problem backup Time capsule

It has been 29 days since the last backup from time machine of my imac 27 "and the mac pro to my time capsule.

When I select the disk to use for the backup, after the display of connection to the disk 5 or 10 minutes later a messeage "wa there a problem connecting to the server airport time capsule."

Did you turn off all of the network and restart everything in the right order... modem to transport CANADA for computer... with 2 min between them?

If you have already tried you must reset the TC factory and redo the installation... it sometimes get lost.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

The installer the TC.

And then redo the configuration of the computer with the Mavericks - Yosemite - ElCapo. (MYELCAP)

1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the problem is using wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as it also seems to help stop the nonsense. But it can be tried in the second round. IE, plan on a first and second series of changes to fix this... If all goes well... I note other steps can you tour2.

2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC. But it's important for deriving from intellectual property in all directions when MYELCAP do not remember his name for 5 min after a reboot done for poor network management.

4. check that your share on the computer name does not change... Make sure that it is also in line with the above... short without space and pure alphanumeric... but this change will mess up your TM backup... so be prepared to make a new, full backup. Sorry... keep this one for the second round, if you want to avoid a new backup.

5 attach the TC disc into the computer manually.

In Finder, go, connect to the server in the main menu,

Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever ip of TC is that you made static. It's a default router 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with it unless you know what you're doing).

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

It is a lot more jiggery pokery, you can try, but the above is a good start... If you still find not reliable... don't be surprised.

You may need to do more work on the computer itself. for example, to reset the NVRAM/PRAM/SMC... helped some people. A clean installation of the operating system is also useful if you update installed.

Let us know how you go.

No luck there which modem you have... and what OS is on your computer.

Most any other details on your network that could relate to the issue... for example... are you using wireless or ethernet... other computers use without problems. Do you have an update or change anything recently?

  • Initial backup, Time Capsule will not end.

I recently started to use my Time Capsule to back up my early 2014 MBA 13 '' again. However the initial backup will never end. The TC is not used as a Wi - Fi router; It is connected to the existing wireless network.

When I started having this problem initially. I erased the disc TC and more fresh and Time Machine, under System Prefs, told me that the backup has been chugging along just great. Well... now, after he had all of August to reach the end of time Machine always shows me "waiting for full first backup."

If I choose "save now" widget menu bar or if I let the system restart automatically backups TM shows Control Panel "backup x of x, XX, XX" and the second number continues to increase. The backup will never end.

I searched the Ko of Apple and these discussion forums and not found the answer. What can I do to make this backup finish?

    TIA.

The TC is not used as a Wi - Fi router; It is connected to the existing wireless network.

And that's probably the problem, because Apple does not officially support backups Time Machine to TB unless you use the wireless TC, or connect the Mac directly on the TC using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

Things can work with your existing wireless network, but it will be no help if it is not. Sometimes in situations like this, a Mac will back up OK wireless, and another Mac will have problems.

As you try to add 'new' backups 'old' backup, Time Machine can also have issues with this, try to compare the old and new files and get confused about what to keep and do not keep. In this case, the recommended solution would be to delete older backups of the MBA and then start again and try a new backup.

Wireless is never recommended for a first full backup. It's OK to use it, then much smaller incremental backups.

If you try this course the existing wireless you have and still have questions, other than to try to save on the wireless TC, on the only other option to try would be to connect the MBA directly to one of the LAN port <>- on the back of the TC using an Ethernet cable.  Since you have an MBA, who does not have an Ethernet port, you can buy a bolt of lightning for the Ethernet card.  Maid in Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple

  • Problems with Time Capsule

I have problems with our time Capsule. My husband and I have Macbook Pro (from 2012). We use a Time Capsule as our backup disk but not our wireless router (we use the router provided by our internet service provider). We have configured like this for over a year and it is usually worked fine. In the last month, we had problems with backups does not happen. Currently, computer of my husband has saved in about 2 weeks, and mine has not backed up in 2 days.

It seems that our computers lose their link with time capsule. If I go to the finder, the shared drive appears under "shared", but if I click on it to connect I get a message that says "connection failed." Airport utility shows the time Capsule but has a yellow triangle next to it that says "device not found."

If I unplug the Time Capsule and plug it in again, it reconnects. I did this earlier this evening and was able to access the shared drive and make a return to the top. But a few hours later, this subject has disappeared again. I tried to do this same thing - unplug, get the rear connection, only to lose it again a little later. Any thoughts on what could be the problem? The Capsule was bought the same time than computers.

I guess what surprises me is that you had no problems up to this point.

Your computer must connect directly to the Treasury Board. Ethernet or wireless... It will break things especially in the BONES later if you do not.

Do you have recently move you to el capo... ?? That could have triggered the problem.

I lost the link but in apple of one document stated finally that you connect directly the computer now... because of the bad DNS in the operating system.

If I unplug the Time Capsule and plug it in again, it reconnects. I did this earlier this evening and was able to access the shared drive and make a return to the top.

That's why you get this nonsense. He is able to find the backup if DNS is renewed due to reset... After a few hours it is lost again.

What operating system do you use?

My recommendation is to put on wireless and a link to the direct of TC...

A TC Gen4 purchased in 2012 is now at least 3 years and let me tell also your reliable stage... you are now at the stage of growing decrepitude of old people. It might work correctly for a year or two... It can suddenly die tomorrow... but more likely will fade into the sunset.

  • Problem of Time Capsule Roaming Network airport

I'm having a problem by establishing a network of roaming.  When I plug my extender devices in ethernet cables through a switch to my Time Capsule base station, my wifi signal drops 150 + MBS next to the base station to < 10 mbs.

I have a wifi in my home network based on a new time Capsule airport base station (ATCBS) running firmware c. 7.7.7.  I have my 4th gen AEBS & a 2nd gen Airport express both race v. 7.6.7 updated firmware in place in Bridge mode to extend my network in different rooms in my house. The system works very well, but I wanted to increase the power of the signal in remote places so decided I would like to convert it to a mobile network by installing ethernet cables to connect my ATCBS the AEBS and express extensions.  I use a switch Netgear 5 port (NOT of GS205-100) that I only have a single LAN fanless available left port on my ATCBS.

I installed 3 ethernet lines-1 each in rooms with my ATCBS and airport express using mounting wall punch down taken using the convention of wiring 568B, AEBS.  These lines all end with male plugs in a unique space in the basement and are also wired as 568B.  Then I plug the ATCBS, AEBS and express lines in the switch in this remote area.

I've done a few connection cables in the role of Cat 6 cable, I had over the House, and they all very well with my cable Tester check so I know the cable itself is not defective.  The cables all run in the basement where I can see, so I know there is not any problem to be crimped/damaged.  I have not any gear to test the installed well son.  I visually inspected the male and female (punchdown) ends to ensure that colors are properly prepared.  I did a test of my jacks punchdown conductivity by testing 8 wires on the sides of the socket and the pins in gold on the inside where an ethernet cable connecting between the cut ends.  All wires are correctly leads to the appropriate pins.

If I plug just the ATCBS into the switch next to him and using a good patch cable I see no change in the strength of the Wifi.  If I can plug my express (also moved to the room of the base station) using another cable good patch in the switch, wifi drops as described above.  If I plug the ATCBS on the new socket and the switch at the other end - no change in force wifi.  If I plug the express in its remote location system also uses the new ethernet cable installed for him and passing through the switch, I get the wifi signal reduction.  I get the same result if I take the express up to thevbasemenbt and plulg the switch with a connecting cable).  It seems therefore that the problem may not be with the newly installed cables that I get the same result by using or by using cables good patch, and with the switch in the same room with the ACTBS.  It doesn't matter how I'm trying to connect all the devices together, plug extender devices into the system brings the WiFi falling to almost nothing.

Any ideas on what could happen?

I'm having a problem by establishing a network of roaming.  When I plug my extender devices in ethernet cables through a switch to my Time Capsule base station, my wifi signal drops 150 + MBS next to the base station to < 10 mbs.

That's what happens when you initially set up the device to the airport "extend" using a wireless signal... and then later connect an Ethernet cable to the unit of the airport.

Since the airport is configured to connect wireless and waiting for a wireless connection, the Ethernet connection and then creates a feedback loop massive on the entire network... in fact, basically crashed the network.

Basically, you have to start over again with the AEBS and AirPort Express and "Apple Installation Wizard" to set things upward. It's practically automatic. All you need to do is assign a device name to each airport and the wizard supports all the rest.

After the back if you need some advice on how to correctly configure things.  You can be amazed at how simple, it comes... and surprised by the wizard settings apply.

  • How can I find missing backups time capsule?

Installation of El Capitan in September caused my incoming mail to stop after a certain point, although he showed millions of so-called items waiting to be downloaded. After many attempts of troubleshooting, I went with my last resort for fitness and do a clean install of El Capitan.

When I went to my Time Capsule to restore my documents and applications showed none of my previous backups using the Star Wars. There are available dates in the timeline view, and the time Capsule shows my oldest as backup being December 1, 2015 after I ran the backup check, but I don't see anything beyond yesterday.

Backups must be present on the Time Capsule, because it shows "tuberculosis 1.14 2 TB available." My sparsebundle (only 13.2 MB) indicated no mountable file system when I double click on it. It also has . tmp.sparsebundle as the extension. There is no other sparsebundle showing.

I was looking for answers online and this forum and have yet to find a resolution. My first care in disk utility failed after a few hours, then immediately when I tried again. Any suggestions? Is it useful to fitness again? I did not choose the time Capsule to restore initially. I wanted to see if the mail would work before putting the time restore everything.

    Thank you

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

  • problem of Time capsule

Got a new modem from comcast, but now my time capsule will blink orange.  Utility box airport continues to appear on my screen.  Says that it cannot connect to the new modem.  When I click around.

Looks like I'm missing a step easy connection to connect.  The cables are in good slots.  Someone at - he seen this before?

Any time you change the material or providers of Internet services, networking, it's always a good idea to carry out a new round of power complete your network equipment. Check out the following Tip of an airport users for details. Please post back your results.

  • Problems of Time capsule

We recently bought a time Capsule 3 TB airport as well as a new iPad Pro.  I put it in place and working well.  We had gone for a few days and when we returned, we found that our devices (iPad Pro and MacBook Pro) link is no longer on the internet.  Our iPhone 5 s are still able to connect...

    This is not unusual.

This modem do you have? Make and model please?

    Who is your ISP?

Is the TC in bridge mode or router (if your modem is also a gateway router)?

Did you take the MBP and iPad with you and link them to other networks while you were there?

Seems that something strange can happen if you connect to several different wireless networks.

  • Time Capsule airport problems

I have several questions, setting up a home network, but I want to start with the problems I have with the time Capsule.

Until 2 days ago, the time Capsule was working fine.  My setup is the ISP router connected to the Capsule of time and the Time Capsule hard connections on a USB for extra storage and ethernet to an iMac.  Also several peripherals wifi like the pads and phones.  No problems.

This past weekend, I started to set up a home network by adding an ethernet (TP Link TL SG108E) switch to one of the ports ethernet on the Time Capsule.  Of the switch, I have then several ports around the House (recently redone to include an Ethernet cat. 5) connected now to two Apple TV and a security system at home.  No other device is currently connected to the ports and all connected devices work without any problem.

The time capsule.  In the past 24 hours, the time Capsule disappeared from Airport utility.  I can see the wireless signal and connect to it.  I use the time for constant Time Machine backups Capsule and continue without any problem.  I can see the Capsule in the Finder, can connect you and the USB that I have connected to the time Capsule, but no time Capsule in the utility.

My future plan must use two of the ports around the House with Airport Express devices to expand the WIFI, but as I can't see Time Capsule in the utility and I can't install Express devices.  However I tried to put in place one of the Airport Express devices and the process has begun to extend the Time Capsule network, but then I got a message "unexpected error".  So, first thing first, problem of Time Capsule.

    Any ideas?

    Let's first, as you note.

Your message did not mention if you had done a full Cycle of power network. If you have not already done so, it would be a good fundamental mission of troubleshooting to be performed, because he will give everything a new departure and will often solve a problem similar to what you experience. To do this...

    • Power off all the devices on your network... modem, computers, printers, accessories, mobile devices, etc. in any order you want.
    • Wait a few seconds
    • Turn on the modem and let it run only for 2 to 3 minutes or more if you want
    • Then, switch on the device connected to the modem and leaves turn a good minute
    • Keep power devices one at a time about a minute out until the entire network is back
    • Check the network

  • Time Capsule backup disabled on Bridge mode

    Hi all...

I have a 3rd generation (A1355) Time Capsule and I connected on a D-Link DSL-2520U router which is connected to my DSL via PPPoE internet connection. In order to get my setup working, I had to put the network on the bridge mode settings. Since my backup Time Capsule does not work, and when I try to manually force the backup system, it is said: "the backup drive is not found. Make sure that the backup disk is connected, or select a different backup disk. »

When I try to put the time Capsule to DHCP, it is said: "the DHCP range you have entered conflicts with your base station WAN IP address."

Now, what can I do to get it working again?

Bridge mode is the correct setting of the time Capsule, but you changed the 'path' that has been using Time Machine to locate your Time Capsule on the network, so that it can not find the time Capsule.

(Gear on the dock icon)... open Mac system preferences

    Open Time Machine

    Click Add or remove disks

Under the backup disks, click to select the current backup drive

Click on remove the disc at the bottom right of the window

    Close the windows

    Restart the Mac.

Then, go to time Machine again as above, click select disk and select the backup drive that you want to use, and then click on using the drive.

Wait a few minutes for a backup start, or if you do not want to wait... click on the "clock" icon Time machine at the top of the screen of the Mac, and then click Backup now.

  • I can restore time capsule backup to another computer that already has a user

Looking for help, my laptop was stolen, thankfully I have a time capsule backup. I could buy a new laptop, but I was wondering if there is anyway I can just restore my backup on the laptop of my wife, or if that's too difficult/impossible.  Currently laptop my wife not a as user, so my question is could I myself set him up as an additional user and then use my backup time capsule of my laptop now flown to restore everything on your computer? Just a question because I don't think we need 2 notebooks more, so would be nice to not have to buy one additional laptop just to get my time capsule backup. Any help much appreciated.

The Finder, choose utilities go to menu and use the Migration Wizard to restore.

  • Time Capsule do not write back ups.

I have a continuous problem with Time Capsule, writing of backups.  After having no problems for a couple of years, TC is now fails to write backup every 3-4 weeks and I found no cause or a solution to the problem.

TC shows well in the finder, the sparsebundles are there.  Time Machine creates the sparsebundles as usual and will make backups normally for about 3 or 4 weeks.  The error message is displayed "Backup failed" and said that Time Machine is unable to write to the file.  At this time there the existing backup is lost, I have found no way to recover.   I wiped the hard drive via Airport utility, recreated the backup only to fail again in 3 to 4 weeks.

I've set up another 3 TB HD connected to the iMac USB and have TM write backups on it without problem while the HD TC continues to fail.

MPB worked until this week and today shows the same error.

My setup is pretty simple.  iMac connected to TC via ethernet, MBP connected via ethernet.  iMac backup to internal 2 TB on TC's MBP backup 1 TB external connected to the USB TC.

Apple support suggested that the problem is a bad ethernet cable.  I tried to replace the ethernet cable, no change.  Turn off ethernet using wifi, no change.

It is not a problem of space, on both drives only half of the available space is used.

Someone at - he speculate as to the cause and the cure.  It seems to me that the problem is related to the connectivity of TC, the ports are bad?   This is my 3rd TC in 6 years, not real happy with reliability!

Unfortunately, the TC is probably more reliable products Apple... my opinion.

It seems that the surface of the disc to the hard drive of TC has one or more faults that are causing backups corrupted after some time. The only good solution is to replace the hard drive inside the TC or replace the TC itself.

If you think that the surface of the disk is OK on the TC (I don't have, based on the experience), the only other thing to try is a full erase of the TC hard drive using zero on AirPort Utility.  It will probably take 4 to 6 hours or more depending on the size of the player you have on your TC.

If you don't want to lose the backups to other Macs, you need to copy to another drive before you delete the TC, then copy on once the operation is complete.

  • Time capsule flashes yellow

Are some time I noticed that my time capsule was blinking yellow.  The wireless seems to operate normally.  I got a new router to comcast, but the same problem occurred; Unplug/plug-ins, it research and find the router and will stabilize green.  But after about a day, I noticed that it goes back to the flashing yellow. I had this time capsule for almost a year and it has worked perfectly until about a month.

Also I'm not sure if it's back up correctly.  When you use the icon to open the capsule of the 'last backup Time Capsule' and the next line down giving the time backup last letters are light gray.  Other information is normal dark letters.  Is this normal?

Exactly this modem do you have?

Some modems only port are causing problems.

If you changed your modem to modem router or vice versa, you must reset the TC factory and redo his configuration.

When you use the icon to open the capsule of the 'last backup Time Capsule' and the next line down giving the time backup last letters are light gray.

It is gray, because it is information, not a command... you can not change the information.

When you open TM, you will immediately see if the backup works. She should have made a backup, an hour before.

I'm writing this at 16:37. When I check the time when backup TM is less than an hour ago.

  • lost availability of time capsule

Unexplained loss of availability for the backup time capsule. Last backup was ten days ago. I recently added an express train from the airport to increase the scope of network, but it was less than 10 days ago.

What are the numbers of exact model of each of your airport base stations? Is your Time Capsule (TC) of your router "main"? In other words, is it connected directly to Internet modem by Ethernet? What is the brand and model of the modem? How long have you had this TC and have you had backup on her problems before adding the Express?

  • Cannot view or connect to the Wifi network of 5 GHz with Time Capsule from Apple 5th generation

I have a new Apple Time Capsule 2 TB with 802.11ac network support. I have setup my base station in order to disseminate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network SSID. I have 2 apple (iPad Mini and Macbook Pro) time devices can see and connect to Terminal 5 GHz network however I have also a Lenovo Vibe P1 phone (dual band wifi supported) and Samsung Galaxy Tab S compressed (dual band wifi supported) and these devices cannot see or connect to the network of 5 GHz of Base Station. I also have a Cisco router that has a dual-band support and all my devices can see and connect to the network of 5 GHz of this router.  So I wonder why I have this problem with time capsule?

I have reset my base twice station and it is a new device purchased last month.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Did you use the SMB compatible names for everything...?

That is to say the alphanumeric short, without spaces and Pure...

for example base station name... TCgen5

    name TCwifi wireless

Have you also used the password corresponding to these requirements... but can be between 8 and 20 characters.

If so, then you must give a different name to 5 GHz and delete the password and test... If it's not yet connect the test manually on channels 36, 44, and 149 for example if you are in the USA...

  • Toshiba Stor.e Alu 2 1, 5 TB not rocognized Time Capsule

Please tell me how to solve this problem:
Apple Time Capsule don't see HARD drive while the computer MacBook Pro itself defines.
I tried to format the drive in various formats, but the result is the same - drive is not visible!

    Hey,.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with the disc external HARD itself if the laptop recognizes it but not the time Capsule

Is that the HARD drive works correctly because if you connect directly to the computer, it works. So the problem must be the time Capsule. You should contact Apple for assistance because it s not Toshiba related issue. There may be an update to the device or other thing that will improve the USB connection.

    Good luck! :)
