  • MENU FOR FAX AND SCAN - HP OFFICEJET PRO 8600 MORE

I find either my MEMU for fax and scan for my HP Officejet Pro 8600. This is the menu that allow you to select the type of scan (jpeg, etc.) and whether it's for email, files, etc. I don't know what is happening and I don't want to reinstall the printer.

    Any ideas?

Hi containerpete and welcome to the forums of HP!

I see that you are working with a 8600 Officejet who doesn't seem to have the scan/Fax options in the HP printer Assistant longer. I'm sorry to hear that, but I'll certainly do my best to help you!

You can certainly just add the HP Scan icon on your desktop for the feature analysis on the computer, but if you need Fax options we then focus on the software uninstallation/reinstallation.

For now, I'll explain how to add the icon HP Scan on your desktop (assuming that you are working with Windows 7) and if you want the instructions to uninstall/reinstall to see to get the other return options that I'll happily provide those in the next post

To add scanning HP icon on your desktop click the start menu, click programs principally made, click the HP folder, click on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 folder and then right-click on HP Scan, click send to and select Desktop. Now you have a HP Scan icon on your desktop and actually save you a click or two

Let me know how it goes, and if you want that the other instructions!

  • The link "FAX and SCAN" is not working (says no link) on my Vista Ultimate desktop.

    Hello:

I've never used the link "FAX and SCAN" until that earlier, and it failed.  How can I fix?  I have Vista Ultimate (SP2) with all the patches and updates.  I use a gateway GT5438 desktop (with DSL, works very well) connected to a HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-one who has a FAX option.  How can I solve this problem?  Thank you.

Fax works through the telephone system. Your HP printer may let you fax directly from the printer, if it is connected to a telephone line, you will need to consult your documentation.

You can search electronic fax software that allows you to send a fax by downloading on a server such as efax.

  • Problem with Windows Fax and Scan.

I have a Canon MG5420 and Win7 64-bit.  All of a sudden, the Office does not see the scanner.  The print function continues to operate correctly.  Problem occurs regardless of USB or WiFi connection.  The only change in my system is a migration towards Office365.  Other than that, no change. I tried all the basics: refreshed drivers, uninstalled the printer and re-installed.  Any thoughts on what could be the cause?  I get the message error is "No. scanners were detected.  The utility Scan Canon IJ can see the scanner, but I prefer to use the Windows fax and scan.  Any ideas?

Unfortunately his is possible because there are different drivers and stacks of driver for the printer and the component the same multifunction device installed on the client computer scanner. In a case when the right printer driver is installed and available from the scanner driver may be missing or may be incompatible with Windows Fax and Scan requires the parser must be WIA 2.0 compatible, a TWAIN compatible scanner only for example will not work with this app).

  • Has anyone seen a fax USB modem that works with Windows Fax and Scan?

So far I'm 0 for 2.  PC Fax modems seem to be a lost art.  A few months ago, I tried a USB fax modem and tested the receipt of the fax.  The modem answers the phone, the fax sender starts the transmission and... nothing happens.  Eventually, the sender times out with an error.   Same computer, same Windows Fax and Scan software, with an old modem connected to a serial port, all works well.  Modem manufacturer was not able to help.

And now the same problem with another PC, the modem is different, different situation.  This time I don't have an easy fallback to a serial port.

And that leads to my question - no matter that matter where in fact seen a fax-modem USB in the field send and receive faxes using Windows Fax and Scan on Windows 7, and if yes, what was the make and model?

    Thank you

    -Greg Scott

    Hello Greg,.

    Thanks for the quick response.

You can view the reviews of the product in the manufacturer's Web site and see if that helps.

Also for the Windows Fax and Scan, when your PC or computer would be equipped with a fax modem (or connected to a fax server), it can send and receive documents such as a standalone device. Windows Fax and Scan even includes a handy tool for the design of custom cover pages.

  • Problem with Windows Fax and Scan does not connect to the Internal Modem

Just got a new Acer Aspire 5542-5416 computer laptop with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, 4 GB of Ram and a 320 GB hard drive. It has a 56 k modem integrated fax of like the old days, but I can't make it work. The laptop did not come with the Windows CD.

If I open the program Windows Fax and Scan, it is not able to connect to the modem. Basically, if I click on tools > fax accounts > Add..., I get a box with 2 choices: to connect to a fax modem or connect to a fax on my network server. When I want to connect a fax modem I get a message that says: an error has occurred. Please, try the operation again later or contact your administrator. It allows me to do this then just clock OK and them I'm right where I started.

While in Windows Fax and Scan, if I click on tools > fax settings... nothing happens. No menu settings or anything ever appears. Quite simply, the program does nothing. If I try tools > Fax Status Monitor... I get a box that says entrance exam status, ready to receive a fax. It has a blue progress bar as something takes over, but it gets about 1/100 to and never goes further or ends. There is no box, but there are 3 buttons: view details, answer call or cancel. If I hit details, I get an empty list. If I click on answer call I get an error that says that the fax service is not available.

If I try tools > Options, general tab has only a single option box is checked: play a sound when come it to new messages. If I try to print a Word or PDF file to a fax using Fax in the printer list, I get the same box with 2 choices: to connect to a fax modem or connect to a fax on my network server, but I get the same error message: an error has occurred. Please, try the operation again later or contact your administrator.

I've searched the Internet high and low for a solution but no luck. There is a lot of discussion about this problem, but none of the solutions work for me. If I go to Device Manager, the modem is working properly and if I click on the Modem query on the Diagnostics tab, it seems to be able to communicate with the modem very well. I tried to roll back the driver and updated again and still no luck, same problem. If I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fax\Accounts in the registry, there is no subkeys under the folder accounts I can delete.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is there any solution for this? I did a Windows Update last night and has not yet solve it. Thank you.

    Sorry about that.

  • Fax and scanning of Windows problems

I can't get windows Fax and Scan to scan documents in black and white.

I gives me the possibility of Documents, Photos and the last settings used in profile, but when I try to select the color Format, the only option I get is color (No black and white and not gray scale)

I can't find this particular issue addressed anywhere and no resolution.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You can try one of the methods is to turn off and then turn on the Windows Fax & Scan service. Doing so is like the disconnection of the existing facility and its replacement by a new. I suspect that there is something abnormal in the current installation.

    Here's how:

Click on 'Start' ---> ' Control Panel ' ---> 'programs and features' and in the left pane, click on "Turn on or off windows features". Give time resulting from the box to complete and scrolling down to "Print and Document Services" and to extend it by clicking on the '+' sign. Uncheck the 'Windows Fax & Scan'box and click on 'OK'. Follow the prompts if necessary and wait until the course ends.

Reverse the process by checking the box to reinstall Windows 'Fax & Scan ". Now try again to accomplish the task of setting up a new account.

Configure your computer to send and receive faxes

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Problems with Microsoft fax and scan

I use Microsoft fax and scan on a win 7 pro sp1 machine, to connect to a Microsoft Fax under windows 2012 R2 server.  Inbound faxing works ok, but for outgoing faxes, a few questions.

on the server, I can see 4 pages of coverage.  How can I force users to use these 4 cover pages.  I thought that they show for all users in the domain, but they did not.

When you send a fax how do I get it to look at outlook (we use office 365) for the contact database?

for both the fax and scanning seems to be only looking on the local computer.  I'm looking for something more integrated with this solution.

    Thank you

  • Windows 7 Fax and Scan no longer works

Fax and scan worked until yesterday. At that time the shortcut would open the Fax/Scan window, but contacts, faxes archived, treat, etc., were not available. I tried to create a fax and it allowed me to to insert a document scanned, but not allow me to get a glimpse of the fax and I did not send it.

I checked the modem and it's OK. After trying several things, I used 'Enable or disable functions' to turn off the fax and scanning, then restarted. Then I tried to re - turn on the function of fax and scan, but at the end of this process, there is an error message and after re-booting fax and scan is still not available.  There is no file Wfs.exe in the System32 folder, and without of listed Windows Fax and Scan program.  I also ran sfc/scannow, indicating the corrupted files that have been repaired.

Where should I go here for turn on the Fax/Scan in Windows 7 feature?

  • Can Fax and Scan works when the computer is in standby?

I am relying on Windows Fax & Scan (WFS) to try repeatedly fax a document until it succeeds.  He will continue to try even if it goes into mode after the time period specified in power options?  Right now, I've set High Performance from switch to "standby" mode, but it seems like a waste to keep the fully active computer only try to fax from time to time.  It's a must to send the fax, but if the computer doesn't have to be quite awake to do this, or if she'll wake to do that, so much better.  For example, I understand the HD turns down mode "Eve".  If there is enough RAM, I wonder if the HD even turn up just to send the fax.

    Hi Frank,.

If Windows Fax and Scan is set to auto answer mode and your ring-in modem is defined as a factor in reactivation - usually required to be put in the BIOS of the motherboard (Basic input and output system) - the system will be woken up and answered the call.

Note: Changing the BIOS / oxide of additional metal (CMOS) semiconductor parameters incorrectly can causeserious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
