Presario 8000T with 2 SATA and Raid

I had a hard drive go bad today and I want to replace the 80 G SATA (computer bought in 2004).

I don't need really for the RAID feature and would like to just run 1 car (a new) and disconnect the 2nd.  I have an external hard drive that I use for backups.

Question: Is it making too easy that disconnecting SATA # 2 (not use) and install the new SATA drive and install Windows XP Pro top?  I'll be off and running at this time there, or are there unexpected conflicts, you know?

Question 2: If there are conflicts in the above statement I can just be best to install a new disk, use the original restore disks (XP Home) and keep the RAID?

Please notify.

Thank you

ERICO,

The system is P8656T #ABA.

Yesterday as a test, I disconnected the low-level SATA disk and did a full recovery of the use of disks in the system.  A few mistakes RAID as planned, but some of the same things 'strange' occurred as before:

(1) after connecting a drive hard external via USB in the front, the computer would recognize in my computer, then not, he would then not, as was the case a noise unique bell was noticeable again and again - very flakey.

(2) system has been very slow execution of orders, close open windows

(3) system would block

(4) system would take 3-4 partial boots that I order for a start to the top completely.

(5) computer at night: at initial start-up, she stopped and said a file was missing and hung, then Ihit and he continued the boot.

I am currently NOW only test each other hard drive only, full recovery successfully and currently testing operations:

(1) same problem with USB and external hard drive (ext drive works perfectly when connected to my laptop USB)

Continue...

It reminds you something in your experience? (ie. power supply possible problem maybe)

Check if you can unplug it RAID.

Thank you

I recently bought a Pavilion p6510y (4 months ago) that came with a 720 GB HD SATA configured in RAID. I added a WD SATA 80 GB (WD800AAJS) to be used as a backup. Worked fine for a few weeks then when I rebooted the screen came with BOOTMNGR not found is press CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart. Done several times with the same results. Technical support did not help too much. I started to disconnect the devices one at a time and he finally went down to the 2nd HD. Once disconnected all is well. Is it possible to add a 2nd HD without this never happen. Is this something to do with RAID - do not know too much with the RAID. Motherboard is an ALOE with 6 SATA and a CPU AMD x 4 connectors.

Hello deweymitch, can you unplug the cables of the 750 GB drive and plug them into the 80 GB drive and see if you can install no matter what operating system of the 80GB drive? If so, the installation of the OS would fix MBR errors on this drive. After that, you can reconnect the 750Go and the 80 GB drives and see if it will start Windows normally. You must ensure that the boot drive is connected to the sata port 0, since it is the port of the BIOS boot. Will not see a drive not partitioned and formatted by the operating system, until it was partitioned and formatted.  You have the disc from a manufacturer for the 80 GB drive hard drive. If you could so, insert it into the optical drive with the drive of 80 GB connected and disconnected to drive 750 GB and partition and format the drive of 80 GB. You can then reconnect the drives and see if you have resolved the problem. According to me, the question that must be in the MBR, who lives on the 750 GB drive.

  • PowerEdge 2900 (and 2950) with PERC 5i - extend Raid 5

    Hello

I have a Dell (PowerEdge 2900) server with a Raid PERC 5i (with BBWC) controller and 4 SATA drives installed (a virtual disk Raid 5, Windows 2008).

Now I have an extra drive (same capacity, same speed) and installed on the server.

I tried to expand the existing virtual disk (and the disk group) with the new physical disk drive in the BIOS of the controller and openmanage server administrator (managed node) running on windows.

But it is not possible to do with this Raid Cntrl?

Is there a way to do this without loss of data and maintenance of raid 5 redundancy?

The same procedure I need to do on a PE2950 (PERC5i)

    Thank you and best regards,

    loop11

What have you tried exactly, and what has happened or what have you seen?  You did not mention anything that leads me to believe that you tried this in the right place :)

The PERC 5 / I can do without a doubt:

With the disc, go to OMSA, PERC, case/bottom of basket, storage, physical disks and make sure your drive shows ready.

If ready, go to the OMSA, storage, PERC, virtual disks, select Reconfigure in the drop down menu to your RAID 5, follow the wizard to add the disk.

If the record shows the foreign, go to the OMSA, storage, PERC, Information/Configuration (link at the top of the page), click on foreign/clear in the dropdown menu, then follow the directions above.

  • Compaq presario C700 (C750EL): SSD info and motherboard

    I have a C750EL with T8100 processor and 3 GB of RAM, BIOS F.35

I would like to know if it is possible to install a SSD HDD into the WiFi slot (mini PCIe, right?)

my intention is to put a SSD quick 32-64 GB with operating system to boot from instead of internal WiFi and maintain my 250 GB SATA HD for data.

someone has the manual of the motherboard with features complete? (not the simple maintenance manual)

I can't find any doc on this mobo from 30 9 HP...

I would like to install also the internal camera... any info?

    Thanks to all you guys

The SSD into the slot wireless cannot be done. The slot is solely for a wireless card only. Even if an SSD in this location would be "mount" (it will not) it will not be bootable.

HP does not have a manual of the complete motherboard available. The best thing that it would be maintenance and Service of Guide.

Your only way to add an SSD is the 2.5 inch SATA variety, and you could put a second hard drive in an optical bay adapter. I think that your optical drive is mini-IDE but if it is not the fastest thing, probably ATA-33.

  • OptiPlex 7020 and RAID array

    Greetings.

I bought an Optiplex 7020 and controller card SATA referenced in this post after you speak with a representative and come far from believing the 7020 and the SATA controller card combination would allow me to set up a RAID 1 array. I bought both the 7020 and the controller Dell card.

However, after several conversations with the Dell and Technical Support Technical Support Startech, I'm still not able to get this working. I am able to enter in the configuration menu of controller card at startup in addition to being able to access the system BIOS. The BIOS shows 'Mass Storage' assigned to the PCI Express slot (as it should), but complains without hard drive being found when I try to start.

Just for clarity: I'm not trying to use a built-in RAID configuration and try instead to use a controller card to take care of the RAID array. So I am (perhaps erroneous) belief that the 'RAID ON' in the BIOS setting is unimportant because the controller card takes care of the RAID array. BTW: My BIOS is not a parameter "RAID ON". I say just that to prevent an answering machine to take me on the way to the RAID configuration integrated. The 7020 does not come with built-in RAID.

In fact, this Dell page said I need to "buy additional hardware", which is exactly what I did when I bought the controller card - or at least I thought.

So the questions are: what should I do to be able to get my Optiplex 7020 to mirror the first drive on a second so that the second is bootable immediately in case one breaks down?  Do I need a software solution instead? Do I need extra hardware yet?

    Thanks in advance!

If this card requires a driver, so it is probably not responsible until Windows loads BIOS will not be able to see the drives connected on this card to boot from one of them.

And according to the Manual, the startup options are:

To specify the order in which the computer attempts to find an operating system. The options are:

    1. Floppy drive
    2. WDC WD2500AAKX-75U6AA0
    3. USB storage device
    4. CD/DVD/CD-RW drive
    5. Integrated NETWORK interface

Therefore, there is no option to say BIOS to get a boot on PCI - e drive.

That said, it is made reference to the Intel RAID controller in the manual, which suggests it could work with this system.

Win 8/8.1 and win 10, there is a built-in utility called "storage space" to create a mirror. Two drives must be connected to the SATA ports on the motherboard and probably identical in size. So give that a try...

  • Question about Raid Autodetect ATA and Raid on

I have Dell Dimension E520 Core 2 duo initially provided with 250 GB and Vista. I bought Windows 7 a few years ago but delayed after installation of Windows 7 for one reason or another.

Last week my graphics card developed due to lack of memory, and for some reason Vista disk has become one start rained. I tried all sorts of things, but not luck. At one point, I changed Setup > DISKS > SATA Operation 'RAID ON' to ' RAID AUTODETECT ATA "and continued to install Windows 7 on another drive.

So, the current configuration is as follows:

Disk 0 is 1 TB (Western Digital and includes Windows 7
Disc 1 is the original 250 GB with Vista old (fortunately I still have my intact docs on this subject)
Setup > DISKS > SATA Operation is set to 'RAID AUTODETECT ATA. "

    My question is this:

If I change this setting in the "RAID on" the computer reports the readers and non-RAID and prevents from starting. I want to know what setting should I use for SATA operation. Dell say "RAID on" even if the system has a drive... they claim it gives better performance.

My BIOS is original (circa 2007)

    Thanks in advance

I run raid with an mSata SSD hard drive and a mechanical hard drive. The performance is amazing. I tried my pc without raid performance and you can clearly see a difference.

However, it makes no sense to run raid on a single hard drive. Just makes no sense.

I don't think that Raid will really help with the performance of the two mechanical drives. There might be an improvement, but really is not worth it.

  • Webcam is not detected on Presario CQ62 with Windows 7

Hi, I'm new to the Forum so apologies in advanced if I made this topic in the wrong place.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62-423NR laptop PC, and I can't detect the webcam. I looked everywhere on the web and from what I have gathered, some Presario CQ62 models have no webcams and some do. Now, I'm about to think that my model does not have a webcam, but it seems as if there is a webcam at the top of the laptop unless someone can confirm that this isn't a webcam?

in any case, I understood also that Windows 7 are compatible with the following programs for HP Laptops: YouCam and CV SmartMedia.
    Sources are here.
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01970581

Which leaves me with the options to install one of the programs above, that I did and the two programs do not detect my webcam despite this webcam has been registered there.

I tried to test on other programs of messaging like msn, Skype and so forth and the webcam is still not detected.

I also made sure the programs I have installed are compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.

I also trouble trying to find a driver for the webcam to this model as well, that makes me then back to the start, I have even a webcam? -___-

So anyone who would throw some lights as to whether or not I have a webcam for this particular model or there is something I am doing wrong?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Hello

Sorry, but your model have only the built-in microphone. There is no webcam.

  • Aspire BIOS and RAID m3970

    Hello

I noticed in the tab BIOS for an Acer Aspire M3970 and then advance under the integrated devices, there are options for the SATA mode on "Native IDE", "AHCI" and "RAID".

I would like to know what RAID modes are supported by the RAID option on this forum. I can't seem to find this information anywhere does support at least 1 RAID when you have two drives?

Any help would be great. Thank you.

This system supports Raid 0, Raid 1, Raid 5, and Raid 10 configurations.

I bought a Compaq Presario V3000 with Vista. I want to switch to XP. I want to know the next steps.

You need to find (good luck) a copy of Windows XP to purchase.

  • Installation of Windows XP on a second disk hard SATA and booting from it.

    History:
I have a two year old computer and it becomes slow to start.  Its a P4 dual core 2.8GHz with 3 GB of RAM and a hard drive SATA 320 G, that left only 60 GB.  I tried to uncheck all unnecessary items at startup using msconfig, but its still quite slow.

    Proposed solution:
I bought a new HDD SATA of 500G and I thought performing a new installation of Windows XP on the new drive and boot from that.  I want to leave the old disk, as is if I can still access the programs and files that I have on this subject. That said, I will migrate probably all programs and regularly used files on the old drive on a new and let all my media files on the former.  I don't want to copy all just above (picture disc) because it will bring all the junk with her.

I backed up my important data to an external drive.

    Issues related to the:
Is there a problem to have windows XP on both drives?  Will I need to do anything to access my old programs on the start menu in a "new window" - what do I have to reinstall or can I just copy them into folder "program files" the new windows?  What is a reasonable way to speed up my machine?

Thank you very much for your answers.

You want to move the old SATA disk to controller 1 (although leave of you for now disconnect) and put the new drive on controller 0 and then install XP. Then set the old drive to the secondary SATA controller. You will need to install programs on the new drive; You may not copy or use the old disk. To stay in compliance with the EULA and activate the new XP successfully, you need to remove the old XP and just use the old disk to store data. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

    Step 1:

You can check if all connections for the reader are clean.

    Step 2:

You can also check if the drive is visible in disk management. To open disk management followed the steps - below
    a. Click Start and in the search box, type Run.
    b. in the Run dialog box type diskmgmt.msc and press ENTER. This will open disk management.

    Hi, I have a Compaq Presario C700 p/n GR598EA #ABU I got to work about 3 years ago.

Recently, it does not load windows, even in safe mode and I can't get back either.

  • Problem with Vista, WMP and Creative SB Audigy software

I have an audio continuous problem that I can't find an answer. The computer is a Dell Inspiron E1505 w / Vista Ultimate Edition and a map of its SigmaTel. (computer detailed at the end of the post) I have Creative Sound Blaster Audigy software installed. I have in fact two problems, but I'll start with the first and main one.

The first problem seems to be quite common now and is listed in this link...

    http://support.Dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/DSN/en/document?c=us&CS=04&DL=false&l=en&s=BSD&docid=28DC8E40D7FC2B06E040A68F5B284B0F&doclang=en

Deactivation of improvements solves this problem, HOWEVER... The only problem with that is that I then cannot use my Creative SoundBlaster HD audio software and am limited to graphic equalizer in WMP. I would prefer not to have to do, the software allows a significant improvement in sound quality, and it was not free.  None of the other things to try to disable helped either.

Now my other problem, which is currently more emergency. This problem occurs when the Sound Blaster software is activated. Every so often in random conditions, I'll bring your computer and the sound quality is totally messed up. It's hard to describe, but fundamentally, it becomes really tinny and hollow survey, w / no bass... totally looks like crap to me. As I said, he would only do this every once in awhile and it occurred in general if say, I put the computer in standby mode, unplugged, then took... or a random combination of those involving removal electric a/c. It used to be I could just do a system restore to the last restore point and might solve the problem. But the last time this happenend has not all restore points, I've tried and now I'm stuck w / either its hail and shabby (active SB), or disable the improvements and just using the equalizer WMP!

I enjoy music and plays the music on my computer all the time. I want to at least be able to use my software again, but if anyone knows anything of these problems, I would be very happy to help. Thank you.
