Problem installing Windows Media Center: get error 'no IR hardware found ".

I keep getting stuck trying to set up my tv tuner in my HP Pavilion laptop dv4 (entertainment version), I have a satellite signal, a TV HP Hybrid Tuner (which did not come with a large part of the documentation.  So I get through all the setting up until the last section, where it says "my remote control must be able to change the channel on my set - top box and that"no IR hardware not detected"he also tells me to see my hardware documentation (zero to watch), so I'm stuck...» Help, please!

You need to trick MS media center.   To implement, choose manual configuration. Then the antenna.  Analog.  Finishing.

Go to the main configuration of media center page.  Click on TV.  Guide.  Add a channel.  I added 3.    Now I just use my remote for my cable box to change channels...

So far, it works like a charm...  Good luck, hope it works for you!

  • Windows Media Center gives error wmp.dll

Original title: Windows Media Center - Vista - does not - please help!

Hello.   We had a problem with Windows media center after the SP2 update.   We tried a few workaround solutions, and now we get the following error: "C:/windows/system32/wmp.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try to install the program by using the original installation media or contact system support".  I was unable to find a download for Windows media center in Vista.  Can you help me?

    Hi EricLarson_CL,

Method 1: Perform the analysis of System File Checker (SFC) that might help you resolve the issue.

To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
    2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
    3. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

Follow the instructions in the link below for more information on scan SFC.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/936212/

Method 2: You can turn off & on Windows Media Center in Windows Feature & check if the problem persists.
Turn on or off Windows features

Method 3: Try to rebuild the Media Center data store and check if it helps:
    (a) exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.
    (b) delete the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:
    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB
To remove the file, follow these steps:
    (a) click Start and then click on run
    (b) in the Open box, type run and then click OK
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    (c) in the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome and then click OK.
    (d) in the details pane, right-click right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click on remove.
    (e) click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.
    Start Windows Media Center

Note: You may not be able to download Windows Media Center for vista, but it is integrated with the operating system.
    Hope this information is useful.

  • How to avoid turning off Windows 8 when I install Windows Media Center?

I purchased, downloaded, installed and activated Windows 8 Pro on my laptop. Then I asked for and received the key to Microsoft's free product for the installation of Windows Media Center.  I used the key and installed Windows Media Center.

My laptop restarts automatically after the installation of Windows Media Center, but my Windows 8 Pro has been is no longer enabled. When I tried to use the product key of Windows 8 again to reactivate Windows 8, I got a message saying that this product key had already been used by another computer.

I thought that maybe I had done something wrong, then just to make sure, I repeated the procedure as a whole: I reinstalled and reactivated Windows 8 Pro. I checked under "System" to ensure it has been activated and it was.
Then I used the free Microsoft product key once again to set up Windows Media Center for the second time. When this facility was completed, and the computer restarted, Windows 8 Pro is no longer enabled. And for the second time, when I tried to activate it using the product key Windows 8 Pro, I got a message saying that this key has already been used by another computer.
So my question is: how install and activate Windows 8 Pro and then install Windows Media Center without disabling Windows 8?

I suffer from the same problem you describe and even followed the same steps that you did.  After having my windows disable the first time after installing windows media center, I did the installation 'clear all' and he always gave me the message that my key was in use after installation of Media Center.  One thing I noticed, the last five digits of the key it lists on the page to turn on, show my key of windows instead of my windows media 8 pro key.  It almost seems like my windows media center key is somehow get confused with my windows 8 pro key.

    Try to upgrade manually:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

If the problem persists, select the option to keep personal files only, this means that you will have to reinstall applications.

    original title: Hi Please help

I am trying to install windows media Center on my laptop but carnt find any where to go. all I want to do is use with my xbox any help guys, thanks

    Hi, Matt.
You can't 'install' Media Center - either you have it, or you don't have.
Media Center is included in all versions of Windows 7 Home Premium on-site (except for certain markets (Europe and the Korea come to mind), where it is not included by default (but there is a pack for this.))
If you have the Starter or Home Basic, you must make an Express upgrade to Home Premium (or higher).

  • Video Windows Media Center HDMI error problem

I noticed this problem scattered on these forums, and it took me some time to find the solution on other forums, but thought I'd post it here. For people using some graphics cards ATI HDMI with windows 7 MCE, trying to play Dolby Digital sources causes the MCE crashing. The error will say something in terms of "video error... in windows media center must be restarted." This happens about 10 seconds after the video with audio playback SD. I tried to play with all the different types of codecs ffdshow and AC3Filters etc.

The solution is in fact a major bug in windows 7. To work around this problem MCE7 and windows sound properties cannot assign 5.1 speakers. You define the sound properties in 7 Stereo 2.0 and keep the MCE to 5.1 for dolby Digital encoded files without MCE game crashing. I hope that MS will make a fix for this because it is a serious problem, and the solution is not easy to find.

I have a ZOTAC ZBOX ND02, dual ATI 750U Tuners and Windows 7.  Reloaded the o/s once to resolve quickly the it and returned.  Spends hours on the subject.  Switching to 2 speakers in the MCE Assistant did the trick.  Thanks for the tip.  Phew!

  • During the registrationof windows media Center recording error

I just reinstalled Windows XP pro on my laptop using the support disc that comes with it.  Formatted the C drive and installed.  At half way through a message "errors of recording when recording in Windows Media Center." For more information, see - windows/medctroc.log.

After accepting this installation on board after starting a box came up with "Starting windows first time.»  Please wait. "Nothing happened and I ended up re start it manually.

Another view "configure."  Windows Update - dot.net .net service pack 1.1 - dot - restart

Yet once I had to reboot manually.

error came: sl1a.tmp common language runtime debugging services application has generated an exception that could not be treated have id = 0x4e0 (1248), thread id = 0x4fo (1264)

When widows finally came message read - system will restart - not found ngen.exe entry - point and then - get asked the version of the runtime could not be found in the dynamic binding.

I open IE and try to get updates and a message says "the requested lookup key was not found any active activation context.»

I managed to install Opera, but that is not enough with Microsoft update.  Could someone please help?

This looks like one of three things is unhealthy

    (1) your installation disc

    (2) your RAM

    (3) your hard drive,

You must test each and then determine if its more cost effective to replace the unit or machine.

    (1) test the drive in another machine with IsoBuster - an analysis of surface and find if everything is OK if there are some errors present

    (2) tΘlΘcharger a RAM www.memtest.org - run at least 8 passes Tester and see if errors appear

    (3) download the utility from control of the manufacturer of the HD and create the bootable CD - do a quick scan and then the long scan of the hard drive and see what it reports.

  • Windows Media Center Configuration error

Hello. I found people with this problem all over the internet but I have yet to get a final solution.

My PC is running Vista Home Premium with Media Center the greats. It is connected to my wireless network.

My Xbox is connected to the network directly, as he's sitting right next to her.

My PC detects the Xbox in 'Network' and it appears as an Extender when I run the Media Center application. My Xbox gives me the 8 digit code and I put it. I said I want to share media, and it then goes to the configuration bit extender. Then it says Configuration error.

I have enabled Media Player via my firewall, open all the necessary local ports and don't have any other firewalls up. I don't know what is happening.

I'd like to get this up and running, so any help is welcome.

EDIT: Just realized this placed entirely in the wrong place. Please move it, mod?

  • Problems with Windows Media Center cumulative update 2

    Hello

I tried to set up my xbox360 to work with windows media center.  Whenever I try to install the Update Rollup 2, he created a restore point and as soon as he arrives to install the fix, says installation failed and my computer must be restarted or something to that effect.  I did some research and found the threads on the .NET framework 1.1 Hotfix and checked for her and she does not appear in my programs add/delete, menu, so I don't think that may be worth.    It drives me crazy, any help would be appreciated seriously.

Yes - you will need to reinstall Windows to fix.  And, Yes, you will need to backup your data first and reinstall all your programs later.

I'll post instructions later tonight (they are on a machine at home).  In the meantime, now is a good time to start copying all your data to elsewhere.

    Kind regards
    Chris.

  • How to install Windows Media Center & decoder: Please help!

I have a HP desktop computer. There not yet 2 years old, I have Windows Media Center (WMC) and I could watch TV very good about it until I'm the cable box. I simply plugged the cable into the Tower, no problem. Now that I have the decoder, I'm confused as to what's missing to make it work! It is said that the IR hardware & IR control cables are missing. What does that mean? Also, how far I will use? Do I have to use a universal? Oh, and it shows the channels that are supposed to be here (for example: it comes through that channel 53 is supposed to be MTV, but there is no video or sound).

    Thank you!!!

    -Lisa

Set your tuner, PC TV channel 3 or 4 according to the cable box output channel.  The decoder is initially connect to the wall and the video output is connected to the PC.  Use the remote control for the set-top box to change channels.  If the PC is to drive the sound then you will also need to connect audio cables (red and white) from the cable box to the audio inputs of the TV tuner card.
