    The USB port on the Xoom does not currently feature host for USB drives or other storage devices. It does not allow the Xoom to be a connected to a PC as a device (the PC's host) to allow file transfers. Once honeycomb is updated to allow external storage, you must always apply android on the USB device or locally to run a prepaid program. You can use free WiFi at many public hotspots, WiFi only that I saw that you were going to a specific location for the (less flexible for me) access would require.
