  Last week, I have updated my installation of OSX from Yosemite to El Capitan, followed by an update a day later to 10.11.4. I voluntarily waited a few months before the update, because the major release of Mac OS x updates are almost always broken in some major way, and this time, after being badly burned with the Mavericks and Yosemite when they went out first, I didn't want to not make the Guinea pig.

  I am a teacher and use Keynote for all my slides in the Conference. Two days after the update, I found that I could not use the presenter mouse to advance to the next slide. Thinking (rightly) that it was a small problem, I exported the Keynote slides in PDF format with each step of the construction and was able to do through this conference after my apologies for the 2 minutes wasted. Thanks for letting me fall, incidentally.

  I tested again on my second desktop monitor, and the problem persists. Mouse presenter, arrow keys on the MBP, etc.-, nothing works.

  I found a thread here that is supposed to provide a solution to this. The response accepted on this thread does not work. My Type of presentation is already set to normal.

  The only possible difference between my case and theirs, I can find is that I use a custom theme, which is derived from the standard white. However, as the type of presentation is set to Normal, which does not seem that this could be relevant. Logically, themes control graphic elements as how boxes, fonts, etc are arranged. They cannot control the operating system interaction.

  So, what gives?

  Just noticed another thing. The first sequence of buttons on the mouse (mouse presentation / keyboard - anyway) forward the presenter without moving the display. What is important, the loan to advance indicator goes from green to red.

  I found the working version, and it is version F.08.

  Supposedly new version have different Active cables, and this is the reason why the screen is dark.

  So, case closed, everything is perfect.

  I have the all-in-one HP Photosmart B110a, who stops working after applying "HP updates notification". Impossible to print or access HP Solution Center (nothing works). Only solution is to use the installation CD to completely uninstall the HP software & then reinstall. I always prefer to bring software up-to-date, but never for this B110a.

  Member of the family with the same B110a also had this problem today after inadvertently update, so I fixed as mentioned above.

  Thank you Gemini02, not sure what you mean by "go through the HP software. I can find the IP address in the box at tools of the HP Solution Center/printer normally, but after applying the updates, I am unable to access the HP Center solution so I wouldn't be able to change the settings. In any case, I don't want to apply updates in the future.

  I updated the OS to win 8.1 to 10 and it was somthly, but after this recent update to win 10 all at once the wifi has ceased to recognize all the networks around it... also the audio has stopped working. I tried the two troubleshooting and found the audio starts to work after you troubleshoot but wifi does not work. This happens everytime I turn on my laptop, and whenever I have to solve an audio driver to fix it but the wifi doesn't work every time... Please help... I also tried to update the drivers of these two, but he said that the drivers are updated every time... Please let me know if anyone can guide me through this problem...

  In addition, you can watch the the power management of your wireless adapter:
  Turn off the power to the adapter:
  1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
  2. expand the network adapters.
  3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
  4. click on the power management tab.
  5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  6. click on OK.
  7 test cycle.

  Reset TCP/IP on your PC:
  1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

• Audio stopped working after update

  I have a T5010 e-machines running Windows 7 Pro, x 64 with 2 GB of RAM.  The audio has stopped working after a few updates.  Don't know which because he has many people who installed at the same time.

  I tried to uninstall the audio driver then reinstall.  I tried the shooters to boredom.

  In Device Manager the drive is recognized, but the question mark yellow and says that the device does not start and he has (code 10).    When I start the computer, I get a message that does not start the Realtek audio.

  Try different helmet "well known." If those who still fail in your device (but work well in another device), then the deduction becomes one of the devices, which of course we cannot do something internet remotely. Since you say that you have no warranty, you are then looking for a local store (to you) with a technician that you trust and ask them to go to a good assessment and estimate.

  The fixed! So that's how I did it. As I said Distiller crashed when loading fonts. I noticed that, it crashed after loading the "Colonna MT" police, so I removed the police immediately after Colonna MT in alphabetical order. After the removal of the police, everything works perfectly.

  If someone else should be useful, name of the font in question is com (sRB). Don't know why it causes Distiller DC crashing, or why it didn't happen with previous versions of distilling, but that's all.

  I have 2 PCs both running windows Vista. A PC is a desktop computer ACER with a printer connected to a USB Port (HP Photosmart C4480). The 2nd PC is an ACER laptop also on windows Vista. I have a network home and print away from the laptop. Problem is when I restart the laptop I can't print remotely and do are Add' the printer again. Print spooling is nec automatic and active. I have downloaded the latest drivers HP for the printer. Just a note to say that ACER laptop my son who works in XP does not have this problem and can print after a reboot.

  What is the brand and model of your printer? Have you checked to see if the printer is compatible with Vista? You can check this in the Vista Compatibility Center located at this URL http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/ . Also, you can try installing the Vista drivers on the XP machine. If the manufacturer has released Vista drivers simply download and install the drivers on your XP machine.

• AutoFit Guest stopped working after update the VMWare Tools

  I've updated Workstation version 8 to 10.  I had several virtual machines of Windows 7 x 64 I then updated with the latest VMWare tools (v9.6.1.1378637).  Now, one of the virtual machines will not automatically resize correctly.  (Three other virtual machines with the same o/s resize correctly and with Windows Server 2008 resizes correctly.)  Workstation is set to Autosize > Autofit guest.  The resized correctly VM before VMWare Tools has been updated.  In other words, the auto resizing feature worked for the virtual machine within the 10 workstation when the previous version of VMWare Tools was installed.  Upgrade VMWare Tools triggered behavior.  When I use the 'Fit Guest Now' view of the virtual machine command flashes but does not resize.  When the my computer window is resized, the prompt is not resized.

  I tried the following:

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled VMWare tools.
  • Confirmed VMWare Tools (vmtoolsd.exe) is set to start automatically and runs.
  • Changed the display of the virtual machine settings to a custom resolution and then to 'host to use setting for monitors '.
  • Attempted to change the resolution of the guest, but he won't go high 1920 x 1440 (it should be set to 2556 x 1496 based on the resolution of the other virtual machines that resize correctly).

  Update of material compatibility on the virtual machine to which auto resize has stopped working has helped auto resize again.  Hardware compatibility was 6, 5-7.x.  I've updated to be compatible with 10.

  The question remains as to why three other similar virtual machines (with the same compatibility level of 6, 5-7.x) should not be updated so that the automatic resizing to work.

  I didn't want to answer my own question but hope this helps people who have encountered this particular problem.

  I have disabled both of the Firefox Add-ons, I use (NoScript 2.1.0.1 & Ad Block Plus 1.3.6) and restarted the machines, but that has no effect. This problem is repeated on more than one PC, running XP Pro (sp3), Vista (sp2) professional and Server 2003 (sp2), just after the upgrade to Firefox 4, so the problem is definitely related to Firefox 4.

  This could be linked to the new HTML5 rendering engine. To check for this possibility, you can temporarily disable.

  • In the filter box, type or paste the html5 and make a pause until the list is filtered
  • Double-click html5.parser.enable to toggle it false

  If it works after that, there may be some problems with your form layout (i.e., accepted in HTML4 but not accepted in HTML5), or you may have found a bug.

• Time Machine does not work after update of the Sierra

  The time function machine my Mackbook Air 2011 stopped working... it has not been saved since update for Sierra, it only take screenshots every hour, it will perform a backup is no longer on my external HD as before.

  There is no problem with the way it is implemented or the hard drive, it's me that my iMac is working perfectly since the update for Sierra and it's backup via the time machine on the same hard disk.

  It is a hard drive and put in place I was in use for about 5 years with no problems.

  Also since the update for Sierra I noticed that my MacBook Air gets hot and the fans go wild, although there was nothing or performance other than the system is auto.

  I lost the use of my built in camera after the update to El Capitan, and now I've lost the use of time machine... I was wondering if I should go back to Yosemite that everything worked well then!... is this possible?

  Update:-just so you know, time machine is to find the back up ok drive (external hard drive), it then goes to "preparing backup" and that's all, he remains in this preparation save the scene for centuries, after a while it just stops and it is saved all... nothing!

  Also noticed when I checked in Time Machine full backup I have before update for Sierra disappeared, he disappeared, been deleted... I don't know what is happening with it!

  Overall since the update for Sierra my MacBook Air did not work properly, in addition to all that Safari does not load, just to get the wheel spinning, and now (with the demise of my old back ups) it seems I can't go back to a previous state.
