You can't update a PERC 6 / i with PERC H700 firmware. It is not an update of the firmware you need - you need a new/different controller card.

  • Raid PowerEdge r.620 with single hard drive controller

    Hi all

I have Dell PowerEdge r.620 with 1 * 1 TB hard drive, Raid Controller using mini H710... When I try to install Win Server 2008/R2 x 64 the HDD is not detecting, I've read in this forum of the disc cause hard does not detect is pilot raid is not installed, but I don't have that single hard drive is possible to set up raid with single hard drive or I don't have to use raid controller but I still don't understand how to set up the server with no raid...

    Thank you...

    Dimm21
Sorry for the late reply, do you mean raid controller in the server? If you want to say, I always do not install driver coz is new server than i've got...

I want to know, if posibble install raid on one hard drive and how to configure who... Server raid controller is mini H710

    Thanks for your response

Yes, the RAID controller.  One you have?  I'll assume a PERC H710 for now:

The H710 PERC is NOT compatible non-RAID (you cannot use a single disk without RAID)... in order to use a hard drive, you MUST configure a single drive RAID 0.  This must be done in the RAID controller BIOS utility, accessed by pressing CTRL-R during POST when prompted.

Once configured, you need TO load the driver for the operating system, see the drives connected to the controller.

If you have a H310, it SUPPORTS no RAID, so you do not have to configure anything in the RAID controller BIOS, HOWEVER, you MUST always load the RAID controller driver during installation.

  • HARD drive shows less space than it actually is.

So, we have an iMac 2010 and it's on Yosemite. We installed Windows 7 earlier on a bootcamp partition and it worked fine. Well, go ahead some time and I try to delete the BootCamp partition to save space as we never use it. Utility disk I would remove it, but it wouldn't let me not resize the OS X partition to recover the 300 GB used Bootcamp. So I did everything I could think of with disk utility and he ended up telling me that it cannot repair the disk and try the recovery disk. I did and he told me that he had to be reformatted as he could not do anything. I moved everything I wanted and it reformatted my El Capitan USB installation off the coast. I thought that this going to fix my problem, but not the whole HARD disk it's only 700 GB instead of 1 TB. It shows no way to resize or whatever it is. Something that I watch shows only 700 GB, but I know very well that it is a 1 TB drive. How can I get the HARD drive to its appropriate size?

Also, the command "diskutil list cs" shows exactly nothing when I try. He said only "No CoreStorage groups of logical volumes found."

    Please after the release of

    diskutil list

    sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

You will be asked your password, that are not displayed to you.

Utility disk and BC Assistant should not be interchanged to manipulate partitions.

  • upgrade hard drive shows old size

I have a HP Pavillion Elite four years old m9500z.  I had a hard drive failure, so I installed a new hard drive.  I did a system repair disc, and then made an image of an external hard drive system.  Everything went very well.  After completed I installed the repair disk, shut down the computer, removed and installed the new hard drive.  The old hard drive was 320 GB and the new drive is 2 TB.  Reinstall it also seemed to go well.  After the relocation was complete I started the computer and everything looked good and has a great.  I checked the 'computer' to see the new hard drive, but it showed the size of the old 320 GB drive.    This computer has Vista and I upgraded to 7, so I did that upgrade disc that is why I made the image of the system.  Any suggestions?

Thanks am... everything worked and all is great!

  • Hard drive shows only 32 GB

    Hello

I own as a HP Pavilion dv6830us laptop w / Windows Vista Home Premium bought a few years ago.  The original WD25 - BEVS hard drive has failed.  I bought a WD Scorpio Black 500 GB WD5000BPKT to replace.  Installed the two recovery discs purchased from HP.  Entering Windows after the restoration, a window popped up and said "unrecoverable error" and prompted me to turn off the laptop.  This would happen whenever I rebooted the computer.  Eventually I realized that this was the program file HP installer which has been the cause, so I managed to access msconfig before the message popped up and disable start-up.  Now I find myself with a Windows installation with absolutely no extra software on this subject.

That said, I was frustrated, but happy to simply reinstall everything.  Then I discovered that Windows displays the hard drive as 32 concerts, with less of a free concert.  I downloaded the update to the BIOS of HP.  Then I downloaded Western Digital Diagnostics software, and under the physical disk box, it recognizes the model and capacity (500 GB).  Under the logical drive box, it shows the file system NFTS, total space 34,37 GB and 1.05 GB of free space.

I would like to know how to solve this problem, as this whole process took more than 2 months and honestly, it's been a nightmare.  If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.

The following Microsoft link should help, please remember when to extend a partition, make sure that you have a backup of all your programs and data first.  There is always the risk that something might fail and with what it is your primary drive, you could lose it all.

This link is for Win7 but it is very similar to what you would do with Vista:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/how-do-i-extend-the-volume-of-my-c-drive-in/344b6a36-BCD1-4d7f-B638-3a4d048ecea0

The instructions below are in the provided link and the info of what you will need.

Windows 7 Partitions or Volumes extension

This section shows that you must extend a Windows volume. To do this, we must open the tool of disk management where we can resize our volumes. The following steps will guide you in this process.

    1. Click the button on the Start Menu in the bottom left of your desktop, and then click the Control Panel menu option.

  • 250GB external hard drive shows only 125 GB

    Hello

I just bought an external hard drive 250 GB, I plugged it opend my computer one selected the external hard drive on the side of the rite of the screen in the detail he gives me the total size of 125 GB it's just?

    Hello

I recommend you check the external HARD disk size in disk management.
Please enter this option right click 'My computer' icon and select 'manage '. Computer Management opens and there you can choose disk management.

The other possibility is that the drive was badly formatted. I also recommend formatting again. Check if it is possible to create a partition 2 with about 125 GB of space

  • Hard drive shows in the Bios and Device Manager but not in disk management.

I recently had a hard drive fail because of the excessive heat in the computer case (he also took a memory too). When I plug the drive as a secondary drive in any computer it will appear in the Bios and the Manager of devices, but not in disk management, nor can it be considered be as ZAR and Spinrite disk utility.

The disc spins up and down when turned on and seems to work. Just trying to recover data from the disk, so I can put it on a new drive.

    Any ideas?

If its not shown in disk management I would use this bootable HD to the utility check disk (probably all riders is set correctly?)

  • Hard drive shows up in Device Manager, but not in 'my computer '.

I have a Samsung HD103UI SATA hard drive in a dual docking station Thermaltake Black Widow hard drive. I connected it to my laptop via a USB port. It appears in Device Manager and says it's working properly. It however does not appear in my computer. I go to disk management and presents itself, he says "Dynamic Disk 1, invalid. If I right click on the drive, it asks if I want to convert it to base, but if I do that I will lose my data. I hooked this same configuration of my XP machine and it worked fine, no problem. How can I fix without basic conversion and how do I get it to appear in my computer?

End to this problem, that I had the hard drive on the xp machine unload everything out of it and reformat the hard drive on my Vista laptop. I did once it worked fine and I can move it back from my xp and vista machine. It's the only way I could get this drive to work.

  • my 1 TB hard drive shows only 500 GB size

I recently had to use this backup to another PC hard drive hard drive is only 500GB, so when the imaged system it I lost the other 500GB, I guess that. I have strength to know that he was going to take the space like that or I would not have done to this PC. When I reinstalled windows and reformat the disk, it recognizes that the 500. I even went in disk management and other programs to try to unlock the other and watch her do not back up.

Any thoughts on how to retrieve other that find a system of 1 to copy image and load on this pc?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that 500 GB of space on your disk to 1 TB is not present even after formatting. We will try the following methods and check.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Check if the problem occurs in safe mode:

Please refer to: , start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, then you can perform a clean boot and check.

How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8

Please note: After troubleshooting, be sure to start your computer in normal mode by following step 3.

Method 2: This issue could be due to malicious programs in the system, so you can run a Microsoft security scanner to make sure that the computer is free of infection by the virus:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning: If you run the antivirus program that is infected by the virus scan will get deleted. Therefore, reinstall the program. Also if the files and folders are affected by the virus, while they might even get deleted

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Hard drive shows almost full but cannot understand why

    Hello

My C drive shows me using 565 GB with a total area of 596 GB so I'm close to running out of space.

Strange thing is that I can't know which uses all the space!

I looked at the size of all files on the C drive, and what follows is the biggest:

    Program x 86: 32 GB

    Windows: 50GB

    Users: 271GB

Which makes a total of about 350 GB, this is far from the projection of 565 GB used when I look at the properties of the C drive.

    So, where's the rest?

I have the list hidden files and I looked at disk cleanup and defragmentation.  I also deleted the files in system restore, but it's all the little things.

The difference, I'm looking for is huge then where is he?

    Max

Control Panel / System / Protection system allows you to choose the amount of disk space to use for the Restore Points. I use 5 GB that gives me about 6 points of restoration.

  • All hard drives show $RECYCLE. BIN & System Volume Information, is this normal?

    Nice day

I would like to know if it is normal that all of my internal and external drives to have $RECYCLE. BIN and System Volume Information? I have them has not noticed it before, it became evident yesterday when I used my friends laptop drive. Now all internal and external hard drives connected to my PC suddenly have this $RECYCLE. BIN and System Volume Information.

Is this a virus? Cause every time I delete the $RECYCLE. BIN it always comes back and I can not delete System Volume Information. I tried to format my external hard drives, but it always comes back. Appreciate if you could help me to identify if there is a virus or not. Thank you very much.

    Hi reo99

It is normal that the files to be present on all fixed drives and partitions. You cannot permanently delete. This is normally hidden system files. It is possible that you make them visible somehow.

I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below and check.
    a. you can open anywhere on the disc and click organize.
    b. now, select folder and search options and click on the view tab in any drive
    c. now check the box against Hide protected operating system filesunder the subtitle of hidden files and folders. Click Ok

    I hope this helps.
