Problem connecting to wide-band cable WRT54G2 & Virginmedia

Hello

I just purchased & installed the router on my computer (Vista).  After you follow the installation instructions provided via the installation disc, I have problems with my computer main cable connection.  Whenever I turn on the computer, the router and the modem, I have no internet access.  The only way I am able to fix is to use the tab repair the connection on the Linksys Easylink Advisor.  After his diagnosis, that I am then able to connect.  I hope I have so not to turn off the router/modem I can switch the computer off and then on again as often as I want to and will always have access to the internet.  However if I then power off all three, i.e. computer, router & modem I lose connection and must go through the procedure of connection to repair again.  This happens every time.  I completely uninstalled my anti-virus (mcAfee), but this makes no difference.  I also, if I bypass the router to connect the computer directly to the modem cable compatible internet connection via ethernet cable.  So I guess that the problem must lie with the settings of the router.  Have also tried the router/modem with another computer (XP) with the same results.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you

alexaia

Thanks, seems to have worked.

I have BT as my ISP to wide band and, due to the location of my Pc, to do a wireless connection to access the hub into several rooms by far.   The signal strength is rarely better than "just".   My connector adapter is a part of the NET gear.   The problem is that connection keeps falling out (he took 10 attempts to get this message for you).   I go to the Internet access icon in the task bar and click on "Solve problems" which usually results in a reset of the network connector adapter.   So this message for you.   Unfortunately this reconnection rarely last long.   Is the Netgear of BT Broadband cupply problem or what else can I do to improve the situation?   Heeelllpppp!

    Hello

According to the internal structure of the House between your PC and the hub, you can very well have permanent restrictions to get a reliable signal. There are solutions to these types of situations. Try your PC upwards near the QUATIERS and see if you still have any questions.

  • Problems connecting to internet by cable

I'm not too computer savvy and I try to use a wired internet connection.

I disabled my wirelss and yet no show of ethernet cable.

I tried to change my outgoing ethernet cable and use the one that I received with my Bell bundle, so probably not a cable problem.

When I try to look for another connection, there are none.

I read something by making sure your drivers are updated or installed, but I'm not sure how to proceed. I have passed to windows however (windows 7) and did an update, however.

I had to recently that microsoft remove my windows 10 and return them to the 7, because I work from home and the programs are not compatible with windows 10, as of yet.

    Can someone help me? :)

I don't know anything about computers.
I buy the G40 - 10F and get sky to wide band and they say that you need a spare ethernet on the computer.

All I can find is RJ11 and RJ45 is the ethernet in a differnent name.
If I can't do a link to broadband this portable ill save my money.

    Hello

    Don't worry man.
Qosmio G40 supports all ports that are important in establishing the sky broadband.
The RJ45 is the Ethernet port; known as port Lan ;)

You can connect the modem to broadband from sky to this port using the LAN cable just ;)

  • Satellite C850 - 19(d) - problems connecting to internet

Ive had problems connecting to the internet for the past weeks.
I used to be able to just open my browser after my phone finished putting in, but now I have to wait because after setting up my connection is limited so I have to wait for it to connect completely.

When it finishes by the fact that he goes to random then disconnect. It used to take long periods of time, like an hour or something while now it disconnects after 10 to 20 minutes, that drives me crazy.
The only thing that will fix it restart my laptop.

I use a single network where I have a fixed IP address, the family use it, but we all different IP addresses so it should not be because of this.

The other network is open, but it has the same problems.

Curiously, when I use more than one window, a window or tab could still operate, usually that's my facebook chat. Often this will continue to work, but nothing else. No other tab, or even facebook will update. He'll just ask that there is no internet connection.

The network will be disconnected and will not reconnect until I restart the laptop. I tried to just disable the wifi for a few minutes, but he does not either. You have to restart.

As I said, there is a fixed IP address, but because there are 4 other laptops in my house, we all use a different IP address, including smartphones, but nobody else has this problem. What makes me think this is my laptop which has a problem, but I don't know what.

I need that an operating system can cause problems like this but I don't have my operating system changes, and it's always Windows 8. Can't do updates because I don't have internet for long enough.

Is there something wrong with my network card, or is there something else?

    > Y at - it something wrong with my network card, or is there something else?

I assume you mean the wireless connection. Is this right?

First I would recommend you to check if the same internet connection using the LAN cable.

Second, you should check if you have the same problem using the laptop with the battery or even computer using the socket.
I m asking that because in many cases power saving options can affect the connection.

Last but not least, you should also check if it would be possible to update the WLan driver (in case you use the Wlan connection).
In many cases the Wlan driver update would solve some compatibility and feature wireless problems.

  • Toshiba NB550-111 - no connection if the LAN cable is more than 2 metres

    Hello

My newly purchased Toshiba NB550-111(Windows 7 Starter Service Pack 1) has problems with the LAN card.
If the LAN cable is more than 2 meters, no relation to Allied Telesyn switch (no indicator led on the switch, 2 other desktop computers already connected). I tried not to connect in a different port (one used previously by one of desktop computers), no connection. I tried with 3 cables, still no results.

Cables (cat5E, so important) have been tested OK before with a cable Tester, and I use both of them without any problem with another 2 desktop computers at home. I set another cable (5 m long, newly purchased) and tested for connectivity. It works very well with the other two offices, no results with the netbook. I tried with adapter it works, I disabled ' energy efficient ethernet "NIC, still no connection properties page. It only connects if the cable is less than 2 meters. I tried to connect the netbook directly to the DSL router, still no connection with a longer cable.

The device is reported by windows as work very well, and the test Toshiba utility ends there is no problem. Windows I configured in the Control Panel, the Plan balanced for maximum performance in the power options, still no results.
    Any ideas, please?

Now maybe stupid question but what is with WLAN? You don t want to use WLAN?

  • Problem connecting Bluetooth with Windows Mobile Device Center

    Hello

I have and HTC Snap with WM 6.1 I want to connect to my Satellite P500 running Windows 7 to be able to move the files by using Windows Mobile Device Center.

I know that this device can talk to this laptop via bluetooth, because there are some utilities bluetooth Toshiba that I can use to get a connection.

However, even if the Toshiba utility recognizes my bluetooth device, but WMDC is not. WMDC recognises my device when it is connected with a USB cable.

I don't know about the drvupdate-amd64 download which I think is necessary with WMDC but when I run what it looks like all it does is try to install a device driver for a device that is 'unknown '. I get a message at the end that driver could not be installed.

I have run out of ideas on how to get these things to work. Someone at - it a similar experience?

Could this be a problem of COM port? My Bluetooth device to 40 com affected Toshiba stack I don't see a COM 40 in the WMDC, just a port identified as "Bluetooth" settings

  • Network with Airport Extreme problems connected to the Linksys switch

I have a wired network in my house.  It has the following configuration: Modem base station Airport Extreme for Linksys switch and then all wired connections.  It is in a wiring closet in a room upstairs.  I have 2 other extremes from the airport, to spread out of the range, but they are currently disabled and disconnected from the network until I have found why I get auto ip address on several of my wired connections.  I have reset the modem, EI and switch.  More wired connections seem to be working very well, but there are 4 or 5 who say that the ethernet cable is connected, but it can not connect to the internet because of a self assigned ip address.  I thought maybe it was a problem with the port of the switch, but when I plugged a cable work in, everything worked again.  Thus, for example, on my iMac, in a study downstairs, I had plugged on the ethernet port in the wall.  He let me only to connect to wireless internet.  He says the ethernet connection had a self assigned ip.  I went upstairs and took the cable from the switch and directly connected to the Airport Extreme, and then connect to this iMac worked fine via ethernet.  So I'm really confused as to why it does not work when it is connected to the switch.  Why are only a few connections ethernet works and others not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are only a few connections ethernet works and others not?

Because either you have a bad port on the switch (unlikely, but possible) or a wired Ethernet connection bad, or maybe both ends of several of the Ethernet cables (99% of the time, the problem is in the wiring or connectors Ethernet... not the switch).

But, we must test the switch first and then work from there.  It might be much easier to call a guy from wire or the custom installation specialist to do all this for you, but if you want to give it a try... Here's how.  It is not difficult at this stage, just take some time.

Unplug the switch except the Ethernet cable that connects the AirPort Extreme to each cable Ethernet switch.  Label each Ethernet cable with a number or a letter you can install the wires in their original position on the switch.

Use of a laptop computer with an Ethernet port and a short, spare Ethernet cable... virtually no matter what length will make... and turn off the WiFi on the laptop so it should use Ethernet to connect to Internet.

Test an Ethernet port on the switch with the laptop and the Ethernet cable to make sure that you have get a good Internet connection. If you do so, test the next port of the switch. Continue until all ports of the switch has been tested.  With luck, they will all work.

If this is the case... which is likely... then you know that the Ethernet switch is working properly.

Now things get a little more complicated. Ideally, you have documentation that tells you what Ethernet cable goes to what area of the House. If you don't, just connect the Ethernet cable to the switch... then go to the other end of the Ethernet cable to the wall outlet and connect the computer laptop and short Ethernet cable to the wall socket.

If you have no documentation to indicate where each cable goes, so go ahead and connect all the Ethernet cables to the switch.

Still, make sure that the wireless is disabled on the laptop so that it can only connect to the Internet via an Ethernet connection. Check if you can get a good connection Internet in this way. If you can, then you know that the individual Ethernet cable and the Ethernet port on the wall are working properly...

Test other areas one at a time the same way.  You are very likely going to find Ethernet cables or a wall of ports that do not work properly. The hardest part here is that you... or a wire guy... will have to check the Ethernet cable at both ends to ensure that the Ethernet Sockets have been installed correctly.  It is not easy. The wires are tiny and its easy to get involved.  Installation of new Ethernet cards, it's really a job for an experienced guy who will provide hopefully a cable Tester well when it comes.

Some Ethernet will certainly be replaced.  In rare cases, the cable itself has a break somewhere... and it's not easy to fix something like this, without pulling new cable... that would not be possible according to the House provision.

When you know that all ports on the switch are working and all ports Ethernet wall around the House work... so... we can get the network set in place and working properly.

After that, the printer asks to reset and it restarts with wireless off.

I have a cable modem with router wireless of my cable TV UPC provider called UPC Ubee EVW3226.

I tried to connect the printer to the router using the WPS button and provide the password. In both cases, I have the same behavior.

I have a dozen other wireless home devices that connect without problem to the router. But not the printer.

Please let me know what other information will be good for you to solve the problem. Or, please provide a workaround solution.

    I found the solution:

connect to your printer cable (you can use a direct eth between your computer and your printer cable), access the web interface and disable support IPv6 (let the IPv4 only verified): network > General > protocols > only IPv4 verified. Save and restart the printer.

In 80% of cases, it will work on the wireless connection. For the other 20% when it does not work, try to assign a static IP address to your printer (network > Wireless > IPv4) in a second time. Take data from your router (IP, gateway, DNS).

  • HP OfficeJet 6500 E710n: HP OfficeJet 6500 printer problem - connection to new Comcast Wireless Gateway E710n

Use this printer (wireless) for a few years without problem connected to a Linksys 802.11n wireless router.  Connected to a desktop computer and two laptops.

Comcast asked recently that I update my modem cable to a new wireless, which also serves as a 802.11n access point wireless router.  I installed the new point wireless very well and has been able to set up the printer on a wireless network. (IP, host name and Mac address doesn't appear on the thin printer).

I reinstalled the printer drivers on each computer and everything worked very well last weekend.  This weekend, I went to turn the Scanner on the desktop (HP Pavilion, Windows 7, 64-bit) and it wouldn't work.  Then I reinstalled the device drivers and then there was no connection to the printer (many reboots the PC and printer at various times during the tests).  So I ran again the connection settings on the printer - and led wireless term.  (I was able to get the scan to the connection to the computer once on one of the laptops, never the office, then lost.  When I send to the printer, it goes into the queue, a very small number of bytes, cross (usually hear the printer starts) then there lost error "connection to a printer.  Oddly enough, a couple of times after canceling the print job in the queue, the printed test page actually printed a few minutes later...

I tried to use HP Print & Scan Doctor - it was a complete waste of time.  To date, it has always died (do not connect not not the unit) and never been able to diagnose something.  I end up having to go to the Task Manager to kill him because he always hangs.

    Any thoughts?  I'm puzzled.

Appreciate any help/ideas that someone can think.

FYI - I have still no idea what the question is / was?

Connected to the gateway wireless from Comcast to the old Linksys router and I went back to my old wireless network.  After you have reinstalled the printer drivers, re-connection of the printer to the old wireless network, re-start the printer and computers - I was (finally...) manages to get printing and scanning works again.

    What a waste of a morning/afternoon.
