Previously used signature keys in Webworks 2.3.1.5 SDK installation

I just got new key signature and registered using them with my WebWorks 10 1.0.2.9 SDK

I'm trying now to copy the sigtool.db and the sigtool.csk in my WebWorks 2.3.1.5 SDK

I tried several guides, but everytime I try to sign my app signer tool rises following and I get the following error for each .cod which must be signed.

Contact the signer and register with signing authority.
Path: C:\Users\**\AppData\Local\Temp\widgetGen.###.tmp\xxxBlackBerry.cod

Above, you are referring to the COD, for BlackBerry OS 7.x files and lower.  The .csk and sigtool.db files are only used to sign applications for this platform.

BlackBerry PlayBook and BlackBerry 10 uses a different type of key.  If you have not requested an installed them (they come in the form of files .csj instead of .csi) you will need to order a new series using the code signing key order form.

Well, what to say to my knowledge it of not possible to activate the other version of Vista with OEM from Toshiba key.
This key is assigned to this OEM version and it should not work with another Vista CD/DVD.

    However, I found this thread another in this forum about Vista installation and activation and the last user potatohead reported that he was able to activate the OEM of Vista version with the phone;

  • Signature keys 10 BB

    Team dear Blackberry,

I signed up for BlackBerry 10 signature key and generated the file bbtoken.csk but do not have the other files needed for the signature.

Its been more than 15 days and my development process has stopped because of signing keys. I contracted management of the seller, they redirected me to post querry on the support forum for the seller. When I posted my querry here, they took me here. Let me know how long is this redirect loop and when don't I have a solution to my querry.

I am struck at halfway of the development just because of signing keys. Please solve my querry before I realize, blackberry application development has been my biggest mistake.

Come back as soon as possible, what to do next.

    Best regards
    Azure team

If you are using the latest tools all you need is your BlackBerry ID chip (bbidtoken.csk).  Old method of signature used by our old tools made use of LSB files probably refer you.

If you are using older versions of the tools, you can request files SJC will be sent to you by choosing the second option on the order form ("apps for BlackBerry PlayBook, BlackBerry 10 apps development using a 10.1 or lower SDK or BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK under 2.0.").

If you do not use this method, be sure to link these keys to your account BlackBerry ID so that it is recoverable.  Details on that can be found here:

  • Development for BB OS 7 & previously using PhoneGap 2.9.0.

I use this guide https://github.com/ctetreault/incubator-cordova-docs/blob/master/docs/en/edge/guide/getting-started/... to understand that how can I compile my application to generation of alreay for BB OS.

Everything seems fine but when I go to STEP 2: you can access this page https://developer.blackberry.com/html5/download/#smartphones where I see things related to Blackberry 10.

    Have therefore some doubts:

Q1. I use the correct resources (2 links above) to get a glimpse of what wants to do?

Q2. Web BB 10 plant works sdk for BB O.S. because that's where the link 2 allows you to download the sdk of webworks BB10 sail?

Q3. What is diff b/w: using the approach that is mentioned in the first link and mine.

My approach: I installed the Blackberry web work sdk 2.3.1.5, used Aptana studio 3 to create my project in my project, I pasted manually 4 cordova project 1 files. LICENCES.txt 2. Cordova.js 3. Events.HTML 4. Template.html in my project with other files (html, css, js e,.t.c).

I was also successfully installed signature keys in my web Blackberry works 2.3.1.5\bin folder.

To pack and build I use RIPPLE Chrome Extemsion and command-line (command line for most) and sussfully able to sign my application with the signature tool.

Guys help me pls clear this confusion.

    1. I'm not sure the use of Apache ANT, but if it works very well without him, then you are good to go.

    2. No, it is not possible to compile for BB OS using the SDK BB10.

    3. on the output, it gives you two records with two different types of facilities. One is the 'OTA Over The Air ()' installation files, which you can install the application on the web. In itm, you will have the required .jad and .cod files.
Second is the folder 'Install Standard' that will have all your java code files with which app can be installed from the App World.

  • Signature keys and code updates - bugs fixed and improvements

Apologies if I put this thread in a wrong forum. Please feel free to move.

I have a few questions about code signing and approval of the request and I would be really grateful to anyone who could please help me with that.

    1. I bought a single set of keys to sign my .cod files to deploy the portable device of code signing. Should I get an authorization from RIM or BB to deploy my application on a device in the following cases - i) if I want to use BB App store, ii) if I don't want to use BB App store and load the application manually from a PC, iii) if I want to use another installation for deployment outside BB OTA.

    2. for updates in my current application for example bug corrections or improvements, I needed to buy a new set of keys for code signing or those I bought previously would do the job (assuming that I sign my files from the same workstation COD).

    3. If the old code signing keys would be sufficient for the same application, but with some bug fixes and improvements, what all would I need to update either in my camera (if the application is deployed on the device) or on the BB App store.

    4. what happens to jar files? I also need to load jar files in my handheld device to run the application? If so, then I need to update the jar files in the event of bug fixes?

Please help me on the above questions because my project is in a very critical stage now. I will be really grateful.

    Thanks in advance a ton.

Your set of keys (files *.csi and sigtool.*) can be used for unlimited applications and for unlimited signatures.

There is no limitation for you.

Just make a backup of your key (*.csi and sigtool.* files) and restore JDE/bin folder when necessary.

This means that all the files of new/updated cod to date could be signed with the same key set?

You can use the keys that you have already bought for new and updated and you want cod files.

There is no need to buy these keys again.

  • . CSK recovered, .p12 and .db signature keys but will not restore. (error:-56)

I could get my signature keys deleted from the hard drive, but when I select to restore, or place them in the research in motion folder I get the error "error loading certificate: toDerInputStream rejects the tag type - 56.

Where can I find the code for this?

If the BlackBerry ID token is here (bbidtoken.csk) then the signing tools will use.  If it is not related to your signing keys earlier, it will cause the BlackBerry World error you mention.

The developer certificate (author.p12) can be replaced without affecting the "scale" of your application.

The main files, you must restore are barsigner.csk and barsigner.db.  The .db file is text, so you can open it with a text editor and search for corruption.  So here's what I recommend (keep a backup copy of any file modified below).

    1. Create a new developer (author.p12) certificate in Momentics by going into the Preferences, BlackBerry, signature window, create a certificate.
    2. Remove your BlackBerry ID token (bbidtoken.csk)
    3. Check the barsigner.db for corruption.
    4. Try to connect.

If the signature is successful replace the token BlackBerry ID and link your old keys to your BlackBerry ID account

  • Cannot sign application-unable to find signature keys

Hi, I received a file .csj of the RIM, but I can't use it because the signing tool requires the .csi file.

  • Cannot connect widget - unable to find signature keys

About 1 year ago, I installed Eclipse and plugin BB to develop java applications of BB. I had bought and installed signature keys and was able to sign the apps very well at the time.

Then, I want to write a 'widget' using the new (for me) web plugin for eclipse. The only way I could get that work was by installing the all-in-one "BlackBerry Web plug-in in Eclipse" (the package that has the correct version of eclipse plugin extension). The only problem is that I can't sign widgets.

So, in summary, I have two versions of Eclipse on my computer:

    1. a version with the blackberry java plug-in for making java applications (that I could sign)

    2. the version with the blackberry widget plugin to make apps widget (I can not sign)

The error I get from the BlackBerry Web/Widget to eclipse version when I try to sign my widget is:

Cannot connect widget - unable to find signature keys

Do I need to import the key somehow (wherever they are) of the old version of Eclipse for the 'new' or perhaps reinstall?

    Or even buy them?

Note: I still have the original files of .csi 3 If this is useful

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

Thank you for your response. I had sent dev support and received the following response (which is essentially the same thing you said):

Please contact BlackBerry Application Development Support.

When you install your signing keys, first they are only registered with a JDE 1. Specifically, most recently installed JDE on your machine. Following these steps, you should be able to activate the privileges of your signature for all d located on your computer:

    (1) locate your signing keys by searching your computer for sigtool.db. You can find several files of sigtool.db, but you are looking for the sigtool.db that, if opened with a text editor, you see references to all three signatories (RBB, RRT and CPR) as follows:

#The file of database containing information to request signatures.
    #[DATE]
    RBB = [CLIENT_ID] http\: / /www.rim.net/Websigner/servlet/BBApps
    RRT = [CLIENT_ID] http\: / /www.rim.net/Websigner/servlet/Runtime
    CPR = [CLIENT_ID] http\: / /www.rim.net/Websigner/servlet/CryptoRIM

You can find this file, go to the next step if we can deliver a set of replacement of signature keys, free of charge.

    (2) COPY the 4 following four files in the same folder as you find the sigtool.db file in:
    -sigtool.db
-sigtool.set (if this file does not exist, it is good to ignore it).
    -sigtool.csk
    -SignatureTool.jar

    (3) If you are using Eclipse 3.5.1 or more, there is a shared folder where you can PASTE your signature files, by default:
    C:\Program Files\Eclipse\plugins\net.rim.ejde\vmTools

If the vmTools folder does not exist, you will need to PASTE the 4 four files for each component pack individually, by default:
C:\Program Files\Eclipse\plugins\net.rim.ejde.componentpackx.x.x_x.x.x.x\components\bin (where x.x.x_x.x.x.x is the version of the component Pack.)

If you use BlackBerry JDE, please note that there is no shared folder. You will need to associate each individual JDE with the privileges of your signature and PASTE the files in each associated BIN folder:
C:\Program Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE x.x.x\bin (being the JDE version x.x.x.)

Finally, if you are using BlackBerry Widgets, you can PASTE the files in the next BIN folder, by default:
    C:\Program search in Motion\BlackBerry Widget Packager\bin

By copying the files of four 4 and sticking them in the BIN of your d files, you copy your signature to these can thus privileges. Please note that this approach will allow the privileges of signature for all on a 1 d machine, but will not work for d on other machines; signature keys cannot be installed on 1 machine.

If you have any questions about the process described above, feel free to contact me.
