PPPoE on WRT54GS v.5

I have problems connecting to a bridged modem Motorola 2210-02 using PPPoE on my router to try to resolve the problem of NAT - 3 on my PS3. I am able to connect using PPPoE on my computer connected directly to the modem, but I can't do with my router. Any help possible?

(1) when you tried to connect using PPPoE on the router, you (1) left your computer plans to a PPPoE connection?  or (2) don't forget to reset your computer to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "obtain an address of DNS server automatically?

When the WRT54GS does the PPPoE connection, your computer must be set as (2).

(2) if the above isn't the problem, then carefully check again in the router and make sure that the spelling of the user name and password (key) properly.  Passwords are case-sensitive.

(3) If you still have problems, then perform the following test:

Put your entire network.  Using an ethernet cable, connect your modem directly to your computer.  (Do not use the WRT54GS for this test).  Turn on the modem and the computer.  Make sure you have an active Internet connection, then go ahead with what follows: (even if your Internet connection does not work, include this and move forward.)

Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig/all" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key.   Copy all results in your next post.  To make the copy, highlight the results, and then use the keys copy (Ctrl-c) and paste (Ctrl-v) keys.  If your "IP address" does not begin with 192.168, then for security reasons, delete the latter half of your IP address.

  • WRT54GS ROUTER PROBLEM

I HAVE A WRT54GS ROUTER. TRIED TO PUT IN PLACE. AFTER DOING SO, IT NOT CONNECTING A WIRELESS LESS I CONNECT TO A HIGH SPEED ON THE CONPUTER CONNECTION. SO, IN SUMMARY, FOR A WIRELESS CONNECTION, I MUST FIRST CONNECT TO A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION ON MY LAPTOP THEN CLICK ON CONNECTION WIRELESS AND PLUG THAT IN TOO. THEN EVERYTHING WORKS FINE. OR IS NOT CONNECTED WILL NOT LET THIS WORK. AND YES I'M NOT CONNECTED AT ALL TIMES.

    Thank you

I see. Do you remember your username and password?

You need the router to do the PPPoE authentication rather than on your computer. In this way, you don't have to click on the broadband.

Connect to the router configuration page and follow this procedure. Start with step 7.

  • Cannot complete the installation on WRT54GS and connect to internet

Hello everyone.  I recently was good to a WRT54GS v.2, which came from a member of the family which has improved their wireless router and therefore passed it along to me.  It worked perfectly for them, but not me.

I tried to use the installation CD and do a manual installation, but no internet connection is detected.  I have to admit being a total newbie router wireless, this is my first, so I am confused as what to do then.  I looked through the forum and the FAQ, but I don't know what could be applied to my situation and I am not very well versed in the terminology, I tend to get lost.

If someone could be kind enough to help me out or point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you!

OK, I have another update, lol.

I have just gone to the configuration page and decided that, what the devil, I would return the automatic DHCP settings instead of the PPPoE to see what is happening, and here I can now browse the internet!  Certainly, it's Wired installation and now I have to set up our second computer with the network adapter hope it will connect with the wireless router, which is the point of this whole exercise, but at least, I'm a lot closer.  No baby, lol.

Thank once again for all the kind help.

  • No internet when you use the Ethernet on WRT54G port

Router worked OK in hours, but in / op later that day. Ethernet light works when it is plugged in it, but not of the internet on the desktop computer. Get free WiFi on laptop. Unplugged Ethernet port to #2 and can get internet. The parameters seem to be the same, but I'm not an expert, so who knows what happened. Tried rebooting, turning all power off and went to brouser 192.168.1.1 page to see if something has changed. Also, the USB connected to my Tivo shows a signal but is more connected to the network. Any ideas? I have Windows XP. Also I have updated drivers WRT54G after that was the problem.

The computer has an active PPPoE connection. Connect directly to the internet without going through the WRT via ethernet or because connection that your modem has a USB port added through which your computer connects to the internet, effectively blocking any other connection.

You must cancel the PPPoE connection. Select "Internet Options" in the control panel. Tab connections make sure you select "do not establish connection" (below the list of configured connections). OK the change. Then, disconnect your connection PPPoE ("Centurynet") in the network connections Panel.

After you have disconnected the PPPoE connection, you should be able to connect again to http://192.168.1.1/. Your router must also be able to connect with PPPoE now. Check on the status page. If necessary, press Connect. It should if you have correctly configured your router to your PPPoE connection.

  • WRT54G w / Macs - access modem drops on sharing

I have a WRT54G (v8) connected to an Actiontec DSL modem. Connected to the router are a Macbook Pro and a Mac Pro, both wireless and a Wii via ethernet.

Everything works fine as long as I don't have access to other machines. For example, if I want to browse files on my Mac Pro (office) of my MBP, I can 'see' the office and connect. But as soon as I try to transfer files, I lose the connection with the Actiontec modem. The transfer is carried out correctly, and when I check the WRT54G, everything seems fine. But I have to manually restart the router to restore communication with the Actiontec modem.

For clarity, before I try to transfer, can I connect to the Actiontec. When the connection dies, I can always get to the Linksys router, but a restart of the screen of the admin does not work - I have to physically disconnect and then reconnect the power on the Linksys.

(PPPoE) modem has wireless disabled, and I use WEP. Once I reboot the router, everything works well again.

Any ideas on how to avoid this problem?

Smaller MTU on the WRT to 1350 and cycle power to the router. Now, check.

  • Problems with wireless on WRT54GS

After a power outage, I had to update the info on my WRT54GS router.  It works fine until I have try to configure the wireless part.  After I put a WEP key and save the settings, the "Manage settings" screen.  When I click on 'Continue', the router is basically dies.  The address bar has http://192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp.  At this point, the only option I have is to power and on the router that allows to restore access to internet on the wired devices, but no wireless internet access.  Is there a table is messed up?  How to get this resolved in addition to become another router?

Tried your suggestion, nothing is.  Finally, I changed my bridged AT & T of PPPoE to Ethernet router and set the router Linksys (Cisco) PPPoE with my AT & T username and the password.  It took care of the problem with the Wi - Fi.  I had questioned the AT & T Rep on PPPoE configuration and he assured me that AT & T has made this change and this also works with the router assign PPPoE.  Guess he was wrong.  But I am now happy.

  • WRT54GC failed to get a valid gateway entry when connecting through PPPoE

    Hi Experts,

I'm moving my WRT54G Router that uses more than 5 years for a WRT54GC I got from my friend. I have clone each entry of the WRT54G to the new MAC address of one, even. Here's what I captured of the old WRT54G Router when it connected via PPPoE

    Connection type: PPPoE
    Connection status: connected
    IP address: 114.91.200.128
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.255
    Default gateway: 124.74.12.242
    DNS 1: 180.168.255.118
    DNS 2: 116.228.111.18
    DNS 3:
    MTU: 1492

from the web administration interface, I can ping and traceroute yahoo.com, so can I browse any website from my PC.

and here is what I have captured new WRT54GC router when connected via PPPoE

    Connection type: PPPoE
    IP address: 180.158.83.182
    Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
    Default gateway:
    DNS1: 180.168.255.118
    DNS2: 116.228.111.18

the web administration interface, I can ping and traceroute yahoo.com, but I can not browse any website from my PC.

Could you get it someone please let me know if there is something I misconfigured?

    Thank you

Probably your ISP don't like it if you try to connect two times with the same account of different devices.

I suggest you press the disconnect on the WRT54G to close the PPPoE session before trying it on the new.

Or stopping for the night and try the new router first thing in the morning...

  • WRT54G ignorant transfer

I have disabled the Windows Firewall, I have no firewall protection or the third-party virus. I put my computer to DMZ... aaand I get ports 135, 139, and 445, and that's all!

I have even passed and unDMZed and transferred ontop of DMZ, nothing. Public static or unstatic.

My WRT54G is V8 performer 8.00.7 (Yes, I did the reset button 30 sec + 30 sec unplug)

The modem is a Westell with routing, but I disabled it the Routing and set it to bridged Ethernet. The PPPoE crosses the WRT54G.

MTU to auto, it sets to 1492.

If I run my PC with just the Westell I get timeouts on the port of controls, if I run it bridged and DMZ with the WRT54G I have CLOSED all ports except for 135, 139, and 445.

All computers on the network are automatic transfer fails.

1 DMZ transfers all ports that are not transferred in the opposite case. All ports configured on the port forwarding page are always transmitted a.100 and never a.104

    2 transfer. you the ports 27000-27215, 80, 110, 21, 139 a.100

However, there is nothing running on ports 27000-27215, 80, 21, 110. The only active port is TCP 139.

If you run the scan of port and you run any other firewall on the computer, you should see the transferred ports as closed. All ports can be closed or covered up (I think that your router does not respond that it is stealth).

So, if it seems to me as if what you see on the online port scanner is entirely correct: it shows the ports closed because these ports are closed on your computer, you don't have anything running on ports. Transfer do not "open" ports. It only passes the ports. The ports appear in the State, as they appear on the computer. If the port on the computer is closed transfer will not be 'open '.

  • Not to access Internet using WRT54G Router wireless

I'll try to provide as much information as possible. My mother-in-law gave me his wrt54g router so that we could get Netflix through our Wii. I have an old Compaq laptop for a year and am running Windows 7 with a wireless Internet connection through my service provider. I installed the router with no problems and was able to do online with the Wii. However, I am more able to get Internet access on my desk. It shows that my Internet is connected but it displays "no network access.  I had on fine at first, then I went on the 192.168.1.1 site to configure my data.  I changed my time zone and then to secure my connection.  I don't remember the exact option that I chose, but I think it was something like personal WAP2. As soon as I selected the screen has frozen and I can not access this site or access the Internet through the router. If I unplug my Ethernet cable from the router and plug it directly into the pc I get very well online. I know that this router works with a PPPoE connection, because it's what my mother-in-law a. tried to get support from my ISP, but they left open-mouthed via chat.  Can someone help me understand how to get this router to allow me access so I can use office and the Wii?  Thank you.

Fix it!  I called my local service provider and explains the problem. He had me go in the settings of the router and change the connection between "Connect on Demand ' and 'Keep Alive '.  Everything works fine now.  Thank you!

  • Connect the wrt54g with wrt160n v2 router

    Hi all

I have a PPPoE internet connection

    I have 2 routers first is wrt54g second wrt160n v2

I connect to the internet for the internet port of wrt54g

can I make network ssid (linksys1)

can I connect ethernet port wire to the first router wrt54g to the port at the second internet router wrt160n

I have disable fun DHCP. on the second router to do as only access points

then I put the network SSiD (linksys2) for the second router

    connections is Ok

the problem is that the internet is always what FastConnect throw the first SSID router (linksys1)

but when connect to second router ssid network (linksys2) its slow or limited (a few times)

    who is wrong?

Please follow the instructions in my previous post.  (Note: the solution posted by death is a 'unique network' - it does not create two separate networks, so it does not work for you.)

Since you want two separate networks, you must use two different SSIDS.  In addition, please choose a unique SSID.  Please do not use "linksys" or any variant of "linksys".  This will only cause you problems at some point in the future.  Use something unique, like "topgun" or "Lampshade."

  • Assistance using Windows using Linksys WRT54G wireless remote

Please someone help me. I have Qwest DSL service, ActionTec Gt701R and Linksys WRT54G - Version 6.

If I connect directly to the Modem, send a request for Assistance from a distance, the Expert can connect to me without any problems. Here is the IP ticket RA information-

    RCTICKET = "65538,1,71.215.174.28:38861;192.168.0.2:3389; trippc:3389, *.

When I'm connected wireless using the WRT54G, send a request for Assistance from a distance, the Expert cannot connect to me with an error that the DNS cannot resolve the host name. I assigned a static IP address to my laptop and the Port 3389 to sent to this IP address, according to the Linksys support. She is the information the RA ticket IP for failure.

    RCTICKET = "65538,1,192.168.0.4:1293;10.10.10.50:3389; trippc:3389, *.

The IP address in this post are internal addresses, the Expert cannot find them on the Internet.

Anyone have this working? If you have, please send the instructions step by step that followed you.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Problem solved on the Forum of Qwest. The modem must be changed to use "a transparent bridging. The the WRT54G must be changed from automatic DHCP to PPPoE.

Public static IP and Port Forwarding have nothing to do with this issue.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Wireless router to modem Homeportal 1800 HG 2wire Linksys WRT54G with questions

I have the Linksys WRT54G, and I'm trying to use it as the router to my modem 2wire Homeportal 1800 HG wireless.  The 2wire has four ethernet Sockets in the back marked from 1 to 4 and a telephone jack to connect to the wall for AT & T DSL service.

I have the phone jack connected, and:

    -an ethernet cable

-to one of the sockets at the back of the 2wire ethernet

-to the 'Internet' on the Linksys ethernet jack

    - and an ethernet cable

-to one of the ethernet (1-4) at the back of the linksys

-to the ethernet port on the computer

The Linksys is unable to connect via the modem and reports that it may not get an IP address from the PPPoE server.  (Directly connect to the 2wire works well though.)

    Who am I wrong configuration?

There is no side effect of bridge mode... It is one of the mode in which the modem function. When the modem is in bridge mode, you cannot go online with the computer connected directly to the modem... and you will get a 169.254.x.x ip address.

So after you convert the modem into bridge mode, you must do the PPPoE settings on the router to go online via router.

  • Strange problem with WRT54GS 7.2

    Hello

    I have a weird problem with my v 7.2 WRT54GS router.

I use a unique identifier SSID and everytime I try to connect to the wireless network, I am only able to connect locally - I can't access anything other than what is on my local network.

However, if I plug in a cable to the router and my PC, I am able to access the internet, but ONLY if I am also connected to wireless "local only".

Earlier, on another PC, I was able to connect to the wireless network (local only), then set up a connection high steady flow as you would with an ethernet cable and connect to the internet, even if a cable is plugged into my PC.

So, I confirmed that the router emits a signal that can be used to access the internet, but it must be done in a very complicated way.

Anyone know anything about this? Help is appreciated.  (I already tried upgrading to the latest firmware)

If your Modem is already configured in Bridge Mode... So you can do is: connect the Modem to the Internet Port Linksys router and then connect your computer to the router Linksys on the Port No. 1.

Connect to the Setup page of the router and below installation "Internet Connection Type" PPPoE and enter the username and password provided in your by your ISP and below check the box 'Keep Alive' and click on save settings...

Then click on the 'status' and check the IP address of the Internet... If you are able to see any IP address... Then check if you are online for your wired computer...

  • interesting installation problem... WRT54G

I'm trying to configure a custom installation instead to my home wireless network. I am running Windows Server 2008 with DHCP server on my PC that is connected to the router of office. Router is a WRT54G. I use a Motorola DSL modem provided by ATT. I had the DHCP configuration to be configured through my server because the WRT54G does not support, and I would have to activate the redirection port and remote access. My Setup was working perfectly yesterday. Today, I come home from work and find that the internet is out. I bypass the router and connect directly to the modem, and it works perfectly. I go to the router settings and try to reconnect (via PPPoE), but the modem comes back as not be able to receive an IP address. I tried to clone the MAC of the router, changed the router and my network for a 192.168.2.1 subnet, all to nothing does not. My server is running 2 connections to the router. port 1 is used to configure the DHCP server, port 2 is the network connection.

    Ideas, comments or advice appreciated.

figured it out. Connect the DSL modem to port 3 on the router instead of a WAN port, and 2 my office ethernet connections. Reset the default router, the value it's IP 192.168.1.3, because my DHCP server is 192.168.1.2, and I didn't want to duplicate the modem. Has worked very well, only had to redo the initial setup of my ISP. In addition, was able to leave router in the automatic configuration DHCP instead of PPPoE.

    Problem solved :-)

  • AT & T Incompatible with WRT54G v8.0.0.7?

I've recently updated my v8.0.0.2 to v8.0.0.7 WRT54G firmware so that I can use it with my PS3 at the school.

I am out of the House for the spring, and, of course, I brought with me, my router as my parents (a v8.0.0.2 WRT54G) router does not work with the PS3.

I plug, get bars full on my laptop and nothing. It does not work. PS3 is still in the box. I stopped, reset the router, blah blah blah, still nothing. Full bars, but pages don't is not loading.

Now, the v8.0.0.2 of here at home works well; as soon as I plug it in, I can immediately browse pages. But as soon as I plug my v8.0.0.7, it stops working. However, I use it at school all the time, for everything without any problems. It works as well my friend.

The only difference between the two is where we have the Charter School (and my friend's House) and AT & T home.

V.8.0.0.7 is incompatible with the AT & T DSL service for any reason any? I can't find any other explanation.

    DPEP.

Router of the Charter to the school only requires a router with DHCP auto configuration enabled to run.

AT & T uses PPPoE, so all I had to do was plug in my parents name and password, and it worked. As simple as that. I have overthought this maximum is Aussie an easy solution.
