PowerEdge 1850 - Win Server R2 installation Issues 2012

Try to install Win Server R2 2012 on my PowerEdge 1850 servers.  I have the installation on a USB bootable (created using Rufus).  The system starts and begins to load files in preparation for the installation of Windows and then I see the following:

I tried recreating the USB on different drives and you still receive this error message.  I also tried to turn the OS Install option in the BIOS on Off.  When I do this, it goes to the Windows Logo but immediately fails and restarts.  Any ideas?

8G servers are not compatible with the R2 in 2012... not all simply not supported - not compatible. You can run in 2012, but not R2. 2008 R2 is the ideal operating system for this generation of server.

  • PowerEdge 1850 - installation of Windows Server 2012

Hi guys, I have a Poweredge 1850 which I brought cheap on ebay, I use it as a NAS abit to free up space on my iMac and stream movies/music to my computer or via DLNA to my TV and PS3.  I am currently running Ubuntu that I kind of like/dislike, I also like to use my server as abit of a toy game project, and I like to try things, like using a webcam as a security camera which I can access when im etc.  I also use it to connect via ftp to and run Web etc pages.

Now you know how I like to play with my server please can you help me :(  I want to try a new OS, I don't fear wipeing and start again as I can save on an external HARD drive.  I have a copy of Windows Server 2012 with I think that 30 days free and if I like it will activate.  When I boot from the CD, I get to the bit where it asks an installation location, but I can not find disks for select, I know I probably install the drivers I've tried (whether they are good or not, I don't know) my problem is they are .exe I can't load it as im on my mac:(-je n'avais pas ce problème de localisation deles de lecteurs quand j'ai installé Ubuntu) who find them without problem.

Is it also possible to do this via VNC, I use remote on my server as I placed it in my garage.  Its abit of an effort to bring it inside more, she is rather noisy.

A quick, someone could go through how to configure my drives in the bios, because I don't want to use RAID, I rather just have them as two discs rather than with her backup to another.

Would be very grateful if you could help me with my "little" project (maybe we could both remote in and talk via Skype and do it together: D)

    Kind regards

    PriestyUK

Yes, 2012 needs pilots, and the only way to get out them of the EXE is to run the EXE to extract the content (or use another tool for extraction).

If you don't have a Windows machine (or you are not able to do it in a box of Linux/Mac), is not a virtual Windows machine that you can extract it, AND you have access to Server 2008 (not R2), then you can install it with this long enough to get the extracted driver, as pilots PERC 4 are from 2008 (but not later).

Because Dell can't 2012 on 8G servers, you will need to use the drivers for Server 2008 R2:
http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/product/Poweredge-1850?driverId=9K3D3&osCode=WS8R2&FILEID=2731109791 (you need the 'hard drive' version)

The RAID controller integrated to 1850 (PERC 4e/Si) does NOT support so no RAID, in order to use the disks individually, you must configure each disk in a single drive RAID 0.  An alternative would be to disable RAID entirely, that uses only the onboard SCSI controller.  The RAID cache will be more usable with RAID disabled well.

You configure RAID in the CTRL-M (during POST) utility.  You disable RAID in BIOS (F2), in respect of the integrated devices (CTRL-M will not be accessible when disabled - you use CTRL-A to display the disks).

  • MS win Server R2 2012 and Hyper-V issue licenses

My company has 60 employees (and 60 desktops / laptops) and currently have an old principle that server solution of Microsoft Basic with element a cloud as Office 365 for email only. We seek to reduce the estate of server to Server (2 CPU - Dell PowerEdge T610), it currently runs on two old but not sterilized systems running Windows Server 2003 R2 (Dell PowerEdge 2900) and Windows Server 2008 R2 (Dell PowerEdge T610).

In the short term, we want to create a brand new installation of MS Windows Server R2 Standard edition 2012 who will manage our advertising (and DC) and support businesses main accounting IRIS software that requires a MS SQL DB. This cloud all must be configured to allow integration with MS Azure Site recovery to allow us to turn up in the azure of the VM disaster. In my view, this means that the configuration of the OS as a Hyper-V virtual machine instance.

The new server Win 2012 R2 has not really be a VM as its only one instance that I need, but from what I can make out, I need to make a virtual of Hyper-V machine to join the recovery Site of France. I can't determine exactly what license I need to achieve however. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Installation of Win Server 2012 9 desktop problems

I have a 64 bit Windows 7 with 9 Workstation installed host computer.

I am trying to create a virtual machine for Win Server 2012, but I get a license error.  There are other posts on this topic, but it relates to the work station 8.  I tried the solutions in these messages, but I still have a problem.

I downloaded the ISO file using Internet Explorer twice.  Once I used the ISO to create the virtual machine and once I burned the ISO to a DVD and tried.  It always gives me this error when installing:

"Windows cannot find the Microsoft software license agreement.  Make sure that the installation sources are valid, and restart the installation. »

The problem is that I tried the installation of 5-6 times and I can't spend.

All the world did this with success?

    Thank you

    Stem

    Try this:
When you create a new virtual machine
-Choose the option: I'm going to install the operating system later. (The virtual machine will be created with a blank hard drive.)

Do not type the path to the ISO file

-After the creation of new virtual machine also set the path to the ISO file (VM / parameters / CD-DVD.../Use ISO image file)
-After the execution of the new VM to install automatically saved (if not run probably on purpose = error)

  • Program running as an administrator in Win Server 2012

    Hello

I installed Win Server 2012 on my hyper-v virtual machine. I installed the trial version of Statistica software there. When you run the trial version, should be the admin right otherwise, he asks for the license. When I run the program in Win 7 or 8 win as an administrator, there is no problem and I can use it. But when I tried in 2012 WS, it didn't work. I don't even have dialogue if I want to allow the program to use the admin right. So, my thought is that, even if I run as administrator, it does not run as administrator. No doubt some WS 2012 policy. Does anyone have an idea what to change here so I can run as an admin, as in Win 7 or 8 Win?

    Thank you.

  • Dell Poweredge 1850 network drivers

    Hello

I have a Poweredge 1850 server, and I have installed Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (32 bit) on this subject.  I'm having a hard time getting the network drivers to work.  I tried all the installs on the Dell site, but I am still unable to get any access to the network.  Anyone know the name of the exact driver should I use?  And what should I do to install it properly?  This has been driving me crazy for weeks.

    Thank you!

It is the driver, you need to use:
    http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/product/Poweredge-1850?driverId=G7JC2&osCode=WNET&FILEID=2731107841&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=NI

First try the Package update for Microsoft Windows, then the disk version hard if it does not work.

If they don't work, explain what is happening - errors, messages, etc.

  • How to install Ubuntu for PowerEdge 1850 - updated: installed, but does not start?

I recently got a used PowerEdge 1850 (BIOS A04 version) without OS, with plans to install Ubuntu Server. I read that you can boot from a flash drive USB for it, so I used a tool to make a 8 GB USB 2.0 flash drive bootable for installing the operating system. I put USB drive on auto emulation and the USB controller on with BIOS support. In the order of start, emulated floppy USB drive has been updated with the top priority. The flash player has been connected to the USB port right front, with a keyboard at the front left, if it matters.

When I turn it on with this set all when it reaches the last line ("press CTRL-E to enter the BMC configuration within 5 seconds," without any player flash it just says only: "boot device available" at this stage "), it does nothing. Just on a blank line, no error or anything. I know that it did not freeze because underscore flashing. By pressing a button any will result in a single beep, same F2 to enter the BIOS setup.

There are 73 GB HARD drive at location 0 (left), nothing in the Slot 1 (right) and 4 GB of RAM. No material inside has changed.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? If I just have something wrong set, can you give me instructions step by step from scratch (that is, a blank flash drive/CD and ISO downloaded), or at least point me in the right direction to correctly set up the flash player if it is the problem?

EDIT: All right. Ignore my next post in the thread. I'll post if no new complication.

    Roadsguy
It still hangs on the last line in the commissioning after the line 'Press CTRL-E to installation of BMC', with the blinking underscore, so I know that it is not frozen.

It is bootable media and try to boot from it. It seems that the bootstrapper does not initialize correctly. I would suggest reformatting and reinstallation of the operating system again. The question is not hardware related. You can try another version of Ubuntu.

    Thank you

  • PowerEdge 1850: Need to add storage: ISCSI or SATA controller or? : Host does not support configuring passthrough

I have a (non - VT capable) PowerEdge 1850 which took an ESXi 4.0 U1 (Dell Version) installation like a champ.  I know that I probably won't be able to have 64-bit clients.

In this box of ESXi (laboratory

    Server) I have:

    • 2 x 73 GB SCSI U320 drives in RAID 0 array.

    • 6 GB OF RAM ECC

    • 2 x 1 GB NIC

    • 2 x PCI - X slots (PCI - X slot 133 MHz and PCI - X connector 100 / 66 MHz)

I want to add more space "VM/Guest" and not spending too much money.

    What is my best solution?

    1. Find a compatible ESATA 3Gbps controller card (I have a nice 500 GB SATA Drive laying around)? ...

    2. Or should I get out an old box and throw a Gigabit NETWORK card and a SATA inside player and try my hand at Openfiler? I have yet to try it.

    3. ... Or... something else?

Could someone help me hand choose either a PCI controller card - X ESATA/SATA (is - it possible or am I limited by my attached picture?) or a NETWORK card for my spare box (if it is not an old)?  I understand "_ _passthrough configuration"allows my virtual machine to hardware on the host computer directly, but I'm not clear how this effects my plans you want.

    I read:

.. .but I am suspicious of money sinking into the material lest my PowerEdge does not support the Configuration PassThrough (does it matter?)  I still have to load a single guest.

Thanks a lot for your time in advance!

Get started with what you have. Do not pass anything. Set up the old PC you have as a NFS storage device. Use openfiler or? That will allow you to do some investigation/tests you want to do. Keep your eyes open for a local RAID controller or on an old server with lots of fast scsi storage you can add such as NFS or?

  • Satellite L650D - need drivers for Win server 2008

    Laptop model: Satellite L650D-PSK1SA-03E014

before that I installed win7 32 bit OS.

Now I want to change to 64-bit, but he says still no startup disk after the completion of copy and restart.
I use the recovery disk that I burned after that I bought and used the System Restore Wizard.

So I decide to install win Server 2008 r2 64-bit, installation is successful, but some hardware drivers can be find and install from the Web site.
(I use win7 64-bit drivers, I read online, a guy said that it works on his laptop, but do not know why it does not work for me.)

should I take the laptop to the support center and ask them to install the drivers for me?
I'm not sure that this service is covered by the warranty or not.

Or I can ask them to install win7 64 bit OS for me?

Does anyone have the link to the drivers for win Server 2008 r2 64-bit?
    Thank you very much!

As much as I know Win server 2008 is not supported by Toshiba, so you will not be able to find the drivers for it. Toshiba offers support for OS preinstalled only and possibly an upgrade if your laptop model is supported for the new OS.
Warranty has nothing to with Win server 2008 so I think that guys will not be helpful for you. What they can do is to check if the original recovery image can be installed or not. If this is not the case, there may be a hardware problem.
