[PROB] SetWallpaper do not stick...

I'm with LabWindows CVI 8.0.1 with an application that uses the following line:

SetWallpaper ("0, «.\\CompanyImage.bmp");

where "CompanyImage.Bmp" is locate the executable file.  This line works because it sets the background image of Windows XP SP2 to the CompanyImage.bmp, but after restarting the PC and connection on behalf of wallpapers has disappeared (until I run the application again).

SetWallpaper function call is not designed to apply the wallpaper setting permanently?

I can't join the code since it is sensitive company.  However, it consists of the Main function that performs the following operations:

If (InitCVIRTE (0, argv, 0) == 0)
Returns - 1;  / * memory * /.

Call LoadPanel for two panels of the IUR.

SetWallpaper ("0, «.\\CompanyImage.bmp");

Did other things (setting up the panels, showing their etc.).

The PC is a Standard Windows XP installation.  There are five users. Two have administrator rights, others are limited accounts.  The problem is observed on the administrator account.

It isn't really a problem on limited accounts because the software is in the Start Menu Group (i.e. run as soon as the user connects).  The program goes full screen and disables the task bar, so they can't get in to the level of the office.  When they left the program it disconnects them.

When the software is run on the account administrator or another account with admin rights, my software is not automatically started.  If I do run it and kill it in Task Manager then the wallpaper has the value "CompanyImage.bmp".  If I then sign out and then sign in again the wallpaper was gone.

I'm trying to copy a newspaper online article, but it will not stick to a word document.  Have done this for years without problem. Windows want to now restore to an earlier date and send an error report.  I use Windows XP

The problem is that the NTN online newspaper is displayed as a Flash video, which essentially cannot be copied and pasted.  Because you said that you have been copying things over the years, I guess RTN has recently changed how they provide the journal online.

    You have two options.

    1. you can print the pages in which you are interested and keep in a file or loose-leaf notebook.  Use the 'print' in the journal view, not your browser file > print menu or the browser print icon.

    2. download and install free CutePDF Writer and the free converter of GPL Ghostscript of CutePDF.  It's probably better log on as a user with "computer administrator" privileges to proceed with the installation.  Check the FAQ.

After installing CutePDF Writer, whenever you print something, will be one of the choices for the printer to use CutePDF Writer.

Then, print the pages of the newspaper online RTN 1 above, but use CutePDF Writer rather than your 'real' printer  A dialog box opens asking you to designate a file name and a location where the result will be stored.  After a while, you will have a PDF of your selected pages (rather than a Word document).

  • Windows XP Home deselection of read-only on the FlexNet Adobe folder do not stick.

I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 and all programs except for InDesign. It comes up with an error message that says license has stopped working. Adobe lists several solutions, all that I tried with one exception that I couldn't because a step said to uncheck the read-only option for one of its folders named FlexNet. However, when I do this it deselects but it does not stick, if I look back at it now read-only is enabled. On a side note, in the same solution for XP Home it also says to disable Simple file sharing which is right impossible?

Yes, the Adobe instructions sound as if they are not familiar with Windows XP Home Edition. First of all, the read-only attribute is not applicable to records in any version of Windows - XP, Vista or Windows 7. That's why you see the behavior you are reporting. And as you point out, you cannot disable Simple file sharing in XP Home. In all cases, the Simple file sharing (which controls how a computer connects to other computers in the Local network) is likely to have something to do with InDesign does not.

I'm sorry that I'm unable to help you with this issue of Adobe, however. I guess you have uninstalled/reinstalled the program? If this isn't the case, you should try it. You may find an answer by posting in the InDesign user forum:

  • CC of Photoshop do not stick frames properly when you use the animation timeline.

Someone had this problem where they want to copy and paste a picture or a picture on a previous one on the timeline art and it creates a new layer not video instead? It seems to me that after working with the file for some time. There is a logic to what I'm missing?

I'm working on an animation "straight ahead" and need to juggle the frames around the calendar, and he won't let me paste it into my video layers. It just does not allow me to do. Others in my animation team have done this experience as well.

I tried the customer and that they did not understand what I was describing.

    ANSWER: (From Brett)

The problem is that you can not stick in a video layer framework that already has a kind of content inside. So, if you have already of this drawing on a given frame of a video layer, and then you try to stick in this layer, it will stick in a new layer instead. If this framework has no content yet or you clear the existing content, you can paste into this framework. If you come across a situation in which you cannot stick in the frame, you can select and delete the content, then paste will work.

Brett has solved! I hope that Adobe treats this confusion between the restriction in the future, if there are workarounds.

    Many thanks, Brett!

  • The appearance Palette opacity change does not stick

It is obvious that by changing the settings in the appearance palette line & fill that describes all of the following agree - well, it's sort of working-e.g. eliminating lines altogether and also change the fill of a new color remains in effect I use then the pen tool, but any opacity change does not stick. I put 20% before using the pen tool, but whenever I use the pen tool, it is up to the 'default'. It forces me to, and then select the shape you want, this is the end to change the opacity, so I can see what I'm doing.

Because everything is supposed to have the same opacity, it would be a great time saver to have my desired setting stay at 20% and will not return to the default value. I know that under SELECTION > OBJECT > ALL on THE SAME LAYER can change everything at once, but opacity lower as I work helps me build the forms correctly in the first place.

Can someone tell me what the devil I'm doing wrong?

  • Sticky feet do not stick down on the Web page by using a template!

I created a template in muse to use for a blog on the website of our company. He was perfectly fine until today of loading (or at least I first noticed today). The footer does not stick to the bottom of the page, instead, it remains in the original location behind the content of the blog.

Is the Web/blog site where the question is: http://www.couparconsulting.com/blog

    How can I fix it?

Another issue is that many of these images on the blog suddenly disappeared... don't know when or how it happened, but that the problem is not as critical as the foot issue.

    Hello couparconsulting,

I'm not really a user of Muse, but if you can get in your code, I want to change.

    http://jsfiddle.NET/chaddidthis/JbKS3/

    Basically you need to encapsulate the copyright from the footer and social footer links in a single div, I called .footer-wrapper. While giving a class of: clear: both;

Who will get your footer to the bottom, but there are margins, push it downwards, so the other ID's should have their margin-top edited 41px that they rest with copyright.

Test it first on a test page, so if it doesn't work you get no worse.

Again, I'm sorry I'm not a guy from muse, but if you can just make these small changes in your code, you should be good.

    It will be useful,

    Chad Smith

  • Help! Adjustments do not stick

I'm having the same problem described in some previous discussions:

Namely, when you use settings > curves, the changes appear in preview mode, but do not stick when I press OK.

I use Photoshop CS3 Extended 10.0 on Windows 7.0.  I got some black and whites of two artists drawings.  They are TIFF, converted to CMYK/8, with a single background layer.  My aim is to blacken the black lines in the sections selected using the function of curves.

I used successfully with images of the artist, but not an artist B curves, so I don't think it's a problem with my installation of Photoshop or my technique.  It must be something specific to artist files B.

I tried a few suggestions in previous discussions:

    (1) delete the preferences file and let Photoshop create a new.  No change.

    (2) in view of the image at 100% rather than, say, 33.3%.  In fact, it's worse.  The changes are visible in the preview to 33.3% mode, but NOT 100%.

    (3) created a layer duplicated with CTRL-J and I tried curves on it.  No change.

    (4) double-clique on the background layer to create a layer of the 0 curves and I tried on it.  No change.

    A few curious points:

    * Curves preview mode shows the changes when I lighten the sections, but there is no noticeable change when I darken the sections.  Yet once again, the changes do not stick when I press OK.

    * I tried the brightness/contrast function to see what would happen.  Nothing.  The images do not change even in preview mode.

But when I click on the use Legacy in brightness/contrast box, the function worked and the change stuck.  What does that mean?  That the files are saved in an older format version 10.0 cannot change?  I found a TIFF TIFF file.

To solve this last point, I saved the file under a different name and tried curves on this file.  I tried both the above four suggestions.  Once again, the changes in the preview mode were visible at lower magnification, but not 100%.  The only difference is that, unlike before, darkening of the image produced significant changes.  But the changes have not yet stick when I pressed OK.

These indices suggest that that is the problem and how to fix it?  I'm basically a novice in Photoshop, so I may have missed something obvious.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Rob

My aim is to blacken the black lines in the sections selected using the function of curves.

If you meant"expand"when you wrote"darken" and the lines are pretty much pure black filter > other > Minimum might be an option. "

Back to the question of the preview, maybe these screenshots may illustrate the problem.

Real pixels, one can recognize that the image has only black and white pixels that won't suffer from these curves settings.

In the small preview interpolation causes gray pixels that are affected.

  • Pagefile for OS partition setting does not stick

Recently, I installed a second hard drive and put the pagefile on it, taking care to leave a small swap file on the disk to the operating system as a receptacle for minidumps.  Well, I got a BSOD - but no minidump.  And the reason seems to be that, despite the settings virtual memory, there is no file on the OS partition. In Explorer, I can see pagefile.sys on the second disk (F) but nothing on the partition from the OS (C).  The latest development is that I tried to "No paging file" c in virtual, followed by a reboot and definition of 4 MB memory.  Another reboot and this time the pagefile.sys is here.  Unfortunately, the next time he disappeared again.  Can someone help me get it back?  Thank you

Yes, I am clicking on Set and click OK, and then restart.

I'm set to show hidden files.  That's how I can see the pagefile in F.  In fact, I even saw a pagefile.sys briefly in C after surgery:

    1. do not select No paging file.
    2 game of
    3 OK
    4 reboot
    5. Select custom size 4 MB min, 4 MB max.
    6 set.
    7 OK
    8 reset.

But by following start-up, swapfile had disappeared again.  And he did not back its own.

Make 20 MB and see if it sticks.

  • Changing resolution of 7 Media Center "will not stick.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate connected to a pioneer of 1018 (via HDMI) and then connected to a TV Samsung DLP's (also via HDMI).

Everything works; However, every time I start media center. Media Center change the resolution (1440 X 900, IIRC).  I then go in "TV settings" and reset the 1920 X 1080 resolution.  Then, all right; I can use 7MC without any problem.  When I leave 7MC, my office will look fine (also set at 1920 X 1080).  However, as soon as I restart 7MC, resolution (inside the library) is recovering at 1440 X 900.  It just doesn't "stick", no matter what I change the resolution to (within 7MC), it will not remain persistent between execution of the program.

The graphics card is an ATI 4850, running the latest Catalyst drivers.

    If I go to:

HKLM/SW/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version / Media Center / settings / display settings

I can see the resolution. I have change the resolution (inside the MC) and then exit the program. When I look in the key (see above), I see the change in resolution (that I just put in) and the correct settings.

When I then (after closing media library) reboot MC, the resolution changes (inside MC). I immediately see the change of this registry key as well. It's like, when I start Media Center, it goes in and changes automatically of this registry key?

I made a custom resolution (and tried another stock) in order to ensure; nothing seems to have no effect on her; as soon as I pulled out and re - open MC resolution is changed (from everything I put the last time I was there). Also, I tried "re - run the Installer" in Media Center without success. I am connected to the machine on an account with administrator privileges.

It's the BEGINNING of Media Center, that changes the resolution (and registry keys). MC output has no effect on the keys (they maintain the correct values).

    Hello

I spent the last month trying to solve this problem, and "youemailme" (another thread here) had the correct solution for me! And so Simple!

With me, what worked were 2 things:

    (1) perform the 'clean boot process' as advised by many to determine which granted software was causing the problem... and then.

    (2) right click on the name of the program (as discovered in above) 'problem' in the Start Menu > properties > compatibility.  For some reason, there is an option to "run in 640 x 480 screen resolution", which has been verified.  This program was in the startup folder and the cause of the problem.  Then unchecked the resolution box. No problem.

In my view, there are a large number of people dealing with this exact problem. I hope that this process of step 2 could solve their problems.

    See you soon

    Stephen
