Problem installing Windows XP Recovery on Satellite 5105-S702

Don't know if it is the correct newsgroup for this problem.

Tried to reinstall Win XP Pro on my PC Toshiba 5105-S702 using the recovery CD (circa 2001) that were provided with it, but was blocked at the beginning of the recovery process, with a message indicating that the product key is not valid. I suspect that it happened because originally faulty motherboard on laptop computer had been replaced by a new motherboard.

Fortunately I had previously bought a Version XP Pro SP1 detail a few years before, so I was able to use it instead of the recovery CD.

However I still would like to know how to solve this problem (with the original recovery with a new motherboard CD), before buying the retail Windows XP Pro version, in which case this problem also happens with my new laptop Pro M70.

If you'd be grateful if someone could give advice.

Thank you

AlanCB

Hi Alan

Can you please tell me where you bought this laptop model? At first I thought that it is a model of cell US but I can't find it supports us page.

In any case, I also think that this happen because of the exchange of the motherboard. DMI information is false and not identical with information on recovery media. Check please an interesting and similar problem on a thread Qosmio.

    Hello

just a quick question: is the recovery for Vista work? I mean, it sounds like a hardware problem, but usually if the machine worked well before, it must be another problem. The image that was created with nLite is maybe defective...

  • How to install Windows without recovery disc - Satellite A660 with new HARD drive

    Hey,.

Portable 500 GB HDD of my friend Toshiba Satellite A660 seems to have died.
I tied him to my laptop on a sata dock and runs a data recovery program because nothing has been saved. The recovery takes forever, however, and she really needs his computer to work.

Because the hard disk may be damaged in any case, I am considering buying a new hard drive and install in the Toshiba.

How can I do this without a recovery disk, though?
The old drive was a partition recovery on it, I think, but this seems useless with a new drive.
Operating system is Windows 7 64 bit home edition.

The product key is on the bottom of the laptop.
I live in Turkey and so I don't think there is a Toshiba store is close.
There are individual computer stores, so I'm confident, I can buy a new internal hard drive (I could find the sata dock here), but he must know what to do to install the software, etc.

    Thank you!

    > How can I do this without a recovery disk, though?

You either have the recovery disk or you are going to install the system using the Microsoft Windows disk.
The necessary drivers are in internet on Toshiba UE page.

The recovery disc can also be ordered here:

Windows 8 - Refresh PC pre-installed Windows key recovery or installation DVD disc

The problem is that the number of keys for Windows 8 is required for this operation, and I can't get it. I got Windows8 pre-installed when I bought the laptop, so I don't have the installation DVD, I did not collect the number of keys in any documentation or found on the laptop.

What can I do to make sure that if I can restore Windows 8 and all my data on the laptop?

    Thanks for your help

To put it bluntly, YOU n 'T NEED a KEY! When you reinstall Windows 8, it is automatically activated from your key incorporated in the Bios. There is no need for to go you into the Bios to get the key. With Windows 8, it is how it is done. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

    Can I install Windows XP on a Satellite A300D - 14 p?

.. .thx for any info and/or messages...

    Hello

    Just to clarify something:

-If you want to install Windows XP Home edition, but do not change the BIOS settings (leave it in AHCI mode) at the beginning of the procedure of facilities you must load a SATA driver by pressing F6. That's only way to install Windows XP Home edition with success
-You can install WXP without driver SATA, but you must change the compatibility settings. Everything works fine, but if you change the settings on back ACHI you get BSOD every time when you try to start Windows XP Home edition

If you want to install the SATA driver please install WXP if you use SATA starts the driver before installing Windows XP Home edition.

  • Problem installing Windows XP Mode in 7 Winjdows

I have a problem installing Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 Pro 64 running on a Dell Latitude E6510 laptop with an i5 processor and 8 GB of ram.  This machine supports hardware virtualization, and it is enabled in the BIOS.

Before downloading software in XP Mode, the MS download required Windows validation Web site.  Downloaded and reported validation validation and a successful installation.  Then I downloaded Windows XP Mode (WindowsXPMode_en - us.exe, 481 052 KB) installation package and the package of Windows Virtual PC (Windows6 1 - KB958559 - x 64 - RefreshPkg.msu, 16 692-Ko).  Then, I installed Windows XP Mode; the installation ran without any problems apparent and reported success.
According to the docs of download site, the next step is to: "... click on the Windows 7 start button , and then select all programs > Windows Virtual PC > Windows XP Mode to begin the installation."
My problem is Windows Virtual PC does not appear anywhere in the selection of all programs list - believe me, I looked.  There is, however, a new directory called
    c:\ProgramFiles\Windows XP Mode\
but it contains no exe file.  It contains a file of 1.2 GB called Windows XP Mode base.vhd - but it is not clear what to do with it.  There is also a tutorial subdirectory.
I tried to reinstall Windows XP Mode (without uninstalling first) but I just get a warning message that the program is already installed.  Windows XP Mode appears on the list "Uninstall or change a program" in the module programs and features in Control Panel.
I tried running (Windows6. 1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu(Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu, goal that throws error 0x8007000d, "The data is invalid."
If at this point, my question is simple, "what to try next?
    Thanks in advance.

The right way to install Windows XP Mode, you must first install Windows Virtual PC, and then install Windows XP Mode.

    You must install both files:

    1 Windows6. 1 - KB958559 - x 64 or x 86 architecture that you run

Restart the system, and then install:

    2 WindowsXPMode_en-we

    ------------

    Uninstall Windows XP Mode:

Click Start, type: programs and features

    Press enter on your keyboard

    Scroll down

    Select Windows XP Mode

Click Change/uninstall in the command bar

    Uninstall Windows XP Mode

    -----------------

    Restart your computer

Proceed with the installation of Windows XP Mode in the right order.

    --------------

If it does not always show upward:

Click Start, type: enable or disable windows features

    Scroll down

Make sure that Windows Virtual PC is checked

    Click OK

    Reboot if prompted

  • Satellite 5105-S702 Touch ED error during the startup process

When I start my Satellite 5105 - S702 laptop with the v8.4.0.24 of antivirus from Computer Associates (CA) software is turned on, I get the following at the end of the boot process error message:

    Error affected

Recovery of the THotkey failed. "
    Part took place - TouchED.exe - (THotkeyFindProc)
    Function failed - FindWindow)
    Error code: 0 x 00031402, 0x00000002

However, when I disable the CA antivirus software and restart the laptop, I don't get the error message.

Thus, it would seem that the CA AntiVirus software causes this error message.

Would be grateful if someone could give advice if they have this problem with this laptop model, or the Satellite 5105-S701, or European equivalent model 5100-603, and how they have rectified it.

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    Hello

    I agree with you.
In my view the installed (CA) anti-virus software is not fully compatible with the Toshiba Hotkey Utility or the software anti-virus doesn't recognize properly and can not handle.

CA anti-virus does not for me but maybe you could set some parameters to ignore the Hotkey Utility from Toshiba.

Maybe it helps if not I recommend you contact Computer Associates support team.

  • Problem installing Windows on Satellite L655-1EK

So almost six months before my laptop apart to windows update. After that followed problems with the update of Skype and other programs. Then it does not install games and different programs. After canceling the update or install, he know that there is a problem with Windows Installer. I searched the internet to find out how can I solve this problem, tried EVERYTHING, but nothing works.

So I decided to reinstall windows. I have Windows Home premium 64, but when I have donwloaded from different versions of the windows (from version torrent and official) it says that the type of the operating system installed on computer mobile im - one deferred tries to install. Not knowing what to do.

    Can anyone give advice?
    Thank you.

    > Do not know what to do.
According to the specifications of the laptop it came with WIN7 64 BITS HOME PREMIUM so the best thing you can do is to install the original recovery image that you got with your laptop and everything should be ok.

    Can you do this?

  • Satellite A200-1YO - problems installing Windows XP Home edition

    Hi guys,.

First of all I'm new here so Hello to everyone here and I hope you can help me with my problems of software.

I recently bought a laptop model Toshiba Satellite A200-1YO provided with windows vista (which must be frank, pants and IMO too demanding for the machine) and I have a problem with vista, because some of its features do not seem to work, for example, I'm having a lot of trouble getting some of the webpages to open now, they simply hang out.

now, I didn't install windows xp but I don't have an external floppy drive. This is not a problem but because I can use Nlite to integrate the drivers in a new ISO of Windows XP.

The problem is that I have 4 sets of drivers: ICH7M_32bit, ICH7M_64bit, ICH8M_32bit and ICH8M_64bit. As I install Windows XP 32-bit while I'm more or less some that I have not need 64-bit drivers but when I install Windows XP by using the modified version of windows xp slipstreamed, what I get at startup is a BSD error telling me that something has crashed on my hard drive , however I can't say which crashed as the screen disappears after 15 seconds if that so I guess there is something wrong with the drivers I use (though I must admit that I'm not sure the drivers 32-bit to use)

advice and assistance regarding being able to install windows xp would be welcome, as I said above, however, I can only use Nlite since I do not have a usb floppy drive.

Satellite A200-1YO has a chip with the ICH8M southbridge Intel GM965.

So you need the driver for SATA ICH8M_32bit.

  • Problem installing Windows XP on Satellite A100

I have a Toshiba A100 with Windows XP (German) and I would like to clean install Windows XP (English). At the start of the CD installation normally inspects the hardware configuration, but after that it crashes. I left it for 15-20 minutes but there was no response, and then I had to leave the facility.

The installation guide for windows xp says it has something to do with the hardware compatibility. (I tried pressing F5, F6, F7 to skip this step, but did not help)
I tried the same installation CD on the laptop from my friend (of another brand) and it worked! I wonder what is so specific as to the compatibility of equipment for Toshiba laptop with windows xp.

However, my (German OS) recovery CD works great!

  • Satellite A200-23W: problem installing Windows Vista

    Hello..

I now that this topic is discussed several times before, but after trying many solutions of the forum and some of my only, I reached a level that it makes no sense...

First off I would like to explain what I do for a living, it has to do with IT and that is what makes it even more tempting for me.

2 days ago a friend bought a Toshiba A200-23W. The first thing I always do when I buy a new laptop is to format it and install a clean Windows operating system.
After my first attempt, I realized that I have to install first the matrix storage driver.

I downloaded the driver from toshiba place related to my model. (Intel Matrix Storage Manager - 7.5.0.1017).
I created a usb key with the required driver files:

    iaAhci.inf,
    iaAhci.cat,
    iaStor.inf, iaStor.cat,
    iaStor.sys, and
    TxtSetup.oem

in the folder (F6flpy) of the (Intel Matrix Storage Manager) you can copy them to the root of the USB stick.
When the form "Where you want to install windows" windows Vista appear I select load the driver, and then by clicking (Browse), I select the USB drive as source for my drivers.
The (Intel(r) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller) will automatically appear as a choice and by clicking on the (Next) the process of the pilot installation begins.
    So far so good..

    Here's where things get complicated...
When Vista back to the form "Where you want to install windows", even my system has 2 x 200 GG HDD only 200 GB HARD drive appears in the list...

Selections of 'New' Partition, or a Partition of 'Delete' are disabled.
and even when I click 'Next' for selected HD a windows message:

"Windows has no determine if this computer contains a valid system volume."

    I'd appreciate your help...

    Thank you in advance...
    George P.

    Hello

You cannot format the HARD disk or delete the partition because this would remove the SATA driver too, and the HARD drive would not be recognized by Vista!

Therefore, you need to install the OS on the HARD drive that is displayed in the installation program.
