Precision 5510

Hello

I just bought the 5510 precision and plugged an external monitor using hdmi

The screen is also Dell u2713hm. resolution 2560 * 1440

My problem is when I connect the external display, picture is ok on the external display, but you can not work on the local screen as flashes constantly. (the resolution is put to the local screen 2048 * 1152)

Any help?

Have you noticed the screen flicker at any other time other than to have the external monitor attached, have you noticed the problem with the only integrated LCD screen?

Does make a difference if you have the power adapter plugged into the laptop? Windows power plan put high-performance (key to victory and abouches x, power options, power, advanced and high performance management)?

If you have not already trying to update the video drivers and system BIOS.

Rev BIOS A06

Intel HD 530

NVIDIA GTX 960M

Please let me know if the problem persists.

    Hello

    I recently bought a Dell Precision 5510 and I now intend to install a 500 GB SSD (M2), or a Samsung 500 GB 850 EVO m2 and a critical CT500MX200SSD4.

Does anyone know if one of these two SSD is compatible or have any problems with this laptop?

    Thank you

Thanks for posting your request here.

These two device should work without any problems after the upgrade.

  • Precision 5510: Not compatible with software USB

I try to install (just downloaded) G4050 and he stops and tells me that my USB key is not compatible.  I can scan pictures without the software but I need to scan negatives. So I know the * bleep * thing works any suggestions?  Apart from a new scanner?

I tried to install it in Mode safe and that no longer works.  So I have this ends as a friend called and said he had the same problem with a new Scanjet 4050 and HP tried for several hours with negative results. They had itself back to the scanner and to order a new model later...  Thank you all for all you tips.

  • 5510 Precision add hard drive

I am trying to add a hard drive SSD SATA 2.5 "to my new laptop of precision 5510.

I need to order the inserter/adapter required hard drive and bumper rails to do this.

I did chat and phone calls to the Dell sales without success to get the correct part numbers.

In my opinion, that these photos represent the parts I need. They are drawn from this thread to another owner - 5510

    http://Forum.NotebookReview.com/threads/Dell-precision-5510-owners-review.784464/

First picture shows the bumper shock side to hold the reader safely in the hard drive bracket - I have the disc and Calliper - and the leap card/card.

Second picture is the leap card/card.

Can anyone provide me with the required for any of the two references. The adpeter is the most critical.

    Thank you

    @Community,

I can confirm that XDYGX is the cable for the disks of 2.5 inches for the XPS 9550 systems and precision 5510.

3XYT5 is the side rubber insulator (there are 2 of them):

3FDY3 is the HDD bracket (some units may already have this installed):

  • 5510 problems Windows 7

    Hello

I worked with a few images that I built. After some trial and error, I've built a few images stable and uncooperative. I went to apply precision 5510 and I can't seem to start.

Is there something unique with the 5510? I've always had problems with the lower end precision mobile, but I thought it would be different for a reason any. The new process was solid, even on difficult children in the past (versions xps13).

    Impatience,

Precision 5510 has a player of optional NVMe (express nonvolatile memory). Windows 7 does not support this default technology. When you capture your image, you must install a Microsoft hotfix (KB 2990941) which can be found here: http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941

You want to also make sure that your image of windows 7 is built using GPT and MBR not. This will activate UEFI BIOS for windows 7, but you will need to keep the Legacy option ROMS enabled. Secure boot and windows 7 do not mix!

If your image is already in the GPT format, you can use DISM to load the hotfix contained in without having to resume. If you don't know how to do a quick search on google for 'load updates to an offline image using dism', you should get what you need.

Note: If you are new to using UEFI, you want to create your image assist keys using UEFI as well. This means two things: 1) format them using FAT32 and 2) probably need to split your Wim files so that you can put them on your USB. My picture is a little less than 9 GB, and it's in 3 sections.

    I hope it's useful!

  • ISO for Ubuntu 14.04 (and 16.04) for Linux-based Dell laptops

    Hello

I just got my 5510 precision with pre-installed Ubuntu 14.04.

I noticed that the installed Ubuntu on the laptop is not a vanilla Ubuntu distro. For example, there are a few other DELL specific apt rest added to it. Or it has preinstalled recovery disk creator app, etc..

I created a USB recovery already, but what DELL hosts this OEM ISO slightly modified for the Ubuntu somewhere on their servers for download - in case someone loses the recovery media and requires the download somewhere?

I also noticed that DELL specific rest for 16.04 are already on the rest of Ubuntu (dell.archive.ubuntu.com/.../xenial). This means that 16.04 is good to go now for my laptop?

And if I want to clean install 16.04, DELL provides an ISO to measure with their rest file apt already pre-configured and extra apps pre-installed?

    Two other questions:

    • Additional measures that I have to do if I want to install Kubuntu 16.04 on my 5510 precision? (eg. What rest apt I might add?)

      • Better yet, DELL provides personalized Kubuntu ISO files?
    • How well do Fedora works on these machines?

    Thanks in advance.

I have this laptop (precision 5510, 32 GB of RAM, i7-6820HQ) for a week and everything I've done so far are optimizations (Windows/Ubuntu) and always the computer behaves so slow (compared to all laptop I had before). It gives me a bad feeling. For that price I expect that all work seamlessly.

The start-up time takes 8-10 seconds (and I'm not the only one with this problem. (Check here).
Until I have for Windows/Linux, I need to wait for another 20 seconds.
Each application starts with a slight delay (~ 1 second).
Resizing of an application is a slow process.

    My BIOS/drivers are up-to-date.
    In Ubuntu (16.04, 64-bit):
    -J' updated the kernel to 4.7.5 - 040705 (before that, I tried 4.5 and 4.6)
-the Nvidia driver is now on version 370.28 (before I tried also 361.45, 364.19 and 367.44 370.28)
In Windows (Pro 10, 64-bit), the same: the latest drivers are installed.

I thought that maybe there is a problem with the SSD, and you can read here my question. No response.

I really don't know what else to do.

  • Problems to breakers 5510 Precision

I had VERY bad luck with Dell laptops.  Last fall, I ordered the new Dell XPS 15 and he arrived with the bad motherboard and hard drive, which have been replaced and it still does not.  So we go back the order and instead purchased the 5510 precision newly released.  The problems are not immediately obvious, but it soon became obvious that the computer would crash five or six times during an 8-hour work day.  Accidents can be linked to Outlook or Explorer, but he would frequently crash when the computer is completely idle.  We didn't return the computer because we thought that the problem could be driver related, but after update all drivers, we moved on potential conflicts with other software and hardware.  We finally decided to have it replaced, but the replacement had EXACTLY the same problem.  This is a great computer and I have not been able to find all the reports of similar problems, but when we had the same problems with the same machine, I didn't know what to think.  I shall soon return this machine, but I wanted there to be an account of my problems where other people have similar problems.

    It's very interesting.

My accuracy provided 5510 with Ubuntu.  He has been suspended.  I would be hits a document in say, LibreOffice and the screen would go black suddenly, and that's all.

I installed Fedora Linux 23, and it seemed to do much better, but it turns out that the problem was still there.

I thought that the problem was specifically for Linux from Skylake support it is fairly new. I installed Windows 10 pro and all the various dell updated driver.  The machine has suspended several times in Windows yesterday.  At one point, he hung, I rebooted, open Firefox, returned to a web page, just change and he hooked again... but after stop and back again, it didn't hang again.  As my machine did not come with Windows 10, of course I can't support Dell for this... and I'm certainly not ready to return to the Ubuntu installed by Dell either.

The fact that the problem is Linux/Windows, it seems more related material, or BIOS or something like that... but who knows...  I'll continue to experiment a little more before you have the Dell out.   How long have you since you had your machine back that the problem will not occur again?

  • How to make bootable 5510/XPS13/XPS15 precision of the network?

    Hello.

I have several precision XPS15/5510/XPS13 laprops.

For now, when Re-imaging has them, I use a flashdrive USB Winpe that loads Acronis, which connects via USB Type C for the NIC on the storage server and load the image of the OS from there.

Other laptops (like the Dell Latitude or HP ProBook, which have built in Ethernet), don't boot from the PXE server directly, legacy and UEFI mode, so no problem there.

The problem is I want to make the Dell Ethernet without laptop computers to boot from the network via a USB port for dongle LAN. How can I do?

Is it possible to open the EFI shell, so I can access the network from there? Because I have not found the Ethernet card in startup options, and the 'activate' EFI network stack does nothing.

If it helps, I use STLab USB 3.0 - C to Gigabit Ethernet card.

Thank you much for the answer.

    Vadim.

You need to "Activate Thunderbolt supported start-up". You will find this setting under System Configuration > Configuration USB/Thunderbolt. If you want to perform a PXE UEFI boot, then you will also need to "activate UEFI stack of network". This setting is located under general > Advanced Startup Options (disable the "Enable Legacy Option ROM" while there, if you want native UEFI). After that, then you should see "USB NIC (IPV4)" and "USB NIC (IPV6)" UEFI boot when you press F12 and the Ethernet USB - C adapter is plugged in and connected to the network.

  • Precise control of mixer

    Hello

I wonder, is it possible to precisely drag/move/move and knobs in Logic Pro X mixer? I mean that normally if you click and hold the slider and make it slide simultaneously works normally. But as I remember in other DAWs method with using the key 'control', or 'command' or something like that and that didn't exist by dragging the sliders is very slow with accuracy.

But I can't find this option in Logic Pro. Could you help me? Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm sorry for the stupid question, I would never ask for such a thing in the forum, but I really just spend an hour to find the answer in google. Without doubt, I used the wrong keywords, but I tried a lot of things and found nothing that helps me. So maybe you could help me?

  • Site not showing with precision cursor

On my website bxcell.com cursor home page of the Web site visualizes with precision. It is supposed to be a slider full page. It works in all browsers except Mozilla. More recently, he appeared with the updated version to 42.00. I tried to disable all extensions/plugins, and of course to clear all cache. The error is still there.

Hmm, the style sheet http://bxcell. com/wp-content/themes/Divi/includes/builder/styles/frontend-builder-style.css?ver=2.5.3 contains this rule:

    .et_pb_slider { position: relative; overflow: hidden; }

If you disable the overflow: hidden on this div, the slider rule extends to the entire width. But... which shouldn't be necessary. I can't understand why this div does not extend to any of the default width. Perhaps a question to the author of the theme?

  • Why full screen become Office precision?

Well, as everyone probably - know everytime I go full screen its future's own space and ranked last in space than precision.

Both cases make it so boring, and after searching around the internet preference and manufacturing system it stops

I ask the guy if there is no solution to the problem? I want to stay in the same order as before the full screen fullscreen.

    Thank you

This is the default behavior according to the standard convention.

Mission control, you can drag any full screen in any order that you want to reorder.

You will have solutions that suit you better in  > Sys Pref > Mission Control
