  I found a document that talks about this problem.  He recommended that the reset of the printer that list you as something you did.

  I would recommend the once - printer reset, but if this does not resolve the issue - I return it.

• HP Deskjet 2540 won't print pdf file

  I have a HP Deskjet 2540 printer which was working fine until today when I tried to print a PDF on the net.  I get a screen saying it is flattening, and then the printer makes a noise as if it will work and then nothing.  When I check the device, he says that nothing is waiting to print.  When I tried to print it directly from the internet (using Chrome) it just print plain paper!  When I saved the document to PDF and tried to print, nothing like as detailed above.  I am using Winows 7.

  Well well, after 7 years using windows XP pro and my various printers HP over the years, I've always been able to instantly use my HP printer on the screen to see the ink level... I would go to programs... Find (printer todays) 2540 HP... Then click the icon to see my ink level...

  This is not the case with my windows installed 10...  I can print ok, but where is the Maintenance factor?  to clean the heads or see the ink level?

  I suggest that you remove all HP 2540 programs and then re-install thesoftware WIN 10 full.  Bwtween your WIn 8.1 and upgrade an error happened.

  I spent three very frustrating days with my printer.  Printer worked wireless fine and usb connected until about three days ago.  I've had it for a year and it worked very well for all this time.

  Now, it does print from my laptop. My wife's cell phone can print without problem wireless in another room.

  Here's what I've done so far.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software from the CD drive four different times. It installs and seems to connect properly.  Printer appears in "devices and printers".  It is not a test print.

  I installed all the updates on Windows 7 Home Premium X 64.

  I ran doctor Scan six times.

  I run scans on network for problems.

  I wipe my laptop and do a fresh install (I do each year).  But I did only 3 months.  Really don't want to do this again.

  I have nothing seems to fix.

  The printer connects to the laptop, it can be connected to a network printer. But no printing.

  It is simple ceased three days ago.  I don't remember the changes or warnings.

  I'm a little tech savvy and is not afraid to test - but I've exhausted what I can do.

  It seems to be a problem with permissions on my laptop but I can't in this case.

  I am a pastor and I use my printer almost every day.  I'm desperate for a solution!

  Found the answer in the forum.

  To use a different print driver for printers HP with Windows 7:
  1. click on the start menu.
  2 click devices and printers.
  3. right click on your printer.
  4. Select printer properties.
  5. click on the Advanced tab.
  6. click on new driver.
  7. click on next.
  8. Select HP in the first list.
  9. Select Deskjet 450 in the second.  If the 450 driver is not there, use the Deskjet 990c printer driver.
  10. click Next.
  11. click on finish.
  12. click on apply.
  13. click OK to close the window.

  Work on the two connected usb or wireless printing.  You don't have to change the 450 driver.  I do not know why the pilot of 2540 worked for a year and all of a sudden 3 days ago stop working-, but he did.

  On the right side of the top cover is a protuberance that based on a small switch in a hole at the top to indicate to the printer top cover is closed.  When you follow the instructions to replace the print head, the carriage moves to the left and wait about 30 seconds for the roof to open, knowing that he opened when happening releases.  On your machine, the switch for a reason not publishes so the printer think that you do not change the print head and transportation goes back. See if something is crowded in that little hole.  If you bought the printer from someone, sometimes, when he is assured that breaks switch for technicians find a way to activate it otherwise the plotter will not work.  Last use what you need to do and stops is when the carriage moves to the left is turn the printer off with the switch at the rear of the machine.   If you want to do a fresh install of your choice, you can try it on the way to the 'old', with a Startdisc of Windows 98 and an operating system of Windows of your choice.

• HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one: HP Deskjet 2540 does not print

  I bought my printer a while ago and implemented so I could print wireless from my Mac. The other day I had to print some PDF documents and printed first, but the other two never printed. In the queue, it says "ready to print" and the two buttons wireless to the printer are turned on. It also does not print when I connect it to the USB port. But when I print the test page, which printed fine.

  I see that you have some problems with your machine printing Mac OSX 10.11 for the all-in-one printer Deskjet 2540. I can help you with that.

  To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable if it is connected.
  2. Turn the printer off.
  3. While the printer is turned off, disconnect the power cable from the back of the router.
  4. When the lights come back on the router, turn on the printer.
  5. Close any programs you have open.
  6. On your Mac, click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
  7. Hold down the CTRL key and click on an icon of your printer on the left.
  8. Click on reset printing system.
  9. Click the 'more' in the lower left corner.
  10. Select your printer from the list.
  11. Click in the box next to and select your printer from the list.
  12. Click on Add.

  In my research on this W 10 compatibility, I already downloaded and installed the driver specific because it was a recent, so I assumed it would fit W 10, however I wasn't yet sure of compatibility.  Althyough not yet running W 10 - did not have the downloadyet but ordered weekks - there I'm ready for my HP 2540.

  I have a new Dell computer.  I have a Windows 7 with a free upgrade to a Windows 10.  While Windows 7 I have intalled a HP Deskjet 2540 printer then computer upgraded to Windows 10.  Now on Windows 10.  I uninstalled the printer HP Deskjet 2540 and now get the HP StatusBL.dll error every time when I start the computer.  I drive and looked at disk to find L4uninstall.exe and can't find it.  The disc has a Util directory but no directory of CCC in the Util directory.  How can I get rid of this error at startup of the computer.  I love the HP products!

  The error returns after a shortcut remaining once the software has been uninstalled.

  From file Exploer type %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup in the address bar and press ENTER.
  Delete the shortcut to monitor alerts to 2540 printer ink and the error should appear is no longer.

• Cannot print from Android phone to 2540 Deskjet using Direct wireless

  I try to print a document on my Android for my Deskjet 2540 phone using wireless live (so without a router involved).  I downloaded the HP ePrint app for my phone and have pressed the button wireless directly on the printer (the led next to it is on).  I enabled Wi - Fi radio on my phone and have made a link to my printer.

  But when I try to print the document (a pdf.doc) I get the following on my phone error message: no internet connection.  Please check your network settings, and then try again.

  Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I believe that when your Android mobile device is connected to the direct wireless network of your 2540 Deskjet that you can access the document, and you get a connection error message.

  When you are connected to the direct the printer wireless network can not access the internet.  If the document you are trying to print does not live on your mobile device, you must copy the file to your phone to be able to print it.  I have included the link to HP Wireless PrintingCenter - HP wireless Direct.  He has a good summary on HP wireless Direct with instructions on how to connect to it and how to use it.
