Problem connecting to the Buffalo TeraStation with Windows 7 Pro

Our network has a server running Win2K AD files.  We have added a Buffalo TeraStation TS - X 2. BTA/R5 for more than a year to complete our storage.  Since that time, we had computers, Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Pro, and trendy Home and works very well with the Buffalo TeraStation.  Recently, we have replaced Windows 2000-based computers with Windows 7 Pro computers.  Everything works fine - except that they do not connect to the TeraStation.  I can ping the TeraStation.  I can see the TeraStation.  But when I click on the TeraStation to access folders and files, I get an error as follows: "the folder. \\TS-XLFAA is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  The user name is not found. "All the other workstations access the TeraStation very well, because they always have.  I can't find a solution to this problem.  I tried setting the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\LmCompatibilityLevel' value to 1 and changed "network security: LAN Manager authentication level" to"send LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". as suggested by others, but it didn't work.  Any ideas?  I have several Windows 7 Pro computers that cannot access the TeraStation storage.  Help!  Thank you...

Browsing through the posts, I found something that worked.  It was suggested to disable the use of IPv6 in network properties and use the ip address of the NAS instead of the server name.  I opened windows Explorer and typed in the address like this: \\192.168.1.11\ and the server was available immediately... Thanks CODY!

  • Problem syncing via wifi palm tx with windows xp pro

I had my palm tx for a couple of years and had no trouble to sync to my xp pro machine until today. I just got a new wifi-router/modem dsl from embarq (it's a ZyXEL P - 660 H - D1). I had no problem with my old wifi-router/modem dsl (D-Link DSL-G604T). They are two: 802. 11b / g I activated b and g on the new router.

The Palm TX connects to the new router with wpa and I can surf to display web pages.  However, he doesn't "see" my office on the network. I made no changes to the my office network configurations. (The desktop is visible on the network when I use my lapto). I checked all the settings in my palm tx and my desktop hotsync Manager. I tried to connect with the IP address of the desktop computer in the Palm, but nothing works.  Can anyone think any configuration in the router that I could change to fix this?

FYI I can synchronize using the cable, but I really prefer to use wifi for synchronization.

Thanks for any help you can give. (I'm new to this community, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I searched and could not find an answer.)

    Message relates to: Palm TX

Hello darthemma, welcome to the Palm support community!

It seems that you have the correct settings.  I can only suggest you do 'Static IP' for computer and TX in your router.  Who will assign the same IP address to each device at all times.

Here is my standard "Wifi Hotsync" help file.  I hope that helps!

    WiFi HotSync with a TX

    1. on your PC, locate the Manager HotSync (small HotSync icon in the lower tray of the right tool on a Winbox). Click top and check 'Network', then click again and select Setup.

    2. choose the network at the top tab in the window that opens and locate your HotSync name in the list. Make sure it is checked.

    3. press the button of TCP/IP and look for the IP listed for "main PC address. Write it down.

    4. turn on the Wifi on your Palm and you connect to your router.

    5. on your Palm, select the HotSync program and press the word "Network" over the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen. Below, enter the IP address that you noted in step 3. (Include periods!).

    6. tap the HotSync icon big above the IP address and hang in there!

    7. If you stand and nothing happens try a HotSync cable, then retry the HotSync Wifi. Sometimes, information is to be transferred from your PC once you check the network option. Also, don't forget to watch for any activity of firewall ask you questions about "HotSync.exe tries to access your hard drive" etc. You may need to define a rule to allow him to.

  • Problem connecting Wi - Fi networks unsecured with Windows 8

    Hi all!

I have problems connecting to unsecure networks that require more authentication via browser thr, as networks of the hotel or Starbucks.
The networks work wirh all other devices I have, but on my laptop with Windows 8, it doesn't.
I get a "limited" connectivity and I can't sign on the browser page.
Why is it so? How can I fix?
    Thank you!

    Hi Emme,

The issue is limited to any particular Web site?

This problem can occur because of network settings.

Try the following and see if it helps.

    Method 1:

I suggest you to run this utility from the following troubleshooting and check if it helps.

    Network troubleshooting:

Open the network troubleshooter utility by hitting swipe in the edge right of the screen, tap Find (or if you use a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the pointer of the mouse down and then clicking search), saving troubleshooting network in the search box, touching or clicking on settings, and then type or identify and fix network problems.

Resolution of the problems of Internet connections:

Open the troubleshooter of Internet connections by hitting swipe in the edge right of the screen, tap Find (or if you use a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the pointer of the mouse down and then clicking search), entering the troubleshooting in the search box, touching or clicking on settings and then by typing or clicking on the resolution of the problems. Press or click Network and Internet and then press or click Internet connections.

    Troubleshooting network adapter:

Open the network adapter troubleshooting utility by hitting swipe in the edge right of the screen, tap Find (or if you use a mouse, pointing to the top right of the screen, move the pointer of the mouse down and then clicking search), entering the troubleshooting in the search box, touching or clicking on settings and then by typing or clicking on the resolution of the problems. Press or click Network and Internet and then press or click on the network map.

    Method 2:

This problem can occur if authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network checkbox is enabled. If this box is checked, but there is no server to authenticate the connection is interrupted. If you turn on the wireless network connection, it disconnects again after a short period.

To disable authentication IEEE 802. 1 X, follow these steps:

    a. press "Windows + R" key on the keyboard to open the run window.

    b. type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER.

    c. right click on your wireless network connection, then click Properties.

    d. click the wireless networks tab.

    e. under preferred networks, click your wireless network, and then click Properties.

    f. click on the Authentication tab, click to clear the authentication enable IEEE 802. 1 X for this network check box and then click OK twice.

    Method 3:

Wi - Fi and in Windows network connection issues:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/network-connection-problem-help#network-problems=Windows-8&V1H=win8tab1&V2H=win7tab1&V3H=winvistatab1&v4h=winxptab1

  • Need to connect to the home network wireless - Windows XP Pro - error with network password - needs to be 40bits or 104 bits...

I have a new laptop at home which has windows xp sp 2 is installed.  I am trying to connect to my wireless network.
    I get the following error;
The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration.  This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii or 26 hexadecimal characters.

I gave my father a new laptop computer this fall and he gave me one that had given him his friend... I've never worked with XP Pro...

We have several other phones on this account wireless at home.

You try to login with the wrong encryption method and you have this implemented extremely secure wireless network.

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Problem on HP Pavilion dv7-6c90el with Windows 8 Pro x 64 on video card

    Good evening

I just finished installing Windows 8 x 64 Win7 Pro, I could find all the drivers for my laptop, but I have problems with the video card settings.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv7-6c90el with two graphics cards, one managed by the processor, because it seems to do, and the other is normally installed on the PC.

The cards are read by Windows as:

Unit 1: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Unit 2: AMD Radeon HD 6700 m Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20)

the problem lies in the fact that the device must be a supported per second, or disabled, as it will not be. AMD video card must be set to 1 and the intel 2. If I go to the "Device Manager" to disable the card intel Windows, it works as if he was absent any video card, also installed driver is not correct because the card is an AMD Radeon HD7690M XT, the problem is that even if I uninstall this driver then always comes back. I also tried to download AMD Catalyst in the latest version, but can't find the card. It's as if the windows are imposed only use the unit 1, which, however, I can not disable the BIOS, because there is no voice. I note that Windows 7 had no problem.

I ask you to help me because I need the video card for my work performance.

Fixed the link - please try again

ANY IDEAS - HAVE I MISSED SOMETHING?

    Thank you very much

I try to pull up the built-in web server (EWS) by entering the IP address of the printer in a browser and set a static IP & DNS address.

The information for the default gateway, subnet mask and IP address can be accessed from the Setup menu on the front panel, go to settings > reports > network summary and it will print off the coast.

Once you entered the IP address in a browser and have the EWS pulled up, go to the tab above titled "Networking". Then click on IPv4 in the left column; who will bring to the top of the address configuration page.  Place the manual radio button and fill in the IP address, the default gateway and the subnet mask with the information from the report. You don't fill the part entitled WINS server, which can be left alone.

You will then want to fill in the DNS of the page part, the favorite should be set to 8.8.8.8 and the alternative/secondary must be set to 8.8.4.4. Then click 'apply '.

Power cycle the printer. Turn off the power, wait 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Once it is fully operational, try again to connect to web services.

  • The audio volume with Windows XP Pro. Result of the SP3 distorted audio recorder?

    Hello.

Is it me or don't drop result audio volume of my WAV in a Windows XP Pro update. SP3 sound recorder? Is this a bug in this program or something else?

Also, does anyone know a good free audio program that will make lots more low audio volume in a bunch old WAV files? One is a pain in the abdomen end-to-end. :(

Thank you in advance. :) Ant @ Ant links fed quality (http://aqfl.net) and The Ant Farm (http://antfarm.ma.cx).

Audacity will do what you want - a good. Its freeware and is a full blown audio editor. You need to normalize your track and to use a negative value to reduce the volume.

    http://Audacity.sourceforge.NET/

One thing though: If your wav file already has a built-in distortion (that is to say "clipping" - when some parts of the song go above 0 dbl and so distort) nothing you do will get rid of the break of the said.

You can see this by looking at the waveform track in Audacity. Is there is no flat areas where there should be highs, and they are above 0dbl then your track is cut off and there is a high risk of distortion. Is there is no flat areas (only the peaks) then your track should be ok (as long as they are not above 0dbl) and you can 'normalize' it.

Try Googling "normalize batch file" (or similar), you can find what you want.

    See you soon,.
