Printing with Deskjet 1010

I've been running my 1010 Deskjet for several months; Windows XP, all updates.
For some reason, after replacing ink recently, I had a lot of printing problems; PDF files have been incredibly slow, sometimes printing multiple pages before suddenly deciding to spit just to start a blank page and occasionally a half page of printing before you spit out the rest.
It was often impossible, requiring a reboot to try to cancel the current print jobs.
I uninstalled the software, reinstalled the base driver and managed to get some pages done before becoming again the white pages.
Any ideas?

Hey @WombatBob,

Thanks for getting back to me regarding this printing problem.

I don't think that there is a problem with your print spooler. If that were the case, no program would be able to print to your product. As you said, you are able to print with Word and you are just having a problem with PDF files.

You print through Adobe PDFs?

If so, you can try to uninstall and reinstall your Adobe Reader program.

Adobe Reader

Should this not solve your problem, I think you may have a driver conflict. To resolve this problem, you can load another driver of your printer to see if it prints all types of files correctly.

How to add another driver:

  1. Click on the Start menu and select Printers and faxes
  2. In the printers and Faxes folder, right click on your HP Deskjet 1010 and left click on Properties
  3. Left click on the Advanced tab
  4. Left-click on new driver
  5. When the new window driver opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
  6. Select HP as the manufacturer on the left
  7. DeskJet 990c select the printer on the right. If Deskjet 990c appears only to select "Windows Update" at the bottom left and once the update has been completed, you will be able to select Deskjet 990c.
  8. After that selection Deskjet 990c hit next complete the new driver Wizard
  9. The title of the Properties window, select 'apply' but do not hit OK
  10. Select the general tab
  11. Rename your printer HP Deskjet 1010 to
  12. Click OK

Once the driver is added in, try to print a PDF file and see how it goes.

I look forward to hear from you. Fingers crossed!

  • HP Deskjet 1010: Option to print to a printer HP 1010 preview?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my question.

I just setting to the top of my HP Deskjet 1010, and everything seems to work well. However, I'm actually know if there was a way to establish this printer to allow a dialog option "print preview"?

I looked through this forum a bit, as well as google the question, but I did not find this problem with the same model as mine. From what I've been able to tell, I don't think I have that option, but I wanted to make sure, that I find very useful.

    I'm running XP Home SP3.

    Sincere greetings,

    Hello @b1rd,

Thanks for posting in the Forums of HP and welcome!

I understand that you have questions about the use of preview before printing with your printer HP Deskjet 1010. I want to help you with this.

The reason why you were unable to find all the information about whether your HP Deskjet 1010 supports print preview, is because it is not a feature of the printer or the printer software.

Print preview is a part of the software that you are printing from. If the software includes the ability for you to get an overview of your print jobs, or it doesn't. This is not vary by printer, or change if you are using another driver print.

For example, Internet explorer provides a print preview option, the notebook doesn't have.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you very much for your answers!

Can I only noticed that your screenshot says that you are using a PCL driver generic Laser Printer. Tells me that this might be the wrong driver for this printer. I recommend you to uninstall the printer software.

After uninstalling, reset the printing system, then download and install the software from this link, series printer HP Deskjet 1010 full feature software and drivers. The driver should be listed as printer HP Deskjet 1010. Sometimes, it might have the series of Word in the title.

  • HP Deskjet 1010: HP Deskjet 1010 incomplete printing - best example - on Print & Scan Doctor

On the test page for the doctor of printing & scanning HP, the text at the top is not readable, it's so light (a turquoise? color). Below the color test of the band on this page, on the edge of the test of the line, the lines are very light (light turquooise?) at the edge of the left and right margin. (I'm not surré is something else isn't visible which should be.) For print-out page alignment, all lines except two (series D and series I) are not printed as well as printed sheet is completely unnecessary to complete the answer to the question sheet.

I had used (same model HP Deskjet 1010) until he developed the problem described above. Thinking it was a printer problem, I replaced the existing printer with a brand new HP Deskjet 1010 (same model), I bought for a long time as a backup replacement printer. I found out even with the new printer, I had the same problem as the previous printer.

(I also have a HP PSC that prints very well without any problem).

    Welcome @casey-CA,

Thanks to their participation in Forums of HP! I see by your post that the black does not print correctly. Please provide detailed information of all that. I will definitely do my best to help you.

Do you use the same cartridges for the printer on the other?

I would try the steps listed in this document, they should help to solve this problem: the problems of quality Print to the HP Deskjet 1010 and series printer Deskjet Ink Advantage 1010

If you are still having the same problem of printing print Diagnostics page then it would be a hardware problem and not software related. Let me know the results.

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see you have a few problems the printer connection to your Mac which has Yosemite as operating system.

This model of printer doesn't have a full set of features of software and the driver for the operating system you are using.

Welcome to the HP community @suhaibqureshi,

I've read about printing problems you encounter on 10 Windows when you try to print to your Deskjet 1010 and wanted to tender hand to try to help.

    1. first run the print and Scan of the doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for all conflicts that may be causing the problem. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there is a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. Send me the results when finished.

2 try to run the HP printer install Windows Wizard to ensure that the updated drivers are installed on your computer.

    3. try to print from a few different programs and let me know what programs you have tested and if they print.

  • HP Deskjet 1000 J110: Intense black print with the black ink cartridge only

    Hello

I am trying to print the darkest possible black, but simply by using the black ink cartridge. How do I get there?

My printer is HP deskjet 1000 J110 using cartridge HP 301.

I do my drawing in Adobe Illustrator and set the color to be CMYK 100 100 100 100.

If I insert only the black cartridge, the printer will leave empty place where color CMY ink should be or it will fill the space with black ink?

Basically, what I'm trying to do is to increase the density of ink to the highest possible but only using only the black cartridge.

    Thank you.

    Welcome @didididot,

Thanks to their participation in Forums of HP! I see by your post that you would like to be able to print in the black as dark as possible. I can help you.

You can use the mode single-cartridge:

Use single-cartridge in the HP printer with a single cartridge. Mode single-cartridge begins when an ink cartridge is removed from the distribution of the print cartridge. In the mode single-cartridge, the product can only printing from the computer.

Source: HP Deskjet 1000 J110 series.

Here is a document for printing with black ink only (Windows).

  • Change the order to print on a HP Deskjet 1010

On the Advanced tab in the Options for layout, I don't have the choice to change the printing order. I tried following the instructions given to someone else, but I don't seem to have the option "back to front". I'm sure I'm in the wrong place, but I tried every tab I can find. Thank you.

    Hello @chogekat,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you don't have an option to change the order of the pages using the Deskjet 1010. If you do not have this option in the layout options, then you can not change the order of pages. What is your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?

You can try to install another driver on your computer. If you have a WIndows computer, please follow this HP document to install another print driver in Windows 7 for a USB cable connection. Install a Deskjet 450, as it has an option to change the order of pages.

Please post your results, I will be looking forward to hear from your part have a good night!
