Maybe these can help if you can get Safe Mode or use a disc of Vista (if you do not borrow)

This exit Windows updates on (after you have access) and stop the updates of the driver to load.

Windows XP Professional starts in safe mode after the service pack 2 update
I have an older version of Windows XP version 1.0 on a computer in November 2001 of the gateway that I have updated all offers updates of material such as BIOS and motherboard. Then to the service pack 2 update so I can load an antivirus software which does not load unless you have SP2 or later version. It loads like a champ and restarts, but Windows does not start normally, I have to start in safe mode and remove SP2. Is there a driver error that I need to find? Or is there an other update I need before SP2 for such an old version of windows? (He also did the same thing with SP3). Help! I tried to reload Windows with the repair feature, but was lost when he gave me a prompt C:\.

I used office.com and tried to restart the print spooler in the services.msc, and he gave me this: "window on computer Local Print Spooler service cannot be started. A security update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x 64-based systems (KB954430) is not installed. Windows Update fails to install this update and error reports: 64 C code. The off button displays an alert and when you place the mouse over it it shows "installs the updates and then shuts your computer." When I press it it says is to install the update and my computer shuts down and when I restart it it shows it is update and configuration of the update but when loading Windows Vista, in windows update, it shows that updated security for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for systems x 64 (KB954430) becomes available again. I tried to manually install the update by downloading, but when trying to install windows install indicates: "the feature you are trying to use is on a network that is not available. Click OK to try again or enter a different path to the folder containing the installation package ' msxml.msi in the box below. »
MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430) and MSXML 4.0 SP2 appear in Control Panel programs and features. When I click on them the only option is 'an install. When I try to UN install these the same message appears when you try to install this update manually: "the feature you are trying to use is on a network that is not available. Click OK to try again or enter a different path to the folder containing the installation package ' msxml.msi in the box below. »
To try to solve this problem, I emptied historical Windows Update. I tried Windows Installer Cleanup to remove MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430) and MSXML 4.0 SP2 so I can reinstall it but Windows Installer Cleanup crashes and displays a command prompt with a lot of text.
If Windows Update has found that you don't need, you don't have to worry about this. They probably have fixed an error in the update system.
