-j000xx want so that they share a textbook. I used to own a model 17 t - j029nr that would be about the same as yours. The laptop has 2 size hard disk bays 2.5 inches and there is a slot on the motherboard for a reader to the WSSD mSATA.

This video shows how to add a second hard drive.

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=wx3dMGXrGCc

The company that made the video, www.newmodeus.com also sells hardware, you need to add a second drive.

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=542

I bought one of these and used to install a second hard drive in mine. It may be a mechanical drive an SSHD or a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. It can be of 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick and is limited in size only by what you can find on the market. I think that 2 TB is still the larger disk of 2.5 inch 9.5 mm there.

The only complication is going to be if you do not have an mSATA 32 gig drive in the computer as it should be removed if you are running an SSD. Looks like you don't have a disc mSATA. Post back with more questions about it he gets the kind of technique and not need to go if this is not a problem for you.

  • Help! Disable the touch screen on Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4

Hi, I have a problem, try to disable the touch screen of the Envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4 function in Windows 8... I was looking for an answer on how to do it, but I did not find anything. I tried the method of the control panel > hardware and sound > pen and touch and then disable the option "use your finger as input device", but this option is not there for me! If anyone knows how to do this, I would be very grateful.

    Hello

I have another type of TouchSmart, but this may work for you:

    1. Press Windows + X logo.
    2. Select Device Manager from the list.
    3. Click on the small arrow next to Interface devices to expand the list.
    4. Click the touchscreen driver (in my case, Voltron NextWindow touch screen).
    5. Right click and select disable from the list.
    6. Click Yes in the dialog box that asks you if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.

When you want your touchscreen to work again, follow the above procedure, EXCEPT when right-clicking on the touch screen driver, select enable.

  • Trying to find advanced settings of the BIOS on my envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4

I'm trying to locate my envy Touchsmart Ultrabook 4 power management settings.   I am running the Insyde BIOS verision F.23.  When I open the BIOS to F10 (I also tried F10 + A with no result) before starting the only options are to hand, security, System Config. in and out.  Is anyway to get the advanced settings in the BIOS?  Thank you.

    Woodyzen3000,

I understand that you are looking for the power management option in the bios.

After doing some checking this bios has no option for the management of food as some old versions of some time got back on our old systems. I was actually able to get their hands on a similar Ultrabook built with the same version of the bios and the options are no longer present.

It is possible that perhaps a next version will be the available option. In order to keep an eye on this link because the future updates to the bios would be here. You simply enter the product number, and then select your operating system.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.

    Thank you

  • Envy Touchsmart 15-j040us: trying to upgrade my Touchsmart 15 keyboard

I would put the keyboard on my laptop to a backlit keyboard. I have an envy Touchsmart 15-j040us; a HP technician told me that the motherboard is C8N73AV, based on the serial number of my laptop. I currently have keyboard 720242-001 (not backlit) and it seems that 720244-001 is the correct keyboard for the backlight.

My question is my motherboard has the correct port to connect the backlight ribbon cable or not. I want to assure you that my motherboard will support the upgrade before the tear in my laptop just to find that it will not support the upgrade...

    Thanks for any help!

Your laptop has the pointer stick keyboard? I searched the manual and there is no different motherboard only so that the keyboard model so, the assumption is that all motherboards have the plugin for the backlight cable. The problem is that the process to remove and fix the backlight cable is not documented in the manual. Removal and replacement of the keyboard also appears to require complete disassembly, including removal of the motherboard.

    Manual

See p. 95. Sorry I can't be more definitive but I would say as my best guess that all motherboards have the connection for the backlight cable.

  • HP Envy Touchsmart Sleekbook 4: HP Envy Touchsmart Sleekbook 4 memory update will see 16 GB of RAM

I purc hased and installed 16 GB of RAM in both slots of memory available. Only 8 GB is visible (updated 4 GB). The HP Envy Sleekbook Maintenance and Service Guide HP Envy TouchSmart c03599931.pdf says on page 2 that the system supports 16 GB of RAM. When I go into the BIOS Setup, I can not change the amount of memory, which only shows 8 GB. How can I see all the 16GB?
