Print screen function key

I have a HP Envy dv7-7250US notebook running Windows 8.1

What I have to press on in addition to the screen "prt sc" in order to print the screen!

I would like to be able to paste into a Word document, but may not know how to do it!

Wheatfoods,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The following applies at least to Office 2010.

Open the Word Document.

If you want then all desktop screen, click on the key Ctrl + PrintScreen and then on the Word document, right click and paste the content.

If you want that the active window, then the window is 'active', click on the ALT + PrintScreen then on the Word document, do a right click and paste the content.

You can also use "Snip" to cut any piece of anything on the screen, then use 'Save as' to save the capture to a .png or .jpg file.  In the Word document, use Insert to place the image in your document.

Say "No, thank you," and hang up.

    Hi David,

Please contact the Microsoft community. We will be happy to help you with your concern.

According to the description, screenshot image is large and you want to get it in normal size. Am I wrong?

Screenshot should give a 1:1 copy of the screen, you can check the zoom value, but it will be set to 1 x when you open it.

Please send us a screenshot of the screen so that we can check that the size and let you know.

Screenshot function key does nothing; can print the browser using 'ctrl + p' & 'icon' @ top of the screen of the browser (homepage of yahoo). If prt sc key is inoperative, have I not printer properly connected (hp print doctor says everything is fine & printed the test page) or, how do I activate the print screen function key?      Am off "speed & ideas; CAN SOMEONE HELP ME, PLEASE?

Print screen takes just a screenshot or screen capture - essentially takes a picture of what is currently on your display. It is not actually send this image to your printer.

If your laptop is Windows 7 or earlier version of the operating system, when you press fn + print screen, the screenshot is copied to your Clipboard. Open a program like MS Paint, and then paste (Ctrl + V) in the Paint window to open the screenshot. You can then save it and print it as you would with a photo, if you want.

Other than to start Microsoft keyboard anyone elese have all the solutions to make it work?

    Hello

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Follow these steps to run the keyboard Diagnostics

    (a) start Microsoft Keyboard Diagnostics. To do this,
Click Start, click run, type mskey in the Open box, and then click OK.

    (b) press several keys to verify that the keys match the keys identified in the MS Key window.

    (c) when you are finished, click exit.

If you get no response in MS Key on your keyboard, test the keyboard on another computer

Method 2: You can also use the on-screen keyboard and check if you are able to take screenshot.

  • How to use print screen (part two)?

The previous thread for the print screen function was marked as read-only and will not allow replies. I tried all the suggestions (PrtScr, CTRL + C + PrtScr, etc.) and then CTRL V in MS Paint, but print screen still does not work on my machine.

I am running Win 7 on a laptop HP Pavilion 6b32us cv7. I suspect there's a switch somewhere in Win 7 or HP that allows the key to be turned off. I know this because my former employer wouldn't anyone do the print due to HIPAA violations screens. Therefore, the feature has been disabled. Those of us in I.T. provided a third-party software that aloowed do us the same function, but it frees me not for physicians or healthcare staff. If I have to, I'll go out and buy the software. I really need this feature for a class I'm taking.

    Thank you!

    Kurt, welcome to the forum.

How do you know that PrtSc no longer works?

To test this, follow these steps:

    1. Press PrtSC on the keyboard.
    2. Open a new MS Word file.
    3. Press Ctrl + V on the keyboard. What do you see?

Anyway, snippingtool.exe is a much better tool for creating screenshots. I recommend that you create a shortcut on your desktop or on the taskbar.

  • Print screen does not work on my windows 7. Samsung laptop computer. Tried the fn, alt, cont + prt sc

Can't just 'print screen '. Have to go to paint, home, paste, save, name the file, select jpeg and then save again. Then go to the file and print it. On my old computer

I just clicked on print screen. Any help out there?

I'm not 100% clear what you mean - you say that you "click" print screen - where & in what program? Do you mean the print screen on your keyboard key?

Here's how the print screen button key keyboard should work...

The Print Screen key does not immediately print on the screen, as the name might make you think - it's a bit wrong to foreground. Instead, it copies the current image of the screen to your Clipboard. You can then paste this image into a program type photo editing (or similar) so that you can edit it or print it from there.

Another way of the foregoing is by pressing Alt + print screen on your keyboard - it's exactly the same as the above, but the image on the Clipboard is only the active window.

    Please see:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/take-a-screen-capture-print-your-screen

    and,

If the above does not answer your question please can you explain your problem more clearly so that we can help you.

  • Function keys not working only not with screen sharing

Sierra running on all machines. Until the update, I would use on iMac 2014 screen sharing to access a Mac Mini 2011. Everything worked very well. However, after update, function keys no longer work through screen sharing. I confirmed the screen sharing is the problem, as functions correctly with Mini bluetooth keyboard, and also logging since MacBook Air gives the same problem from the iMac. It wasn't a problem during execution of El Capitan or even when I used Sierra Beta on iMac.

Anyone has any suggestions or has met this themselves?

Have you tried using fn function keys?
