POWEREDGE 2800 memory/battery problem

The server DELL POWEREDGE 2800 our company with windows sbs 2003 suddeenly server has restarted yesterday and stuck in the POST gives the error"

Memory/battery problems were detected.

The adapter has recovered, but cached data have been lost.

I have three times restarted the server by pressing a button to continue. All three time loading of bones preserved for a long time and restarted the same screen of the error.

ATLAST I turned off the server and checked for any loose contacts according to the suggestion of dell. I removed the disk 0, 2 HHD, HDD3 in channel one o and replugged in and started the server. Same system has occurred. 1 HARD disc is already failed in RAID 5 and the place so that the disc is empty, I suspected may be another disk HARD in the same row is a failure and so I removed HDD 0 and rebooted the server. the same symptom (2003 loaded and stuck). turned off the server ' reconnected HDD0 and removed HDD2 and restarted the server, but the same symptom.

Reconnected the HDD 2 and disconnected HDD3 after restarting the server, it gives error loading operating system.

There are disk HARD 4 and 5 two more hard drive HARD drive in another channel 1

How to recover from this problem and our secure server data?

Please help me with this because I'm helpless and the server must be brought im production tomorrow

If your LCD is blue and you get the error of memory/battery on each startup, then you need to replace memory RAID (99% chance that it is rarely a defective battery or the riser).  The operating system will not usually start in this scenario.

If your LCD is amber and a message about the scrolling ROMB battery voltage, you should replace the RAID battery (sometimes it's because of riser).  The operating system will usually start and work very well in this scenario.

First of all, stop playing with readers and replace the memory RAID (and battery and lift to be 100% sure).  Once it is replaced, due to all mixture player you have done, you might have a few steps very careful to recover your data and make your table online.  When you're ready to do this (again, it is useless before repairing the message memory/battery), call Dell technical support - it's always free on servers, regardless of the status of the guarantee.

    I came here for help with connectivity to my server remotely. I bought Server poweredge 2800, I did all the necessary configurations including raid and system installation. After I try to open a remote web access to my server and I still can't get this to work. I went to my server configuration and static value ip, gateway, mask after that I tried to connect to it, via a browser, since different pc in my network for poweredge on standby. Unfortunetly, I can't get connection with it (I put https://ipAddress). I went again this configuration and also tried with the customer option dhcp or static including the configuration of my router for this ip address, but no one works for me. I don't have any idea what I'm doing wrong. Can you please help me please?

    Open a command prompt and type in the following:

    racadm racresetcfg (this will reset to the default values listed below DRAC) - reset may take up to 10 minutes to complete - there is no progress shown, so give it about 10 minutes before moving.

    IP address: 192.168.0.120
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
    Login: root
    Password: calvin

    If this information will not work for you, you can set the network information by the following from the command prompt:

    racadm setniccfg s ipAddress netmask entry gate

    Again, can take a few minutes before you can access it with the new settings.

    about a week ago, we tried to reformat poweredge 2800, I tried to find the Configuration utility instead we discovered was on iSCSi devices to RAID configuration change so we restarted, there is the Configuration utility on but I tried to enter the configuration utility and I wouldn't not start up on the configuration utility instead it repeats on you inviting them to press ctrl-m for utility configuration.

    what im asking is now how can I solve this problem? If someone has encountered this problem?

    It is not clear, according to your post is what is the problem, but if your problem is that you can simply enter the configuration RAID CTRL-M utility, try reinstalling the RAID key (near system memory) and riser.  You can also try to clear the NVRAM using the jumpers on the motherboard.

  • Degraded RAID 1 array: PowerEdge 2800

    Hello to everyone. I hope someone can shed some light on this unusual situation.

    I have a PowerEdge 2800, which must be replaced before May this year, this is a great server and done an excellent job over the past 7 years.

    OK for the problem; The server administrator has been a failure on 0:0

    In the server, we have:

    0: Maxtor 36 GB 15 k 0 0:1 Fujitsu 73 GB 15 k something 1:2... 1:3 something...

    So, I jumped 0:0 and the server worked great with a range of gradations, and 15 seconds I inserted back to the PE2800. After about 45 minutes the RAID 1 array has been rebuilt, but it still says expected failure. So I thought that better order some new readers - I received today; 2 x 146 GB 15 k Seagate Cheetah.

    OK, so I jumped 0:0 drive and inserted one of the 146 GB Cheetah and the server crashed - wouldn't boot at all and gave me an error stating that the logical drive failed.

    Thus, in the PERC4i BIOS, I forced drive 0:1 online and the server is now back operational but with a range of gradations.

    So that's where I am, what choice do I have?

    Insert the old disk with a predicted failure, leave it alone or try the 146 GB Cheetah. I don't really want to do an any of them, but I will order another 73 GB Fujitsu in the meantime.

    I want to know is why the server crash after having inserted the cheetah disc? I traded to many-a-time pluggable hard drives in the past in several dell breaks and never experienced anything like this.

    Degraded running, any response would be massively appreciated.

    Another thing that many people do not know is with a disk of pf, should it be forced offline before replacing, if not the FP flag can be assigned to the new drive (until a real "rescan" is performed) and can result in strange behavior (the controller is more sensitive to potential readers of pf failure).

    So I ordered a replacement from ebay (part 3rd battery) the battery is identical to the Toshiba battery in everyway of course the only difference is there was not an a toshiba.

    in any case, when the battery arrived I plugged it and the battery LED came on to show that he was charging, when I booted up my laptop (with vista) windows showed that there was no battery connected, I thought strange. But I did back and let it load, after an hour or two charging orange led started flashing which it never did.

    Still, I booted up vista and windows showed there is no battery connected. I have contcated the seller and assumes that the battery was faulty, as chance would have, he repaid the article and I went back to the normal toshiba battery.

    I had another battery, ordered through work and that is identical in every way, once again, except that it was another 3rd party battery and which does exactly the same thing.

    Usually if the battery would be affected so you should always be able to turn on the unit.

    It is very strange, I want to say if the contacts of the battery and the battery would be ok, this symptom shouldn't its sounds strange for me, so maybe that's the key why battery don't not lasts more than 30-40 min

    However, I think you should try a new battery before checking the motherboard.
