  You must have Service Pack 1 installed. Many things will fail otherwise. That's what the system requirements.

  I have an Adobe ID to my office for an Enterprise package. I downloaded a trial version of Indesign on my computer at home. The trial has now expired. I created a new Adobe ID, creative cloud has signed and purchased the $79, has gone through the process and paid.

  No one can tell you anything without the proper system or other technical details info. That said, it just seems that you have disk access problems on your system completely unrelated to AE. You need to fix this and then maybe the disk cache actually work...

   After you closed Firefox and ran the update, it then should have finished and opened the default browser to the Adobe web site that has a spinning box, this will say you are up to date. Did this happen for you.
   If so then I would check Windows list of installed program and see if you have flash and see if that date corresponds with the day you updated. The version number should be 10.3.183.7

  Why you try to manually install the update? You can just choose Help > updates in any Adobe application to have updates automatically applied.
