Problem Bios V2000.

Hello

I'm working on a Compaq V2000 for one of my friends.  It worked as well as possible until I reinstalled the bios. While I could not start. I suspect that I have installed wrong bios and try to find a DOS version of the bios installed.

This device seems to have more than one identity for her. The main label is

Laptop model: Presario V2000 (EP377UA #ABA)

However, if one is plugged in the p/n string as a search on the HP site, results return model V2555US.

The V2000 model and V2555US model have different bios update versions.

The bios currently enrolled for the V2000 model is F23.

The bios currently enrolled for the V2555US model is F27.

I applied the F27 version and will not start now. The cmos is displayed correctly. However when I try to install Windows, the system crashes after the "Windows is loading files". I suspect a gap between the info from the bios and the physical device info causing Windows Installer to become confused and stop.

I would install A F23 bios but cannot find a BACK tool to do. I've isolated the F23. IMG file and I want to install it.

Help, please

Thank you

This does not seem to coincide with a hard drive problem.

I don't have access to such a system, but return in the BIOS.  Y at - it an option for anywhere for IDE or AHCI SATA settings?  If so, try to put opposite of what it currently is.  For example, IDE to AHCI to IDE or AHCI.

Another thing to check and it's easy to miss, nothing is connected to all other than the charger?  If so, unplug all non-essential devices.

    Hello

The real time clock battery (RTC) feeding the clock/calendar internal and the maintenance of the system configuration settings.
This error can occur when a machine is left off for a long period of time and is the result of a depleted battery for RTC
So first step you should try to charge this battery.

The RTC battery, plug in the adapter and turn on the computer.
Leave the machine for about 24 hours to ensure a full charge in the RTC battery. Please note that the RTC battery will not charge while the laptop is turned off, the adapter is connected or not.

In the configuration screen of the BIOS press the [Home] key to restore the default values, and then press the [End] key to save and exit, and then press [Y] to confirm and reboot the system.
Then set the date and time in Windows

As long as Windows starts, you will see an error message about an "invalid system time." Go ahead and click 'OK' to clear the error dialog box.
Open Control Panel, and open the command 'Date and time' by double-clicking its icon. Set the date and time, then click OK to save.

  • 2481 - 3SG L530 - first 1.4 GB of RAM of 4 GB 'reserved by material' and now 2.2 GB? Problem BIOS/UEFI?

    Hello

Using a Thinkpad L530, which becomes a few weeks over a year (-> warranty expired). Running Windows 7 64-bit on it (in BIOS compatibility mode).

There is, at the same time (cannot say for sure) four months when I installed an update of the BIOS (which jumped several versions), then all of a sudden my resource monitor showed 1.4 GB of memory reserved by the hardware.

I did some looking and also called the hotline of Lenovo Germany support (because they don't send support) because my unit was still in warranty, at this time, but useful guys might not help me get back memory - the conclusion was that for some reason, that the update of the BIOS must have changed how the integrated graphics card memory is managed intel (size is dynamic). Due to the fact that a downgrade to BIOS was impossible (due to some changes), they also offered to replace the motherboard with an older BIOS revision, but I refused (I have that it will not much help because I need to upgrade the BIOS later anyway, and really, I didn't miss my primary work machine).

However, yesterday, after having done nothing more to try the different operating system a few live CD and certainly not after installing a new BIOS update or similar, sudden reserved hardware memory was 2.2 GB (I can say 100% certainty that Monday, it was not, since I was unable to resume a VirtualBox VM suspended Monday due to the change of configuration of memory - and to make sure I also was installing drivers) (or updates to the BIOS since Monday).

So I'm now sure that this problem (and probably also the other I had before) was not caused by an upgrade of the BIOS or changes how Intel's integrated graphics is managed, but more likely a BIOS/Firmware bug.

Also, the missing memory shows not only in Windows 7, but when I start a live Linux CD or at memtest86 boot.

So I studied a bit and found out, that if I boot a Linux live CD (which support it) in UEFI mode (with CSM disabled legacy support), suddenly I can reuse many of my 4 GB of RAM. But only here, and I would use it on Windows and not by the re-installation of a license of Windows 8 in UEFI mode...

Some information that I have collected (such as memory card EFI and card memory at the start of Windows and Linux, and Linux UEFI, screenshots of Windows) is available in this post in another forum: http://superuser.com/questions/746497/what-hardware-device-used-to-eat-up-1-4gb-of-my-4gb-ram-and-no...

    Does anyone have any suggestions

-How do I know where this memory is gone?

-Why memory cards so different between boot UEFI and BIOS/CSM

-How to get the memory (without replacement)

I heard of many problems UEFI (not only for Lenovo but also other suppliers) is caused by certain invalid EFI variables, is there a way to reset all variables of the EFI on my laptop (I am aware that I may have to reconfigure the boot settings later)? I tried flashing the BIOS (a version at the bottom and back again) and installation by default, or reset settings Secure Boot loading, but that did not help for my problem.

  • Problem BIOS v5-561P-6489

I have an ACER Aspire V5-561p-6489 that no longer starts. Black screen, HD light flash, but no screen.

I had this problem about a year ago and has been able to re-flashing the BIOS with the procedure of Fn - Esc. But I can't find the *. FD file required more.

The BIOS on the ACER website do not have this file.

Can someone point me in the direction of this file?

    HE IS ALIVE!

I used the isflash.bin file, but I had renamed.

The position of IronFly link shows how to rename.

The BIOS file on the acer website was name V5WE2217.exe so I've renamed isflash.bin V5WE2x64.fd.

copy to usb key, put the USB in the laptop.

Remove the battery, unplug the power cord.

Fn - ESC, while now the Fn - Esc I plug in the power cord and press the power button.

It took a few minutes and the laptop is back to life.

Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.

  • Problems BIOS Update & administator

I have a Dell PC in Vista Home Premium.  I'm trying to update the BIOS and I get the following response.

    Flash Access Denied
Please make sure that you are logged on as administrator, and then try to re - watch demand

Now, I'm the only one using the PC and it says that I am set up as an administrator.  I tried to turn off UAC, even in command prompt, but I can't seem to run.  I am able to install programs and drivers for my pc with no problems. Any ideas?

I found this in my system properties.
    There are two profiles
an administrator saying and the other with my name.  It gives me the option to delete the Administrator profile. Should I do?

    Thanks for your help

No! Do not delete user accounts. Instead, temporarily enable the built-in Administrator (disabled by default for security reasons).

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

Log and now on the Welcome screen, you will be an icon for the administrator. Connect to this user account and make your BIOS flash. When you are finished and that the computer has restarted, connect you to your normal user account (which must be a Standard account for everyday use - see suggestions on configuring user accounts in Vista at the end of this post). Once in your normal user account, disable the built-in Administrator again for security.

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

GENERAL for the establishment of user accounts in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is an OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • Latitude E6420 - problem Bios Master

    Hello world!

I just bought a new Dell E6420. While I was installing the computer with Windows 7 (mode Sysprep), I played a bit with the "Dell Data Protection - Access" software. Out of nowhere, he put a 'Admin' password for the bios during startup. Problem is when the computer is in mode sysprep, the end user do not know the 'Administrator' password, so I do not know the password that was set in the bios.

I have searched the net and heard about the "Master Bios Password", so I called Dell to get. It is, it doesn't work!

My service tag look like: XXXXXXX-1D3B

They gave me a very long password, with numbers, letters (non-bouchons and plugs).

Is tehre any special think I need to do to enter this password? As ussing the "keyboard" with the FN key to enter the password? Should I press a special ombinaison of some keys to reset the password? Dell is supposed to send me a new motherboard, but I prefer to have my work computer today. I can't wait 4 days to do this.

    Thanks again for your time!

  • Tecra 9100 - problem BIOS update/restore

    Hi all:

A few days ago, I (declining misguidely) tried to update the BIOS on my Tecra 9100. Now on startup I get the message "BIOS (Block1) is damaged! (Call the repairman). Technician: Place the maintenance disk in the drive and press any key when ready "." I tried to restore the BIOS by following the instructions on the web page of the BIOS (traditional method using a USB FDD) driver - put on with the key immediately to the left of the SPACEBAR key leads to the message "ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update floppy in the drive and press any key when you are ready to move forward. "The disk is regularly consulted and the laptop will beep every 10 seconds for a period of a few minutes. Then it stops, but should be repeated after any key is pressed. There is however, no change in the information in the form and no result just possible restart in the same error message on the BIOS damaged.

Anyone can shed some light on what might be happening here? I'm afraid that I maybe should I follow a few instructions on the screen (as the instructions for the update of the BIOS suggest) that I do not see that the screen is not active? So I can't hit the correct answers when required. Should I really the military and its maintenance diskette? Is this disk available anywhere if I can do it myself?

Any help or suggestions that anyone can give on this subject would be much appreciated - I don't want to go hunting a new motherboard unless it is absolutely necessary.

    Cheers, Chris.

    Hello Chris

I am not a technician, but according to your assignment, I'm sure that your BIOS chip is damaged. I'm afraid of nothing that you can do everything alone. I recommend you call and explain the situation.

I'm really skeptical you will find these special tools online.
